Worth the suburban drive for scratch biscuits, housemade goetta, and a bright, modern brunch. Recognized by Cleveland Magazine’s Best of the East, it’s a local favorite that still feels personal and chef-led.

Woah. So good! Probably the best breakfast I've had in North East Ohio. Everything tasted homemade and fresh. The Rooster Cakes (they're like cheesy apple pancakes? - don't knock it until you try it!) and Eggs Benedict were amazing. Great fair prices. Nice, kind service. Easy parking (it's in a strip mall). Clean, modern, local vibe. Note: make sure you join the waitlist online WELL in advance before you show up. (You'll see it on Google here linked to Toast). I joined before leaving for the place thinking it'd go faster, and it was actually very accurate to what it displayed online (was like an hour - hour and a half on a Sunday). It's great/easy if you plan in advance, but probably minimal chance of getting a table if you don't plan in advance. Do it though. Go. It's fantastic!

Google
Literally a perfect breakfast / lunch spot. Friendliest staff you could ask for, and an absolutely outstanding menu. Also the best breakfast potatoes in the area by far! Highly recommend the mushroom gravy, tastes great and even a bit healthy(ish).

Google
The most amazing food and service. Feel so lucky to have it so close. Very difficult to pick from the great menu. Today we picked the salmon toast with poached egg and veggie frittata. Delicious!!!

If you have not been here, you’re missing out!! This place is amazing!! The amount of love that goes into the food is incredible. From the moment you walk in you feel right at home. Everyone is happy to see you and help you. The food is outstanding! The shrimp and grits is one of my absolute favorites. I like to add two eggs and extra sauce😍 My husband loves the Craig’s Benedict with salmon served on their house made biscuit. Also they have these pancakes called rooster cakes which are off the charts delicious!!

Google
This place was a gem. The food was fantastic. Our server, Maddie, and all the staff we interacted with were so sweet & friendly. They gave my daughter a little turtle toy, which was so nice & she will have it forever. The kids' menu was a little pricey. It was $9 for one pancake, sausage & some vanilla yogurt. The menu said milk was included in the kids' menu, but it was never brought. The eggs Benedict was so good, I had it with the sausage! You could get smoked salmon, for I believe, $4 more, which sounded good. My hubs had the country fried steak & said it was really good, he only wished he would have asked for fries instead of the potatoes which he wasn't a fan of but in fairness he doesn't like home fries any where & we saw another table get a basket of regular fries that looked delicious. Good hot coffee! I liked that they left a water pitcher on the table. It was very clean in there, bathrooms included. I only took one star off because there was no changing table in the restroom, which was a real bummer when traveling with a baby. Overall, I definitely recommend if you don't mind the price for brunch.

Google
My girlfriend and I come here whenever we want breakfast and it never disappoints. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. The iced coffee is absolutely delicious. Hands down our favorite place to eat! The owner has made so many dishes, that blend so well together. If you’re coming in make sure you get the loaded crispy potatoes and the smoked salmon with dill cream cheese!!

Google
The BEST country fried steak I ever had. Everyone’s order was great! You won’t go away hungry or not happy!

Google
Excellent menu choices, fantastic service and Mia the hostess was very friendly and efficient! Our table ordered a wide variety of dishes which were all delicious. I had the smoked salmon on toast with a side of eggs. It was amazing! The fried capers with the salmon was fantastic.

Yelp
Visiting from Miami, FL. My daughter suggested we have breakfast at The Sleepy Rooster close to where she lives. It did not disappoint. We sat at the bar with views to the kitchen. Food was fantastic. I had the breakfast huge biscuit with sausage, Cheese, and egg. Along side, the crispy potatoes. Service was great, greeted with smiles from everyone. My favorite, the head chef smiles over to us and ask how we are today and thanked us for coming in. Wow... That was special. We will certainly be back on my bimonthly visits to Ohio. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Food is great! Get a rooster cake with the local syrup - you won't be sorry! Ambiance is fine, a little cafeteria like but it's fine. Service is where it lacks a little. Everyone is attentive until the food comes. Once it does, good luck getting a refill on coffee. I asked multiple times and all the wait staff said they would be back with a pot...but never came. Multiple tables were asking too, so it wasn't just me.

