I met a couple of friends here for a business brunch on a Sunday afternoon, and I was blown away. First and foremost, I’ll just begin by saying this is not the type of restaurant that you will want to “drive and park” if you eat here. Please, please, please save yourself time and a headache and take the train. Traffic and parking is horrendous in this area, especially on Sunday for brunch. I learned this the hard way, drive around the block 3 times before settling on a parking space on “S” street which was two blocks away from the restaurant.
Although parking was a nightmare, the food was amazing and made up for it! It was cloudy and warm day, so they had the windows open, and it felt like we were sitting on the patio outside. It reminded me of how the businesses open their windows in the spring and summer in Boston. Super cool and nice! Our waitress, Porsche or Porscha, was amazing and knowledgeable! She was so friendly and personable! We all liked having her as our waitress, she was so on point and recommended several items for us to try. I started with the French 75 slushie, and it was wonderful! I usually order the French 75 on my own, so it was nice to see it as a cocktail on the menu. It was very refreshing! I loved it! Now, I will say, I read a few reviews before my visit and one of them raved about the fried chicken and Porsche recommended it too. So that’s what we ordered. Now, listen, there was enough chicken for two of us to share and it was hands down THE FREAKING BEST FRIED CHICKEN I’VE HAD IN A LONG TIME! I mean it was flavorful down to the bone with a nice kick! Most of the time all of the flavor is in the skin or the breader, but not this chicken! All of it, the skin/breader and the meat was full of flavor! I don’t eat fried chicken very often because, I’m not a big fan of it, and when I do eat it I have to be in the mood for it. Well, I’ll always be in the mood for this chicken. It was that DAMN GREAT! This chicken got me cuss’n 🤣😂 Anyway, my friend had the catfish BLT and lord have mercy Jesus! That catfish needs to be a platter (as suggested by my friend)! Best fish I’ve had in a while too! Seasoned to perfection! The jalapeño cheddar grits were ok, they needed just a little salt. If they’d had some salt they would’ve been on point. No super bad, but you could tell it was missing something. The buttermilk waffle was fantastic! The blueberry compote and citrus mascarpone (tasted like a orange dreamcicle). I was so satisfied with brunching here, that I would fight traffic and parking to eat here again! I cannot wait to come back!
