Everything tastes amazing! And not too sweet. High quality coffee. Very strong . Small amount of space inside and outside just 2 tablets near the door. It’s better to take out to enjoy the taste

I’ve been waiting for this new location to open forever and it lived up the hype. I visited at 9 am on a Saturday and it wasn’t super busy. Easy in & out with lots of donut and drink options. Seating inside is limited in the small space with one high top and two low top tables, so keep this in mind when planning a visit.

This place gets packed, so I would highly recommend that you place a pick up order to avoid long lines! We had the tiramisu and the berry cheesecake and I must say they tasted very different than your average donut. The first one we tried was the berry cheesecake and it tasted like whipped cheese filling with a strudel like crumb with bread. It was good but I never thought I was eating a donut if that makes sense. The tiramisu was a huge disappointment. To be honest I thought they might have forgotten to sweeten it. I think if I were having this with a latte or such I might have not noticed but it was very noticeable that this donut hardly had any sugar added. Maybe we will return to try another…

Loved the donuts, great variety and flavors. Was there for opening day, only downside was the AC wasn’t working. Great vibes and donuts! The Brisket Kolache was 🔥

Google
Grand opening was awesome! We’ve visited the location on South Congress several times and looked forward to this location opening up for a while. Food, drinks, and staff are great!

Google
Sooo yummy . We had a Terry Black's brisket kolache . It was hot , fresh and loaded with tasty brisket. The chocolate cake donut was to die for. We also got a berry cheesecake but that's for dessert tonight !! I saw some vegan options and many more I want to try. They do have a walk up window to pickup call in / online orders. Two tables for outside seating. So glad the Domain location is open.

We came in on a weekday right before closing, and a young male staff member was super friendly and helped us place our order. I really loved the vibe and design of the place — and the donuts were delicious!

Google
So excited this location is now open and closer to me ! I stopped by early this morning, there was a small line, but we received coffee samples while waiting. I even won a prize at the door! A cute tote bag and of course some yummy donuts to go !

Yelp
Saw that The Salty was open and wanted to give it a try. I thought it was okay overall--I would describe the donut like a Shipleys donut but with better frosting. The dough is a bit dry and dense. I got an assortment of donuts and savory kolaches. The mixed berry cheesecake was probably my favorite of the sample. You can tell they mixed real fruit into making the frosting. Overall, the donut was a bit much with the custard filling. I would say the same about the other donuts I got (Samoa, horchata and glaze). A bit underwhelming. For the savory pastries, I got the cragel with jalapeño cream cheese frosting, the brisket and cheddar sausage kolache. The cragel was probably my favorite, but probably wouldn't get it again. The kolaches were very, very dry. The decor inside the store was nice and modern. I came on a weekday morning and found to go parking on the street. The parking structure closest to the store is closed off for construction so coming on the weekends and evenings might be a bit of a nightmare.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of visiting The Salty Donut on its grand opening and were not disappointed. The inside and outside are good looking and it fits right in in The Domain. One thing that is a big plus is that it's located not far from the parking lots so it's relatively accessible. We ordered a bit of a haul so I'll break it down briefly: the donuts are good, pretty different and interesting flavors all around; the oreo donut holes were okay, about as expected; the brisket kolache was bad, barely any meat or flavor which was a huge letdown; the coffee was pretty good and one of the more standout items we had there. Ordering is very straightforward and the time to receive our order was pretty quick. All this to say we also understand we went to their grand opening so they were on their "a game", which isn't a bad thing, just something to be mindful of. We have heard that the South Congress location is the more standout of the two but for what it's worth, The Salty Donut (in The Domain) is a delicious and fun way to get a sweet treat in. Stop by if you're in the area! If you want a better visual of the experience, look at my Tik Tok @ambermlee

Yelp
Mmmmm Donuts. The wait has been worth it for a true donut shop to hit the Domain. After hearing all the social media buzz I had to try this place out. Atmosphere: Modern cozy type cafe. The smells of the bakery with a coffee just makes everything taste such much better. Food: A good judgement of a donut shop is just to try the classics. I ended up getting a half dozen of simple glazed donuts and their "cragle". Very fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. Their Cragle (a croissant bagel) was a great savory option for those not wanting something sweet. Unfortunately my stomach is only so big but I would easily come back to try other treats. Personally I'm eying the Texas Chocolate or the Horchata. Service: Friendly counter top, there seems to even been a small take out window if you want things to go. I believe you can order online as well. A fine addition to the Domain as well as a great place to start or end the day if you make your way over. Looking forward to trying other treats.