Yelp
The biscuits and gravy and the French onion soup The best in town Prices are a bit high , however there isnt a day the parking lot isnt packed and I have several family and friends who go atleast twice a week So they are absolutely worth the try ! Only reason its not 5 star - is the prices But absolutely a 5 star on the food

Yelp
Cute little place in a strip mall. Was visiting my son and looking for a breakfast place nearby. Definitely need to put your name in the waitlist (they don't take reservations). We waited for a table for 2. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of delicious options - we shared a side of blueberry pancake which was delicious. You get a choice of pancake syrup or maple syrup. I'm not from the Midwest so I don't know what pancake syrup is so we opted for maple syrup. My husband had the French dip grilled cheese which was a pretty big portion. I ordered the chorizo hash - both delicious! Would like to try, again for lunch when we're back in town.

Yelp
This is a popular breakfast spot with not a lot of space, so definitely use the waitlist feature. You can also shorten your wait time by letting the host know you are willing to sit at the counter. We went on a Sunday morning, after church. Our wait would have been 2 hours if we had waited for a table, but we waited less than 15 for counter seats! Service was excellent and the food was good. There isn't a soda fountain, so your Coke products are served in a cold can with a glass of ice. Upscale breakfast/lunch/brunch menu with some things you don't typically see. I had the Yaz, which is a fried bologna sandwich. My friend had the veggie frittata. Great portions! No alcoholic drinks.

Denise J.

Yelp
Long drive and long wait but well worth it. I had "Craig's Benedict" with ham. It was the best Benedict I have ever had. My daughter loved the French toast with strawberries. We shared the loaded crispy potatoes-so good. The staff is very friendly. Our server Paige P was excellent! Very attentive, warm, friendly and provided fabulous service.

Yelp
I'd heard nothing but good things about The Sleepy Rooster. My friend and I went on a Sunday a little before noon, and while it was quite busy, we still did not have to wait very long for a table. We were greeted right away with water, I opted for their fresh squeezed OJ, my friend got coffee. They serve breakfast and lunch items. Both menus looked fantastic but I wanted breakfast food. I ordered a bunch of sides because everything sounded so dang good, it was hard to choose one entree. I ordered a pancake, a rooster cake (pancake with cheddar and spiced apples), polenta, house-made biscuit (which I dipped in the polenta), and crispy potatoes with onions. I don't usually eat a huge breakfast but the food here was so delicious I couldn't stop and I finished everything. I would definitely come here again!

Yelp
Amazing every time we go. Our favorite breakfast place hands down. We love the friendly staff, amazing food and their online waitlist.

Yelp
Decorated with rooster decor. Welcoming and open. Our server was very sweet. My husband ordered the chorizo hash and he enjoyed it. I had the goetta and eggs over medium with dry white toast. It was tasty. I liked that the toast was a really good bread. For two, eggs, toast and sausage it was a bit pricey. I would consider returning if in the area again.
google avatar

Gregory F.

Yelp
This is my mom and stepdad's post-pickleball breakfast tradition - a bit more expensive of an option, but I can certainly see why! The goetta is a must-try IMO, especially if you've never had it before. Such a unique texture - like a breakfast sausage patty had a baby with a hasbrown. The chorizo in my meal was so scrumptious - large pieces with the perfect char and super hearty. Very much a family-friendly place with more than just your standard brunch options - portions are generous and the service is great since everything is basically in one room so your waiter is always accessible. Super homey feel with the feel of a hometown staple and with very modern sleek. Loved it!
google avatar

Cory C.

Yelp
This was an excellent place for breakfast, my family and I were impressed! It's got a bright and welcoming atmosphere and friendly service. I ordered the Goetta and eggs (first time trying goetta): the goetta was seasoned like a breakfast sausage but was light, non-greasy, and thin. It is crumbly (and thus hard to share), but I'm very glad I tried it! My only criticism from my meal was that the eggs were a little bland - they would've tasted better if cooked in butter. The toast had a good texture and crunch (you can tell they don't just buy generic bagged bread from the grocery store). I also tried a bit of the biscuits and gravy: they make rich, creamy, and delicious sausage gravy. The potatoes were twice cooked, so they were crunchy and amazing. I'd love to come back here and I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Sleepy Rooter is a family and local favorite for a reason. I had the Craig's Benedict with Salmon. Today I had the Chorizo Hash. Always excellent and woth the trip. Great service & atmosphere.
google avatar

Molly F.

Yelp
Wonderful service, quick seating/turnover even on a busy Sunday. Food was fresh and tasty, not the typically oily American breakfast fare. Try the goetta!
google avatar

Katie F.

