The Newest Restaurants In Chicago

"This South Loop sports bar is the second collaboration between a former Bears player and the chef behind S.K.Y. and Valhalla. Expect game-day classics like wings and pizzas (you can choose between Neapolitan style or a panouzzo) along with eclectic options like poutine, hush puppies, and zeppole." - john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen

I really enjoyed my experience all The Staley! This food was delicious - I had the birria nachos, 10/10! The staff was very friendly, special shoutout to our lovely bartender, Breezy. She makes an amazing drink and gave great recommendations for the menu. She was also the MC for trivia night which was so much fun - definitely not like your regular trivia night. I’ll def be back!

I’ll start by saying this spot has only been open for a few weeks and there is plenty opportunity for improvements. First, the food was hit or miss. Mozzarella sticks are Mac and Cheese were tasty- no complaints there. But the fish and chips felt like a kid sized meal. Definitely not an entree to fill you up. And the side salad was literally a small bowl of bagged iceberg lettuce with carrots. Aside from that there isn’t much of a veggie option. Secondly, our server wasn’t very attentive. He literally walked past our table several times without checking on us and wasn’t very confident about the menu items. Note to management: we would have ordered more wine had he asked. If you want people to spend money, train your servers better to make sure the patrons have a full glass at all times. Lastly, the ambience is very dark for a sports bar. It felt like a dark, cold basement especially in the back area. But the good part is that all of these issues can be addressed and like any new spot, they are going to experience a few growing pains. So hopefully some honest feedback will help turn things around. I would try again in a few months to see if there have been any improvements. There are too many other places to go and when you dine out you want to get your money’s worth - food and experience.

Top tier experience for lunch here today! Maegan was my waitress and she was excellent! Very attentive and offered great recommendations on the menu. I ordered the blood orange daiquiri and crispy chicken sandwich with honey garlic sauce. Everything was superb! Honestly, this might be one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had in Chicago. I didn’t come here with super high expectations since it’s a sports bar but I was really blown away - everything was delicious. All of the staff I interacted with were so friendly and seemed genuinely excited about the new opening. I would rival this as one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in South Loop. I’m happy to have The Staley open in the neighborhood and can’t wait to come back to try other menu items. Five stars!

The Staley is one of my favorite spots to unwind. If you’re thinking of checking this place out, definitely come on a Wednesday for trivia night. Breezy — trivia host, crowd commander, queen of the mic, and certified legend. She turns trivia night into a full-blown event. Her questions are clever, her timing is flawless, and her ability to roast teams just enough is truly an art form. She could host the Oscars and still make it feel like your favorite dive bar. The energy is unmatched, the questions are fun (but still challenging!), and it’s such a great midweek vibe. The food and drinks are great, but it’s the people and atmosphere that really make this place special. 10/10 recommend. Bring your brain, bring your friends, and bring your A-game.

No this is not a resurrection of Krolls and shouldn't be expected to be. This is a space with screens for your teams, food to curb your appetite and just the right lighting and playlist for any occasion. Come out and support! Awesome business model by Israel Idonije to liven up the South Loop. You may find some familiar faces from some of your beloved locations (Delta, 16th Street Bar, etc). GM Eric is hiring and training great staff. Several of them are already absolute gems - shoutout to Bri, Meagan, Izzy, George, Natalia and everyone else. Still making my way through the menu. However, if you're not a dill person be careful it's a bit heavy handed. Decent portions. I'm obsessed with the hush puppies. Would recommend the wings and skillet cookie.

Fun music and sports on TV! Got there just in time for happy hour. The wings and sliders were yummy, but the fries were kinda stale. Good time though.

Man, was it worth the wait for the Staley to open and bring back to life to this restaurant starved South Loop area! The ambience is fun, spacious and exciting with huge plentiful TV screens, a bright, renovated massive bar, abundance of tables comfortably set to enjoy with friends, family, and to meet new friends! There's a huge back dining area in addition to a mini game room like foosball and bowling machine. Now the scrumptious food: we enjoyed delicious hush puppies with a tasty side sauce, mozzarella sticks, perfectly tossed Caesar salad, two different pizzas, one vegan, and one with sausage. Fish and chips were perfection. The side of mac & cheese hit the spot. The entree of the mac & cheese was creamy, and the garlic breadcrumbs and chicken on top were the perfect amount. Very, very good. The drinks were perfectly chilled and presented. Leah was our waitress and she and her assistants were beyond attentive, friendly, prompt, professional, and gave great suggestions and descriptions of the menu items. Kudos to Joshua, our host who is super friendly, attentive and welcoming. And finally, a huge thank you to co-owner & former Bears defenseman Israel Idonije! Thank you, Izzy, truly from my heart, you are an amazing valuable addition to our neighborhood - we are so lucky to have you! Love the Bears centric atmosphere, especially the original Decatur Staley team (pre-Bears) wall poster. I also love going to your other restaurant, the Signature often with a different menu & upscale vibe. Will be visiting both your venues regularly.

Went on a Friday early evening. Sat at the bar and was immediately warmly greeted by a great bartender Bri, who made our experience memorable! She made great recommendations for food and drinks. I was curious about the name of the place and she excitedly shared the story behind it with us. The hamburgers we ordered were delicious as were the fries. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
The upscale bar food was delicious and the signature cocktail (Old-fashioned) was fantastic! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The servers are attentive and friendly. The owner, a former Chicago Bear, is super friendly! Highly recommended!

Yelp
We've been waiting for someone to re-open this space since Kroll's closed during the pandemic. We saw a review for the Staley and were thrilled. We planned to meet some friends for Happy Hour (which Yelp! Said was open) and we got there and it was locked up tight! Can someone let us know when this place is actually open?

Yelp
I attended the opening today with a group of friends. We were greeted by former Chicago Bear, Israel Idonije, who is also one of the partners of the establishment. The food was delicious, and the wings were a hit! The service was excellent. We look forward to making this one of our spots, whether before or after a game or just for happy hour with friends. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
This is a slightly petty review and I will be back to update on a regular day....They held an event on the pre opening day but logistically did not think it through. I had a 4pm arrival time and it seemed like everyone who had earlier times was still here. There were no open seats... people were parked and food tables were empty. The arrival time for all reservations should have just been 'from 12'

Yelp
Ahh! This used to be Kroll's, remember that! This is from the people that's behind Signature which is a half mile away. I had the Chips and Dip. The staff and service are excellent.
