Came into town late, but still wanted dinner with a decent drink...The Shady Lady Saloon drew my attention, so I had to check it out. As soon as I entered the historic building, I adored the ornate decor and speakeasy vibe. I took a seat in one of their booths and was greeted right away.
With an extensive cocktail menu inspired by New Orleans, I was obliged to try a couple starting with a refreshing French 75. Although they typically serve it with ice, I asked without and they made it just the way I wanted. The Kings Reign was an awesome, bold libation of whiskey, cold brew coffee liqueur, grand marnier, ancho Reyes chili liqueur and cocoa bitters. It was definitely one to sip on during dinner!
The Duck Tots were subtle, but the harissa aioli gave them a nice balance.
Since it was the week of St. Patty's Day, they were serving corned beef dishes. I went with the Corned Beef Sandwich, which consisted of pulled brisket, Russian dressing, horseradish sauce, gruyere cheese, sauerkraut, arugula, and tomatoes on marble rye, plus fries for $18. The fries were soggy, but the sandwich was freakin incredible!!
The staff who first greeted me warned me that they were a bit busy, but the drinks and food came out without much of a wait at all and everyone was so nice and attentive. This was such a great first impression of delicious food and friendly hospitality in this city. I would definitely come back next time I'm here!
