I’m sure this place is great on some days, but I went on a very busy Saturday morning. The problem wasn’t that it was so busy but it seemed like the workers were having a hard time staying afloat while it was so busy. I’ve worked the industry so I get it. I ordered a black coffee, which is pretty much impossible to mess up, and a bagel. The bagel was terrible. Not only was the bagel gross and mushy but I got it cold. I was perplexed as to why they would hand me a cold bagel with a small cup of regular cream cheese. So I got back in the enormous line and asked them to cook it. They then politely pointed me towards a toaster. The toaster sucked. It didn’t work so after 10 minutes of trying to toast my bagel I gave up and just ate my warm bagel. Not the best experience. Probably wouldn’t get anything here except coffee. You’d be better off in a hotel lobby to be quite honest. Nice atmosphere tho so that’s a plus. The prices are very low as well.

My iced latte was really bitter. My partner said his hot latte tasted over-roasted, like the coffee was burned. Food was good, loved the huge selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Restaurant is accessible, one gender nuetral restroom. Loved that they had a pride flag and queer looking staff, but based on the coffee, we will not be returning.

Tasty breakfast with cozy, comfortable vibes and friendly service. Clearly marked vegan menu/options.

A Tinder date from last night took me here for breakfast and coffee. I enjoyed the food and she did too. I had the vegan breakfast burrito and an ice coffee and she had some quiche with a regular hot coffee. The food was pretty good for sure. The coffee felt kinda off though with an after taste. Not a big deal tbh. The people were friendly too. Plenty of space to eat and drink and I think I saw there was an outdoor section too. You bus your own table which isn't a problem at all and they had a large selection of food and drinks. Very artsy place, you know? But I'm docking 2 stars, 1 for the coffee (which again not a big deal and I can be kinda picky with my coffee tbh) and another for them trying to infringe on my 2nd ammendment rights with their goofy coffee store sign. I'd let a Tinder / Bumble / Hinge date buy me food here. Not sure if I'd come by myself though. Either way, I'd imagine most would enjoy it here.

Despite inches of snow blanketing the streets, this café stood out as a beacon of warmth and hospitality, staying open when others were closed. The lively ambiance, complete with vibrant art and charming décor, creates a welcoming vibe. It's a fantastic spot to enjoy a well-crafted coffee while getting some work done.

As a vegan traveler, finding quality plant-based options in Savannah can be a challenge, and unfortunately, The Sentient Bean falls short of expectations. While it's nice to have another restaurant with vegan options in the area, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. The oatmeal I tried was disappointing. For the price, I expected something more flavorful and satisfying. Honestly, I feel like I could whip up something better using the hotel kitchen. If you're in a pinch, it might be worth a visit, but don't set your hopes too high. There are bike racks at this location.

Google
Nice place to grab a quick bite or coffee/tea. The egg frittata was filling and I also enjoyed an americano. Strawberry matcha special was good, but not the best I’ve had. Reasonably priced!

Looking for a good coffee to start your day? This is a great spot to enjoy an amazing breakfast ! Howdy from Texas y'all !

Yelp
Nice coffee shop near Forsyth Park. We had 20 oz lattes and a couple breakfast items. The lattes were nicely done and the feta and herb scone was a perfect savory bite. The peach bar was also really tasty. Line moved quickly and we had our coffees in just a few minutes. Chill atmosphere with works by local artists around. There is a patio in the back and a lot of table seating indoors. Bathroom is a little strange. It seems like it started off with a graffiti inspired mural by a local artist then morphed into your traditional bathroom graffiti wall.

Yelp
Not great, not good. We tried the peach tea and the raspberry matcha with almond milk -- both were bland and lacked any real flavor or purpose. The cheese quesadilla was decent, but honestly, if you can find another spot, go there instead. This one's not worth it. And the ambiance was blah! Two stars for the quesadilla and the girl that helped us was sweet.

