The food here is ridiculously delicious!!! I ordered the Avocado BLT, and it came out so good. The bread was soft, the avocado was as green as ever, and it was overall beautifully crafted. Great portion as well for the price. In addition, I tried a short stack of Chocolate Chip Pancakes, which were so fluffy and fresh. They were served hot with a generous scoop of butter and syrup. Our waitress Zena was amazing, and very informative. Great place, I would totally recommend trying it out!

ASK FOR NEOSHI! She was absolutely amazing and had great choices if you don’t know what to order. Everything hit. Haven’t been here in about a year and I will be back soon. 20 Stars to NEOSHI for her excellent spirit and energy.

The music was on point. They played a lot of throwback 90’s R&B. Our server Yoshie was personable and was constantly checking up on us. Will definitely be going back here!

I always drove by this place and decided to finally stop and check it out, it was lowkey quiet diner. The staff greeted me right away and were super friendly, the place had a nice old-school touch to it. Highly recommend!

Wasn't bad but not really impressive. We went during a week day so it was normal that it wasn't crowded, except for the bar. Decor is really nice and chic. The server was really attentive and always with a smile, Jeremy, his name. We ordered onion rings and Mac and cheese as appetizers. The rings were a lil cold but oh well not the best not the worst, the Mac and Cheese tasted really cheese as it it a mix of 2 or 3 cheeses, not the regular yellow one we normally see. I found that the menu is kind of short for a diner, 3 kinds of burgers, and n turkey burgers. We had a blue sky burger, tasted fine but was a little dry. We were craving for a tuna sandwich but surprisingly not in the menu,so we ordered beside the burger a homemade chicken pot pie which was really good and came with a choice of Soups or salads so we opted for a chicken and rice soup, really tasty and no doubt homemade. The dessert list is short too, we opted for the carrot cake and unfortunately wasn't that good, kind of dry. I saw that they have shows on weekends like comedians and karaoke night.

This diner has great decor. The music and atmosphere was great. The waitress and other wait staff were very attentive and worked together to provide excellent service. And to top it all off the food was delicious!!

Elevated diner- expect elevated prices. I visited the Skylark Diner on Tuesday 4/29 with my dad and my brother and we were happy with our experience, but ultimately were left almost flabbergasted by the prices. The diner is located right on Route 1 in Edison, NJ, and has a tight parking lot that tends to get rather crowded and can be tough to find a spot as we noticed driving by later that night. We visited in the morning around 9 AM and received the breakfast menu. Typical diner offerings from omelets to pancakes, to waffles. The one thing that stands out is the diner's attention to ingredients, only using cage-free eggs that add a nice touch of "elevation" to this "elevated" diner experience. The service was quick, our server got our orders after no more than 4 minutes of being in the establishment. I ordered the Western Omelette, which was good, but not mind-blowing. I thought the "Artisan Toast" seemed to be a gimmick and didn't taste any different or better than anything else. My brother ordered the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Croissant, and my father the "Little Bit of Everything" with eggs, bacon, and sausage. Both were good, but seemed to be expensive for pretty much run-of-the-mill diner food. The environemet of the diner is very cool, with the diner designed to look like the Googie style diners of the 1950s. Keep an eye out for the clocks that show the time in major cities across the world, including Moscow, and London. If you're looking to save a few bucks, you can save 3% on your order by paying cash. If you're over 21 you can even grab an alcholic beverage from the diner's bar. The diner does advertise that it has bottle service for those interested. Overall though, it felt to be a too expensive, with our order coming it $56 dollars for breakfast. Despite this it is still a fun place, very clean, and nice, fast service make it worth a visit if you're willing to spend a little extra on fancier ingredients and enjoy the cool vibes.

Google
It's been awhile since we were last here. Unfortunately, although the menu has changed. It wasn't for the better. Breakfast: Average food. Not much variety. Over priced. We appreciated the server and the music. Won't be back!

Yelp
We stoped here for breakfast after our 9+hr drive from North Carolina. We arrived about 30min before they opened so we took a quick nap in our car while we waited! lol Once inside we took a look around. Love the decor. Loved the booths and the light fixtures. The counter stools where nice and wide. They had clocks set to times around the world. We got seated right away. Our server was super friendly. She gave us our table and menus and gave us some time to check it out. First up for us. Large Fresh squeezed orange juice. When I tell you this hit the spot after our long drive I'm not doing it justice. lol it was the best glass of oj I think I've ever had. Get it. For our breakfast order, we had a make your own omelette, spinach, ham , bacon. Super tasty. It also came with toast and some home fries. Also had the short rib hash with fried eggs a small salad and a little cup of fresh yoghurt with honey and blue berries. This dish was full of flavor. I was surprised how much I enjoyed a small salad moth breakfast y'all! I paired perfectly with the richness of the short rib hash. The yoghurt with honey and berries was a nice addition as well. All in all it was a great way to start our long weekend in New Jersey . Give this place a go if you're in the mood for a great breakfast and awesome diner experience.

