The 14 Best Bars In South Beach

"ScapeGoat is another very small cocktail bar in South of Fifth, where you might see the bartender climb into the ceiling to fetch a bottle from the attic. The cocktails are good, but the atmosphere shifts depending on the time and day. Come early and you can have a relaxed conversation and a drink before dinner. On weekend nights, it can get a little crowded and loud enough that having a conversation might require mild yelling. It’s also a good place to kill time if you’re waiting for a table at Joe’s, which is just down the street." - ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino

Where To Meet For Drinks Before Dinner

"Before dinner at: Joe’s Stone Crab, Stubborn Seed, Sushi By Bou ScapeGoat is a very small cocktail bar in South of Fifth, where you might see the bartender climb into the ceiling to fetch a bottle from the attic in order to make a very tasty cocktail. Things can get a little rowdy here with the late-night crowd, but before dinner - or perhaps while killing time waiting for a table at Joe’s - you should be able to have a relaxed conversation and a great drink." - ryan pfeffer

Miami Bars With Holiday Rum Cocktails | Eater

"The trendy South-of-Fifth section of South Beach is packed with some of the city’s top restaurants, so it might be easy to overlook this hole-in-the-wall cocktail lounge. At the ScapeGoat, locals and curious tourists mingle over imported beer and interesting cocktails. The packed space almost makes it feel like winter up north, where patrons wedge themselves inside to escape the cold. Those wintry feelings will be quickly forgotten when you order a tropical Banana Boat, with Santa Teresa 1796, banana liqueur, cinnamon syrup lime juice, and angostura bitters." - Matthew Meltzer

The ScapeGoat Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"ScapeGoat is a cocktail bar in South of Fifth that serves pretty good cocktails, wine, and beer. It’s very small - and on the weekends, it gets loud and can be tough to have a conversation. But it’s a solid Happy Hour option or a good place to kill time if you’re waiting for a table at Joe’s, which is just down the street." - Ryan Pfeffer

Google
Legit one of my favorite bars in Miami. The vibe is immaculate, great lighting, amazing music, and the drinks…all their bartenders are truly talented. I go there as a solo woman all the time and always feel safe and comfortable. The owner truly cares and it shows.

Google
Up there with Cafe la Trova and Sweet Liberty for cocktail quality, maybe even better. Really friendly, passionate and knowledgeable staff. They're not cutting any corners here, even cutting and shaping the ice by hand. Drinks came out quick and looked beautiful. My only criticism would be that for a small place it was a bit too loud, and that made it hard to have a conversation - I think striking a good balance with the volume or adding some soft furnishings to absorb some of the echo would make this the best cocktail spot in South Beach.

Andrea Rodriguez

Google
such a cutie little spot that we were able to enjoy a drink before dinner! servers are super attentive and checked in quite often. would come again when i’m back in south beach :)

Google
Craft cocktail bar we found during our recent trip to South Beach. Off the beaten path on a side street and tucked away so you’ll probably have to seek the place out rather than stumble upon it. Small intimate spot with limited seating. The photos on line and menu looked appealing and what brought us to the bar. We got a Rose Petal and a Fancy George. The bartender advised that the drinks were strong and alcohol forward but we didn’t find that to be the case. The drinks were okay but came in small glasses and weren’t even full. The RosePetal didn’t taste like much of anything to me and the Fancy George was tastier but still nothing special. We finished our drinks and moved on.

Really good cocktails and a friendly bartender👍🏻

Google
Super boujee cute little bar. We are walking around the area and stumbled upon their Happy Hour sign outside (5pm-8pm). The drinks were amazing we had a Paloma and Manhattan, made by Max M. He is very friendly and have great energy. At our check out he mentioned that the 18% gratuity is included, unlike the other restaurants & bars, they won't. We appreciated people like him. It definitely would make you wanna tip more, which we did. Ambiance is super chill and great playlist. Will definitely go back.

Google
Tom is the worst bartender I ever met. I came in, sat down, and ordered a drink from him. Then he walked away and never made my drink. Came up to me 5 minutes later and said he decided to serve a table and someone else is going to make my drink. I left and went around the corner to Lucky Cat restaurant/ bar. Lucky Cat was upscale and had great service!

Google
Nicely decorated, welcoming bar with classic and more creative drinks. Bartender was very kind and made excellent cocktails!