Yelp
Actual Rating: 4.5 out of 5 The Salty Donut is a chain donut spot, and the original one in Austin is located on Congress Avenue (South Austin). Having one closer to the north location means more sessions at the gym to pay for the carbs and calories this place offers, haha. Into the review! ---- Pros: - Friendly staff - Parking is abundant (parked in the lots) - Simple menu - Uses Intelligentsia coffee - GF/Vegan options (limited) Side Notes: - Open daily from 7 AM to 7 or 10 PM - Open to 10 PM on FRI/SAT What We Got: - 3 Donuts - 1 Kolache - Two specialty coffees ---- Design/Space: It's nice, with tables inside and outside. Sitting there and doing work is a bit loud and crowded, but with great coffee and donuts, it's aesthetically a small yet nicely designed interior. You can see clearly what they do have and have run out of, but it never hurts to ask if they are making more in the back. Drinks/Food: Since they are known for donuts, let's get into the food first. What we got: Glazed, Brown Butter + Salt, Mixed Berry Cheesecake donuts, Terry Black's BBQ Brisket + Cheddar Kolache, and two coffees, Cinnamon Cereal Milk Latte and Salted Caramel Latte. The donuts were nice and "pillowy," and nothing was stale. The glazed was our favorite, with the brown butter following closely behind, but they were out of most of the ones we wanted on Saturday (late morning--grand opening weekend): Horchata, Churro, and Samoa donuts. The cheesecake was rich; we had plowed through the first two donuts together by then. It was too much sugar for one sitting (great flavor, though!). Similarly, the cinnamon cereal milk latte was sweet and heavy after the donuts, but had great flavor. The salted caramel latte was good, too, but perhaps the best one we've ever tried. Again, this is post-donuts, so we needed something to balance our high sugar intake. These were rich in sugar, especially the cinnamon cereal milk latte (at least it tasted that way to me). The kolache was good, but if you are expecting Terry Black's BBQ in a donut, get Terry Black's to go and come here to get the full effect. Haha, but it was a good bite to balance out the sugar we got in the donuts and coffee. Staff: The staff was friendly, given the number of people likely asking the same questions during the grand opening weekend. Opportunities to Improve: They could have more donuts on hand to purchase. However, as they opened this past weekend, it's difficult to understand the actual demand versus the planned demand, so this will likely get better over the next few months (not a big deal at all - it's business). ---- Summary: The Salty Donut is a premium donut, and with Intelligentsia coffee, it'll be my favorite spot to grab a cold brew or meet over coffee with a friend in the future. It's a nice addition to the area, and I'll be right back. I'm still feeling that sugar high and need a nap. 4.5 because we couldn't try the other donuts out (but we'll be back).

Yelp
Better late than never - we've been waiting for this location to open for well over a year, and it's finally here! As a casual customer of the SoCo location, I was thrilled for this north location to open. We attended the grand opening and won prizes ($50 gift card, $5 off, $10 off, and a free drink) which they graciously allowed us to combine in a group purchase. My go-to order is the brown butter salted donut - this is the best donut out there! I also really love their seasonal iced matcha lemonade. I'm not really a fan of some of their other lattes as they're too milky in my opinion, but this spring/summer-y matcha lemonade is a refreshing drink. The location is small since it's tucked into Rock Rose Ave., but it's modern and cute inside and they sell the same fantastic items you can get at the other locations. Order ahead is available and loyalty points are also available. I can't wait to frequent this location since it's much more convenient to me than SoCo!

Yelp
They just opened this morning (6/6/25) at 7 A.M., and I got there early to be their first customer of the day :) The staff were friendly, and they even served us coffee samples as we waited for their grand opening. This location fits right in with other small shops at the Domain. They have limited seating inside and two tables outside. It is clean and modern-looking inside. Helpfully, they have a display at the register (of which there were 2 today) of all their donuts and other food offerings. I got a half-dozen donuts, the kolache, and a cragel (croissant bagel) with cheese. I love croissants, so I was very pumped to see a croissant crossover. It was very delicious, and they paired it was a whipped cream cheese (not necessary but also delicious) that came in a very cute espresso cup with a lid. The kolache was not overly special in the world of kolaches, but still quite tasty. The donuts ranged from just under $3 to just under $5 apiece and were quite different from each other, which I love. They are creative, delicious, fresh, fluffy, and very sweet. I'm not sure I could choose a favorite, but typically, an OG glazed is my favorite, but it wasn't today! I loved the glaze on the Mixed Berry Cheesecake, and the flavor profile on the Samoa was uber great, while the Brown Butter and Salt was crunchy, sweet, and savory all at the same time. The donuts are decadent and filling. My least favorites were the chocolate ones - the Oreo donut holes and the GF chocolate whoopie pie (too dense and not my favorite kind of chocolate flavor). I'll be back for another cragel (of course) and to try the other donuts from the menu.

