The Sauce Pizzeria

At 2 pm on Saturday afternoon we preordered dinner for pick up at 5:15 pm, paid on line and got a confirmation promptly. Our order was ready as requested, perfectly done. We are pizza purists, the plain pie was delicious. We also ordered an apple walnut salad which was made fresh, was very tasty, with enough left for a lunch. The staff at the Sauce are always pleasant and helpful. A perfect meal for a chilly evening in. Thank you!

Our favorite…The Sauce! The most delish pizza. My daughter absolutely loves (and she is a picky eater with everything). There is no pie that they can’t make for you. And for me being gluten free, they always take care of me and my tummy! Prices are great, ingredients are fabulous. Most importantly…they give back to the community and take care of everyone. They are family to us all!

Gemini was amazing and Cripsy crust !!!!! Sauce a 10/10 Trent needed 1 more min to get the same crispy ness but taste great. I’m a well done pizza lover. Crispy and tasty not burnt

I came here because I saw Dave give this an 8.1, but I have to say I was very let down. The taste itself was pretty average, maybe slightly above but nothing I’d go out of my way and pay for, which means it’s below a 7. I asked for it well done but it was still a little floppy in the middle. It was too oily and messy of an eat, and I had to uncomfortably power through it. It can be decent as a $2 slice but the $5 they charged is way too much. I still feel the oil sitting in my body 15 minutes later. I’d give it a 6.8 on taste alone, but of course other factors will drop the overall experience to below a 5 - unsatisfactory

Wow wow wow! Drove and hour and 20 mins after a co worker told me about this spot and it was soooo worth the drive. We got the Jersey devil, the Gemini, the terzetto and cheese steak egg rolls! Everything was flavorful and sooo crispy it’s not the floppy pizza it’s crispy and cooked perfectly. We couldn’t pick a favorite because it was all good! My co worker brought me the meatballs in once and the sauce was the best! I travel happily for food even out the state and to other country I’m a foodie and this pizza was the best I’ve ever had. (Pizza was mini size we got) also extremely friendly staff! I noticed the owner knows the regulars names and orders. They’re very busy which is a good sign ! A lot of ppl ordered ahead and were coming for pick up orders.

Honestly this could have been a 5 ish but… there was one spice carousal and this one couple had it, when me or someone else asked if they had red pepper or garlic they sicked us on that poor couple. Who gives the spice rack to people when it’s the only one. The staff didn’t care or where to dim to relize what they were doing. Was weird and wrong. Now you might say, they’re a small business give them a break!?! Total get that and I’m that guy to factor that stuff in. Why still do I harp on this, well 2 slices and a soda $14.98 omgoodness *** am I 100 years old now, no I am not. Over five bucks a slice and 3 plus for soda. No way. Minimum have 5 spice carousals The hot honey pepperoni was good, but I’ve had much better that didn’t cost that much. Don’t get me wrong the pizza was good, boarder line fire, having a sesame type crust yumm. But stupid staff and boldly high prices do not, and will not make a repeat visit here ever. If you don’t mind the negative stuff mentioned here, no stress you’re gonna love it. All things being even, the Food quality A+

I have order twice now from The Sauce since noticing them always packed when I am either on my way to the dog park or returning home from the dog park at Wolf Hill. Their pizza is the best I have had in the 36 years since returning to the area from my Army career. I first lived in Long Branch - to Howell - to Park Place in Ocean and now Eatontown. They have my order correct, they pack items well and following delivery instructions well as I have them deliver and not any of the delivery services (especially if it is Luis at Grub Hub who always delivers to the wrong location thus I no longer use them as I do not want to end up with him). My front door is in a location that is hard to find to a simpleton and many times I have had to fetch my order next door. The last time I ordered food items and a sub. I always write that I am allergic to onions - not dislike the taste but allergic. They have not ignored that yet as anything that is supposed to have onions - they are removed. The food items were well packed most importantly - arrived timely and tasted the best. They will be my new ordering place. I am just sorry that it took me a long time to find them.

