"This restaurant inside a Fontainebleau shopping center has the crunchiest queso frito and one of our favorite churrascos in Miami. It’s a casual full-service restaurant with a small dining room and walls painted the colors of the Nicaraguan flag. Colorful ceramic and wire roosters perch themselves on floating shelves, watching guests eat tostones. If you’re in a rush, get the gallo bowl, which is their take on a fritanga with tender chunks of carne asada, gallo pinto, little cubes of fried cheese, maduros, and sour cream. But if you’re here for a Saturday family dinner, order their tender, juicy churrasco. It’s covered in chimichurri, dangles off the giant plate, and comes with your choice of three sides. Service is fast, so you can count the spots on the gallos in the time it takes your food to arrive. " - carlos c olaechea, virginia otazo

The food was delicious. The atmosphere was good. The place is very clean. The service was great but slow. The staff was friendly but the food took long and the restaurant was not very busy. I do recommend the food. I had Indio Viejo and the taste was amazing 👏. Another thing is the service charge that was included. I don't like that at restaurants because this is aside from the tip. No complaints about the food. Tasty!

Great food and portions. Very tasty and filling.

Google
We visited back in early January 2025. Wow, what an awesome Nicaraguan restaurant! The ambience was so chic and modern but also pure Nicaragua. But the food, that was amazing. All the dishes we ordered were so tasty and well made. Presentation was awesome too. The service was great, too! We have found a new must-stop restaurant to come to every time we visit Miami. The Gallo Pinto and queso Frito were so good. The drinks were also very delicious! Highly recommend if you love Nicaraguan food or want to try for the first time.

Google
We finally decided to check this little place out! Great staff & service. Food was delicious and flavorful plus it came out fast. Homemade Sangria was unique and refreshing! Come check out this authentic Nicaraguan restaurant with incredible menu!

Google
Interesting new Lunch spot. They cooked a medium steak medium... which I wanted. The fried pork with boiled cassava was good to. This restaurant is new , but was fairly packed for lunch. Will go there more often. I liked the atmosphere and the food was cooked the way I like it. It was also seasoned.

Google
Simply amazing food. I never had Nicaraguan food before so I ordered the “bandeja” sampler. It was amazing steak, chicken, yuca, rice, cheese sticks, and other assortments. Highly recommend!

Google
Stopped by for lunch and was truly impressed by both the food and service. Everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and nicely prepared. The staff was welcoming and attentive, making the experience even better. I will definitely be coming back, highly recommend!

Google
The food was top notch, my churrasco came out perfect. I always love queso frito with my Nicaraguan dishes and they make some of the best ones. Highly recommend this place! Authentic Nicaraguan cuisine and nice family atmosphere and great service. 👍🏼

Yelp
This was my first time trying Nicarguan cuisine. Lots of Central American restaurants to try in Miami. We got the appetizer sampler ~$36 as our main meal. It was more than enough for two people and we still took some of them home. There were a variety of appetizer, almost everything from their menu. The seasoned steak was my favorite among them. Fried plantains were good to munch on. The green sauce was tangy. We also got Tamarind juice for drink and it didn't disappoint.

Yaglin S.

Yelp
We love this place we dine in and take out often. I'm plant-based and make my own meal out of different sides. The yuca is always so soft and delicious. Gallo pinto is outstanding and the slaw is perfectly tart. My kids enjoy the kids chicken tender (not frozen nuggets) comes with gallo pinto, fries, and fried cheese. My husband usually enjoys the churasco or grilled chicken steak with gallo pinto, slaw, and tajadas. The service is always great, constantly checking up on us and filling our waters. The colors inside are so pretty and seating is ample and comfortable.

Yelp
This is the best Nicaraguan restaurant in Miami I have tried all of them and the spotted gallo never fails food is delicious from appetizers to the carne asada this place consistency is very impressive I am not even from Nicaragua and I will vouch for this place 5 stars alll day

Karla E.

Yelp
Cool little spot! They have indoor/outdoor seating, and a bar area! Small, but very cozy, and truly feels like you're at abuela's house eating traditional Nicaraguan food with a modern twist. Service was great! Everyone was really nice and attentive. Food was amazing! I could not stop eating! The queso frito was hot and crispy, literally mouth watering! The gallo bowl with gallo pinto and steak was full of flavor! I get my steak well done, but it was still juicy! I think that if they put crema instead of sour cream, the taste would be even better! The only thing I didn't love was the repollo. It was a little bland and too vinegary for me. And of course, no meal is complete without a Milca! Plenty of parking. Great for families and groups. Limited seating outside.

Genesis L.

