"Opening Friday, July 5, the Select at 465 Meeting Street brings a Parisian-brasserie sensibility to Charleston inspired by Le Select. Owner Dave Green, who first opened the restaurant in Atlanta’s Sandy Springs, envisioned a space where customers put their phones down and reconnect, a goal echoed by managing partner Jennifer Bresnahan: “Nowadays, we’re all attached to our phones… We don’t look up. We don’t interact. We don’t have conversations outside the digital world. Dave wanted to create a place where people put their phones down and come in to meet people and enjoy the ambiance — and the food is really well done.” The Art Deco–inspired dining room has warm wood walls, plush green banquettes, glowing chandeliers and is anchored by a large statue named Veronique, while the bar room features flowers cascading from the ceiling toward a zinc-topped surface that will likely be an Instagram fixture. Culinary director Julian Parker offers new American dishes with global influences — lobster and shrimp linguini, steak frites, braised short ribs, and roasted chicken with Southern succotash — on a seasonally changing but approachable menu. Service hours will be Monday–Thursday 4 p.m.–10 p.m., Friday–Saturday 4 p.m.–11 p.m., and Sunday 4 p.m.–10 p.m." - Erin Perkins
