Chicago’s Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings, Fall 2024 | Eater Chicago

"A former pro athlete and his chef collaborator are opening a sports-focused second concept in the South Loop, taking over a longtime neighborhood spot and naming the project after an early football-industry figure. The menu will center on approachable gameday fare—wings, chips and dips, sandwiches, and pizza—and the space will be open for Chicago Bear gamedays beginning Sunday, September 8, with a full launch planned for October." - Ashok Selvam

I really enjoyed my experience all The Staley! This food was delicious - I had the birria nachos, 10/10! The staff was very friendly, special shoutout to our lovely bartender, Breezy. She makes an amazing drink and gave great recommendations for the menu. She was also the MC for trivia night which was so much fun - definitely not like your regular trivia night. I’ll def be back!

Top tier experience for lunch here today! Maegan was my waitress and she was excellent! Very attentive and offered great recommendations on the menu. I ordered the blood orange daiquiri and crispy chicken sandwich with honey garlic sauce. Everything was superb! Honestly, this might be one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had in Chicago. I didn’t come here with super high expectations since it’s a sports bar but I was really blown away - everything was delicious. All of the staff I interacted with were so friendly and seemed genuinely excited about the new opening. I would rival this as one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in South Loop. I’m happy to have The Staley open in the neighborhood and can’t wait to come back to try other menu items. Five stars!

Kelley was amazing amongst her amazing team. They made our experience top notch on a bears home day game. They helped out my mother in law who was in a wheelchair. They were so attentive and helpful. The food is also amazing. This is a neighborhood gem I hope you all visit soon! Ps Maegan, Bri, and Jorge deserve a raise they own that bar!!

Came here to watch the bears opening game and was disappointed. The hostess weren’t very attentive and took long to think of where to seat people, our server got to our table 30mins in, we didn’t receive our food until half time which was about an hour and 30mins since we sat down, everything other than the chorizo chili fries from the appetizer was 86d (or out of stock) including buffalo sauce lol which is odd. I think for solider field events they should be properly staffed. I understand it can be busy but it was not nearly as busy as bears game days used to be at the previous restaurant.

I’ll start by saying this spot has only been open for a few weeks and there is plenty opportunity for improvements. First, the food was hit or miss. Mozzarella sticks are Mac and Cheese were tasty- no complaints there. But the fish and chips felt like a kid sized meal. Definitely not an entree to fill you up. And the side salad was literally a small bowl of bagged iceberg lettuce with carrots. Aside from that there isn’t much of a veggie option. Secondly, our server wasn’t very attentive. He literally walked past our table several times without checking on us and wasn’t very confident about the menu items. Note to management: we would have ordered more wine had he asked. If you want people to spend money, train your servers better to make sure the patrons have a full glass at all times. Lastly, the ambience is very dark for a sports bar. It felt like a dark, cold basement especially in the back area. But the good part is that all of these issues can be addressed and like any new spot, they are going to experience a few growing pains. So hopefully some honest feedback will help turn things around. I would try again in a few months to see if there have been any improvements. There are too many other places to go and when you dine out you want to get your money’s worth - food and experience.

Google
Cool vibe and friendly staff. Food was good and served hot and fast. They may have the largest mozzarella sticks (more like cheese stumps) I’ve ever seen. Honey/pepperoni pizza was awesome. I’m sure it gets pretty crazy here for Bears games. 🐻

Google
Food was mid, very surprising considering Stephen Gillanders is involved with the menu - his other restaurants are stellar. Service was good but we went during Halloween and the music was way too loud - honestly deafening. Our group went to an edm show immediately after and that was considerably quieter. They only played the basketball games in the back room even though it's a sports bar. The bulls were playing - most locals can't actually watch the bulls at home without paying hundreds of dollars per year and we thought this would be a cool spot to watch. Probably will never come back even though it has some potential. Many better options in south loop.

Yelp
The upscale bar food was delicious and the signature cocktail (Old-fashioned) was fantastic! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The servers are attentive and friendly. The owner, a former Chicago Bear, is super friendly! Highly recommended!

Yelp
We've been waiting for someone to re-open this space since Kroll's closed during the pandemic. We saw a review for the Staley and were thrilled. We planned to meet some friends for Happy Hour (which Yelp! Said was open) and we got there and it was locked up tight! Can someone let us know when this place is actually open?

Yelp
I attended the opening today with a group of friends. We were greeted by former Chicago Bear, Israel Idonije, who is also one of the partners of the establishment. The food was delicious, and the wings were a hit! The service was excellent. We look forward to making this one of our spots, whether before or after a game or just for happy hour with friends. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
This is a slightly petty review and I will be back to update on a regular day....They held an event on the pre opening day but logistically did not think it through. I had a 4pm arrival time and it seemed like everyone who had earlier times was still here. There were no open seats... people were parked and food tables were empty. The arrival time for all reservations should have just been 'from 12'

Yelp
Ahh! This used to be Kroll's, remember that! This is from the people that's behind Signature which is a half mile away. I had the Chips and Dip. The staff and service are excellent.