Yelp
The Salty is a trendy small chain that started in Miami and this new Domain location is their second in Austin after the South Congress flagship that opened a few years ago. This one is much smaller with only three tables and no bathroom, but they still have a good menu of gourmet doughnuts and coffee. This is their first day so there were a few bumps in service like adding ice to coffee when I asked for no ice, but that was easily fixed. The Cereal Milk Latte was amusing and had a grainy cinnamon syrup that did a good job of simulating cereal milk, but I'm annoyed they charge $1.25 extra for half and half. Is that really necessary on a $6.25 drink that's only 12 oz. to begin with? Also, their lids leak. The doughnuts are imaginative and very photogenic and I got a couple to share and picked the one-day-only Maple French Toast one for myself. It has a nice fluffy brioche body and the filling is a bit too fluffy and insubstantial for me, but overall has a nice taste that needs more maple but does a nice job of simulating French toast. Excessively priced at almost $5 each so I may not come often, but it's certainly an experience worth trying at least once.

Yelp
Excited to see that The Salty is open at the Domain. I shared the pb&j vegan donut. These donuts are massive enough to share. The strawberry frosting was so pretty and I especially liked the creamy peanut butter filling. I also tried a sip of my husband's cappuccino. It was extremely hot which I like but proceed with caution! It also paired deliciously with my donut.

Yelp
The Domain location of the Salty Donut finally opened today! As part of their opening specials, they had a raffle for the first 250 people in line to win prizes, which, of course, resulted in a line up the block. Despite the massive crowd, the workers were genuinely really friendly and struck up conversations with me. After waiting an hour and a half in line, I was really happy to be met with friendly faces! The inside of the shop is pretty small, with just three tables, but they do have a couple more tables and chairs outside. They have a display case of all the donuts, plus an additional display by the register if you need a visual to make your decision. There is a restroom right around the corner from the tables next to the trash can and water station (could be missed if there's a big crowd waiting for coffee :)). I've never been to the South Congress location, so I wanted to try the donuts they are most known for. I ordered: - Horchata Donut (5/5): This donut is a 24 hour brioche dough, and part of the inside is soaked in their homemade horchata mixture. I thought this would make the inside soggy, but it's more like a tres leches texture. The bottom is coated in Valrhona Caramelia chocolate, which is a fancy chocolate that has buttery caramel notes. I love that they thought to put chocolate on the bottom of the donut, which isn't something I've seen before! Finally, the donut is topped off with torched cinnamon meringue, which is fluffy and delightful. This donut was not only visually stunning, but delicious! I thought it would be really heavy with all the components, but the dough and meringue are so light that they carry all the flavors well. I do have to unhinge my jaw to fit it all in my mouth, but no complaints. - Churro & Dulce de Leche Star (4/5): This donut is made with the same 24 hour brioche dough, but it's shaped in a cute little star! It's filled with whipped dulce de leche, which gives it a super buttery, caramel flavor. This one is quite a bit smaller than the horchata donut, and didn't stand out as much to me, but I still enjoyed it. I do wish it were a little larger since it's about the same price as the other donuts. - Cold Brew & Lemonade (4/5): Two of the workers told me they LOVE this drink, so I had to try it. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but the drink was surprisingly refreshing! It really does taste exactly like cold brew and lemonade, which I know is impossible to imagine if you've never had it, but I guess it's kind of like a less sweet lemonade with a coffee aftertaste (that didn't sell it at all, sorry). If you like cold brew and not very sweet drinks I would give it a try! Overall, I was impressed with the Salty Donut, especially with it being opening day. Normally a new spot needs a few weeks to get things straightened out, even if it's a chain, but the Salty seems to have it all figured out! I would recommend this place if you're looking for a light and fluffy donut (I haven't tried their cake donuts yet, but the person working the register said the brown butter donut is their favorite!). They also have cute packaging for the donuts and drinks if you're looking to give someone a little donut gift.

