"Streamliner is the secret cocktail bar hiding off the main floor of the massive Imperial Western Beer Co., and it’s one of the best places in town for an affordable cocktail. It’s not often you’ll find this many cocktails below $10 outside of Happy Hour, let alone ones this good. The $9 Old Fashioned is appropriate amounts of sweet and bitter, and the strong, sour $10 Moscow Mule is all you’ll want when it’s 90 degrees outside. It’s dark and quiet inside, but if you want something a bit more lively, you can bring your drinks out to the main brewery hall." - brant cox, brett keating

Nestled in a beautifully preserved 1938 train station just three blocks from Orange Plaza, the Streamliner offers a delightful dining experience. The restaurant itself is a visual treat, adorned with a charming train motif and graced by stunning historic pendant lights that cast a warm, inviting glow. Classic diner-style booths and tables complete the nostalgic ambiance. The menu boasts a tempting array of breakfast favorites, from classic egg combos to fluffy pancakes and decadent omelettes. Making a decision was a true challenge! Our friendly server was incredibly helpful, guiding us through the enticing options. I opted for the classic eggs and bacon, along with the highly recommended biscuits and gravy, and a pot of coffee. While we awaited our order, our server promptly delivered coffee and tea. The coffee was rich and flavorful, setting the perfect tone for our breakfast. Soon, our food arrived, generously portioned and beautifully presented. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the biscuits and gravy were an absolute standout - a must-try for any visitor. The overall atmosphere was ideal for a leisurely and relaxing breakfast, savoring each bite and enjoying the charming surroundings. While the check-out process was a bit more relaxed, it provided an opportunity to linger, enjoy another cup of coffee, and simply soak in the unique ambiance. Overall: The Streamliner is a true gem, offering a delicious breakfast experience in a captivating setting. The blend of historic charm, friendly service, and delectable food makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in Orange. Highlights: * Historic train station setting * Charming train motif and beautiful lighting * Delicious breakfast options, especially the biscuits and gravy * Friendly and helpful service Minor Note: * Check-out process could be slightly more streamlined. Google
Very clean restaurant, excellent service. This used to be the old Ruby’s restaurant. While Ruby’s lowered their quality, Streamliner stepped it up. We have eaten here many times. The hand breaded chicken sandwich, Chinese chicken salad, carnitas omelette, corned beef, eggs Benedict are all worth trying. The burgers are good and the fries are piping hot and well seasoned. Happy hour is good too! The only thing I can’t recommend is the blueberry pancakes. The regular ones are great but the use frozen blueberries and don’t drain them leading to a soggy pancake.

The food was great, generous serving. My servers were exceptional, they made me feel very comfortable and no issue staying long after my meal on my laptop while waiting for my train.

Google
Great place for an delicious dinner and is a good value. This is the old Ruby's restaurant. This restaurant didn't do much to change the decor after taking it over from Ruby's, so it has a sort of a coffee shop feel which is fine. Food was delicious and service was excellent! They have a full bar, and live entertainment later in eve. We will be back!

We are in the area and we came here on Friday night. They had a band playing. I had the ribeye steak dinner. I had mushrooms and onions on the bottom of the steak. The steak was made perfectly. We had clam chowder soup with a basket of tater tot’s. The soup was really thick and delicious. We really enjoyed this restaurant. It’s like a train station on the inside you can take the Metrolink as it stops right outside very convenient, I recommend this place.

Yelp
My dad was the one the chose this place, didn't think much of it until I arrived at the location and saw it was a former train depot which was really cool! Upon walking in I was amazing with the woodwork and also the little train that goes around above your heads! The food was delicious and fairly priced. This is now our go-to restaurant for our hangouts. The service was good and our waitress made sure we were satisfied with our food and always checked in with us!

Yelp
I recently visited the Streamliner Lounge and tried their hobo chili, which paired nicely with a refreshing red ale. The combination was perfect for a cozy night out. The loaded taters were absolutely addictive--you can't just have one! On the other hand, my wife's southwest chicken salad was just okay; it didn't particularly stand out. Service was adequate. Not busy but it felt like we may have been forgotten for a bit. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I'd definitely return for the chili and taters.

