My husband and I visited this spot on a Thursday morning after seeing a review on TikTok. We love Scottish food. While I don’t have a Scottish accent, my dad and all of his family are from Scotland. I’m very proud of my Scottish heritage.
This place is for influencers. My husband’s big breakfast did not match the one we’d seen an influencer have online. It was missing items, and the beans had been cooked very differently which gave the impression that it hadn’t been prepared with the same level of care. Staff did not check in with us at all. While we were in the shoap, there was another influencer with quite a large following. Him and his partner were served their roll on a plate whereas mine was given to me in a paper bag. The staff seemed quite uninterested in us and only focused on the influencers taking photos of their food. We were in there for about 40 minutes and the whole time the influencer was just taking photos. It created a very weird atmosphere and we felt like we were intruding or not supposed to be in the Shoap.
I completely understand that you need that social media buzz to get customers in, we wouldn’t have known about it without social media. But, you can’t provide influencers with a different experience to your paying customers. We’re a couple in our 20s and 30s who are very passionate about our food, we were really excited to visit and had traveled from outside of London, but we probably won’t come back
