The Star Cafe

Located on the second floor of the Texas history museum. Good, simple Cafe type food for a reasonable price. My loaded baked potato was $5.00, fresh and delicious. Although, there are bad reviews from several years ago, the place appears to have been recently redone and must be under new management.

It is what it is: a museum cafeteria. I haven't been to a cafeteria that serves Gourmet meals yet. I had the Shepard Pie (which is only served on weekends).

If I could put 0 star I would have. My son, daughter and myself came here to visit. When we went to order we were told to look for a salad. One not so fresh one was in the cabinet. We were told that’s all they had. Two ladies just stood behind the register refused to make any. Not friendly at all. Will never go here again. Thanks…no thanks. Came to visit on 3-18-24.

Surprisingly amazing for a museum cafe. Lots of options and wow, the prices are amazing compared to what else you'd find in downtown Austin. Great little hidden gem.

Coffee was good but expensive 8+ dollars

Everything was fine except for the traditional macchiato coffee, it’s in a small cup and they only fill it a 1/4 of the cup for 4.75 plus tax. What rip off.

This place is a little hidden gem and I never pass by without getting a breakfast taco hot off the grill. Food is great and always friendly staff.

Food was alright. Kids meals were, as always, overpriced and not enough. My husband and I got the special of the day, a taco salad with ground beef. It was good, reasonably priced, and it came with a drink. I don't recommend eating here, simply because Austin has so so many great places to eat on the cheap. If you want to take your kids to eat after exploring the museum, save a few bucks and go to a P Terry's.