Yelp
Oh my! Six of us were treated like royalty. We all live far away and tried to find a place that was convenient. Everything was splendid. The server we had was a lovely woman who honestly gave us the best service I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Three of us had the pastrami grilled sandwich which was perfection. One had a gluten free meal with omelet and yummy bread. One had a streak sandwich and loved it. I'm sorry we didn't take food pictures! We agreed to meet for brunch again in the future. Good job!

Yelp
I've had Skylark Diner on my radar for a minute because I heard about their R&B/Jazz Brunch on Sundays. I decided to go check it out with another Yelper. When I arrived at noon, it seems like they were still setting up for the Jazz Brunch. I wasn't really sure of the dynamic of how it was supposed to go. I'm not sure if reservations are required or if you had to tell them specifically that you wanted to do the Jazz Brunch. They set up the music in the bar area, which is tucked away in a corner on the side of the restaurant. We were seated in the main dining area. Therefore, we didn't get to experience the music aspect of it. Nevertheless, I ordered the Spicy Mango Mule for my drink and had the Salted Caramel French Toast with a side of bacon. I have no complaints about the food or drinks. Our server was nice and efficient. I would return to Skylark Diner again.

Yelp
First time visiting Skylark diner and it was great! It looked very nice. The atmosphere was great, very retro! The food was delicious! Our waitress was very friendly as well! Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
The service was good and our waitress was nice. The food was delicious and I was definitely feeling the lavender mimosa afterwards. Maybe because I'm a light weight. But when eating out always remember to double check your bill just in case there are any extra charges on your bill. Because our bill had an extra $20 for some apple juice that we didn't even order. The waitress was cool about it and took it off right away. But this just reminded me to always double check my bill because normally I don't check it thoroughly and just hand over my card and not look at the itemized list of what was ordered.

Yelp
A friend invited me to hang out on a Friday and recommended we check out Skylark because she said she heard the food was amazing and that after 9pm they opened the "lounge" section where there was a DJ and I said I was in! Upon entering you see the traditional diner to your left and the lounge area to the right and when asked the host shared that we could order food and drinks in the lounge and stay as long as we liked listening to the DJ so we went with that option. The lounge is dimly lit and has the perfect grown and sexy Friday night fun vibe as the bar in the lounge was full with people talking and the DJ was already playing music. Our server immediately greeted us and took our cocktail orders while we looked over the extensive menu. There were true diner offerings even in the lounge so if you wanted pancakes with your music and appletini it was possible lol. We ordered a few appetizers and a shared entree (mozzarella triangles, calamari, bang bang shrimp and short rib ravioli) and every single thing was DELICIOUS! We each had food this take home as well. We literally stayed for 3 hours after finishing our meal listening to music and dancing because the DJ was that good and because more people flowed in throughout the evening. Skylark is definitely a great lowkey Friday night vibe and we will be back!

Yelp
Our waitress was wonderful! Very attentive and on top of our order. Everything was wonderful, they do have comedy shows on the weekend. Definitely an old diner but very inviting. Food was great as well.

Yelp
I've passed by this diner for years & have been curious. The outside always looked so futuristic & interesting. We grabbed dinner here after an event on Saturday. They have private parking and most of the spots were taken. They were very busy ( most folks were at their Halloween party inside ) It room a few minutes for the hostess to acknowledge us and to get seated. Once we sat, our waiter Jeremy was sweet and helpful. I ordered an amaretto sour ( one their fall specials ) but was disappointed when it came in a small plastic cup. We were informed they stopped serving drinks in glasses after 9pm but other tables were getting drinks in martini glasses. I liked my sandwich and Jeremy was nice enough to turn it into a panini at my request.I was put off by my dirty water glass. I'm not sure if I'll be back ...

Yelp
Food is always amazing and they constantly add new items to their menu, keeping favorites and making new ones.

