My gluten free tuna melt was DELICIOUS. This is definitely one of my new favorite to-go restaurants in Seattle. Extremely reasonable prices for the quality. They even put goldfish on my Caesar that came with the sandwich :) what a nice surprise! The place was cute and extremely sparkling clean and the dude was super chill, my food was done early and packed super nicely with free condiments. Can’t beat it!

It’s crazy this place doesn’t have a higher rating. The bartender and kitchen staff are super talented and sweet, and the bar is dope. Also bar food is fire. 🔥 club sandwich and chili is so good.

Genuinely bad. I do not recommend this location. $60 tab just to end up cooking at home anyways because it was so unappetizing and unfilling. I wouldn't be mad at the food I got if it wasn't so expensive. Just know if you're going to eat here that a sandwich is going to run you AT MINIMUM 15-20 dollars and it won't be very good. A can of red bull is 6 dollars for the smallest can size. Untoasted, crumbly bread with grocery store ingredients stuffed between. I found 2 hairs in my sandwich and in my partners wrap. There is no customer service to speak of due to the nature of the takeout kiosk, but the person who handed me my food was very polite.

I used to come here a lot and it had been a while since I had eaten here. I felt like the quality had dropped since the last time I had one of their sandwiches. The bread they’re using is super dry and honestly just not good at all. It was like the cheapest white bread you could find. The sandwich also had a ton of mayo-type dressing but then also comes with a dipping sauce, which is weird. I think I’d prefer just choosing what spread I’d like on the sandwich since dipping a sandwich in a teeny little cup is not very convenient. The sandwich contents were also really concentrated in the middle so the outer portions are basically just bread which is kind of a bummer. On top of all of this, I never got the side that comes with the sandwich. Assuming they forgot to put it in my to-go bag. I think a few changes to address these things could go a long way.

This place is basically the kitchen of the Octopus Bar. You can also get take out, but I think dining in with a pitcher of beer is the best experience. We got a tuna melt, Chicago dog, tater tots and onion rings, all tasty and fresh and good portion sizes. Just thought it was sad the last reviews were all bad since it was great, we were there on a Saturday at 7pm and got our food in like 10 mins.

This place is great: walk up, order the "Catamaran", and have a delicious sandwich in just a few minutes. For such a new place, the pickup window setup and decorations are amazing! They have a giant sign with their sandwich/hotdog menu, and more signs for to-go beer & cocktails, so it is easy to social-distance and plan my order.

I Love everything about the Salty Shack. The food is bomb and I love the care and creativity put into the to-go packaging, You really feel special opening that box with all its delicious treasures. Currently my favorite is the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich and tots. Sad this sandwich is for a limited time only because I'd order it forever if it were up to me. Thanks for bringing the fun to dinner and snack time.

Food quality and service were definitely it! We were at the Octopus Bar and got some food from the Salty Shack to go with our drinks. We were pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was. It came quickly, and the servers were very attentive. It honestly felt like restaurant-quality food. I highly recommend the food; they didn't skimp out on the ingredients.

Good ambiance, as you're eating in a bar. The music was good and fit the mood. Sandwiches were tasty. Highlight was the chili cheese dog that was exactly what i was craving. Onion rings were good, thick batter .

Lunch review: This is the food service attached to the Octopus Bar. We had the tots with nacho cheese and two hot dogs. Wow so good, that homemade cheese sauce was excellent! Spicy but not in a hurt you later sort of way. I had the plain dog on a gf bun with ketchup and the hubs had a Seattle dog. Both were awesome, great grilled flavor. Now onto the Octopus Bar, this place is massive but at 2 on a Monday there were only a few people. The waitstaff were excellent, so nice. I really loved it here and will be back. Also loved the $11 beer/shot combo. Great value in Seattle.

I tried the chicago and the seattle as someone whos never had either, and have eaten hotdogs with almost exclusively ketchup my entire life. the fanciest i got was some chopped white onion. idk why, but i felt like full sending it and getting these two masterpieces. The Seattle was the BOMB. and tbh thats the one i was way more unsure of. like, cream cheese...? on a hot dog???? but damn, it works. the jalapeños add a pleasant and enjoyable heat for someone who doesn't lean towards spicy foods. and the cream cheese cuts the spice and balances it w such a yummy flavor addition. you really wouldn't expect it but its a fire combo. the chicago was impressive, but had a higher heat level, completely doable, but was combined w a loott of sour/vinegary too. the pickles, peppers, and spicy aioli are all heavy hitters in that department and you don't really have anything to balance it out. i think that's just me and my taste tho, if you're someone that enjoys the spicy/sour yumminess, then i think this would be a hit. took a star off bc while the hot dogs overall were amaze, the hoagie rolls were DRYYYY and v bread-y for what i'm used to. it didn't matter as much once i heated it up tho as both hot dogs are real saucy and that fixed the dryness issue lol. the other reason is bc it seems like this place is pretty hit or miss, ie the pretzel being a total bust.

