@eater

"Paperwork and permitting may have delayed a highly anticipated New Year’s Eve debut, but a self-described “upscale 1920s experience” is back on track to bring dining, libations, and gambling to Lake Las Vegas. Taking over the former home of Black Pepper Grill, Brooklyn’s, and Proof Tavern, The Speakeasy will fill the roomy, two-story 6,440-square-foot vacant space, located a short distance from the operator's own Mimi & Coco’s and Luna Rossa restaurants. Set to be overseen by Joseph Serrano, general manager of another Montelago Village tenant, The Pub, the retro concept will occupy 3,366 square feet on the ground floor, adding 56 seats including booths, five gaming stations, and a bar embedded with 10 gaming machines. Upstairs will provide access to east and west patio balconies, 27 additional dining seats and a cigar lounge stocked with retail cabinets. Seeking permission from the City of Henderson to be open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight and closing at 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, The Speakeasy is promising a “classic food and beverage program,” and on the weekends, customers will be able to dine to the accompaniment of a baby grand piano." - Bradley Martin

My husband and I are staying in Lake Las Vegas for a few nights. We found this place on our first night in town and we've been back every night since. The atmosphere is relaxing and they've put a lot of thought into the decore. We got a tour of the place last night. Check out the upstairs cigar bar. Very nice outdoor patio views. They also have private seating behind the bookcase for a real speakeasy feel. The service was excellent. I can't say enough good things about this place. We look forward to bringing our family here next month when they visit.

I was in town for a work event. Our team of 11 called ahead for dinner. We got there and it was a terrible experience. They took our order and skipped someone. We waited over an hour and half our room came- just the fried chicken sliders. It would still be an additional 30 minutes for the other Entrées. We had a few drinks, and those were fine. After waiting over an hour, having half the meals served with Mediocre food, we left. We opted to pay for the food received and leave. When trying to address the issues they did not have a manager on staff. It was one bar tender, one server, and one cook. As we sat waiting for our ride back to the hotel the manager drove to the restaurant to attempt to have a conversation. The experience was wildly negative and I would never do this again.

Lovely place with a super friendly staff. They have live music on certain days and unique cocktails. Cigar rooms are on the top floor and hidden room that makes them super unique.

Google
At the time, it was the only spot to gamble at Lake Las Vegas. The drinks are good and it's an awesome place to smoke a cigar. Staff was very friendly too. However the food we ordered was not good. Enjoy a drink here, gamble for a bit if you like, but eat elsewhere would be my suggestion.

Google
Such a great place for people over 21 years old. Live music, awesome food, amazing interior, you can dance if do you want to.. two floors. Good for dating. Verified and highly recommended. 👌

Google
Came here to drink, but ended up gambling at the bar. The vibes were really chill. Wasn't too busy, but there were locals trickling in and out. We ordered the hummus du jour and the charcuterie board. Decent variety for the charcuterie board and size as well. The hummus of the day was basil and tomato. It was made fresh and it was delicious. It came with tomato, cucumber, carrots, and pita. We both really enjoyed the appetizers and the hospitality. Great service and friendly workers! Would come back just to kick back and relax!

Google
The place was absolutely epic! The staff was amazing and was quick with a joke or pleasant conversation. The feel of the place was great from the bar to the lounge to the cigar room. The only reason why it is 4 out of 5 stars is that the prices were a bit high. In all honesty though we are talking 4.75 stars.

What makes the Speakeasy awesome is the staff. Renee, Michelle and Erik are amazing and so attentive. If you haven't stopped in you are missing out.

Yelp
Tucked away in "the village" at Lake Las Vegas is a beautifully decorated speakeasy bar. It's fantastic and is full of small alcoves and furnishings set up to allow small groups to mingle and talk. It has intriguing decor and while the music is present, it is at a volume that allows for conversation without yelling. The staff is friendly and welcoming and while attentive, they are discreet. If you are embroiled in a conversation, they will silently pass by and return a little later to check you. We tried a few cocktails and while they were all good, my favorite was the Old fashioned. Anyway, if you are in the area and fancy a few drinks, you can't go wrong here. They're awesome!