Yelp
I was excited for a plant based breakfast spot before we left town, left disappointed. The staff is "pleasant" enough but would not be confused for welcoming or solicitous. I'm pretty sure the iced latte was just iced coffee with cream, especially considering how quickly it came out. The vegan breakfast burrito was edible but nothing to seek out and seriously, what kind of breakfast place does not have ketchup?? Strangely they do not allow pets inside and are also very strict about where you should line up to order (when you're the only one in line) but completely fine with a half dressed non patron occupying the only bathroom for a solid 25 minutes. Do yourself a favor, walk around the corner to Alexander's Bistro, they have a vegan option and a very friendly staff. Bathrooms appeared to be reserved for those eating in the restaurant as well.

Yelp
Decent. Had cold brew and an iced latte. Reminds me of Starbucks. Cafe is kid friendly and less expensive then most coffee shops
google avatar

Garret H.

Yelp
Coffee was great, Nice atmosphere and pretty busy but the line moved fast. Ordered the banana walnut slice and it was good. However it was cold and I would have liked it better heated in a microwave but didn't see one and they seemed too busy to ask.

Jay C.

Yelp
The Owner is terrible to their emplyees. I would appreciate if they do better with respecting the community they have.

Yelp
Person taking our order did not seem to be paying attention. Rang my partner and I up separately even though we told her we were together. The counter person asked for a name for order. We sat down to wait for our drinks. My partners drink was called out not by his name but by his order. There were two drinks on the counter. We waited and waited and one point one of the baristas gestured to the drinks in a rude way. I approached the counter and asked if one of the drinks were mine. She said yeah it's the lemonade of the day. I ordered an iced tea. I was confused and expressed that, but was just stared at. Very uncomfortable interaction.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Casual, comfortable coffee spot. The drinks themselves are good, not great. It was the only coffee shop that open early in the area on Sunday morning but it was not my favorite coffee by any means.
google avatar

Natalie H.

Yelp
VIBES. Cute little neighborhood coffee shop with a great selection of coffee beans and tea. And pleasantly surprised that I came on an open mic night. Again. VIBES. Atmosphere is cozy. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Kudos on the lavender blueberry poppy loaf.

Yelp
We came in primarily for coffee, since our Airbnb host failed to provide some in our first morning in Savannah after flying in late the night before. We were nicely attended after a short queue line. We both ordered 20 ounce hot Café lattes, and I also ordered their cheese omelette, and a slice peach cake and a slice of their sunflower bar, the last one to go. Really good coffee, delivered to our table just a few minutes later. I devoured the cheese omelette, which was quite tasty, and we shared the peach cake. We left quite satisfied, as renewed sentient beings!

Yelp
This bagel was divine. The cheese adds a melty richness that complements the eggs, it melted into nooks and crannies of the eggs, creating a gooey, flavorful cohesion that elevates the sandwich beyond the sum of its parts. Sentient bean really seems to know how to cater to those who appreciate breakfast staples done right, without overcomplicating flavors.

Yelp
Great spot right off Forsyth Park courts area... traditional style coffee house that has good quality coffee as well as great veggie fare. The omelet is quality & doesn't set you back at around $7 bucks for a few toppings Pro tip - their backyard patio (pictured) may be one of the most underrated spots to chill out in all of Savannah Good vibes from the staff make this a desirable place
google avatar

Yelp
A great little coffee shop and cafe across from Forsyth Park. Free parking nearby, tasty drinks and good food. We stopped in on a weekday morning to caffeinate as we planned our day. The basic drip coffee was good and got the job done. I also got a vegetarian breakfast burrito which really hit the spot. We sat outside on the back patio to slowly and deliciously start our day before exploring the city. I would absolutely return here and it is nicely situated across from a tourist highlight so you'll likely be nearby if you are visiting Savannah.
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place a better rating because they have a great location near Forsyth park but I would not recommend coming here. First off, this is a vegan café so there are no meat options. Secondly, the cashier had G-string panties on which were visible and came off as unsanitary to me if she pulls them up throughout the day. Coffee was mid - at least it was cheap though. Their lattes might be better but due to the uncomfortable seating and better coffee shop options available I probably WONT be coming back. So sorry! I'll be happy if I hear things change.