Yelp
About a dozen of us came for brunch on a Saturday after visiting the Hilbert Museum across the street. I was pleased to see "Fluffy Hot Beignets" listed as a side choice for the Garden Omelette that I requested with egg whites. Such a treat to enjoy beignets with syrup, the omelette and the House Potatoes. Strawberry Lemonade was my beverage. My tablemates ordered burgers and the Seafood Combo. Those looked good. The menu lists a nice selection of Fresh Salads and Sandwiches. We arrived when the lounge opened and were seated immediately. The food arrived after a decent interval based on the size of our party. There is ample parking in the surface lot.

Yelp
They do live music on Saturdays at 7:30 so plan accordingly. The band was very good and I would absolutely go another Saturday to enjoy the band but we didn't know about it and came to celebrate a family birthday so once the music started the conversation stopped (just something to keep in mind when planning). The food was good, all very typical American diner fare. The location is great- we got to watch a bunch of trains go by which was great for the kids. One of the rooms has a little train that runs along the ceiling which was very cute. The service was okay - our waitress was great and very nice but stretched very thin. It was just her and one other girl and there was a private party in a back room so our waitress had to handle all the tables in the dining area herself. The milkshakes were killer - I 1000% recommend. All in all I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
Greg, the bartender has such a great disposition. He's a positive person who love oks to engage with his customers. He knows our drink and knows how to make them the way we like. Streamliner as a restaurant lounge is like an old school diner. Nothing fancy, but serves its purpose when it comes to strong drinks and something like wings or sliders to snack on. The food isn't spectacular, but it's a good value for what you get. Catch them during happy hour for even better value. Some of the appetizers are about $5 off the normal price. What to order? The Cobb salad was plentiful and hit the salty, crunchy and refreshing spots. The char-grilled ribeye isn't the best steak but for $20 bucks it's better than most diner's steaks. Enjoy good value, strong drinks and Greg the bartender.

Yelp
Don't let my 3-star rating mislead you--Streamliner Lounge isn't bad. However, nothing really wowed me, and I wouldn't choose to come here on my own. My colleagues and I arrived around 6 PM on a Friday. There were about 20 of us, and we were seated within 10 minutes, which was impressive for a large group. We ordered all the appetizers, and I managed to try all but one. Although I didn't catch our server's name, she was sweet and clearly did her best to accommodate us, along with her other tables. Spicy Fried Cauliflower: 4/5 Probably my favorite of the bunch. Light, airy, and flavorful, with a surprising crispness that held up even after sitting out. Mini Street Tacos (pork): 2.5/5 Pretty dry. The flavor wasn't really there, but they were passable. Slider Duo: 2.5/5 These were your typical sliders--nothing to write home about. The fries, however, were pretty good and had a great crisp. Sriracha BBQ Wings: 4/5 Good flavor! They were almost too salty for me, but I still enjoyed them. Buffalo Wings: 4/5 A classic buffalo wing. They might not be the best you've ever had, but they'll satisfy your craving. Overall, if you're looking for a "traditional" American dining experience, Streamliner Lounge could be a good choice. My preference leans more towards ethnic foods, which might explain why I wasn't overly impressed. But if traditional American fare is your thing, you'll likely enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere, live music, and (decent) food.

Yelp
Cool place as long as you can find it and find parking. It has a neat setting including a bar for a sip of your favorite beverage. Give it a try.

Layla C.

Yelp
The location is absolutely beautiful. Right by the train station, they really do have a prime spot for a really great diner. Unfortunately, the smell as soon as you walk in is pretty bad, but even worse in the bathroom. The people working there are nice and courteous, but the food is average to below average at best. It's really such a shame because the menu selection is good but poorly executed.