Yelp
A friend came through town and we were looking for a place to talk and catch up over a drink and a bite and I remembered I had wanted to see what Lake Las Vegas was all about. We arrived looking for the Pub, but turns out we ended up at the Speakeasy instead. This was all fine and good because the ambience on the table side of the place was exactly what we were looking for. We were told to sit anywhere we fancied since it wasn't busy and we chose the large homey dining table by the window and the baby grand piano. Normally, I absolutely will not stay at a place that allows smoking, however, the place was well ventilated and the doors were open, so whatever smoke I smelled from the bar area when we arrived wasn't as terrible as it it could have been. It was happy hour, but I ordered off menu and got a margarita with Hornitos. The waitress offered Casamigos initially, citing it's smoothness, but I don't care for that stuff. I told her Casamigos is tequila for vodka drinkers and tequila ought not be smooth. I like the bitey bite from a good tequila, especially if I'm mixing it with citrus. Anyway, so I said the snobby bartender thing and then I politely ordered some bacon fig flatbread to share with my friend. There was a flatbread similar to what I ordered on the happy hour menu but it did not include the bacon and would have been smaller so I just ordered from the regular menu. After my delicious golden margarita, I switched to a beer and found that sharing the flatbread was a great snack to tide us over for exploring the lake before going to dinner somewhere else closer to his lodging. I was told there was a karaoke / open mic sort of event coming up but she lost me at the Taylor Swift theme. Maybe another night with another theme!

Yelp
My wife and I started a Saturday night bar tour. Each Saturday, a new bar. We made reservations and upon our arrival we asked the bartender. He basically said sit anywhere aside from the table that has a reservation plate. Hmmm. I told him we had a reservation. He said sit anywhere, doesn't matter. We found on small table, that was only made for two drinks. Not dinner. The bartender came over through the menu on the table and ask in a rude tone. What do you want. Not even time to open the menu. I told him we needed a minute and he said fine and left. After about 10 seconds of looking at a dull menu, we left and went next door to the Pub. Which was excellent and the table was made for drinks and food. Stay away from this place. Not a speakeasy and the bartenders look like amateur night

Yelp
Came here for a 50th birthday gathering, it did not disappoint. Perfect weather to sit outside on the patio upstairs. The NBA playoffs were on and there was a TV in the middle patio, there are 3, all have glass between them so you can watch also. The chacuterie board paired well with drinks and conversation. The patio areas are very big, and there is a full bar upstairs, hopefully you get Amanda she was great! Between the cigars and drinks and good company when we ordered none of us took pictures of our food but trust me order the STEAK and garlic fries! It's a lot of food, but very tasty. There is an elevator in the back corner, so upstairs is very ADA accessible.

Yelp
I'm a fan of this place for the poker bar aspect, as it's the only place to indulge at the Lake. The decor is a bit overzealous, staying true to the Speakeasy theme. It's on a lake, why not go with a beach theme....just sayin'. The menu, which changes frequently, features mostly bar food. The cheese sticks are good. I think they still have cocktails on the menu, but probably not the fancy ones like when it first opened. They have special drinks listed on a board at the bar, and my current fave is Chispa Rita in a can. Another is Lovelady Paleo Porter also in a can. The music has been mostly 70s & 80s lately, which I dig! The place has a nice vibe, but hasn't been that busy most of the times I've been here. Whiskey is the featured bevvie, at least judging by the whiskey displayed on the bar. The place is pretty big, with a bar and seating area on the 1st floor (there's also a piano). The 2nd floor has a bar and seating, and more restrooms. The patio is available for dining as well. As with most establishments at the Lake, business here is like the tides- up and down.

Yelp
Love the food, spotless service and the attractive ambiance of this place. And a shout-out to the chef! We are coming back very soon.