Yelp
5 star!!! It was amazing the chicken was so good and crispy And I also had a taste of my friends carne asada and it was delicious

Emily H.

Yelp
Is a nice place to eat food fresh and delicious. I use to go there when I want to feel like in my own house. The attention is perfect and all the plates that we ate are made with love. The chimichurri is the best too... great quality good prices. Parking . Go there you don't regret !!

Jessica T.

Yelp
Must try. 10/10 third time here and I'll be back. service is great, food is amazing and ambience is clean.

Maria Z.

Yelp
Amazing place and will be back. Very small but we were seated right away on a Sunday. Food was delicious and got there with not waiting so long. Service was really good and decent prices. Definitely recommend and can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

David B.

Yelp
Family Nicaraguan restaurant with attentive service, quiet but able to freely talk, and delicious food with nice portions.

Angie T.

Yelp
You feel like you are at home and the food is authentic and delicious. It feels like your auntie or grandma cooked for you!!

Byron J.

Yelp
Let me preface this review by saying I'm very particular when it comes to Nicaraguan food. I am a professional eater, who has eaten for 36 years. I've driven by this place a few times and decided to give it a try. This was easily the best decision I've made in the month of August! The food was bomb. We started with the spotted tostones and then got a variety of entres for the table. Everything was a hit. If you're in the area - stop here you won't regret it! Home style Nica food at its best.

Gaston D.

Yelp
OK, so I came here for the first time. I was originally going to go to another local favorite called Madroño's. But I felt like trying something new. I went with a friend who recommended the place. We sat down ordered and they definitely made my food fresh for me. I was delighted and excited. I ordered the Milanesa de pollo, maduros and gallo pinto. Sooo goooood!! Right out of the oven and on my plate. I highly recommend this place. I don't wanna talk myself waiting a very long time like the other place. I used to go to. This place constantly had people coming in and yet they still had one or two tables open. It was fantastic. I'm definitely coming back with more people.

Armando A.

Yelp
Elevated Nicaraguan food experience, still homey and delicious. Nice tranquil atmosphere.

Michelle R.

Yelp
We love this place! The location is easy to find as it's in a small plaza with lots of parking. The place is small and cozy but offers both indoor and outdoor seating. Suitable for families and small groups. They also have a small bar area. The service is great! They have a very friendly and kind team that is always willing to help you out. The food is delicious! Not everyone can serve you a delicious plate of authentic Nicaraguan food. There hasn't been a dish I've tried that hasn't been delicious. We definitely come here atleast 1-2 times a month. (Sometimes more ) definitely recommend!

Liam T.

Yelp
Went to this place from a friend's recommendation and it was amazing! The appetizers and entrees all so so so delicious! And I'm not one to submit many reviews here. 100% recommend this spot.

Nicole V.

Yelp
Been hearing about The Spotted Gallo for a while and as a Nicaraguan, it was my due diligence to try it out! Let's start with location...very convenient in a small plaza but with sufficient parking (free). They have both outdoor and indoor seating available and were quick to sit me down. For starters we got the spotted tostones which consisted of the tostón (fried plantain) topped with refried beans, carne asada (meat), fried cheese, chimichurri, and cream. SO GOOD. Although it was delicious, I did think this specific appetizer was kinda pricey for what it actually was. For entree did the carne asada which came with two sides + salad. The meat was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Next plate was the Gallo Bowl which had the gallopinto (Nicaraguan style rice and beans mixed) with pieces of meat, fried cheese, and sweet plantains. Decent portion for both. Overall the food and drinks were amazing! The only cons would be service was slow, some items were way too pricey (ex. A plain Nicaraguan drinks averaged to $6... this can cost $3-4 in any other Nicaraguan place), and the rice in the gallo pinto was a bit too mushy.

Marlem I.

Yelp
Been here a few times and the food here is solid. Their steak is tender and grilled perfectly and the gallo pinto is tasty. Everything is well seasoned and consistent. It is a small restaurant but I have not had to wait too long to be seated during any of the visits. Price point is good for the quality and quantity. I have also had their food for take out and it is just as good. Small staff but efficient and courteous.

Christina D.

Yelp
spotted gallo has been a fav place for us to go to for around three years now. the food never seizes to satisfy us and it's always fresh . and the service is always spot on. on top of that, their food portions are great! overall great place to get a delicious taste of nicaragüensen food let me also add, their tres leches has to be one of the best ones out there!!

Mayling S.

Yelp
This by far is the best Nica spot (no pun intended lol ) I've ever had ! And the staff is so friendly & amazing. Thank you for always making it a pleasure when eating there.

Valerie L.

Yelp
Nice restaurant with lots of options to pick from. The spotted tostones were very tasty ! Quick and efficient service.