Yelp
Went on opening day, national donut day, and it was a crazy as expected. The donuts are amazing. They've got basic flavors and some pretty fancy ones. Big fluffy and delicious! A new cute spot with checking out in the Domain

Yelp
Uhhh yum! So excited to have a donut business in the domain! The line was getting long on Sunday morning but it was worth it. The donut selection is amazing! There is definitely something for everyone! The wait to get your order was real quick. It was the wait to order that took a while. Would be nice to have a menu display outside so people in line could decide what they wanted while they waited. We had long waits because people in front couldn't decide what they wanted. There is 3 tables inside, including 1 high top. There are also 2 tables outside but pretty limited considering the crowd. People found places to eat on the rocks throughout rock rose road. Now to the actual donuts. First off had to try to Terry Blacks Brisket Kolache and it was good but the brisket lacked a bit of seasoning. The donuts were delicious. We got the glazed donut holes and the cookies and cream, both were dense. The glazed were yummy and perfect kid size! The cookies and cream was super dense and could only eat 1 or 2. The donut holes come in half dozen orders and is super cheap considering. It was $3.70. While a dozen donuts is $52, we got the peach cobbler donut and that was also very good! Great consistency and flavoring. The everything bagel donut was amazing, it was very light and flakey and obviously well seasoned! We will definitely be back, hoping the open the pick up window soon after their grand opening weekend. Overall really loved the selection and the taste!

Yelp
The shop is a bit small but has some indoor and outdoor seating. We tried the samoa, mixed berry cheesecake, and the churro & dulce de leche star. The donuts were good but the mixed berry cheesecake was by far the best. We also tried the everything cragel. The cragel was good and very flaky. The price point is on the high side for donuts but it is a nice occasional treat.

Yelp
Stopped by The Salty Donut at The Domain after a fun evening at the dog park with my pup, and it was honestly such a sweet little experience (pun intended). First of all, major love to them for being pet friendly -- they let my pup come inside with me, and that small gesture made my whole day. They still had a great selection of donuts when we arrived, and we ended up trying the Samoa cookie donut -- and wow. It was everything you'd want in a donut: rich, chocolatey, coconutty perfection with that gooey caramel situation that makes you stop mid-bite and just savor. If you're hoping to catch more of their fun flavors, I'd recommend going earlier in the morning since some of the popular ones sell out fast -- for good reason. The staff was friendly, the vibe was chill, and it's the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the moment (preferably with a donut in one hand and a leash in the other

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon. There was a line of about 3 people in front of us which I think because everyone was indecisive took awhile to finally order. They were out of quite a fee of the donuts on their menu. Between 6 of us we tried about 4 different donuts. They were all good, but nothing wow'd me overall. If I'm in the area and in the mood for something sweet I'm sure I'd stop in again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come get donuts here. The seating is very limited so most likely plan on taking the donuts to go.

Adan C.

Yelp
I've been here twice and every single time they were out of donuts. They recommended to come very early

Yelp
To start the review the ambiance it is a pretty small restaurant on the inside only 1 or 2 tables inside only one picture on the wall and the name of the Restaurant they do have tables outside I think they probably get more take out business then dining in the Service all the employees seemed very friendly as this is the first day open and seemed pretty well familiar already with working the cash register which is impressive with being the first day open the food was very good I purchased 3 Original Glazed Doughnuts which was good the doughnut is a pretty good thick doughnut with more frosting then your typical store bought doughnut but there doughnuts are pretty pricey for a single glazed doughnut is 3.90 i believe there Dozen Doughnuts are 52.00 which is incredibly high they may want to change there prices in the future Overall it is a good well run doughnut shop they may want to adjust some things like the hours and have it close at like 1:00 in the afternoon or 2:00 as i do not think most people will want a doughnut late at night unless they are picking up some for the next morning if they want to stick with 8 pm they may want to expand there menu with Sandwiches , etc for the evening

Yelp
Bomb ass donuts. The dough is so good. Nothing beats the original glazed imo - perfect with a cup of black coffee. My fave donut in atx

Yelp
The best donuts in existence... Yes, worth the calories. Might ruin all other donut shops for you.

Anna P.

Yelp
They run out of their best sellers fast so come early. The donuts were just the right amount of sweet The person who attended to us was not smiling... maybe they were already tired or something

Aaron P.

Yelp
clean, friendly, and wide variety of options, AND they take care of their Domain neighbors? Come here, forget anywhere else in the Domain, this is a perfect spot to grab a bite or WFH.