Darleen P.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this little dinner last week. We finally got a chance to come back and try it out. We were not disappointed. The service was fast, and the food was beyond good! The deco is really nice. We will be coming back ! There are so many things on the menu that look good!

Hunter B.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of Elena as my server, and the food and service was amazing! The ambiance was inviting, the food and drinks came out quick and were delicious, but our server really made our night special. She helped us celebrate an engagement, and was very personable with us. She's a gem! Definitely looking forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
Lovely art deco architecture Food & service is always Terrific. Love the diner at the train station feel. Music is always great.

Chris P.

Yelp
The food here was just ok. My dinner salad was all cheap iceberg lettuce with lots of sour core in it and my hamburger i asked for well done and it was very fare but still edible. Our Hot Fudge sundae was horrible because the ice cream was like water. Service was ok considering we were the only ones there eating.

Yelp
Yesterday, six friends and I came to Orange to tour the Hilbert Museum. Afterwards, after looking at the menu, we decided on lunch here. The restaurant is like stepping back in time--it has been beautifully preserved! Everything we ordered was over the top delicious. Victor, our server and bartender, was very pleasant and attentive. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
This is a lovely place, adjacent to the railroad tracks. There were two of us who went for breakfast. The pricing seemed decent enough , especially considering the effects of Bidenomics in California. I had the French Toast, which came with two eggs and breakfast meat. I chose the non-cinnamon version which was great. The toast, eggs (over medium) and bacon (thick and just starting to get crisp) were all perfect. My friend had the breakfast burrito and he did not leave anything on the plate, so he must have enjoyed it, although he is a fellow of few words. The decor was perfect for a diner at a train station, genuinely reminiscent of Union Station. Joe, who might have been the manager, was very pleasant. The next time I need to be near the city of Orange, I will head straight to Streamliner for a meal.

Yelp
It's been several years since I dropped in at this site. It used to be Ruby's. I like this particular location for several reasons. 1-It's the train Depot and you see interesting people. 2-You get to see the train go by 3-There is a grassy area shaded by old trees There is no change in flooring or decorations. Its classic train depot: built to last. Booths on the circumference. Tables in the middle. It's clean and comfortable. The menu is basic. hamburgers, hotdogs, salads. Nothing spectacular. Booze is available as there is an adjoining bar. I ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries. And iced tea. They only have one type of iced tea, which is exactly what I wanted : unsweetened and unflavored. Perfect for a hot summer day. Served with a decent wedge of lemon and lots of ice. What knocked my socks off is the Reuben sandwich. The sauerkraut, the Russian dressing and the corn beef are all made on site. The meat was slow roasted until tender as can be. The sauerkraut was fresh as fresh can be. Still had shades of green. So good. As an FYI, I'm not so crazy about sauerkraut and usually scrape most of it off. Joshua freezes and I cannot overstate how fabulous these components were. I won't wait so long before returning.

Yelp
I was craving a milk shake so we decided to go to a diner. You helpers said this place was good so I went and it was not! I should have guessed from the fact that it was completely empty at lunchtime and the fact that the host asked us what we wanted to drink before we even saw the menu that I was going to hate it here. Their ice cream machine was down so no milk shakes. When we decided to leave since nothing on the menu looked appetizing, the host gave us a bit of an attitude which made me feel sorry for him. Perhaps he's in a bad mood because he had this huge restaurant and no customers at lunchtime. Perhaps he could use all that extra free time to get the ice cream machine fixed. The one good thing I could say about this place is the vintage vibe of it. Pretty cool that it's an old train station.

Jason C.

Yelp
Wasnt sure to expect when we first got there, but saw that they had great reviews, so had to give it a try. Their sandwiches were great. Crunchy but soft bread, as contradictory as that sounds. 10/10 ill be going there again.

Joseph L.

Yelp
Solid diner in Old Town Orange. Streamliner is located in an old train station, with a quaint atmosphere. They have a fairly small menu for a diner type restaurant but the food is of pretty good quality, particularly for breakfast - nothing fancy, but good solid food. Service is friendly, but they seem a bit understaffed at times.