Hot dog cooked to perfection, and caramelized onions and pickled jalapeños are uniquely. No cream cheese for me--strictly mustard for me!

Sandwiches are terrific; we've ordered 5 different times. Hearty, and flavorful. Got it? Delicious sandwiches!

I've gotten delivery once and take out once. The photos are from my delivery experience. I got a chili cheese dog, jalapeño poppers, and chicken tender basket. Oh, and a vodka lemonade - you can get cocktails delivered via DoorDash! Everything was super good, especially the chili cheese dog. They were really generous with the chili (a full cup of it) and it was delicious. The lemonade is made from scratch and I really enjoyed that, as well - not too sweet. When we did takeout, we each got a sandwich, and we also got a Chicago dog, "chum bucket" w/ tots, and a handful of cocktails. I'd had kind of a bad week and was basically like, I don't even care, let's just get whatever we want even if it's an insane amount of stuff, haha. They do single serving craft cocktails for takeout in little cans, which is pretty cool. And they were SO GOOD (all with very clever nautical-themed names). I think our favorite was the "No Ship Sherlock" seasonal Moscow mule. The Chicago dog was amazing - based on this and my previous chili cheese dog, I can say without hesitation that their hotdogs are 100% 10/10. The "chum bucket" tots were also really good, and again came with a very generous full cup of chili. I hate to say it because everything else was so good, but the sandwiches were pretty disappointing for the price, we both thought. I had a tuna sandwich and my bf had a veggie sandwich. They used fresh, quality ingredients, but both sandwiches were kind of bland, and a lot smaller than we were expecting for $14 apiece. That's the only reason I dropped a star, but aside from that, they are 5 star all the way. So, we would not revisit the sandwiches, but hotdogs and cocktails HELL YES YES YES!! Anything involving the chili is also highly recommended. And although I didn't really go into detail about it, chicken tenders were good, too (there were more in there than what the photo shows) - crispy and well-seasoned, and more than what I was expecting.

I used to think this business was ok, I had ordered here dozens of times. I had a question today about something on their menu. I tried to call and ask about it. They place so little value on you as a customer they aren't willing to speak with you. Then they have the audacity to ask for 20%, 25%, or 30% tip. No I'm not tipping you when you won't even pick up the phone or write a sufficiently descriptive menu. This was the last time I suggest we order here again.

We sat inside octopus bar and ordered from the salty shack and the food was great for a bar! For the ceasar salad wrap and there was so much flavor in the sauce and crunch from the goldfish! Get their tater tots with veggie chilli and the taste is amazing!!

I had a tuna melt wrap with tater tots and stuffed jalapenos. I had actually meant to order a tuna melt sandwich but wasn't paying attention, but the wrap was really, really good.

I straight up goggled Tuna Melt Near Me and this place popped up in the list. The description of tuna, capers, mayo, celery and onion on Macrina bread with cheddar and tomato = Yum. Right now (during Covid) the place is a walk-up window, but I'd love to sit in the Octopus Bar once it's open. It looked like a theme park. The sandwich was good and that crust will really make you use your teeth when ripping off a bite. The tots were well cooked and the spicy aioli was nice too. I liked the little carry box and the newspaper print tissue paper liner. They also included a lil' treat of a dum dum and under-the-sea gummies. Be forewarned, just like it's namesake - the food is salty!

When The Octopus Bar closed last winter, I was so bummed and couldn't wait to see what was to come next. Just down the street (literally 1/2 block) The Octopus will soon reopen, but their food window The Salty Shack is ready for customers. Sandwiches, hot dogs, sailor themed drinks all bless this menu with a kind, masked worker behind the counter. I got the Chicago dog with crisp onion, pickle, sliced tomato and red peppers. Delicious with a good spicy kick. Washed it down with a takeout White Claw for a perfect evening treat! Excited to try all the things on the menu and eventually inside The Octopus Bar this winter!!

