The Spence

We had to try The Spence just because we love all the restaurants at The Gleneagles Hotel, parent resort to the Townhouse, so we thought the quality will be equally good and it did not disappoint at all! The staff was super friendly, the services was amazing, our waiter was very attentive and readily available when needed. The food was just amazing! Very fresh ingredients and very flavourful, I absolutely loved the butter than came with the bread, it tasted like heaven! We loved every bite of our food, we also loved the jalapeño pure some of the oysters came with. The cheese and dessert trolly was awesome, we don’t eat sweets so we went for the cheese platter, and you have to order a glass of port, I loved how the bring the big bottle and pour it right at the table, we thought it was a small pour but the sommelier did top it up a bit more as requested. We ended our dinner date with a cocktail at their beautiful bar. Definitely an absolutely wonderful experience. You have to take time to observe and appreciate the gorgeous ceiling in the restaurant, absolutely stunning!

One of the best restaurants and restaurant experiences I have ever encountered. The ambiance when you enter is amazing. So much grandeur. The service is superb, very friendly and knowledgable. The cocktails were delicious and the food was incredible. Plenty of gluten free options and delicious ones too. Must go when in Edinburgh

Afternoon Tea was superb! My first time in Scotland and first time and The Spence and I was blown away! Beautiful decor, amazing tea and even better service from Jess and Sasha who made the experience a 10/10 🥰 I loved it so much I’m lost for words which may be unhelpful but honestly you just have to go. Treat your day with a visit and be as happy as I am right now! So glad I had the extras too to take my Afternoon Tea to the next level.

Fantastic experience at the Spence! The interior is very impressive, plenty of space - in addition to the quality of the food and service, it is definitely worth coming for a special occasion. My daughter and I were having Afternoon tea together. Thank you for your wonderful service!

Impressing with atmosphere—perfect for business lunches, dates, celebrations, afternoon tea, or sipping cocktails under the dome. Quality, modern Scottish‑inspired cuisine—not ultra‑refined tasting‑menu finesse. The décor is warm and notably Instagrammable, with Tiffany-style lamps, plush banquettes, contemporary art, and comfortable seating throughout .

This is the most beautiful building! Food was tasty and our waitron had a bit of an attitude initially, wS short with us and made the table feel awkward. 5 dined and the food was really nice. We are big eaters so many of the dishes were tried. I ate the beetroot starter and pasta pockets followed by the chateaubriand. Not usually a steak eater but it was tender and delicious. Overall nice atmosphere and a special evening.

I've pasted a wonderful time here - such a beautiful place. The food was very good and the cocktails as well. Megan was amazing as a waitress, certainely one of the best I've ever met : really kind and with a beautiful smile all along I will be back next Time for sure.

We had 2 dinners Here, and Both were amazing! The Service Staff were very Professional and friendly. Our waitress was very Kind and Even Made a List of places for us to visit, since it was our First time in the city. The Atmosphere was very cozy yet chic. The Food and Cocktails were delicious. The also have an amazing selection of Desserts. I would definately come here again. The Spence is a Must visit for anyone coming to visit the City.