Anna M.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and it was so yummy! You have to get the tostones appetizer ( chicken or streak) are the options. I got the gallo bowl and I feel like it would've been better with gallo pinto but that was my mistake for going with white rice. Its affordable and the portions are really big. I'm definitely coming back!

Gloria E.

Yelp
Great food and service. Nice sit down Nicaragüense restaurant . Would recommend Gallo Bowl

Chiquitas P.

Yelp
Everything was so delicious. The cacao, Chancho con Yuma, plátano, carne asada, tostones! Mm mmm yummy! I miss eating nicaragüense! My grandma would only cook nicaragüense growing up, we ate are it every single day! Miss it so much

Freya P.

Yelp
Best Nicaraguan food in town. Mom and Pop yet stylishly decorated in Nicaraguan art, not huge but very accommodating, excellent service, generous portions. I have company lunch couple times a month, my staple dish is Carne asada, gallo pinto, tajadas & repollo. Steak is seasoned perfectly and cooked to order, gallo pinto is rice with red beans, fresh not greasy, repollo is like cole slaw without mayo, amazing, tajadas are homemade plantain chips, crispy goodness. The milanesa steak is another favorite, breaded steak topped with homemade tomato sauce and cheese plus all the trimmings of course. They offer different craft beers and wine, enjoy!

Joel G.

Yelp
This place food is great BUTTTT calling this place at 12 when they answer is honestly the worst experience. I have to call them 30 times before they answer. They need to have someone on there phones

Raysa R.

Yelp
Food is very tasty and well prepared. Love their tostones rellenos. Meat is well seasoned, gallo pinto is delicious.

Carol M.

Yelp
Excellent place to get Nicaraguan food. I've been to this restaurant several times and have tried the carne asada, pescado frito, lomo encebollado, and the Gallo pinto bowl. Everything is made to order and always delicious. Highly recommend it.

Alvaro R.

Yelp
This place one of the best Nicaraguan cuisine family business, great menu staff great treat ebryone like family excellent services food is category 10+ Love it

Alyssa A.

Yelp
AMAZING! So so so SO GOOD! The portions are incredibly filling and large. All the food was just *chefs kiss* I'm so happy we have The Potted Gallo a chance. It's so easy to think a place looks good..and then you sit down to eat and it's one thing after another. Cold food, poor service, you just don't like something..small portions big prices lolll..at least in Miami anyway. This is such a common occurrence. If you're looking for some fire food, that will having your rolling out of the restaurant when you're finished, GO HERE!

G C.

Yelp
Nice small clean restaurant. Churrasco was tasty and seevice was attentive. Loved the tostones

Natalie N.

Yelp
Tried this spot out that's been on my list of restaurants to try and let me tell you it did not disappoint! My favorite thing ever were the tostones they were absolutely delicious. They had queso frito, refried beans, and steak. The carne asada was also delicious, everything was amazing including the service. The ambiance was a little hectic because we did go for lunch on Sunday so it was pretty busy. We did have to wait a little bit but we didn't mind. The server was really kind and attentive as well. I can't wait to come back here!

Bea L.

Yelp
I love the food at this place. The restaurant is very clean. The flavors of all their sauces and food are perfect. Always fresh. And I LOVED their buñuelos. Súper yummy! If you like Nicaraguan food, you will love this place.

Claudia J.

Yelp
Great food, ambiance, but definitely the food. Every detail from food to sauces are prepared with dedication and it definitely shows. Owners take pride on what they do. The Churrasco is great, Fajitas with a cream sauce... to die for!!! Sauces for Churrasco, picante and chimichurri, are awesome... can't get enough of it. Hoping that they will be able to make their famous soup soon! Friendly service and great food!

Marjorie P.

Yelp
Always consistently great food. Super authentic flavor and their natural juices are amazing. Clean restaurant. They only serve beer and wine.

Ana M.

Yelp
I've never eaten dinner here but I live nearby and sometimes get their Tres Leches dessert to go. It is homemade and the best I've ever eaten. Recommend highly! The waiters and waitresses are top notch and very friendly.

Maria Gabriela H.

Yelp
I'll stick to a fritanga. I've been here once before and found it extremely expensive. I will say just as good as the fritanga, but pricier. Service sucks so much. Came another time for lunch, ordered a soup and piece of fried cheese, 25 minutes later I was still waiting. Will avoid this place as much as possible.

Alex B.

Yelp
Best fritanga in miami. The carne asada freshly done to your liking. The queso frito is a nice size and the rice is delicious.

Helen C.