Robert M.

Yelp
Loved this place! Drinks are really good and the bartenders and staff are amazing. Cigars were really stale and ready to crumble on the first batch we got. But they replaced them at no cost with some better ones. Restrooms are really clean. And the entire atmosphere just has a great vibe and really comfortable. Flatbread pizza was really good too! Can't wait to come back to this place again!

Rena H.

Yelp
Great vibes and interactive entertainment plus cool cocktails are the reason to keep coming back to this gem! Great service and a charcuterie to die for! We dressed retro and had such fun!

Gayl B.

Yelp
This place extremely hard to find! We were attending a wedding reception here at about 8:30 p.m. on a Friday evening. Used my phone's google map to get us here, but then it was like "where is it?" Finally, I ran down the steps to find the place and noticed just golf carts down there. Not the easiest place to navigate with the 95-year-old with me! So, my aunt and cousin were let out and the hubby and I went to park the car in the parking garage and find our way back (partly in the dark). The reception took the entire second floor, but it was so smoke filled. We spent most of our time on a cool little balcony off the main room, but the heavy smoke was also drifting up from below us. The concept is really cool (and I'd like to have seen the hidden room behind the bookcase that others have mentioned), but it appears that Nevada hasn't really got the message about smoking that was sent several decades ago.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Val treats us like family when we come in. The drinks are so yummy and delicious. Many specials to choose from. Must visit. The vibe in this place is welcoming.

Yelp
This place always has great food and service. We went to music bingo recently and had so much fun. Hope it becomes a staple! Only thing is we wish there were more seats available.

S. R.

Yelp
Us locals can't wait until this place has an invested owner who is onsite at least 5 days a week. There was another missed opportunity after music bingo to make A LOT of money. The food has come a long way, and music bingo was fresh and fun also. However, within 5 minutes of the bingo being over there wasn't music or a DJ. Plus we saw two groups come in and walk out because no one greeted them and they didn't know what to make of the place. We hope the owner sells to someone who is 100% all in!

Philip S.

Yelp
It's big and beautiful great people good food excellent drinks very cheap friends every where

Vanesa H.

Yelp
So much fun! After ordering a fun little drink that came inside a book all on the sly we spoke with the bartender and he made me the most perfect gin martini I have ever had. Staff is very knowledgeable and the ambience can't be better! We have been back taking friends from around town whenever we are in the area.

Becky K.

Yelp
New speakeasy style bar located in beautiful Lake Las Vegas. You feel like you take a step back in time when you enter this 1920s style bar. The furniture is an eclectic mix of oversized chairs and couches. Look closely and you could find a secret passage through a bookcase. The waitstaff wears flapper inspired outfits. You can sit at the bar which does have gaming, sit in the lounge area, or try the cigar bar upstairs. The drink menu does rival some of the more upscale establishments in Las Vegas. I had the Bee's Knees and the French 75 which were both equally delicious. I can't wait to bring our friends for a night out!

Theresa B.

Yelp
A BIG thank you to The Speakeasy! We had so much fun at the Music Bingo event. The staff was friendly, as usual, and the food was amazing. We were not the only ones having a great time, the place was packed!! Can't wait for the next time, but we'll definitely be back for other events.

Mallory E.

Yelp
Music Bingo was a BLAST!!! It was a full house and the staff was amazing--so much fun. We can't wait for the next one!

Shawn L.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in the village. It is truly authentic inside and has gaming. The staff are amazing as well. Everyone from Rene, Ron, and Valerie treat you like a VIP every time. You can go and watch all the games there as well.

Gwyn D.

Yelp
Nice quiet location, locals with chill vibe. Wait staff was too notch, attentive but not intrusive. Fun seating options, small couches, barrel chairs, lounge chairs, bar top seating, dining table and chairs. Patio out front and balcony seating next to the cigar lounge upstairs. I'll definitely be back to try dinner.

Gabriel L.

