When we arrived at the hotel, The Sporting Club was the only restaurant still open (or, at least, the others were on the cusp of closing, as it was 8:50 p.m.). So my party of three headed to The Sporting Club. After taking a moment to finish their conversation, two greeters asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. They said it would be a few minutes because trivia was just wrapping up. I peeked into the restaurant because I was eager to see the locale Open Table had called an "illustrious sanctuary." The restaurant was not even half full, and trivia was over! This got me wondering why we couldn't be seated. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes.
The inside of The Sporting Club is not what I would call an illustrious sanctuary, but it definitely has a great ambience. It's somewhere I can see hanging out with friends after work. There's great energy and lots of space while still feeling intimate. The TVs are massive!
We waited quite a while for a server to come to our table. This was a challenge throughout our meal. When we finished our meal, we had to flag down a busser to request our check. Even after that, we waited a long time.
However, the food was delicious! Our server made helpful recommendations and was super knowledgeable about the menu.
Was the restaurant having an off night? I don't know. I can only judge it by my experience. And based on that, I deem it three stars. After all, the service you receive is a huge part of the dining experience.