Really great pepperoni pizza with hot honey! We’re exploring new pizza places and this is our first time here. The restaurant is accessible, but small, with a few tables and some high stools by the window. Everyone who works there is very nice. The menu is extensive, we tried 3 different slices. The pepperoni was the best. Crispy and crunchy on the edges.

Food was amazing, everything we ordered was fresh and tasted great!! Definitely try the grandma pie and the hot honey with pepperoni.

A chef friend recently brought 'Sauce' to my attention. I'll always try a plain slice first and it was pretty good. Stopped in a couple of times doing same and really liking it. Finally got a fresh pie last Friday night. Called it in as I picked up my son from the SeaStreak ferry. 45 minute to an hour wait. It's not a 45 minute drive back to Oakhurst, so I figure I'd check in, knowing that I was early and telling the counter person of same. It really is that busy, and that's for a reason. Decided there was no reason to drive home and then back, so my son and I just talked for the next 20 minutes. Meanwhile there's a constant stream of cars picking up their food. For a good reason too. I will always ask that they not slice it as it's going to be slid into a 450* oven back at the house for 3-4 minutes depending upon crust thickness. This is ONE EXCELLENT PIE! I was in again yesterday, and had a couple of margharita slices that had dollops of burrata on it. So good. I'm a real happy camper. This place is great.

After checking reviews, we decided to hit The Sauce. This is clearly a local favorite as people were in and out and being warmly greeted by the staff. They have a few tables inside and a few outdoor tables. They have bottled Pepsi products and we opted to try their popular pizzas. The Gemini and The Jersey Devil. One pie came out a lot faster than the other with no explanation. But (other than the sauce being thinner than I would like), both pies were excellent. Definitely a good spot.

I wasn't expecting such attentive and thoughtful service from this ocean side hole in the wall, but by the time I left I'd marked The Sauce Pizzeria as a must stop destination any time I'm hitting up the Jersey shore. For example, the cook could tell that we could handle real spice, so when we ordered a Spicy Diablo he said "If you want I'll make half of it with even more spice than what's on the menu". Boy did that spice deliver. It was the perfect way to warm up after coming in from the chilly beach. On a Detroit style pie, the Spicy Diablo has the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. If you are looking for sweet, get the "Gemini" pie. Don't be alarmed, it's not as sweet as dessert, but like biting into a fresh cherry tomato. It really works! Best part was that the owner says "I made your cheese pizza a little well done, so I'll give you another pie on the house". Just goes to show what an honest business it is, and I'm happy to remain a loyal customer for their kindness and generosity. The margarita was really interesting: the bottom was crusted with sesame seeds, which added a great flavor to the dish overall. I've never experienced this before. It's amazing to see a small pizza shop making some bold choices and redefining what a pizza can be, while still maintaining strong roots in traditional flavors. The magic truly is in "The Sauce"

Stopped in after a snow day, two great pies "The Gemini" & " Jersey Devil". Great owner, authentic spot with above average quality - must try ! Big reason why NJ Pizza is as good as it is, Barstool Dave would be all in.

First time there. Ordered half onion and bacon, and half sausage. Will go back again and try some specialty pie. On the weekends try to get there before 6pm to avoid long wait time.

So disappointed. Finally tried Sauce and two overcooked pizzas were delivered to us. The crust was black and I couldn't even fold the slice in half, it was cooked to a crisp. The cheese was so overcooked and dried out. Our kids wouldn't touch it. Such a waste of money and had to make dinner anyway.

Amazing Delicious and the tomato sauce was delicious.Chicken Parmigiana was delicious.Great service and clean

Got the Gemini with pepperoni, this was one of the better pies of pizza I had in a long time! The sauce was the best I've ever had on a pie hands down. Whatever they're doing here, they're doing gods work! Super friendly atmosphere as well, and quick service! I'll be sure to drive out of the way again to try more pies that they have to offer!