Yelp
Decided to try this spot the other night for a quick dinner since it's right by my house, I came here the first week that they opened and I am glad to see that they had a full house at this family owned restaurant. The tostones were my favorite part of the meal, every bite is the perfect bite with beans, steak and big delicious chunks of queso frito. (Highly recommend getting this as an app) I saw them flying from the kitchen to every table!

Jose V.

Yelp
Good service and food at this restaurant. My family and I went because of other good reviews and it met our expectations. I'll be coming back and definitely recommending it to more people because of the nice atmosphere and delicious food.

Lia R.

Yelp
Fast service. Indoor & outdoor seating. Friendly staff. Small menu but delicious & worth the visit. Had the gallo bowl which was a great portion. Carne asada meal was good. Tortilla sold separately. Will be back. Yummmm!

Dory F.

Yelp
Delicious! This was the first time I had food from Nicaragua and I was not disappointed. The attention was also very good. The server was nice and welcoming. I had the carne asada and a passion fruit juice. Both were very good. I recommend this place.

Sem A.

Yelp
The food is good, but their customer service needs work. Been going for years and today had an issue where I ordered four plates amounting to $90 take out. With the meal we get to choose two sides. We asked for double Moro for all the plates. When we get home, to our disappointment there is only one serving of rice. So we call in to let them know that we're missing 4 sides of rice and beans. They proceed to explain to us that when they say double rice it doesn't mean double rice, but instead just a little bit more. I'm like "what?". He tells me that I am welcome to drive back there but that I would need a to bring the entire order so that can gauge if it has "a little bit more" or not. I'm flabbergasted. It's rice and beans. I'm like you're really going to lose a long term customer over rice? If you say double rice, then double rice is expected. It is your responsibility as a restaurant to be clear with your customers. The guy had attitude and didn't seem to care. They lost a long time customer. Over "a little bit of rice"

Maria M.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this restaurant. We visited the restaurant on a Saturday at 1 o'clock and the restaurant was not full to its capacity. Our waitress was not the friendliest person, she didn't greet us or introduce herself, she just stood there looking at us. We order and I was asking questions and she was not familiarized with the menu. We were sitting 30 minutes without anyone giving us an update on our food so I just paid my drink and left. I would had stayed longer but the staff was not friendly and to be honest there are a lot of restaurants out there!! I will not visit this establishment again... on to the next one

Cristian G.

Yelp
Not only was Spotted Gallo my favorite place for Nicaraguan food but it was one of my favorite restaurants period. However, the service now is nothing short than horrific. They have a new waitress that consistently has a bad attitude. I could deal with bad service if the food is that good, but on top of that the food takes forever now. Good luck getting your food within a reasonable time. The last two times I've visited they've taken 43+ minutes with just three orders. I can only imagine if one would arrive with 4+ people. I will say, if you're okay with bad service and waiting at least 40 minutes for your food, then you should still take a stab at it. One thing I can't debate is that they make really good food.

Alex R.

Yelp
The food is the typical Nicaraguan flare. This is a family-owned business with a friendly and courteous staff. We are regulars with our children and grandchildren. The food is AMAZING! It's seasoned and cooked to perfection! Prices are very reasonable. Must visit!

Alex R.

Yelp
Great spot for tradicional Nica plates, but also a lot of more modern dishes prepared with classic Nica foods. I'm a big fan of their steak, a lot of Nica places Make the steak and keep it warm so it is dry by the time it's served. Here it's obvious that the steaks are made to order, obviously very delicious. One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. Great family run spot

Ibedatnica I.

Yelp
Spotted Gallo is on point Their Gallo Bowl is 5 Star The flavor is exactly what it says it is. If you are looking for authentic Nicaraguan food this is your spot.

Kristine B.

Yelp
Food is delicious and portions are a great size. The antojito chayito is a must! Pricing is reasonable for quality and quantity.

Maria A.

Yelp
Been wanting to eat here since I first learn about this restaurant. The place is clean and the seating is not crowded. Plenty of space between tables. Our server was extremely professional and attentive. Forgot her name was blonde young lady. The food was great we started with appetizers, we ordered the vigoron which is a mix of pork rind, cole slaw (Nicaraguan style), and boiled yuca. Delish! We also ordered the fried cheese and sweet plantain for appetizers as well, this fish is my husband's favorite. For main course my husband went with the traditional churrasco, gallo pinto, fried plantains and Nicaraguan cole slaw. And I ordered the lengua (tongue) en salsa, the meat melted in my mouth it was cooked to perfection. For dessert, my husband and I shared the traditional Nicaraguan dessert, the tree leches. Homemade, it was delicious, and hubby ordered an espresso as well. Dinner was a hit! Highly recommend!