Yelp
A really great spot to get a drink or three if you're in the area. Actually, even if you're not in the area, you should go by. We stopped by here for a pre-dinner drink, and I was able to try a couple happy hour drinks since their happy houris is offered daily from 5-8 PM. And again from 1-3 AM. That tells you that not only is it a good spot for the earlier evening, but it will be there for you for that late evening. They have a handful of classic cocktails on their happy hour menu for $10 each. I tried a daiquiri and honestly think it may be one of the best ones that I've had. This is coming from someone who actually learned how to make a classic daiquiri during the pandemic. If I can't make as good as this one myself, I might as well get it here. The daiquiri was fresh and flavorful without being overly sweetened. I was also able to get an old-fashioned before we had to leave. It is carefully and solidly made, despite the use of a well bourbon. The use of a clear ice cube always commands my respect. The whole place is quite small, with four or five hightop tables surrounding the bar. We ducked in after dinner and found it was pretty packed, mainly because it doesn't take a lot of people to get it full. You will get a mix of visitors from out of town and some locals, but the local feel is definitely there. The finished wood decor and soft lighting, along with an ever-changing playlist of different genres (maybe chill beats earlier, hip hop later in the night) make for a comfortable place to get a drink, no matter what kind of night you want to have. Kenny the bar manager is well-versed in his cocktails and was pleasant to chat with as he served up our drinks. If you go by, and I hope you do, say hi to him for me!

Yelp
We went to this place as a nightcap and the bar got progressively packed as the night went on. Around 11 pm on a Friday this place was bumping! The drinks here were very unique and fit the vibe of the cocktail bar. Seating is limited but not too bad

Yelp
Clinton was such a sweetheart and a great bartender. The drinks were amazing. I got the Buy Myself Flowers and it was so good. My friend got the TNT punch and it was delicious as well. Love the music choices, it was a millennial playlist for sure.

Yelp
Small cozy bar with welcoming vibe. Loved my French 75 for Happy Hour! The list of Happy Hour Cocktails is small but they are made fresh with lots of love.

Olivia M.

Yelp
Awesome place! Great atmosphere, fantastic drinks, and super cool bartenders. Definitely give it a try!

Ruth M.

Yelp
Drinks were so good! The fenet-bout-it was the bomb. The crack a coconut tasted like vacation - could drink that all day. Fun vibes and the bartender was cute too. Wish they had Friday HH

Yelp
Scape Goat is an awesome little cocktail bar found down in the South Pointe area. And when I say little I mean tiny but in a great way. We stopped in after a great meal at Joe's Stone Crab for a few drinks at night. Scape Goat is small enough they can handle everything with just two people, and they did a great job. Kenny was a fantastic bartender and the bar-back was great as well. Not as much of a clubby vibe as a few places we stopped in around Miami Beach, more of a classy/relaxed vibe. We had the Black Magic and Hemingway Daiquiri's first and they were good, but next we had the French Martini and Sazerac that were absolutely perfect. I think we could have watched Kenny make drinks all night. Great spot, convenient to a few top tier restaurants such as Joe's and Carbone. Definitely worth a stop at The Scape Goat.

Yelp
My group and I wanted to check out Story but decided not to when we heard how much cover was for an artist no one was that into. We decided to go get a nightcap at Scape Goat. It's a cute bar with lively music and it was also HH when we arrived around 1AM. We all ordered the French Martini for $10/each. Wow, the drink was decent with fruity flavors coming from the pineapple and raspberry. There was also enough alcohol in there for a good buzz! I highly recommend Scape Goat to pregame. It was fun and I wish we were going somewhere after!

Yelp
Amazing experience here!!! I came with a group for my bachelorette party and were lucky to have snagged the last table in the front--we'd just come from dinner, so it wasn't yet too late in the night. Upon sitting down and getting menus, we were immediately served rounds of espresso martini shots, courtesy of the bartenders since they knew we were celebrating. That truly set the tone for the night! We had SO much fun! Ended up staying for hours, and I'm glad we took advantage of our table for that long because it got so busy soon after our arrival. I would highly recommend coming here!! Maybe come between 9-10 before it gets super crowded.

