The 16 Best Restaurants & Pubs In The Cotswolds - Cotswolds - The Infatuation

"After enough jugs of Pimm’s, your game of ‘spot the thespian down from London’ will really take off at The Stump. This cool Cirencester spot might look like a country pub, but you’re more likely to spot some mesh ballet flats than muddy wellies. Even the wall-mounted fox looks like it lived a pretty comfortable life. When it comes to food, our favourite thing on the Italian-leaning menu is the rich beef shin ragu and bubbly-crust ‘nduja pizza." - sinead cranna

The Stump - Review - Cirencester - Cotswolds - The Infatuation

"If you love the idea of a country pub but don’t love the reality of cobwebs, you’ll find your people at The Stump near Cirencester. The fire casts a glow on the Cotswolds stone walls and the seats look antique, but you’re more likely to spot some mesh ballet flats than muddy wellies, and the wall-mounted fox head looks like it lived a pretty comfortable life. There are pies flying out of the kitchen, but these are the bubbly crust, ‘nduja pizza kind. Grab a snug booth under the thick wooden beams and work your way through the Italian-leaning menu—the rich beef shin ragu is a standout. After enough jugs of Pimm’s, your game of ‘spot the thespian down from London’ will really take off. photo credit: The Stump photo credit: Sinéad Cranna photo credit: The Stump video credit: Sinéad Cranna photo credit: The Stump Pause Unmute" - Sinéad Cranna

Beautifully presented pub inside and out with ample parking. Driven past many times ans thought we’d try it. I had the courgette and goats cheese pizza and without doubt it was the best pizza I’ve had; such a light base with just the right amount of flavourful topping. It was divine ! I had affogato which again quality of both coffee and ice cream was excellent (Cotswold cream). I was driving so it was nice to see some 0% drinks; I had the very good Pentire and tonic. Service was friendly; we had lovely service from Emily. Can’t wait to return.

We visited the stump for dinner and it was absolutely amazing! Greeted by friendly and helpful staff who gave us there full attention and answered all of the questions we had. The food was delicious and couldn't be faulted from start to finish. The croquettes so crunchy, yet smooth on the inside were a delight. The charged broccoli, delicious! The pork rib just pure and untouched. But the chicken main was out of this world. So juicy and tender and packed with so much fresh flavour. One regret was I wish I would have had space to eat it all over again.

Lovely clean friendly hotel, really good quality food, excellent pizzas. Very nice rooms could benefit from a small chest of drawers. Need to book for restaurant even for staying guests. Good base for touring the Cotswolds

The Stump is a really lovely pub with a welcoming atmosphere and great food. The pizzas are especially good. We stayed for two nights as were at a wedding at Old Gore Barn (I believe the same people do the food there too) . If I could give more than five stars to both venues then I would. Everything is fabulous, all of our party had a wonderful time.

Highly recommend The Stump.|Our first visit tonight and we sat outside. Authentic wood fired pizza, great food fast out of the kitchen, such a joy to eat delicious unprocessed food. Amazing service from our lovely server Charlotte C, so smiley and polite. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Excellent pub, great parking and plenty of tables. Nicely kept pool table too for entertainment. Food is incredible, pizzas are full of flavour and good sizes. All round lovely place to be especially in the autumn with the open fire for warmth.

8 adults Visited here for our niece’s birthday after she loves it here but I had mixed feelings due to the menu and pricing.|The steak looked good as it came out for another customer but after I was told you have to pay for the “chips” and sides separate I went for a pizza. It was really good pizza but I asked for chips on the side and was told they don’t do them but do a potato with Parmesan sprinkled over them with a dip, so I gave them a try and was left underwhelmed as 5 cubes of potato came out with the Parmesan and dip and that was £7 !|Staff were all excellent and though we all had pizza due to the pricy and lack of choice we enjoyed it.