What can I say? A great pizzeria less then a block away! My wife called in the order and then I went and picked it up. We ordered the Grandma Medium size. The Sauce, Crust and Cheese was just amazing, they put a circle of pesto around the pie and WOW! What flavor!! My Wife had the Chicken Parm. Also amazing. she kept saying how delicious it was wile she was eating it. She also get the Cesear Salad and she just loved it. I saw the Crumcake and just had to get one.also Crazy good. The Sauce is a great new spot in Oceanport and you must give it a try.G

new spot with one of the best pies I've ever had. Dave Portnoy owes them a visit. The grandma pizza was insane but the eggplant parm literally blew my mind. Everyone in our group loved the options and the staff couldn't have been kinder. They even offered an older woman in front of us a free slice. That being said, definitely more of a grab and go spot since there is minimal seating. We will absolutely be back!

The pizza was wonderful! We also ordered a cheesesteak sandwich, needs different Italian bread, Nino's up the street Oceanport Avenue has the best italian bread You can go in there and buy or have them deliver. It would make sandwich so much better!!!!

Hands down the BEST pizza anywhere! Had the Gemini slices earlier and some of the BEST pizza I've ever had in my 45 years on earth! Owner is a really cool guy as well. Will drive from Atlantic Highlands for my pizza fix! Thank you The Sauce for making pizza GREAT again!!!

First takeout tonight from The Sauce... we had the jalapeno poppers, a buffalo chicken pie and a margarita pie... excellent! Family was also very pleased and excited... we look forward to sampling the rest of the menu... pizzas are great!

You may not get what you ordered, but at least it tasted good. If there is anything I hate more than getting my order wrong, it would be poor time management! Tell your customers that it will take longer than you think. Ergo, if you're slammed, tell them it will be 30 to 50 minutes. Not 20 to 25 and have them wait 45 minutes to an hour in your shop! A happy customer is a returning one.

Best pizza around! There's certainly no shortage of pizza in the area, but if you're looking for the best, look no further. Sandwiches and dinners are also great and everything I've tried on the menu has been incredible. Everything is fresh and they're definitely faster than everything else around. Staff is friendly and place is clean

After seeing a great story in the Asbury Park Press, we decided to give the Sauce Pizzeria a try. First, and surprisingly, when we called with questions before placing our order, it was so refreshingly nice to be greeted by somebody who was kind, helpful, patient and overall just wonderful! I am sure we drove him crazy but he never let it show. Our pizzas (NJ Devil, Nacho, regular) were AMAZING and we try every new pizza place that comes out...until now anyway because now we are HOOKED on Sauce Pizzeria! It was sooooooo good! I live in Middletown but have no problem making the short trek over to Oceanport if it means coming home with delicious pizza from Sauce! Thank you for an incredible experience!

I ordered the bar pie and shrimp scampi appetizer. Where to begin. First I was told it would take 45- 1 hour which is fine but 2.5 hours later and my bar pie is lukewarm and the beside for having no flavor all I could taste was the how burnt the bottom of the pizza was. This pie should have never made it out the door. The shrimp scampi app had no flavor I didn't even taste any hint of garlic as everyone should taste garlic in a scampi and it had no flavor, was also cold cause again it was 2.5 hours to get the food!!!!

I am in a pizza club and have gone to all the "Portnoy" places in NJ. This place easily ranks with the best. I was honestly shocked. As an added bonus, the owner, Jason, is a solid dude.

OUTSTANDING. Got the Gemini...the owner's comment as we left "Wait until you see that crust". 100% spot on. It was phenomenal.

The pizza is as good as you'll find in this area. However, what I was really impressed with was when they lost our ticket and didn't have my pie done in a reasonable time they made up for it by refunding my money and having it delivered free of charge. This type of stand up patronage is not often seen these days and will keep me going back.

Pizza is very good but my wife ordered a cold sandwich. the menu say's they serve Boar's Head meat but no no no this was nasty cheap cold cuts.

Went in to grab some dinner an hour before close with my sister. The window had some great choices, but the owner insisted on making us a pie to order so it would be as fresh as possible. Was in and out in 10 minutes and got to sample it straight out of the oven. It was absolutely delicious and I would recommend it to anyone. Not many place have both great service and phenomenal food. The Sauce is definitely a new favorite

Pizza and chicken parm sub were delicious! Can't wait to order from here again! Delivery came right on time too!