Yelp
Cattycorner to Carbone, this cozy cocktail bar was recommended by our captain for a perfect after dinner nightcap. The spot is dimly lit and the soundtrack is varied, loud and perfect to keep the party going. They have seating at the main bar, a couple of couches as well as hightops which is where we sat to celebrate a birthday. The menu has "fancy shots", classics as well as sweeter dessert drinks. We started with the Snaquiri (essentially a mini mojito) for me and Cecilia enjoyed her Tazita (espresso martini). Since it was her birthday, these smoothly blended and strong shots were comped. Our main courses., as it were, were the "Tuxedo" for birthday girl and the "Tia Maria" for me. My Tia Maria was a great blend of aged rum and curaçao and the mezcal gave it the right amount of sweet. Although I'm not a gin fan, the tuxedo I sampled definitely had a bite. I wonder if the absinthe led to some "interesting" conversations :)

Yelp
Ariete is one of my favs so I was excited that my buddy suggested we check out Scape Goat from the same group. We took some citi bikes from his place so when we got there we were a little warm. I was looking forward to cooling off with a beverage. They had the open aire thing going which is fine, but there was only two fans I saw and they were pointed at the ceiling. There was no air moving and it was so hot. We pushed through and got some cocktails. My buddy was excited to show off their cocktail prowess, but since it was cinco de mayo, they were on a limited menu. I got a mezcal old fashioned and was reminded very quickly how smokey mezcal is. To be honest, neither of us loved our drinks so we closed out and moved on to another spot. I would gladly come back to give it another go, but this time wasn't it for us.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute worst service. The attitude from the bartenders is appealing, they don't know how to talk to someone and the drinks are terribly made. Avoid
google avatar

Jilli B.

Yelp
This has been my favorite neighborhood spot for years but something has been off lately. Under new management or something? The music and whatever cocktail I last ordered were quintessential touristy Miami, whereas this used to feel like an escape from all of that. The things I previously loved about Scapegoat were the craft cocktails and hipster 80s music played at an appropriate volume. Something has changed :(
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
Came in for a drink since we were in the area. Happy hour is until 8 PM! Their HH drinks are pretty classic (Paloma, French 75, etc) and are $10 each. They also have some beer/wine selections available. The vibe is good for friends and dates. It's dark and cute inside. Parking is limited to a couple of parking lots around. But they're not a far walk. TLDR: a cute place to grab a drink after work or before dinner.
google avatar

David A.

Yelp
The Scape Goat is the coolest little cocktail bar in Miami. The bartenders are great, service is always super on point, music playlist is always phenomenal. Some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Super cool chill little spot by the beach, but off the beaten path a bit so you aren't surrounded by obnoxious tourists. 10/10
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Tiny bar, cool vibe and great service. Our cocktails were delicious. Stop by if you are in the area but wouldn't make a special trip. Cheers!
google avatar

Marni M.

Yelp
Came here for a round of drinks on a Tuesday night to find them about half full. There were waves of people entering and leaving throughout the time we were there so I can imagine how popular they must be on the weekend. The bartenders are proud to provide artisan drinks and can change up the order on a whim, you just have to ask. It's an almost gothic-like vibe with the broken glass ceiling and dark decor. The rhythmic music further added to the effect. Overall, we had a wonderful time with our cocktails while getting to know all the people around us. Highly recommend checking them out.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Came here to pre drink before dinner across the street and was delighted to come across such a place. I had the penicillin drink which was 10/10 and has converted me into a whiskey sour girl. We were so pleased with our drinks that we came back after dinner for more drinks. The vibe in this place is amazing: pretty low key and chill. Their location is small so wouldn't recommend for a large group. The bartender was super cool and attentive.

Chris P.

Yelp
The moment I walked into The Scape Goat I thought - oh this is my kinda place. Speakeasy vibe, strong cocktail menu, great tunes. But this place has one big problem ... The cocktails are terrible. I ordered an Old Fashioned and a French 75. Two cocktails I've had dozens of times. And they were just wrong. Get some new bartenders and turn this place around.
google avatar

Yelp
Very small bar at the south end with great vibes. 3 tables (4 seats each), bar seating (9 seats), 2 corner couches by the door (5 seats each). Great drinks, great music, great vibes. I had the banana boat (pictured) and my girlfriend had the Little Window (also very good, like an expresso martini). Our bartender was Clinton and he was fantastic; Super prompt and friendly! The Banana Boat was easily the best banana-flavored cocktail I've ever had. I will 100% be back here next time I'm in Miami, it was such a good time and the bartenders were great too. They light the cinnamon on fire as they dust it on top of the Banana Boat so it was nice to know they go the extra mile for everyone. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a cool late-night spot for drinks in Miami Beach. I should mention the Banana boat was a special the night I went, but if it's ever available it's a must-have if you like banana.

Seth T.

Yelp
The drinks and service are amazing. Highly recommend!! The happy hour is great too, but their specialty cocktails are where it's at!
google avatar

Lynette B.

