The Shilla Jeju (Jeju, Korea) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Where do Koreans go to get away from it all? One answer is Jeju, a volcanic island off the southern coast, a volcanic island that’s home to some of the country’s best scenery — and beaches. There’s no shortage of places to stay, but one of the biggest names is doubtless the Shilla Jeju, located on the southern, Pacific-facing coast of the island." - Tablet Hotels

The views from the room was spectacular! Facing the pool and sea! The hotel was world-class with ample amenities for an extremely comfortable stay. Location was at a cluster of hotels, convenience stores were sprouted at some hotels in the vicinity, the nearest within 5min walk. Lotsa Restaurants within 5min drive from the hotel. Accessibility is good only if you drive, as most would in Jeju. We’d a great time!

Never in my life have went to such an ordeal to sit by the pool. |Firstly you must ring the reception to reserve a sunbed. |Then you must walk passed the pool (and all of the empty sunbeds) completely to go to the fitness centre reception but this door is locked so you have to go all the way back, through the entire hotel to enter from the 'correct side' |Where finally you are given the key to get through the locked door and access to the promised sunbed - only to tell them towels would be helpful. Surely the reservation includes towels???? ||You can't access the adults only pool without 20000 won charge for 2 hours. Simply unacceptable. What is the purpose of this?||Crazy system. ||1 hour after making the sunbed reservation we got to sit down!!!||Only for them to do an inspection and close the entire pool area. Why? Why do the pool inspection in the middle of the day? Why not at 10pm or 6am when it is closed?|Simply staggeringly annoying for paying guests. ||The hotel might have been nice 20 years ago but it is dated to look at. ||The lobster spaghetti was lovely and packed with seafood - but it does cost a lot. ||I think the management lacks sense and could easily sort these annoyances out and it would be worthy of 3 stars.

Driving up to this property you can feel how elegant and grand it is. It's sprawling. It was in a great location to walk to the Botanic Garden, the Cheonjeyeon Falls, and many other local hot spots. We did have some issues. The rooms were very dated and could use a refresh. The air conditioner never cooled our room and it was very hot. All of the restaurants close at 10 but you cannot order food after 9. This was unfortunate because we arrived late and wanted food. We finally ate at the bar. The pools were very crowded. The locker room could have been nicer. The breakfast buffet was nice and the food quality was good but not great.

Nestled in the scenic southern part of Jeju Island—often referred to as the "Hawaii of South Korea"—The Shilla Jeju stands as a luxurious testament to refined hospitality. Established by the prestigious Samsung family in 1990 as part of their high-end hotel brand, The Shilla, this distinguished resort seamlessly blends elegance, artistry, and an inviting tropical ambiance.||Designed by esteemed French interior designers Ogawa & Ferre, the interiors boast a sophisticated palette of pastel tones, complemented by exquisite artworks from world-renowned artists. The resort exudes an atmosphere that is both opulent and welcoming. Housing 429 rooms and suites, ranging in size from 40 to 277 square meters, The Shilla Jeju offers breathtaking mountain, ocean, and garden views. My stay was in a Premier Room with a garden view, featuring refined furnishings, a plush king-size bed, a spacious sitting area, and an expansive desk. A flat-screen TV, a well-stocked bar, and an integrated closet add to the convenience, while the bathroom is equipped with a shower, bathtub, single washbasin, and a small TV. Molton Brown toiletries, complimentary Wi-Fi, and an attentive turndown service with water and chocolates enhance the experience, though the terrace view—overlooking the garden and a neighboring hotel—was less remarkable compared to other vantage points within the resort.||Dining at The Shilla Jeju is an indulgent affair. The Parkview restaurant, the resort's all-day buffet venue, presents an extraordinary breakfast selection of fresh fruit juices, premium cold cuts, home-baked pastries, and a variety of international and Asian hot dishes. Its offerings extend to lunch and dinner, showcasing fresh seafood, premium meats, seasonal vegetables, and exceptional desserts. The expertly prepared beef steak and artisanal homemade ice cream, elegantly coated with white chocolate and matcha, made for a particularly memorable meal. Specialty restaurants Cheonjee and Hinode elevate the culinary experience further—Cheonjee featuring refined authentic Korean cuisine with grilled meats and rich stews, while Hinode excels in Japanese dining, offering expertly crafted sushi, teppanyaki, and an exquisite bento box with premium ingredients.||Beyond dining, the resort hosts a diverse array of recreational and relaxation facilities. Guests can unwind with a sophisticated lounge experience at Badang Bar, enjoy handcrafted pastries at the Pastry Boutique, or sip expertly crafted cocktails at Ollae Bar. The exclusive Clé de Peau Beauté Spa provides luxurious facial and body treatments, while the indoor pool and sauna ensure serene relaxation. The family pool, equipped with deluxe cabanas featuring air conditioning, TVs, and gourmet service, offers a splendid retreat, while the adult pool provides an oasis of tranquility. By night, the poolside transforms into a magical escape, where live music performances enhance the resort's serene ambiance beneath the stars.||The picturesque garden, with its elegant walkways winding through lush landscapes, tranquil ponds, and seasonal blooms, offers breathtaking vistas of Jeju’s dramatic coastline and endless ocean views. For adventurers, the nearby Jungmun Saekdal Beach—a renowned surf spot—is easily accessible via scenic wooden stairways that weave seamlessly into the resort’s lush grounds.||A destination of choice for diplomatic gatherings and film productions, The Shilla Jeju is more than just a luxury retreat—it is a refined escape where exceptional cuisine, warm hospitality, and world-class amenities harmonize with nature, crafting an unforgettable experience on South Korea’s most picturesque island.

Stayed here w family in different rooms. My room faced the sea. It was spectacular. Breakfast was great but wish it was included in the room rate. Parking at the hotel was available and though the assigned car parks were always full, the hotel allowed parking at e side of the road, so there was definitely space to park the car. The hotel compound was big and is an enjoyable time strolling around. This was a very popular hotel, evident from the crowd at the swimming pool, gym, restaurants and cafeteria. I’d an enjoyable time.

We booked a twin bed Mountain room by mistake and the receptionist was kind enough to change the room to a big bed during check-in. Thankful for that! Views from the balcony was facing a golf course, quiet and peaceful! We particularly loved the gym and the evening bash at the pool with live band performance was electrifying! Totally enjoyed our stay at The Shilla Jeju.

Great rooms. Great breakfast buffet. Good service. Charge for extras. No pool chairs. Pool too small. Poor English service. Emily at the concierge and the bell boy staff were the best. Would maybe stay again.

A slightly older hotel with a rich history, but the service is truly top-notch. Located in Jeju, all the on-site restaurants are excellent. While it’s more affordable than The Shilla Seoul, it’s still on the expensive side. The walking trails and swimming pool are standout features. Parking can be a bit limited. There’s a casino, but it’s only open to foreigners. Room interiors feel a bit dated, but cleanliness is outstanding. Housekeeping doesn’t seem to accept tips—personally, I left a thank-you note and some cash on the bed, and only the note was taken.
