Atlanta-Based the Select Open in Charleston | Eater Carolinas

"Opening Friday, July 5, the Select at 465 Meeting Street brings a Parisian-brasserie sensibility to Charleston inspired by Le Select. Owner Dave Green, who first opened the restaurant in Atlanta’s Sandy Springs, envisioned a space where customers put their phones down and reconnect, a goal echoed by managing partner Jennifer Bresnahan: “Nowadays, we’re all attached to our phones… We don’t look up. We don’t interact. We don’t have conversations outside the digital world. Dave wanted to create a place where people put their phones down and come in to meet people and enjoy the ambiance — and the food is really well done.” The Art Deco–inspired dining room has warm wood walls, plush green banquettes, glowing chandeliers and is anchored by a large statue named Veronique, while the bar room features flowers cascading from the ceiling toward a zinc-topped surface that will likely be an Instagram fixture. Culinary director Julian Parker offers new American dishes with global influences — lobster and shrimp linguini, steak frites, braised short ribs, and roasted chicken with Southern succotash — on a seasonally changing but approachable menu. Service hours will be Monday–Thursday 4 p.m.–10 p.m., Friday–Saturday 4 p.m.–11 p.m., and Sunday 4 p.m.–10 p.m." - Erin Perkins

We had such a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent, and the service matched it. While visiting Charleston on vacation, we loved the welcoming atmosphere, great music at just the right volume, so conversation was easy. Our server was patient and attentive, and the owner even came by to personally thank our group for dining there. Next time I’m in Charleston, I’ll definitely be back!

If you're looking for a place for brunch do not pass this place up. It gave all the vibes I was looking for, for my birthday trip to Charleston. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and sat quickly. It was our servers first day doing brunch but she did well. The decor and ambiance is amazing. Our food was absolutely yummy and I had one of the best cups of coffee. Don't skip the banana bread.

What an amazing place! The waitress was polite and friendly! As busy as they were our food came out fast, warm and delicious! The atmosphere was so cute with their flowers above the bar lighting up and moving! The live music was nice to hear in the background while enjoying a drink! A must visit when in Charleston!

Had a phenomenal experience here! Great service, food, and a great atmosphere! The wedge salad , tuna, burger, and umami fries were all great! As locals, there are tons of great places to eat but not many that compare on all levels. The owner was even making his way around to visit all the tables. Pretty impressive! Will definitely return.

Absolutely loved The Select in Charleston South Carolina. We were thrilled to find out they are opening one in Charlotte!! The owner David came around! He was super friendly and engaging. Our server Ali was the star of the show! Super fun, knew the menu and gave us top notch service!!! The food and drinks were incredible. They had a great cocktail menu and wine list by the glass and bottle. The ginger margarita was delicious. So refreshing and full of flavor. We ordered a whole bunch of appetizers, mains and sides. Lobster arancini was crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. The tuna tataki was a special. Perfectly cooked and came with crisps and avocado. The baguette tasted like we were in Paris. The wedge salad might have been the best I’ve ever had. Delicious homemade blue cheese dressing. So fresh and crispy! And the bacon was fire! The Caesar was also fresh and full of Parmesan. The only thing we didn’t like were the duck meatballs. They were very dry. Our meals were also top notch - Miso sea bass was perfect, the wild boar rags was al dente and full of meat and flavor. The trout was also delicious. Sides were so fantastic- Mac and cheese with bacon, umami fries were crispy and saucy, the Brussels were cooked perfectly with tons of flavor. Dessert was also incredible- the toffee pudding had a perfect consistency, the cheesecake was creamy and had a delicious thick graham cracker crust and the chocolate cake (chefs kiss)…. Will definitely come back when I’m in town.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This place is absolutely fantastic! Not only is it large, and beautiful, but it also has live music that sets the perfect atmosphere. The flowers that open and close over the bar are such a unique touch, and the restaurant itself is spacious and stunning. From the moment we walked in, the staff was amazing. The owner personally welcomed us with open arms, and we were seated immediately. Our drinks were fantastic, and the ceviche was top-notch. The chef even came out to greet us and chat—a wonderful personal touch that made the night even more memorable. Every detail of the décor is so thoughtfully done, making the whole experience unforgettable. We came in with a good-sized group and every single one of us was pleasantly surprised and impressed. This is now one of my favorite spots in Charleston! Be sure to make a reservation and get in soon—you won’t be disappointed. This place is a whole vibe. The owner, Danny is bringing farm to table, made from scratch dishes and blending it with a ridiculous bar and a great band. Whether you want a 5 star dinner or a night out for killer drinks and music. This place is a MUST if you visit Charleston.
