The Shed

"Experienced Chef-Owner Jonathan Woolway worked in London for many years before returning home to his beloved Wales to open this industrial-style restaurant by the former docks. His patriotic side comes out in the use of terrific local produce, along with a none-more-Welsh lamb, leek and laverbread pie to share. The other dishes too, from Mangatlisa brawn to a Welsh rarebit on the side, are hearty, traditional and decidedly unfussy." - Michelin Inspector

We had a great experience at The Shed in Swansea. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the food stood out. The blood sausage was cooked perfectly, with a rich, balanced flavour. The service was attentive, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed and were excellent in advising with our choices from the menu. The Shed offers an excellent dining experience with high-quality dishes that are well worth trying. If you’re in Swansea, it’s definitely worth a visit for a Welsh inspired and beautifully cooked meal.

Well Valentine's day was a treat here. The staff are really on point and gave us VIP treatment to make the day even more special. The food here is amazing and it truly deserves all the awards the place has won. We shall return ❤️

Came here with my dad for his birthday. Really delicious food and excellent service. Thank you so much Peter! Went above and beyond to cater for my dad and his many questions.. 😂 we came midweek, not too busy but still a good atmosphere. We had such a great time, highlights were the potted crab starter, and the grilled mackerel main. Thanks again for a special evening!

We had read great things about this place in the big newspapers so we were excited to take a seat at the kitchen counter to watch the cooking. This turned out to be a disappointment as, for both of our mains, the cooking consisted of the chefs scooping food out of a plastic trug and reheating it. (Did the famous chef cook it before he went on vacation and leave it for others to reheat?) I had the lamb, which had a lot of connective tissue in it and required a good deal of work to eat, and my wife had the rabbit which was chewy and barely had any meat on it at all. We really wanted to like this place but it was a real disappointment. It was nothing like the newspaper reviews we had read.

A must visit restaurant in Swansea! Set in a former industrial dock building, The Shed offers a warm atmosphere and a daily-changing menu that highlights the best local Welsh produce. We enjoyed a sunny walk along the coast from Clyne Farm Centre to the restaurant, with a stop at the Marina Street Market (second Sunday of every month 10am to 3pm). The Shed’s location by the Prince of Wales Dock is great, and the friendly staff made us feel right at home. Chef Jonathan Woolway, formerly of London's St. John, brings his passion for Welsh ingredients to every dish. The menu changes daily, but highlights from our meal included Cockle Croquettes, a hearty Roast Bacon Chop, and Gower Seabass. For dessert, the Olive Oil Parfait was a unique, savoury treat, and the Yoghurt Panna Cotta was a refreshing finish. Everything was paired with a crisp white wine, making the meal feel indulgent and special. The Shed is perfect for a special occasion or a memorable night out. If you’re staying at Clyne Farm Centre, it’ll be a holiday highlight. Highly recommended!

The menu changes daily and Welsh sourced local food and amazing wine list. But to accompany an absolute taste bomb, the service and look and feel of the place is off the charts. The team there (Lucy, Nell and the rest) are so lovely. What an experience and a real treat well done 👏

Amazing staff. Great wine list. Romantic Waterside location. Raw aubergine in a costly aubergine dish is a bit unfortunate though. Inedible, borderline dangerous. Welsh Rarebit was just a small sad dry bit of cheese on toast. at nearly 100 pounds a head it's way over priced.

Giving this review as feedback to the kitchen team. 1. Like a few other reviews, I too felt the food was too salty. We had the lamb stew and plaice - for both the overwhelming flavour was of salt. I think the concept is there, perhaps there needs to be more focus on execution. I really don’t think this is the flavour they are aiming for? 2. The presentation of the food is basic. If you look at all the photos from all the other reviewers, it always looks like a basic meal, not a reflection of the price and decor. I wouldn’t come again or recommend, it’s below expectation.