Yelp
I was headed to the store next door and this coffee shop caught my attention. It was so packed on a Thursday at like 10 am. I had to go in and check it out. It's a cute little place. There are lots of places to sit and hang out for a while. There are a few seats outside as well. One of the employees told me all the cups, lids etc are all biodegradable. I thought that was pretty cool. I didn't feel the lid was flimsy or less than like some products like that can be. I ordered a chai tea and a croissant. The chai tea was okay. I think it maybe needed to be mixed a bit more. I may try it again. The croissant was amazing. It was light and buttery, just like you want your croissant to be. They have a whole display case of treats so I am coming back to try something new. I ordered a cappuccino and a croissant for my daughter and she loved it. I love finding a new coffee shop to frequent. It's right beside Forsyth Park.

Yelp
They have lots of options for both food and coffee. It was all delicious. Healthy and vegetarian options. They have goat milk yogurt which is so fluffy. Will definitely be back when in Savannah next. Customer service was great as well with ample indoor and outdoor seating there isn't much better in a coffee spot!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Friendly service greeted me, and the line proved helpful so that I could peruse their large chalkboard menu. The Quiche du Jour with cheddar, black beans and chipotle - yes, please. It was tasty, hot and needed salt. My medium roast coffee hit the spot. Would I return? Yes, if it was convenient! This busy spot has an industrial, cavernous, garage feel with eclectic artwork dangling from a picture rail. There's some counter type seating along the windows and 2 and 4 top tables. A thorough interior pressure washing would go a long way here - if only there were floor drains.
google avatar

R A.

Yelp
Perfect location to grab a snack and some fresh coffee. Service was ok and they got our orders correct. If you are near Forsyth & craving a little caffeine this place can fix it. There is also a little patio where your pooch is welcome.
google avatar

Liz G.

Yelp
Please stop by, you won't regret it. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. I opted for the BBQ tofu wrap and almond joy cookie (vegan!). So so good.
google avatar

Jessie B.

Yelp
The food and pastries are really good, but the coffee is always mid. I've tried this place multiple times over the past few years and the coffee is always watery / doesn't taste right. If they had good coffee this place would be amazing.

Tracie J.

Yelp
Visited this coffee/café three days out of a five day trip to Savannah. We always try to hit different coffee shops when we travel loved this one so much we returned! Every morning we walked from our rental across Forsyth Park to the Sentient Bean. This was around 8 AM-ish multiple weekdays in a row. It was never too busy. We didn't encounter any unmanageable lines. The small café tables outside usually were empty and we sat and enjoyed the nice weather. I didn't have any coffee but did order the breakfast bowl three mornings in a row because I loved it so much. My wife loved the coffee! So much so she had to buy a T-shirt. :) we'll be back!
google avatar

Jim N.

Yelp
Great vegan options (it is an all vegetarian restaurant). The vegan breakfast buritto was flavorful. We also tried the BBQ tofu wrap which was very good. The prices are reasonable which is very appreciated. Definitely worth a try.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Sentient Bean is by far one of my favorite coffee shops! The staff are always extremely friendly, and you get free Wi-Fi, which is a huge plus. The coffee and teas are amazing and very affordable, just like their delicious food. I especially love the soup d'jour and the Pump the Protein salad. What makes this place even more special is how they support local artists. I had the opportunity to showcase my work there for a month, and it was such a fantastic experience. Sentient Bean is truly a gem for art lovers and coffee enthusiasts alike!

Yelp
Surprising find while coming out of the natural food store next door. Super excited that they serve breakfast ALL DAY as it was almost 4:30pm when I stumbled in. Plenty of indoor seating (four tops and some bar seating) and there's also an outdoor patio. Love that there's a plethora of vegan options. Ordered the vegan breakfast burrito and a mint brownie to go, service was quick and both were pretty good, however, the salsa that comes with the burrito is very lack luster. Excellent house made chai!!! Only one bathroom for everyone... and it wasn't clean... bummer.
google avatar

Joel M.

Yelp
The moment I walked in it was a very inviting atmosphere. People all around sitting and talking. After I went up and ordered a hot cappuccino, there was a short wait, maybe four to five minutes. It was very smooth and reasonably priced. Would recommend.
google avatar

Brandon L.