Yelp
Honestly what an amazing little gem. Nondescript in a plaza, but when you walk in it's so crisp, clean and modern. I would agree with other commenters that a reservation is necessary (we heard people being quoted an hour and a half wait at one point on a Saturday morning)! However, it's so worth it. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. And the food!? LOVE. I always appreciate when food is made locally, and The Sleepy Rooster doesn't disappoint. I got just a standard breakfast and my table got a rooster cake to share -- I'm so glad we did! I will definitely be back if I'm in the area.

Yelp
My mom and sisters and I came for brunch today and the experience was excellent!!! We ordered a few items to try and each of us enjoyed all the dishes. The Brie, bacon, and fig sandwich is a great choice as recommended by our chipper server Maddy. It was a welcome new spin on an old classic grilled cheese and a must try if you like Brie. The loaded potatoes were good but I would have preferred a different cheese to the mozzarella (pepper Jack or provolone possibly?) something that wasn't quite as tough once it cooked a bit but the crispy potatoes were a welcome treat. The chef stopped by towards the end to check on our table and that was a nice personable touch. Overall I highly recommend this place for both the food, ambience and service.

Yelp
Stopped here after a stay at the Inn at Chagrin. I've had this gem flagged to try for a long time and thankfully we were in the area. First of all, I was obsessed that would could put our name in for a table prior to arrival. How efficient is that? When we arrived, we popped in a little early and shockingly they had a table ready (I'd recommend popping in to let them know you arrived just in case they can seat you earlier as we had 3 reservations in front of us but they had multiple tables open and ready to go). This is a cute little family ran restaurant. You can tell they are loved by how busy they were but more importantly in the quality of food! Everything was exceptional from the menu selections, to the homemade biscuit, gravy, and hot sauce. If they bottled and sold their hot sauce I would have scooped that right up haha. Shoot- I would have taken home that sausage gravy too! Everything was FANTASTIC! The portions were perfect: I couldn't finish my entire meal and took it home for the next day. It reheated beautifully. Everything came out fresh, hot, and cooked to order. We also didn't wait long at all from when our order was placed to it arriving at the table. I legit am craving our meal and can't wait to go back! If you're in the area, please make the trip to stop by- you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
First time today and I just don't understand why people go here Service was extremely slow at 11.O'clock AM food was OK nothing to rave.About, but the bad part with 2 breakfast basic breakfast. The bill with tip was fifty dollars . I had a regular breakfast with 2 eggs, toast sausage and coffee. $415. I understand you should make a profit , but wow we didn't

Kelly F.

Yelp
The wide selection of food choices, from egg dishes to chicken sandwiches makes everyone in my group happy. I can't seem to stray from the vegetable frittata ! I'm the Only one who thinks the coffee isn't 'roasty' enough, so I just get OJ ! Service is friendly, ambiance is bright & welcoming.

Yelp
Great local spot close to home just about a mile or two away. a little over rated though!!

Yelp
Here is an addition to my review showing yesterday's meal it was completely awesome and I will order the same thing again next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Needless to say this was one the best breakfast spots I've ever had around this area. Both of the owners were working closely with their team preparing and serving the food quickly. Everyone was very friendly from the moment we walked in. The ambiance was pleasant and warm. The decor was really cute and the music wasn't loud. Overall a wonderful experience and highly recommended. Anything on the menu will taste good. If you have a sweet tooth i recommend the French toast.

Yelp
Absolute FIND for breakfast! Simple but darling Rooster themed CLEAN atmosphere! Went on a weekday and not super crowded. Hostess was delightful. Our server Paige could not have been more helpful with decisions and she was FUN! The shareable potatoes with melted cheese, crunchy bacon, HM ranch and scallions were TDF! I ordered from the "secret" menu( their online website) a perfectly grilled home made bread crunchy peanut butter and jelly(grape, strawberry or orange!) It was over the moon good! Coffee was awesome. It is WORTH the drive. I'll be back!

David V.

Yelp
Food has never disappointed always the same excellent !! Service can sometimes be on the slow side when very crowded "Dah" staff are always friendly and do a very good job it can be somewhat noisy when crowded again "Dah" do to hard surfaces the restaurant is kept Very Clean people that complain about price go to a cheap grezzy spoon those that complain about wait times go to a chain fast food drive through the S.R. serves a quality product cooked properly ! That's why their it's crowded

Yelp
A family favorite. We've been here multiple times! Really great brunch options, yummy scrambles, German sausage options, crispy potatoes and the biscuits are so delicious! I do recommend getting on the mobile waitlist on a weekend before arriving or you'll have a long wait! It's very popular for weekend brunch :)
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
We went on a weekend and there was a wait, but their website allows you to join the list before you even arrive. The bacon and brie grilled cheese was exceptional!! My husband had the short grilled cheese was just as good! Great service and delicious coffee made it a perfect visit.