Yelp
Great cocktails, decent happy hour, good playlists going and usually a local crowd on weeknights. Love to hang at this spot and chat it up with the bartenders and locals. Really cool vibe. I usually leave when it starts to get busy because I like to just chill and savor my drinks without a large crowd, especially during these crazy times. Definitely a place I take all my friends when visiting the beach.

David J.

Yelp
The bartender was amazing. She was the entertainment and still managed to get everyone drunk lol
google avatar

Jacqueline P.

Yelp
Kinda shocked to be giving this highly recommended bar a 2 star, but it really is just a 2 star spot in the hype of Ocean Drive. Instagram really plays some trickery with how it portrays this place to be a classy bar. First off, it's tiny so not an easy place to grab a drink on a weekend. We sat outside, totally fine, but there was only one server. He came & took the order for 2 tables beside us and I attempted to make eye contact since he knew we were waiting to order a drink, too. He then glances back, we make eye contact, he walks over and says " I felt someone looking at me like what the fuck" Uhmm, sorry I wanted to order a drink before you went inside? Anyways, ordered 2 classic old fashioneds and had high hopes- not a chance. They were by far the worst drinks I've ever had, no exaggeration.

Debbie S.

Yelp
Awesome environment and service with amazing cocktails. #IYKYK you will not be disappointed!

Kenny A.

Yelp
Great ambiance, great music, great service, great drinks and great team. One of my favorite bars on South Beach

Mike A.

Yelp
Went in with some visitors from out of town. We just wanted a few shots of a specific tequila. The bartender came over to the table and RIPPED us off. He said he didn't have the tequila and gave us a different one. 4 shots cost us over $120. I didn't make a scene because was with a group. Never going back in there. Ghetto
google avatar

Veronica P.

Yelp
The bartenders are all very personable, creative with their cocktails, and the overall vibe in the bar is fun. This has quickly become one of my favorite bars in Miami. You have a new regular
google avatar

Cecilia P.

Yelp
Cute small bar. Great cocktails..dimly lit with a cool ambience. My friend and I started off with the shots which are slightly bigger than shots. Which honestly should've been where we stopped but we ordered full size cocktails the shots were delicious, my cocktail was not sweet enough for me unfortunately.
google avatar

Diandra L.

Yelp
I am so happy I finally made it to The Scape Goat! Breaking news alert that I'm a fan of all the ark hospitality concepts (Ariete, Chugs Diner, Nave, Taurus) and this is the only spot of theirs I had not visited - until Saturday night! This is a cute, cozy bar south of Fifth that is serving up delicious cocktails, great vibes, and they also offer Yelp Cash Back so you can get cash back for drinking cocktails...SIGN.ME.UP! One of my fave bartenders, Gardenia, left Ariete and came here and she is a total gem. Super friendly, will help you find exactly what you're looking for, and always lovely to chat with if you're posted up at the bar solo. Recently, the bar updated its drink menu thanks to Bobby Gilardi aka @ChampangeBobby__ and while I can't speak for the drinks before, the ones I had last weekend were great. Cheers to the goat for being a total gem on SoBe.
google avatar

Yelp
A diamond in the rough, Scape Goat is the best place to get a cocktail in South Beach. They don't have any of the tacky flavor of Ocean Ave, or neon lights, they just have expertly mixed cocktails from a fun group of bartenders who really know their stuff. The space is dimly lit to set the mood with great music to get you feeling good. The space around the bar is nice, especially since they kept the door open to let fresh air roll in. They also have an outdoor seating area if that's your preference. For drinks, they can make all the classics, plus there are some signatures to peruse. My wife says their dirty martini is great but potent, while I tried one of the specialties, the Little Window, an espresso and amaro cocktail that was deceptively smooth and so delicious. We enjoyed them so much we came back three times in two weeks.
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Great cocktails, from classics to their specialty menu, anything you order is great. If you like beer, chose a different place. While do have some beer, the selections is small. It is a cocktail bar, and a good one. Very difficult to find places like this in Miami that only cater to mixology, are not inside a restaurant and opens late. Great place for pre-party, after dinner drinks, after party drink. They open at 5 and close at 3 am. Cozy place too with friendly bar tenders.
google avatar

Aubrey M.

Yelp
Loved the vibes of this bar! Inside is small and cozy. We sat in the booth seats by the windows with lots of pillows. The music was was really good too! Definitely was pulling in people from the street. Came for the happy hour and stayed for the quality drinks! The happy hour is until 8pm, even on a Friday! There are a small selection of cocktails for $10 each. The drinks were strong and delicious. I recommend the Russian spring punch.
google avatar

Michlle B.