Yelp
Sub par at best. We were looking for a place to eat after the vintage market at the Edison convention center. We came here as it looked exciting from the outside . Well looks are deceiving. I ordered the Mediterranean salad. Lettuce I could tell came from a prepackaged bag as it was wet and wilted. Chicken was rubbery like it was frozen not to mention small portion. Doesn't live up to the words on their website "superior ingredients = better food, better taste" . My friend ordered the chicken sandwich, was loaded with too much sauce and there was barely any fries. Not really a lot of quality and value for the price. I don't recommend this place, find something better. Highly disappointed

Yelp
Over the years, friends and family have always shared with me how much they enjoy going to Skylark. It has been a staple in central Jersey since the early 2000s, and I have never been..ever. Welp, that changed last week! It has a retro vibe when you first walk in, great lighting, with booths lining the windows. They also have a lounge and full bar area towards the rear. The manager, Simone, greeted us with a warm smile when we first walked in. We were seated in the lounge at a half booth on a quiet Friday evening. I spotted one couple at the bar and maybe just one other couple seated at a different half booth, and then there was my party of three. There were also several high top tables available, but we preferred the booth seating. We ordered buffalo wings for the table, and I ordered the grilled ribeye cheesesteak sandwich. I enjoyed everything I tried and would order again. The fries were especially tasty with a nice crunch, but everything was good. I was doing more talking than eating therefore didn't have a lot of the cheesesteak, so I will need to order it again on my next visit. Around 8 or 9 pm, the lounge began to transform into a more nightlife vibe and people began to trickle in. Lights were now dimmed, the DJ is all set up and turning up the volume on some R&B hits. Our server explained that on Friday and Saturday nights, Skylark closes at 1 am which makes for a great night spot for people looking to get out of the house and have a good time. At this point of the night, the tables are first come first serve; however, you can reserve a seat for $50 ($200 for a party of four). The cost to reserve does include whatever food/drink you decide to order. You do not have to reserve a seat, but I have seen videos of how quickly the space fills up. On Friday nights, the DJ plays more 80s, 90s, early 2000s R&B. On Saturday nights, it is more current R&B. And they offer a jazz brunch on Sundays, possibly from 12-4p. If the manager sees my review and would like to correct me on any of my details, please do. I didn't have my pen and pad : ) We headed out before the party started, but I did get a taste of what was to come and the plan is to return for some of their events which are posted in advance on their instagram. I will update my review upon my return!

Yelp
I met up with a friend to check out the Sunday Jazz & R&B. Unfortunately it was lacking the music. We came in after the starting the time of 12 and didn't hear any music. We were seated and proceeded with chatting and looking over the menu. We both ordered the spicy mango mule which we both enjoyed. It seemed most of the spice however settled on the bottom and didn't get a true kick until we were sipping up the last bit. We eventually heard faint music that we knew was coming from the bar area. I ordered the short rib hash toast amd she ordered the salted caramel French toast. Bother were pretty generous portions. I liked how the bread was toasted, and the hash was delicious. The salad was a nice pairing with it. While we were leaving, we saw a dj that was playing the music, but there was no energy at all in the area. The music was more background than the main attraction.

Yelp
It was a decent breakfast for sure. Probably 3 stars but the fourth is for my server Velinda. She was an attentive, and all around great kid. If I am ever in north jersey again, I'll definitely hit this place up again.

Yelp
Excellent service during Sunday brunch hours ...the food, service, ambience and Dj Bookeem!! Would definitely recommend!!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning all I can say is wow. We walked in and was sat immediately which was great! The place is enormous and very spacious. Our food came out to order couldn't ask for a better experience for breakfast. Our server was great she was so attentive and on point. Definitely a great experience

Yelp
We went to Skylark Diner and Lounge for breakfast and had a nice experience overall. My husband ordered the huevos rancheros, and I had the California scrambler. The cranberry bread was a standout--absolutely delicious! However, the huevos rancheros could have used a bit more spice to elevate the flavors. On the other hand, I'd definitely order the California scrambler again. The diner is a bit pricey for the area and the food we had, but the quality and ambiance made it enjoyable. Worth a visit if you're looking for a good breakfast spot!

Yelp
Yesterday was my first time checking out Skylark despite me passing by it hundreds of times over the years. I had the burger with blue cheese and a generous amount of fries. It was quite delicious. I also tasted the chicken parm sandwich which was huge! The chicken was tender and the sauce was very flavorful. I had an Arnold Palmer that had just the right amount of lemonade vs iced tea. Our server was delightful as well so I would be happy to return.