Yelp
Awarded Top 100 Place to eat in 2022. I suspect this for its uniqueness. I had the chorizo hash and eggs. They made my eggs exactly as I requested. The chorizo was amazing. Plenty of chorizo- no cutting back here. The hash also had potatoes, caramelized onions and citrus gremolata (had to ask what this was! Orange juice and spices!) really enjoyed my breakfast. I topped it off with superb Guatemalan dark roast coffee that was amazingly smooth. No need for cream or sugar. Also a nice touch that the owner came around and thanked each table for coming in. The overall service was splendid.

Elisabeth H.

Yelp
Wonderful! I got the eggs Benedict and my boyfriend chose the chorizo hash and eggs. We added cut up fruit to take to my father. Very happy. Especially with hot sauce.

Yelp
I don't take time to write reviews often but it is my pleasure to write this one. I was looking for a new breakfast place to try and was seeing nothing. But, then I stumbled upon this gem. They have the best pancakes called rooster cakes that have cheese and bits of apple in them w local Geauga syrup, they are so good I've made special trips just to get some. In addition, this place has the most consistently kind and friendly staff of any place I've gone to in a long time. It's not just the manager but all the wait staff and bus staff whether they are attending to you personally or not, they speak and smile and seem genuinely happy to be working there and to interact with all of us as customers. Even the chef and kitchen crew speak and smile. This is a special place and if you havnt visited yet, you absolutely should. I cannot say enough about this Resteraunt. I was so happy to have found it recently about a month and a half ago that I have been back many times since then. If you like great home cooked delicious brunch food, you will love the Sleepy Rooster!

Yelp
Who would have guessed you could find such a delicious brunch spot tucked into a strip mall in the Bainbridge/Chagrin Falls area. My husband and I shared: - Fried Chicken on a Biscuit (The Sweet) - Pork Belly BLT - The West End Everything was quite delicious. The BLT was the best version of a BLT I've ever had. The tomato was fresh, the pork belly was tender, and the garlic herb mayo was the perfect addition. The West End was the perfect combination of flavors--savory and sweet. It was a very large portion size. I'd recommend getting it on rye bread. The portion sizes seem to vary greatly. The West End was huge. The BLT was normal size. Then the Fried Chicken on a Biscuit had about two bites of chicken on it. I'd absolutely come back here again! There is a lot more I'd like to try on the menu.
google avatar

Corey S.

Yelp
We went here on a whim and it was absolutely delicious. To be honest the menu was kinda small but I've learned the smaller the menu the better each item on there is and that completely held true for here. I got the eggs Benedict with sausage and it was absolutely perfect. The eggs were perfectly runny and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. The biscuit was kind of hard but with the yolk from the egg and the sauce it was perfect and the sausage was different than I'd ever had but so flavorful. My wife got the Traditional Breakfast and said the same thing that everything was perfect. We will be back. 1 thing to know. They have call ahead seating for up to 30 minutes ahead of when you will be there! It definitely saved us a wait!

Anna S.

Yelp
Good service but prepared to wait for table on weekend! We registered online and still waited. Food was excellent really enjoyed benedict dish and side of potatos.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
We had a delicious breakfast where everything was done with perfection. The poached eggs were just right, the toast crunchy and thick with marvelous marmalade. Flavorful sausage of two varieties and yummy Yukon potatoes. The atmosphere was clean and homey and the service was friendly. We will be back.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Great traditional breakfast great pancakes and eggs and bacon. Great prices and fast. Service. They have great bacon and breakfast eggs. Plenty of parking
google avatar

Ankita G.

Yelp
I never thought I would find the best fried chicken in a biscuit Cleveland. I have become a big fan of this dish. The biscuits were so perfectly baked that they were so flaky and crispy. These was the best combination of serving fried chicken and I absolutely enjoyed each and every bite of it. 5 stars for this dish. I also loved their French onion soup and the potatoes they serve on the side. Definitely must visit place when you are in Cleveland. The staff was amiable and the service was quick.
google avatar

Zola T.

Yelp
Adorable small breakfast place. I think they make their own sausage parts. Great service from a smart waitress.

Nik S.