Sandy B.

Yelp
This is a nice lounge that has an array of drinks, food, happy hour specials and even live entertainment. Depending on how full it is it can get noisy. Located at the Orange Train Station. Limited parking. Nice veteran memorial park next to it. Food was tasty and service was excellent!

Jazmyn P.

Yelp
Service was terrible. Took about 10 minutes just to ask if I wanted a menu. Once i had told waiter my order, the food came. The food was very oily, and had no flavor. Not once while I was eating did the waiter come see if I needed anything or if I was ready for the bill.

Emily D.

Yelp
The food is great and there is only one person serving each HALF of the restaurant so respect. The vibes are great. -Review written by 9 year old boy

Cynthia M.

Yelp
The proprietors put on a private buffet dinner for my niece's graduation celebration. Al and his cooks and wait staff provided a beautiful buffet and set up extra tables outside for our large party. This is a beautiful old cafe with a western theme with a restaurant on one side and a cozy bar on the other side (you can also order food on the bar side.) The wait staff were friendly and efficient and would bring out more food as the buffet emptied. The restaurant was very clean and parking was plentiful Highly recommended..

Rachelle K.

Yelp
Great food, fun ambience and super cool staff. Victor is the best always our favorite server/bartender. Try the peanut butter shake YUM!

Jessica M.

Yelp
We had breakfast here a few weeks ago for the first time. This was previously a Ruby's location. The food was great. Everything was fresh and tasty. I felt like the portions were adequate however, my husband felt like it wasn't quite enough. The waiter that helped us was superb and on it. I really love the ambience going on inside! It's a casual environment, with old-time nostalgia. They have a bar area which I would love to try one evening. We will be back and hope to have the same experience we did on our first.

Heather B.

Yelp
Victor at the bar pours a mean Bloody Mary, the atmosphere is always very nice. Love the train. All the waiters and waitresses are great.

Dale D.

Yelp
Great place for lunch when visiting the wonderful Hilbert Museum that's just across the street. The ambiance is all about trains and classic lunch cafes -- we loved it! I had the tomato soup and it hit the spot. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Darwish A.

Yelp
Food was amazing for a good price!! It has a lot of space, with a big bar! Service is amazing! Very fast! Good vibe!

Yelp
I first discovered this location from the official Ruby's Instagram account in 2021. It immediately caught my attention and I added this to my to do list of places to visit. In the photos shared on the Ruby's account the train was running, the Ruby's sign was out front, and workers were shown in the traditional Ruby's uniforms. So when I finally had a chance to come check this place out I immediately thought I was in the wrong place. There was no longer any Ruby's signage outside, the train wasn't running, employees were in all black and there wasn't a single milkshake listed on the menu. My husband went back to the host stand to verify that we were in the right place and asked about the milkshakes. They said just ask you server for the flavors. It seems to still be somewhat of a Ruby's as my favorite sandwich, the BLTA, was on the menu but it just felt so odd. Like they don't want to be associated with Ruby's? I'm not really sure what the story is there. We asked our server about the milkshakes and it sounds like there's 10+ options, and they range from 5.99-6.99 depending on if it's considered a speciality or not. However, since they aren't on the menu you wouldn't know the pricing before you get the bill unless you ask. I love the look of this place but without the train running it didn't seem to have the atmosphere or ambiance that I had anticipated. I asked my server when the train runs but she said it hasn't worked in years. 5/5 on the food, but I'd go to a different Ruby's in the future as there was nothing special about this one to me. Though I can see that it was probably a more special place even just a few years ago.

Lee K.

Yelp
First time eating here. Our server was delightful!Enjoyed a few items on the happy hour menu on a Friday. Did I mention Our server was delightful? Ok, first Our tacos although eye pleasing and very tasty needed just a splash of tapatio to send it over the top. Sliders and fries were also delicious however a little type of slaw would send it over the top. Cauliflower bites as good as they were the dipping sauce took a lot of the sunshine away from them my taste buds were yearning for a more exciting dipping sauce to send it over the top. All in all yummy to our tummy.