Yelp
Great open, welcoming spot. Great place for me to stop and grab a quick croissant and perfectly made latte to start my days in Savannah. If you like reliable coffee thats not too hot to drink and good vibes, makes this your only coffee stop when in Savannah.
google avatar

Jana H.

Yelp
Nice local spot on the south side of Forsyth Park and seems like a great space to plop down and work (definitely a few people with laptops working). Also has a outdoor back patio. Americano and breakfast burrito were just okay. Burrito was pretty bland, but the salsa it came with helped with that. Maybe would have been better had the green been cooked in with the eggs? Quiche was excellent! Wish it was bigger. Overall just okay!

Jesus T.

Yelp
They forgot my burrito then claimed I didn't buy one like I didn't just drop $30 on some rubbish coffee and matcha. The Matcha was beyond saving , the food was advertised as vegan and still had qualities of rubbish. I understand there's a liberal agenda that needs to be pushed, but guys at least be polite to people who don't have the same belief.
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
This is clearly where the cool local people come for breakfast. Many were working on laptops, having meetings or getting food to go. I was a tourist who was walking the park system and needed a quick breakfast. I got the b'omlette which was $5.50 plus a hibiscus tea. Both super good. The eggs came out in like 3 min and was brought to the table. I waited and wondered what to do about getting my tea. No one told me how it was coming. I looked at the counter on the end and wondered if I would find it there. I walked over and there it was. The young lady said nothing to me nor did she announce teas that were ready. Not sure how this could be created. I found hot sauce behind the salsa container after I was almost done. It seemed to be the cute design on my plate I think for &5.50 they could have provided bread since it was just two eggs Gender neutral bathroom that was not the cleanest.....

Yelp
mmmm rubs belly... mmm bean... food good, cute place, the workers are sooo nice and so attractive. lavender lemonade mmmm rubs belly yummy
google avatar

Finn B.

Yelp
I do not know if my gf and I just went on an off day, but we did not have a great experience. The food was so bland. My gf got a bagel and cream cheese. The bagel was not toasted and was so stale. The cream cheese came in a block in a container (which is no big deal but the bagel wasn't even good). My food was actually okay but my drink was super watered down. The line was also so long it wrapped around the perimeter of the store.
google avatar

Gerald G.

Yelp
Funky little coffeehouse with breakfast and lunch menu. The coffee was delicious. Our barista was very good. Old Savannah vibes for sure.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
My husband and I traveled through Savannah at 7am Monday morning and we wanted to grab coffee and some eggs. We found this cafe on Yelp. We entered, happy, said good morning. The gentlemen behind the bar didn't bat an eye. Kindness is important and so is saying good morning and being respectful. Maybe he had a bad morning? Not sure. It was a very grunge vibe inside. Our cold brew was okay, the food was good. I probably wouldn't come back, especially since the customer service was non existent.
google avatar

Brittany Anne O.

Yelp
Had breakfast here with a few friends on a recent trip to Savannah. The staff were friendly and inviting and the vibe inside felt inclusive and welcoming. The iced latte I ordered was great and served in a compostable cup -- which is a win for the environment! Kudos to you, Sentient Bean! The oatmeal was just okay, lacking quite a bit of flavor overall, but then again it is just oatmeal... maybe if was topped with a nut other than unsalted cashews? Overall a nice spot for grabbing coffee and food with a chill atmosphere. Plenty of tables for sitting and working or conversing. Lots of other food options available including vegan baked goods and breakfast sandwiches and burritos.
google avatar

Christie G.

Yelp
Sub par latte at its best. I hate walking into a coffee shop and not being engulfed in the aroma of brewing coffee. Location is great tho. Right across from Forsyth park.
google avatar

Rasheeta F.

Yelp
I called a head of time to make sure they had the peach pancakes and I ordered the last batch! Soo delicious, customer service was excellent. Cute cafe style restaurant and people seem to enjoy the WiFi. I had the brunch vegan pancakes and the vegan breakfast burrito. Very good and priced affordability.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Solid menu, our food was quality and tasty. This was a first time visit and would go back. Good options for veggie, vegan and gluten free.
google avatar

Tara B.