Yelp
Well I actually I can't give a full review because I ended up leaving. I called they advised it was about an hr wait I informed her we was literally in line for valet and asked if she could put my name down as they don't take reservations she said no I don't know that you are in the parking lot.So how would I know you have valet. We go in and there was not an hour wait we actually sat on the bar side immediately. We waited about 15 mins before the waitress came over and finally ordered. I heard her tell another table they were out of waffles so I asked to confirm and she said yes we are like what are you kidding me first it's only 2pm secondly you have an entire brunch menu offering waffles how do you run out of waffles. Not to mention she never said anything to us okay then I wanted to order the lobster rolls she quickly said we are out like are you kidding me so all in all. We ended up leaving due to this. Which was very disappointing. I will not return.

Yelp
Very cool interior, really takes you back in time. It has easy access off of Route 1 North and we had both efficient and pleasant service. Food quality was fine for the price and the coffee was hot and solid!

Yelp
Went to lunch on July 9th, 2025.i ordered a south west panini and my wife ordered a French dip. I ate about 3 bites of the panini. My wife about the same. She said hers was terrible. I think her description was"gross". Mine was inedibl. It tasted terrible. I took the chicken out of the sandwich and brought it home for the dog. I am far from being a fussy eater. This food sucked. Diners are usually good. I don't go out much so I was so disappointed. Seriously.... The food sucked.

Robert A.

Yelp
Ever since it first opened, Skylark Diner has been our go-to restaurant. From it's laid-back, yet friendly atmosphere, to their friendly staff, we love the place. Their food is delicious and their drinks are on point. We want to give a special shout out to Brooke, their bartender, who can work wonders with drinks. We love going there either as a couple or with our whole family. It's a great place.

Carol B.

Yelp
What a enjoyable lunch I had with several friends yesterday. I have food allergies and the server made sure everything I ordered was safe for me to eat. She was an outstanding server and took very good care of our party of six. I wish I had asked her name! My omelette was huge, the side salad very fresh and definitely will enjoy my leftovers today. The ambiance, the service, the food all made for a very nice experience. Can't wait to go back again, and now that I know you carry gluten free bread will try a sandwich next visit.

Yelp
Earlier today, my boyfriend and I visited the Skylark Diner in Edison. We went around 5:30 pm. The diner was directly on Route 1, so it was easy to get minus the sharp turn into the parking lot. The parking lot wrapped around the building, but was quite full. The outside of the diner looks straight out of Back to the Future, retro, yet modern. The building is abstract in shape with neon accents. When we walked in I was surprised at the interior. The building is HUGE and larger than stereotypical diners. the ceilings were high with modern accent lighting. The traditional elements of booth seating and counter/stool seating bring that vintage feel. The neon lighting accents tie the inside and outside together. Additionally, I was surprised at the size of the bar. Before going to the Skylark I knew they had a bar, but I did not realize is was a full size wrap around bar in its own room. This is a unique element! After walking in there was little to no wait at the host stand before we were approached by a gentleman in a suit (a nice touch!). Upon being seated, we were greeted by our server Kyle. Kyle was attentive and pleasant but the service was nothing exceptional. The menu had a number of options, ranging from traditional burgers to vegetarian bowls. I ordered the Southwest Chicken Panini - a Panini with chicken, pepper jack cheese, smoked bacon, and chipotle mayo. It was delicious and the sweet potato fries were top notch. My boyfriend ordered the Southwest Bowl - a rice bowl with blackened chicken, sliced avocado, pico de gallo, salsa verde, and black beans. He said it was, "very good, very hot (temperature wise) , and the chicken was seasoned excellently." Overall, the Skylark Diner is a visually stimulating experience bringing nostalgia and retro vibes. The food ranges in price and some items were more expensive than you would expect. The portion sizes were enough for two though, so maybe its worth it! I would definitely go back again if in the area!

Yelp
Had a very disappointing visit. Came out early on a Sunday 2pm. Ordered a lobster roll, and was told it was sold out. Ordered a Corona beer, also told they were out. So I decided to try the teriyaki salmon. It was dry so I asked for some extra sauce, I was told I got the last of the sauce. Are they telling the servers to say this to certain guests or did they really run out. Something just didn't seem right to me. I won't be going back.

Yelp
Decide to meet up with my cousins on a Friday night here when DJ Bookem was playing. We made reservations had dinner and drinks. The Chicken Franchise w/jasmine rice and asparagus was delicious. I would definitely return again to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Food was very flavored and tasty with a good presentation, service was excellent , and ambiance with great decorations, and nice and clean installations.

