"Reopened after an extensive multi‑year renovation completed in 2023, this oceanfront lodge on dramatic coastal bluffs has been restored as a welcoming central gathering place that honors the original Sea Ranch modernist vision. The main building contains a restaurant (The Dining Room), café, bar, fireside lounge, general store, and post office, plus a solarium and a deck with Adirondack chairs ideal for sunset watching. Seventeen newly redesigned rooms feature ocean-facing views, king beds, kitchenettes, fireplaces, and large window seats; the property also offers vacation rental homes and a glamping program in partnership with Shelter Co. for weddings and retreats. The café serves coffee, cold brew and breakfast items (popular picks included a breakfast sandwich, frittata, and strawberry shortcake), while the restaurant focuses on locally sourced dishes such as chicken with pommes frites and wild salmon with greens; the bar is noted for well-executed cocktails enjoyed by the fire or on the patio. "Originally constructed in 1963 on a former sheep farm as a gathering spot for residents in the area, the iconic architectural gem was masterminded by Lawrence Halprin, Al Boeke, Joseph Esherick, and design group MLTW. The Lodge—surrounded by jaw-dropping views of misty-covered jagged cliffs—was completely overhauled by San Francisco–based firm NicoleHollis with 17 revamped rooms echoing calming and earthy hues in the adjacent rugged coast with wooden walls; freestanding midcentury-inspired fireplaces; upholstered window benches; woven wall hangings; and organic bath products by Bathing Culture.