Kathy S.

Yelp
I participated in a taste test of some Vegan dishes Streamliner's Lounge will be adding to their menu. The Mile High sandwich was very good and the Hummus Press appetizer was quite tasty. Also, the Chorizo Breakfast bowl was surprisingly good!

Mark M.

Yelp
Great diner food! Excellent service and I love the old train depot feel of the building and booths! I had the bacon cheeseburger this time. Last time I had the seafood plate. Great both times.

Gretchen K.

Yelp
I used to come here often when I lived in Old Town Orange and I preferred the Streamliner side when Ruby's was here. (As it was usually quieter from a family perspective.) Dad and I saw that Streamliner took over the whole space and decided to visit for lunch while packing my place up before a move. The decor didn't change too much, but there is the addition of the sport team flags in places, which give it more of a sports bar location. A guy behind the counter on the former Ruby's side encouraged us to sit anywhere we wanted, so we picked a mid-height high top table by the windows on the bar side. Food and drinks were similar to Ruby offerings with a couple of more upscale additions. I'm pretty sure the burgers are bigger than the Ruby ones but the flavors were good. Dad had the chicken sandwich, which he said was delicious. Prices are little higher than when Ruby's split the restaurant, but I think they weren't too crazy expensive. Wait staff were a little sparse that day, but it was a week day going on lunch time, probably not a peak dining period for them. The guy who waited on us was nice and tried to make sure we were all set throughout the experience. In terms of parking, they have their own small lot. If in the off chance it's full, there is a public structure a few blocks up that services all of Old Town Orange. Additionally, you could find a surface lot to park in.

Adriana A.

Yelp
Why is this place too cute! Came for breakfast and it did not disappoint! The Benitez are amazing and so fluffy! Worth a date! Will come here again for the ambiance and food!

Dana-Lyne F.

Yelp
They took an old Santa Fe train depot and converted it to a diner. Lots of seating. I judge diners on their bacon cheeseburgers. This place made fantastic ones. Thick, smokey bacon. Fresh beef. Crispy lettuce. Savory everything. Fries were so-so. Only two guys at the grill, but they hustled. All the staff hustled. There was not much of a wait between ordering and receiving the food. Amtrak and Metrolink trains zoom past the restaurant but they are not intrusive. Excellent all around.

Mary A.

Yelp
The food was good. The staff is nice. Prices are decent and the portions are large. They could use some new furniture.

John O.

Yelp
This restaurant and bar, that was formerly a Ruby's, has settled in nicely as a casual local hangout. The menu is pretty much the same it has been with some items upgraded compared with the Ruby's version. The bar has a number of events like bands and trivia in the evening. The bar is solid with a nice selection of craft beer.

Debbie B.

Yelp
Great selection of Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner items. Breakfast is the best! They have small banquet room that will seat up to 30. Great servers too.

Nikki O.

Yelp
So apparently this place used to be the old Ruby's in Orange. Now it is a little cafe that offers live music and bar typed food. I came here on a Friday night with some friends. Luckily, the band that was playing this night was featuring all the cool music from the 80's. Definitely a blast from the past. You were able to dance because there is a small dance floor in front of band so you can definitely burn off the calories from the food you just ate. Our waitress was pretty good and she brought us our food pretty quick. I ordered a basic cheeseburger, but I was a little full from the previous night at the Roaring 20s Yelp party so didn't get to finish my food. My friend ate a piece and she loved it. It is your typical bar food so nothing special. There are two areas so if you want to sit somewhere much more quiet, you can request the right side of entrance. You will be away from the bar and live music. But come on, what is better than enjoying your beer and some food? They have an outdoor patio that faces the band so on a hot summer night this is the best place to be. You get the faint breeze and can cool off with your cold beer. Definitely recommend!!!

Sara S.