Yelp
This place has changed so much since the last time. Perhaps changed owner ‍. There's lots of young waiters. I ask my waitress of what's popular on the menu since bkfts items were limited. She had no clue. All she said was she never tasted any items. Shame on management. How do you expect to make $$ or succeed. I orders the eggs Benedict and it didn't look appealing. Taken a bite and not to my liking!! No flavor at all. Home fries looked like it was the end of what was left. Hard and crispy. I left it and will never come back. Our waitress never passed to Check on us.

Yelp
Skylark food and service has always been great, but this was my first time back in over ten years. Walking in reminded me of the good times we had back then, especially since it was unique, a diner with a full bar that serves awesome drinks. Carolina iced teas used to be our jam so we gave it a go again for nostalgia sake. Inside: just what I remembered but SUPER quiet. No music or lively bar crown like I remembered but hey, it was the day before Thanksgiving. Regardless, meeting up with old friends in a familiar place was great. The food is phenomenal, super tasty dishes and I enjoyed my pasta a lot. Service was great, super attentive and gave recommendations. Asked if they had Carolina iced teas and they obliged which was great. Not the same taste as what I remembered but close enough. I'm pretty sure the truck is to used Brisk iced tea instead of Lipton. Either way, still good and had a great dinner. Just wish it had more of a lively ambiance because it was as quiet as a library lol

Yelp
Great diner ! Hugh end eatery. Get selection with attentive service. Plenty of parking with convenient highway location. My Cobb salad was full of meat and proteins. High end diner look.

Yelp
Skylark Diner in Edison, NJ - where I ended up going solo for dinner. Picture this: me, alone, embracing the art of solitude while sipping on a cappuccino - very European . The black bean burger was an absolute maestro in the culinary world - taste buds, take a bow. ‍ The ambiance was not your conventional "diner" label and went for an atmosphere that screams CHILL date night. I felt like I stumbled into a hidden a romantic rendezvous, and the fine dining service was the cherry on top - who knew a diner could pull off elegance with such flair? I do now ! The cleanliness at The Skylark takes it to a whole new level. It's so pristine you could eat off the floor - although, why do that when you have a menu that has so many options to choose from. Skylark Diner, you've raised the diner game to an art form. 5/5 stars, and a standing ovation for turning my solo dining into a culinary masterpiece!

Yelp
We stopped in on a Saturday for lunch and didn't have to wait for a table. Service was quick and friendly and we all loved the decor inside! I would strongly recommend going on a weekend to take advantage of the brunch menu; we split the birria tacos and a California scramble and I would order both of those again and again!

Yelp
This review is only for the bar and lounge section of this restaurant. I'll have to try food sometimes and then rewrite this review again later . Very nice location . Right in RT1 . Lots of parking available . We went around 7.45 pm and they said the restaurant is closing , even though google said they are open till 9pm.. there were people in bar and lounge and we had to talk to three different people for us to go in. We left in 10-15 mins after a quick drink. Beer selection was good . They had few beers on tap. I liked Stella . Price wise it was ok. About 5$ per .. not bad .. loved the atmosphere inside . Service could be better but it was ok. Overall , it could be better .

Yelp
We had two $15 off coupons we were told by one of the office people Suzanne we could use both but only one was accepted at the table It is supposed to be an upscale diner with the food was average Plus ordered two eggs over medium and they came out hard or overcooked kept them anyway Plus the prices are kind of high for what you get

Yelp
The Skylark is a very popular destination for hungry Edisonians, especially those who like to drink - because there's a full bar and unlike other diners in NJ, their bartenders make excellent mixed drinks. With that said, the food is good but I feel that it's a tad overpriced for the portion size.

Yelp
i love the retro diner vibe!! food is yum lots of variety and staff and service staff is always pleasant! always a nice chill time. They also have events in the evening which i want to go to one of these days !

Yelp
I have never been so dissapointed by how a salad was presented and served. I came to skylark today to order to go and ordered a salad with spinach and turkey bacon, grilled chicken and strawberries. I did not get grilled chicken at all and the amount of salad I received for 18 dollars honestly so dissapointing. I also did not receive any utensils.

Yelp
Pancakes are nice and fluffy. Bacon was just right along with eggs fried hard . Good portion with a side of potatoes.

Yelp
The food was pretty decent and the service was good. I never felt rushed. The ambiance gives a nice vibe and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmospheric music and the DJ.

Yelp
Not your typical diner food. Ny wife had an avocado grilled cheese which she really enjoyed. I had the smoked salmon Benedict. Hers came with fries and mine came with hash browns. Nice large mugs of coffee and tea. Our waitress was very efficient and asked to refill. both of our drinks before we needed to request it,
