I've been wanting to try The Sardine Room for awhile and they did not disappoint!! Fresh seafood, oysters, and delicious craft beers...need I say more!! I love a good oyster bar so my friend and I decided to drop in for some oysters, drinks, and a bite to eat after yoga in the park. They're typically pretty busy but luckily there was no wait for indoor or outdoor seating when we visited around 7:30 pm on a Wednesday evening. I've noticed most restaurants in Downtown Plymouth have a longer wait for outdoor seating. The outdoor seating area is very pretty, especially at night with trees covered in fairy lights, lighting the streets. The indoor area was dim lit, moody, and atmospheric too. I could see it being a good date spot as well as a girl's night out. The menus are available with a QR code on the table. Oysters are priced based on region. East coast oysters were $20 for a half dozen and West coast oysters are $25 for a half dozen. Our sever said they were priced a little higher the day we went and they're usually around $19. You can also buy oysters individually for $3.50-$4.50 a piece. We ordered a half dozen East Coast oysters and split them. They were good but I think I might like the ones at Tom's Oyster bar a little more. I got more of a fresh salt water ocean flavor from the ones at Tom's. The oysters are served chilled on a bed of ice with lemon, and 3 sauces/garnishes: atomic cocktail sauce topped horseradish, an onion oil, and a pickle oil. The onion sauce was my favorite! It really brought out the natural flavor of the oyster best. The cocktail sauce was tasty but masked/overwhelmed the natural flavor of the oyster. For food my friend got the Green Goddess Grain bowl, which is brown rice, quinoa, wilted spinach, golden beets, avocado, pepitas, feta, green goddess dressing for $10. You can add shrimp, chicken or salmon for $6. She got the shrimp and they were huge pieces of perfectly cooked and seasoned jumbo shrimp. It looked fantastic and she said it was really good so I'll definitely be ordering this next time. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered off the ala-carte snack menu and got the blackened fish taco to go with my oysters. The fish taco is topped with pickled cabbage, smashed avocado, and smoky remoulade and is $5 for one large taco. The sauce was super tasty and it was a delicious taco!! They offer items for every budget. They had some other intriguing items on the snack menu like Brussels sprouts with pork belly, and panko crusted Mac and cheese, and clam chowder for $5-$6. They have a blue crab dip served with warm flatbread, cheese board, and mussels for $12-$13. They have larger dinner items too like pan seared scallops, jambalaya, shrimp and grits, and a fish fry for $15-$19. They also have a nice drink menu with lots of delicious looking cocktails, wines by the glass and bottle, and a great craft beer selection. My friend got the Transient Poppin Pastels sour ale with flavors of Blackberry, Raspberry, Lemon, Milk Sugar and Vanilla. They had some other appealing craft beers too like SINGLECUT BEERSMITHS KIM, a sour lager w/ hibiscus and black currant, URBAN ARTIFACT EPICUREAN peanut butter and raspberry jelly sour, and WHINER BEER CO. BLEU TUBsour saison ale w/ blueberries.
Sardine Room has a great Happy Hour every day from 4-6 pm with $1 buck a shuck oysters, $2 PBR beer, $3 hand cut fries, $5 house wine or cocktail of the day, $7 pulled pork sliders and more. I've also heard fantastic things about their brunch served on the weekends so I definitely need to come back for that too. I'll most likely stop in again next week after Pilates in the park. Can't wait for delicious drinks and seafood again! Yum!