Yelp
We loved this place. It gave me the San Francisco home feel with the dark moody ness it offers up. As much as we loved the atmosphere we loved the drinks even more. It's been a minute since I had a good whisky sour and this one hit that spot. I also got one of their espresso shots and it did not let me down. The service here is great as well. All around a great place to stop at and have a drink.

Steve P.

Yelp
Great little place, nice bartenders and we had a delicious Rye Manhattan! Good spot in #sofi
google avatar

Brandon V.

Yelp
Came here around noon to pregame before Nikki beach. Ordered drinks with the guys and the bartender hooked us up with groomsman shots. I highly recommend this place.

Stephen B.

Yelp
Staff needs to do better and understand the clients it's a neighborhood bar and that should reflect on the neighborhood
google avatar

Luis G.

Yelp
Came through for a birthday last night and had myself a deja vu visiting this place - it was known as "The Room" several years ago when I first came through, and I was excited to visit a known gem again after a long time. The place is exactly the same and the drinks are great, this is the perfect example of a low-key neighborhood hangout that is unpretentious and enjoyable. The kind of spot you wanna come with your closet friends and just vibe, kick off a night out with friends, bring a date or even kick it on the solo (which I love to do). MAJOR PLUS: Saturday Happy Hour from 5-7! Glad to have found myself here again, looking forward to coming back soon + more often!
google avatar

Leah O.

Yelp
The best drinks in town! Small quaint spot wit awesome music and bartenders!! Their cocktails are sooo yummy!
google avatar

Jesse C.

Yelp
Excellent spot to stop by and have a drink either before or after your night out. Always cool people here always good conversations. I hate that they took away the outdoor seating but I know that's not up to the business but the city. This spot will always be on my local bar hop list.

Alana Z.

Yelp
Great service and ambiance. Drinks are pricey but worth it! An automatic tip is taken which is 20%.
google avatar

Jeff P.

Yelp
This is a cozy bar in the South Beach area that we happened into on a Friday night. First impressions were mixed. The bar was excessively loud. My friend and I found it difficult to hear each other talk, and it took a while for the bartenders to finally get around to us. Eventually we were able to order our first round of drinks, which were pretty good. Nothing amazing, but satisfying enough to go for round two. However, this time around I got their signature "Hickory Smoked" cocktail. This is essentially an old fashioned that has the glass smoked beforehand, which costs $2.50 extra. Not worth it. It gave us a pretty good laugh though when we saw it on our receipt. If a tight, loud atmosphere is your type of thing, you may actually enjoy it here. As for me, I'll probably look elsewhere next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Miguel T.

Yelp
Very cute bar! Felt very New York. Drinks were awesome and the staff was friendly. Definitely would recommend.

Neiv T.

Yelp
This place is such a hidden gem. The espresso martini was made with love. Low key spot that has great vibes. Marvin and Kenny were awesome.
google avatar

Christine B.

Yelp
Probably my favorite place we visited while in Miami. In a quieter part of town, this is a great starting point for the night. They have amazing drinks and David, the bartender made our trip with his friendly, upbeat personality and a list of incredible recommendations. This bar uses the coffee from the Window next door to make a couple of their drinks and so we found an incredible spot for a cafecito as well! We will be back :)
google avatar

Brad B.

Yelp
The atmosphere is relaxed dope. Mac Miller or Talib is playing, its dark, laid back, and the drinks are on point. Like a lounge that you don't want to tell people about, because then the lines get outrageous and it's not what it was.
google avatar

Marie A.

Yelp
Loved this bar - Asked for a dealers choice / gin and alcohol forward and thought he read my diary. It was perfection and I wanted seconds. We stopped by for a nightcap but I was hooked and will definitely be back. There was a spacious outdoor seating setup - it was the perfect place to end a night
google avatar

Charles L.

Yelp
Haven't been been to the Goat in a long time Since the Girl Bartenders S&G. The Vibe has gone down hill There is no more fun factor. Also please be careful the new bartender thought he would try to charge us for 2 extra drinks when he didn't even pour them. Bobby please take note it wasn't a cool way to end the night.
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
Go ask Alex for a dealer's choice. He made us the most amazing cocktails. We're from Chicago and came for one cocktail- now we're closing the place and we want to come back. This place is incredible because of the talented and creative bartenders. Bougie b's from Chicago in terms of cocktails... the real deal is here.