Yelp
Food is always delicious! The service is always super friendly as well. The goetta, sausage, crispy potatoes and fried buffalo chicken biscuit are my go to's.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our breakfast. Asked the waitress what we should try if we never make it back to town to eat here and she quickly rattled off the must haves. I might add, she was spot on and the meal was delicious!
google avatar

Daniel N.

Yelp
Exefptional quality food, no seed oils! :) The service is great, once you're seated. There is always a very long wait if you don't call/reserve ahead of time. I believe on the weekends/Sunday they are booked out a week or two in advance. Beautiful scenic restaurant overall with high quality food, Farm Fresh Eggs!
google avatar

Nikki T.

Yelp
Chorizo hash yesssss! Cute atmosphere and definitely popular. Tried the chorizo hash with eggs and toast with a side pancake and real maple syrup. Really enjoyed our breakfast. Also they have a house made hot sauce that was a yummy addition.
google avatar

Mark E.

Yelp
Great place to eat, meet friends and from what conversations we could hear, meet people for work meetings. The place is very clean, modern and well-presented. The menu is simple but also purposeful. Service is very prompt and LOTS of personality (in a good way); actually looks like they enjoy and care to be there. It has the Chorizo hash, that was really tasty. My wife gave me her toast, so I was able to fill-up eating half my meal. The set-up of having the ability to pay with a QR code was also very convenient and reduces wait time! This is such a great offering for this part of the community, central to a lot of residential locations. We will be returning, as this is one of our favorite breakfast spots. #supportlocal

Bobby Y.

Yelp
Revisited this lovely place and had the chorizo hash.Wow! Enough for two, this generous portion of sausage and potatoes was delicious! The service is wonderful and I look forward to eating there again and again. It's one of those places that you can't wait to go to!

Yelp
Amazing food and a great staff! Get the Benedict, it's unreal. A diamond in the rough.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food! We love the atmosphere, service and most of all, THE FOOD. We go out of our way to visit the Sleepy Rooster! We will be back again soon.

Yelp
No frills brunch spot, this place is perfect for an ideal casual breakfast in Chagrin!! 5/5 service Came here close to 2pm (closing time) and all tables were full on a Saturday, but we were seated within 10 minutes! Our server got us drinks almost instantaneously and took our orders promptly. She was super friendly and answered all our questions. 4/5 food Our food arrived with a short wait and everything tasted great. However, one of the fried chicken in a biscuits turned out to be undercooked and had to be returned to the kitchen. Our server was very professional and apologetic for the mishap, and offered a replacement or other options on the menu. Even the manager came out to apologize. I appreciated how respectfully this was handled. Besides the chicken, the rest of the food was delicious. Would highly recommend the mushroom biscuits and gravy!! Sooo much umami flavor. Definitely a reliable brunch menu with many options. 5/5 ambiance This spot comes off as clean and welcoming! Very modern minimalistic vibes. Many tables for small groups. Everyone was pleasant, would definitely return!

Lonny R.

Yelp
It's fancier than a diner inside, with a classy yet relaxed atmosphere. I want the people that decorated this place to come do my house too. We got the Benedict and the avocado toast- both were delicious! The Benedict's sausage tasted high quality. I don't usually order avocado toast at restaurants because I feel like it's always overpriced but this one proved me wrong! I'd order it again a and again there- toast was just perfect, salad dressed just right on the side.
google avatar

Deb B.

Yelp
I met my sister on the East side for breakfast. This spot deserves its great ratings. We got there early because it's relatively small and we expected a wait. We were seated right away at 9am on a Saturday. It's a fresh updated farm style look. Super friendly staff who truly seemed to enjoy working there. Food was excellent and arrived fast and hot. The Craig's Benedict was fresh and mouth watering delicious. I ordered the sausage version but I don't think you can go wrong with three choices or meat (also smoked salmon or bacon). My sister asked where they get their bread for toast. (On the Rise). Guess where our next stop was? I am a West sider but it's a pretty drive. Worth the hype.

Anthony P.

Yelp
Great food! Timed the waitlist just right. My family enjoyed a great breakfast. Will go back

Gabe A.

Yelp
My brother Andrew introduced me to this place. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. I highly recommend it.

Megan M.

Yelp
Waited over 2 hours by using the online waitlist until the app showed we were next in line only to be told there were actually 7 parties ahead of us and hostess did not apologize, was snappy, said she didn't know what was going on with the system today nor could tell us how much longer we'd have to wait. Drove over 30 mins to get there. Decided to leave and not wait any longer then within 5 minutes of leaving got a text our table was ready. Seriously wth. What a waste of time. Hugely disappointing and will NOT recommend ever going there.