I haven't been this excited to see a Seattle dog on a menu since 2019 (pre-covid when they were on every corner)! Sooooo happy Octopus Bar opened this quick pit stop, making us all feel one step closer to going to back to bars and restaurants care free!

I ordered a Veggie Hot Dog and discovered at home that it's only bread + sausage. I believe they do have other options on their menu that aren't quite as minimalistic. Next time, I'll be more precise with my order, but I wish someone had asked. Apart from that, the sausage surprised me with great texture and great flavor! I find decent vegan sausage to be quite rare so I'll be back for sure.

My daughter ordered a Shark Bait Wrap for me. I was excited to try their "Super Secret House Made Tuna Mix". I feel bad she had to spend $14 for a tasteless and dry wrap! I guess the super-secret mix it's just a dry tuna from a can. Also, there was no cheese...disappointed

Not great. I mean... untoasted white bread? As others have reviewed: tasteless, bland, overpriced. I'm a terrible cook and I can make a better sandwich than this.

Someone recommended Salty Shack to me. It was over a week before I tried them.. all the while I anticipated the Tots... I was NOT disappointed! I got the Lucky Lady.. Everything was so FRESH!! The Tots were freaking amazing and the Chili is a must with them!! I have never had such awesome spicy aioli!! The bbq sauce perfect! Now let's talk drinks!! So on point!! Oh Ship! Hot Toddies.. NAILED IT!! (The names are adorable) I'm coming back to try more and bringing friends!! I cannot wait to be here after quarantine!!

A delicious sandwich takeout spot that fits a Wallingford need during Covid. Salty Shack offers sandwiches and hotdogs that are a great carryout option. Our personal favorite is the Catamaran. The tater tots are crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. The salads are basic yet refreshing.

Been here a couple times for Bingo on Monday's. I order the chum bucket cheesy tots and mini corn dohs every tjme. Definitely recommend this place, very cool interior decorations inside.

Really pleased with this spot! Saw it while waiting for TNT across the street and had to come back another day to try it out. The menu is easy to read and had a lot of good options for sandwiches. The staff were friendly and our food came out fairly quick. The presentation was really nice with each meal in its own individual carry out box. They even threw in a goodie bag for each of us with some candy and a sticker! I got the Lady Luck sandwich and tater tots and was really happy with my choice. The tots were nice and crispy and the sandwich was fresh and light, but still filling. Can't wait to go back and try out a hot dog!

$10+ for a mediocre sandwich? I don't recommend this place. It's so expensive for food you can make at home. Plus, my food took almost an hour to make which is ridiculous! I ordered one sandwich and when I thought I could finally eat, they got my order completely wrong. I had to return my food which sucked but they deserved it. Never coming back.

Great food, I had the pesto grilled cheese and my friend had the Caesar wrap, also delicious. The fries and tater tots were also great. Service was quick and they delivered right to our table at the octopus bar. Recommend!

I really wanted to love this, as I was a fan of Octopus Bar. Plus I wanted to support a local restaurant. I got the Lady Luck (but don't) and my fiancé got the Catamaran. I do not recommend either. For a veggie sandwich, this was so sparse, not enough avocado spread or goddess dressing to even moisten the bread, and a $6 sandwich at best. My fiancé had the wrong sandwich made for him and we had to go back. His was ok, but frankly we expected far far more for a $14 sandwich each. The service was great behind the counter, which is why this isn't a 1 or 2 rating. I will try again when Octopus reopens (drinks only, no food).

I was always intrigued by The Salty Shack's large wall menu every time I walked down 45th, and I'm so glad I tried it out! Even though the prices are a little on the expensive side for me, the food and drinks were worth it. We got the shark bait and all aboard sandwich. I didn't get to try the shark bait until about 10-15 minutes after I bought it, but even then the sandwich was still warm and the bread was crunchy! Both sandwiches had a lot of flavor, and the portions were great. I've noticed that how takeout food is packaged really affects the food's quality, and I can say that The Salty Shack does it right! Our food and drinks were efficiently packed, and the textures and temperature were still good when we ate them. They also provided a little goodie back with candy and a sticker with each sandwich, so that was a nice surprise! For cocktails, we got knot to shabby and into the abyss. Both were delicious! I especially liked the flavor combination in the knot too shabby. It was a good level of sweetness, I couldn't taste the alcohol, and it didn't taste like anything I've tried before. The cashier was also really patient and nice! I had a great experience and would go again!

