I love trying new coffee places, and The Station is super adorable. It's located next to Sunshine Market in an old gas station building and serves up tasty espresso beverages, tea, and freshly baked treats and snacks. We went for a late afternoon cappuccino and couldn't resist the delicious looking pastries that were calling our name from the glass pastry case.
We ordered two cappuccinos ($4.25 each), a croissant ($3) and an OG donut ($3). Our order was ready quickly, and we found an empty bench out back in the outdoor dining area. Note that there aren't any tables, so you'll be balancing your hot coffee on your lap or on the seat. Also, there is very limited shade so it's not the best set-up if you're sun sensitive. In the back area, they also have a large sink so you can wash up before or after, which was so nice because I had sticky hands after digging into my donut!
Our coffees were served piping hot, and the portion size was very large. The price is a bit steep, but the cappuccinos were really big. I didn't even finish my entire coffee because there was a little too much. The beans were high quality and had a nice, medium roast, and the milk used in my beverage tasted very fresh. It had way too much milk for my liking, so I may request half the dairy next time. It was more like a latte than a cappuccino, as there was very little foam on my drink.
The treats were so good! My donut was weird -- like a cake donut, very dense and moist, with a light sugary glaze. I expected more of an airy yeast donut, but it's not. Very different, and very delicious. The croissant was absolute perfect, with a nice, browned crust and a shining example of flaky, buttery deliciousness.
Inside, they sell some local artisan products like Sonoma syrups, granola, coffee beans, and t-shirts. Fresh juices seemed to be a big seller too.
Service was prompt and friendly enough, and I thought the price paid (a little under $20 including tax and tip) was more than fair, especially for the area. This is a great spot if you're visiting Napa wine country and need a nice break from the big reds. I'll definitely add The Station to my rotation!