Yelp
Cool location! Enjoy a good cigar and drink! Would love to see Lake Las Vegas make a come back!

Jadrien G.

Yelp
No problem with this place it's better than nothing. It's the only place to gamble in Lake Las Vegas. They have cocktails, beer, cigars, and bar top gaming! This place is a great spot if you're into smoking indoors. Staff is always friendly and helpful with the customers!

Curt G.

Yelp
The Funnest place in Lake Las Vegas. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. REAL cocktails!!! Love the bar!

Juli S.

Yelp
Highly recommend. Dined here on a Friday. My mom and I walked by to check out the menu around 3 when the hostess told us that they'd have music later on and we could reserve a table if we'd like. We sat right in front of the band in super cozy seating. Our waitress Sunny was super attentive and constantly checking on us to refill our glasses and clear our space. The Nashville hot sliders and jumbo shrimp cocktail were outstanding. There was outdoor seating too with open doors so they could enjoy the live music as well. Don't skip this spot!

Nadia X.

Yelp
Where is Ron the bartender ? Your service has been horrible lately since he has not been there. For many years they have gone thru several staff seems to be a Management issue here.

Laurie B.

Yelp
Great place to kick back with a drink and listen to live music. Gamble a little at the bar and chat with an absolute gem- Pearl the bartender. She made our two night experience fabulous and we will be back. (From Seattle)

Sergio K.

Yelp
This is simply the best place in Lake Las Vegas - great 1920s vibe - legit cocktails - delicious food. Try their escargot and / or deviled eggs. Prohibition style cocktails on the menu are just delicious or tell the bartender to surprise you. If that wasn't enough - cigar lounge upstairs. Incredibly their house blend is rolled just a few miles away in Henderson but is an on point stick.

Aaron L.

Yelp
We love the food, the service and the ambiance of The Speakeasy! Nestled in the quiet area of Lake Las Vegas, this unassuming little joint has impressed me every time I have gone! The drinks are awesome, of course you can play some video poker, and the staff is always great. Love stopping by every time I come to LLV!

Trevor W.

Yelp
Great service and atmosphere. This place transformed our evening into an amazing experience. Highly recommended!!

Eliza Mae C.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY LOVE this hidden gem at Lake Las Vegas! After we finished at the aqua park, we were strolling around trying to find the perfect spot to fill our stomachs, and we definitely did. We ordered a bunch of hors d'oeuvres and a couple of drinks, which were all on point and delicious. The only critique we have is changing the mini toasts to a softer or less tough bread. If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out! The owner put her heart & soul in decorating the place and it's AMAZING. I already set a date with my mom to bring her here! Thank you so much for creating such an amazing space, and it was such a pleasure meeting Steven and chatting. We'll be back soon!!

Gabriel R.

Yelp
If you are looking for a quiet evening out, this is not the place. I made reservations for a date out only to find the place in Yelp is not the same place today. Photos of an extensive dinner menu are no longer applicable. The restaurant is more of a bar/lounge with the menu reflecting just that. One star not only because the photos were deceiving, but having made a reservation I expected a table, instead I was lead to a couch with a drink menu and a "dinner" menu with six or seven items total. Not the service I was expecting.

Edwin C.

Yelp
Worse whiskey sours you ever drink.. already returned few drinks and not better at all.. and for sure very expensive. Place is good but the drinks are not worth it based on prices.

Lynne W.

Yelp
We love jazz! Uli is the best. We've been following him for years. He never disappoints. The best deal in town is the steak sandwich. Love this place

Luis R.

Yelp
Chill vibes , great drinks Live music was nice , everyone was having a great time :)

Ben G.

Yelp
What an amazing throwback feel you get as soon as you walk into this bar! With furnishings that represent the time and feel of that time and culture. Especially with times as today like the "pandemic", this makes you feel like you are thrown back in times of tradition and fighting for your rights/Freedom. Thank you for the experience like no other! Great job, Joe (manager)!

Christina K.