Yelp
Dropped in after jogging around Forsyth Park. Any place that sells breakfast all day is my jam! They also have quesadillas, salads, sandwiches, wraps and other snacks. Vegan options: breakfast burrito, breakfast taco, BBQ tofu wrap (didn't ask about the slaw so double check), sweet potato rice bowl. There are a few more items that you can ask about as well. I opted for the vegan breakfast burrito. Tofu scrambled, house "sausage", black beans, spinach and spicy mayo. Served with a side of house salsa, which seemed like more of a pick to me. The dish was good!! I would have loved more mayo but the salsa helped! And there was some type of spicy sauce on my plate that had "Hi!" written out. It was a good portion and very filling. I also ordered the blueberry mint, sooo good.

Andy J.

Yelp
Thought it would be super busy and crowded on a Sunday morning, but it was perfectly lively and energetic. We stood in line briefly before placing our order. Our coffees were ready in about 5 minutes and our food in about 10. My wife and I shared egg and cheese on a scone and Big Daddy sandwiches. They were both delicious. It was a great way to start our day.
google avatar

Vinay V.

Yelp
The coffee was good, skip the chai. The staff was very friendly. I liked the vegan wrap but panini was a bit hard for my liking. I was a bit hungry, hence I don't have pictures. So I think I would have liked anything and yet I didn't like the panini. But good choice of vegan options. Their T-shirts are good and cheap, incase you need an extra or want their merch. I had to get one due to an emergency spill, not from the coffee but an icecream waffle cone at another place :-)
google avatar

Lynne N.

Yelp
The vegan breakfast burrito was everything and then some. It was a hearty and tasty start of my day. Can't wait to return!

Anna B.

Yelp
The line was very long so we had high expectations. However, we were quite disappointed when our coffee was so watery we could not even tell if it had espresso in it. Very bad coffee!
google avatar

T S.

Yelp
Thank you for vegan options! What a wonderful spot with amazing coffee and food! Solid quad espresso and oat milk latte! I tried the special lavender habanero latte and although tasty it wasn't really spicy. Let me tell you about the vegan peach cobbler bar! Not a hint of vegan taste and it was pure perfection! We got the vegan breakfast burrito and the egg and cheese croissant with the house made vegan sausage patties! Yum! Could use a hot sauce condiment tray but otherwise it was crazy good. The line out the door was proof!

J G.

Yelp
The scones and croissants are amazing. Coffee was good too. The person who took our order was a bit curt but the food more than made up for it.
google avatar

Yelp
After a nice stroll at Forsyth Park, the Sentient Bean is right there always full of happy people. It is an experience, to see humanity of all walks of life mingle in serene and peaceful ways. The coffees are a staple in the community... I normally get the turmeric tea with a vegetarian breakfast. When in Savannah, go and check out this place it will not disappoint you!
google avatar

Miranda C.

Yelp
Excellent vegan breakfast burrito! Very large and filling. They had some yummy looking pastries as well! Pretty popular place it seemed- long lines at peak times. Unfortunately, they were out of matcha when I visited. I tried an iced coffee as result and wasn't a big fan for the price. They have oat and almond milk as options instead of regular milk and up charge 80¢ to 1$ for the change of milk. They also have fully compostable cups/ straws which is great! I'd go back!

Sylvia S.

Yelp
Great staff! Willing to help you choose something from their extensive and delicious menu. Delicious oat milk decaf latte.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Stopped in on my way to work for a quick coffee. The location is next to Forsyth Park close to the tennis courts. There is a parking lot in front of the cafe but if you've ever been to Forsyth Park you know how packed that lot gets pretty early. Luckily I was able to find street parking and popped in and out within 5 minutes. I saw lots of cute sandwiches and treats but opened to get a smoothie rather than coffee. I love that they offer so many vegan options. They can become very busy on the weekends especially with the farmers market happening in the park. Good place for coffee and a quick bite to eat. Reasonably priced as well with friendly staff.
google avatar

Madison P.

Yelp
I had a great vegan breakfast burrito here! A lot of times, places who are unfamiliar with vegan/veggie meals don't know how to prepare/press tofu, so you're left with a mushy wet burrito!! This was absolutely not the case here, the texture of the tofu was PERFECT and the burrito was delicious.