Went one time and would never go again. Overpriced crappy sandwich. Especially now that I've learned first hand how rude the staff and owners are. Don't care at all about the neighborhood. Trash everywhere and noise violations all the time. All the other businesses in the neighborhood make an effort to be a good neighbor, not this place.

This is a cute new little take-out window off the sports bar next to the shut-down Guild Theater on 45th St. in Wallingford. There's a large menu covering the wall, and even a covered waiting area in the street. The menu has inventive and tasty spins on old classics, sandwiches, hot dogs, salads, and snacks. Fresh ingredients, with interesting twists. And fun, creative cocktails and other drinks (must be purchased with food for take-out). BUT, if you walk up and order at the window, you will be waiting in that covered waiting area far, far longer than is reasonable. No one else was there, we ordered 1 sandwich and 1 hot dog and HAD TO WAIT OVER 25 MINUTES STANDING OUT IN THE STREET for them. Heck, it even took a long time for someone to come to the window to take our order. So, I encourage you to try this place, but order ahead. Because they were inexplicably and agonizingly slow when we spontaneously stopped there on a walk through the neighborhood. Great food, sloooow service.

The food here is absolutely amazing both in carry out and delivered via Door Dash. All of the employees are so sweet. My favorite sandwich is the shark bait. I can't wait until the Octopus Bar is up and running again as well!

I wanted to try this place because I kept seeing A line. Unfortunately my 1st experience was terrible. My sandwich was dry, the bread seemed several days old. My tater tots were cold. I will give it one more chance.

Can't go wrong with the delicious food and cocktails to go. I've been able to stop by twice since they've opened and enjoyed a delicious sandwichs and a bloody Mary togo, I'll definitely be coming back in the future.

This place was super solid for lunch, good sandwiches and sides with a bit of candy for your sweet tooth. I'll never go for dinner for various reasons. 3 stars just for the hours because I had it in my lunch rotation and now I'm kind of upset.

So glad to see this place is open and still able to operate during COVID. They have gotten so creative and not only is the food super good, but the way it's delivered is so cool! Even little salty shack shark gummies as a complementary treat! Go support this business and their awesome staff and owners, you won't regret it!

This place makes those samwich artists at subway hang there head in shame and a plus if you can stay after a hard day's work you can grab a brew... The best beverage to compliment your masterpiece if layered happieness

Just tried the Salty Shack for lunch. Great sandwiches and huge! Cocktails in the can were cold and delicious. Great to see this incantation of the Octopus bar take off. We will be back.

I got the "All Aboard" sandwich and loved it! It had lots of ham and turkey, and the staff remembered to leave off the tomato. The tots were also delicious. Tents outside the service window were nice for staying dry in the rain.

This place is phenomenal. Owner and staff are among the best people I know. Food is delicious. French onion grilled cheese is one of my favorites. Fries are seasoned great.

I am so happy to see the owners of the Octopus and their staff to be back in the game. But you ask how was the food and drinks? Being a takeout window you are going to be limited on the menu. Primarily sandwiches, dogs and variety of fries and tots. I was very pleased with everything! And gluten free bread! Great spicy bloody Mary. A great addition and a very important step to bringing Wallingford back to life

two stars for lacking the creativity to take a sandwhich order when my phone was dead. god forbid this place ever has a real problem.

Seems like a great spot. I tried the Catamaran sandwich with tater tots, the flavor and the portion size was definitely there, and the takeout was a neat unboxing experience as far as a meal goes. I only waited 5 minutes for my order too!

It wasn't amazing but it was good! It was nice to have food while drinking and it was served pretty quick. The fries and the jalapeño poppers stole they show. They were 10/10. Drinks at octopus bar were yummy.

I had my order delivered via GrubHub and was so pleased with it! I got the tuna melt which was fantastic, a side ceasar salad, and a non-alcoholic mule which came with a sprig of rosemary and with ice in a can! Everything was delicious and the packaging was all recyclable, compostable, and the bag is definitely reusable. There was also a cute bag of sweets (gummy worm, lollypop) and a sticker. I'll definitely be a repeat customer--can't wait to try some of the other sandwiches and drinks!

How dumb do you have to be to open your sandwich business after lunch time. This place is never open when I try to go smh