Yelp
Need to change your website. Your not open until 5. Don't like driving here to find out your closed.

Paul R.

Yelp
We live in the area and we were waiting anxiously for Speakeasy to open. We now go at least once a week. The drinks are amazing - we crafted -I recommend the Whiskey Sour. The appetizers are very good. The service is always excellent - special recognition to Candace.

Matthew M.

Yelp
This is the most unprofessional place imaginable. The staff drink to excess and constantly try to get people to leave. They always close early and are rude about it every time. The WORST.

Paul B.

Yelp
The interior is very nice. I had a cocktail that was priced right and a nice pour. The problem I had was the choice of a 20.00 cutting fee if you brought your own cigar or a small selection of overpriced house cigars to purchase. Might be a nice bar and restaurant, but not a good cigar bar.

Dan R.

Yelp
The food! The drinks! The service! But most of all the atmosphere! It is amazing! Gaming at the bar if that's what you like. Music from the WWII era.

Vic C.

Yelp
Step back in time to a place where glamour, great food, and a cigar nightcap was in style and you are at The Speakeasy. I took a party of eight and everyone enjoyed the dish they ordered. Afterwards, we relaxed with drinks and cigars while listing to crooners. If you're looking for a special experience, visit the speakeasy.

Lucky F.

Yelp
Stunning establishment. You're instantly transported to a bar/restaurant worthy of a scene in the Great Gatsby. Filled with furniture in pristine condition. The cocktail waitresses and bartenders are super kind. The drinks are consistently good. Beautiful addition to Lake Las Vegas.

Daniel P.

Yelp
I've come to this place since they opened. Went today a new bartender. Three drinks and a shrimp cocktail $120 with $20 tip. playing bartop machines lost $45. No comp, no nothing. Never ever was this the situation in the past. STAY AWAY!!!! Will never go back what a rip off!

Jewel W.

Yelp
I do not recommend. I made reservations 3 weeks in advance. And they said we are booked and turned us away. The young girl who told us assumed we didn't have money, saying do you know how expensive it is, about $600. I think because of our casual dress. She was rude and stupid. We have lots of money. Do not waste your time. They have stupid children running it - who only let their friends in. I will complain to the owners of the hotel.

Jonathan W.

Yelp
First time checking this place out after moving to Lake Las Vegas. Service was great and the food was yummy! I ordered a whiskey sour and it was tasty! I'll definitely be back.

Rachael J.

Yelp
Ok, seriously...this place is AMAZING! Bartender, Candice, sooooo friendly and attentive (not mention gorgeous)! If you come here please get the pork chops. I have NEVER had such amazing pork chops in my LIFE!! If I could give 6 stars I would!!

Kathy F.

Yelp
Giving it 3 stars because the shrimp appetizer was excellent. When we sat down and the entire staff left the room we should have known service would be less than stellar. The bartender left the bar 3 times in the 40 minutes we were there. Then we got the tab and non of the 3 drinks we had were comped. The bartender said we were playing nickles and needed to play 1.25. We had played $60 cash max bet on quarters and towards the end switched to nickel keno. Guess the owners look for beauty and not brains when they hired the bartenders

Bill B.

Yelp
My wife and I were just asked to leave after being seated, they informed us that we could use a chair to eat dinner in since they had forgotten that another couple had planned to eat at our table. obviously the other couple must have had more money than us and must have known someone who works there. I called the manager and she wasn't helpful, PS we have lived in SouthShore for over 7 years and we have never had this type of rude treatment from the restaurants in the Village at Lake Las Vegas. We always try to support local businesses since we own our local business but there level of discourteousness should not be accepted by any person. Shame on The Speakeasy

Sheryl A.

Yelp
Outstanding food and the manager waited on us. He was delightful and warm, very welcoming. We look forward to returning.

Michele S.

Yelp
Cannot say enough great things ! Sunny is just wonderful so pleasant and accommodating everything was perfect our food, wine, seating, and especially service was great!