Yelp
Service is always outstanding. It's the perfect spot for a classic breakfast, with fresh real eggs, gluten free options (English muffin was yum!), crispy hashbrowns, and good bacon. They still have the old Ruby's Diner corned beef hash on the menu too! We have never had a bad meal here. The coffee is hot and refilled quickly and there's never a wait for weekday breakfast.

Karen D.

Yelp
Visited this cozy, cute diner on a quiet Tuesday afternoon, after a CHOC tour with members from our LAG (non profit guild). Decor and diner is vintage style in old town Orange. Very clean place. Staff was super attentive and nice. Had a lot of patience with us. Some of us had never been here before and we had trouble making up our minds on what to order. After all that, (our party of four) three of us decided on the same thing lol. Bacon, brie burger with garlic aioli, w/french fries & a side salad. Burger was huge, fries plentiful and all was super tasty and delicious!!! Again, cannot say enough about the fun vibe and the great service we received. All of the guys working there were super nice, atten and friendly.

Lorrie O.

Yelp
Streamliner Lounge continues to be a neighborhood gem with great food and awesome and extremely attentive service, and the place doesn't disappoint! The bartenders are super nice and welcoming. The servers always get the order correct. Other than being at a game in person, there is no better way to watch a game. The crowd is very friendly, and the big screens and 2 other tvs on the wall are placed strategically so there is no bad seat in the house. The food is so tasty and the drinks are superb. Today I decided to try the avocado toast and ordered a cup of my usual vegetable soup, mmm. The avocado toast came with a delicious side salad, nice and fresh. Keep up the good work Streamliner!

Kayla C.

Yelp
Great service, great food and even better staff! Highly recommend! Thank you to the manager Cristen for always being so kind!

Rolando M.

Yelp
I am very sad that Ruby's is gone. We used to come here for breakfast all the time. On a recent trip here we discovered that it closed and became Streamliner Lounge. We had a very poor experience eating here. My overall impression is that the staff is overwhelmed and perhaps it's not managed as good as it could be. Not sure if they have some growing pains with the transition. First we had to wait an incredibly long time to be seated, even though the place was mostly empty. Obviously they didn't have enough staff to handle the demand. Our server mostly ignored us and got orders wrong, which also took a very long time. All our food was bland and not exciting. The menu options were pretty standard and not really anything to write home about. The only thing this place has going for it currently is the location, which if you have kids, is still cool to eat while watching the trains. If it wasn't for the location I would give it two stars.

Tye R.

Yelp
Each time I come here the food is always good. And if you go on the weekend you get to enjoy a band playing. The server that has taken care everytime we have been there has been Elena. She is a very nice person and always make sure we are happy with our meals.

Patty V.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant situated within the old Orange train station. The food was really delicious and served quickly. Definitely would revisit this place.

George G.

Yelp
This place is like one of those old abandoned cruise ships that drifted aimlessly in the sea for years before running aground and resting on whatever random shore it ended up on. The bones in this place are gorgeous, there's no denying that. But that's really all it has going for it. It needs a thorough cleaning and some updated furniture and fixtures. It doesn't have much of an identity. Almost feels like the owner ran out of money. The menu is completely outdated. With the arrival of so many good restaurants in the area, you kind of get the feeling these guys just sort of gave up. Such a shame. With the right concept, the potential here is off the charts.

Adam R.

Yelp
The burger was pretty over cooked and dry. Fish and chips were pretty straight forward and not bad. Tomato soup was good. Location and atmosphere are great.

Megumi T.

Yelp
I've been coming to this location since it was Ruby's Diner!!! I have been bringing my grandson here since he showed an interest in trains!!! Unfortunately the trains that run thru the restaurant was not working today, but it has been so many other times when we came here. There is new owners and new menu. It's different but the food is still delicious and the staff attentive and accommodating! Making the grandkids feel special with the coloring activities placemats and crayons!! I had the steak sandwich with fries and a soda. The grandkids had Cor dog and burger! They love the fries and apple juice! Altogether a very enjoyable experience!!!
