"If you love the idea of a country pub but don’t love the reality of cobwebs, you’ll find your people at The Stump near Cirencester. The fire casts a glow on the Cotswolds stone walls and the seats look antique, but you’re more likely to spot some mesh ballet flats than muddy wellies, and the wall-mounted fox head looks like it lived a pretty comfortable life. There are pies flying out of the kitchen, but these are the bubbly crust, ‘nduja pizza kind. Grab a snug booth under the thick wooden beams and work your way through the Italian-leaning menu—the rich beef shin ragu is a standout. After enough jugs of Pimm’s, your game of ‘spot the thespian down from London’ will really take off. " - sinead cranna

Went for a meal for a friends birthday, great pizza with lots of options. Staff were friendly and attentive. Pool table was a good addition to continue enjoying ourselves after our meal with a few drinks. Would recommend. Fairly priced.

Stayed for one night in a room with 2 doubles. Was lovely and clean, beds were a little firm but the bedding and pillows were so fluffy and comfy it was really cosy. Our breakfast the next morning was out of this world. It was so relaxing sat in front of a real fire in the breakfast room and the food was delicious. I had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon...the best I've had anywhere! The rest of the family had delicious cooked breakfasts which were such generous portions and really fresh produce and very good quality. Staff were all so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Would love to go back and stay and try their home cooked pizzas next time.

Great character place to eat and drink in atmospheric surroundings. Welcoming staff and a great menu to suit all with good choice of dietary requirements. We went with friends and everyone enjoyed the experience. I had a pizza which was melt in the mouth delicious. Would definitely go again.

Fancy place, lovely seating areas, I imagine the garden would be lovely in the Summer months. My waitress was lovely. Food... delicious! The crispy potatoes were like nothing I've seen before and tasted amazing! Only 4 stars out of 5 because it's quite expensive. Over £70 for a couple of pizzas, garlic bread and 2 sides is quite excessive.

Stayed here 6/1/25 and ate in the pub. Room was lovely, clean and very comfortable. The service and food in the pub was amazing!! Sam’s food recommendations were great! I have previously stayed in the New Inn and loved it there but The Stump is definitely my favourite and I will be back soon 🤩

Stayed here for a 50th birthday reunion with two other couples. Had a delicious meal with great cocktails, excellent wine and the service was exceptional. Our rooms were really clean and beautifully presented. The beds were very comfortable and we would love to return

We recently went to the Stump as we had heard so many good reports about it. We booked in for Sunday Lunch and it really didn't disappoint! It was fantastic! The pizzas looked incredible too! There is a good selection of beers on tap from Guinness to Butty Bach! And there is a great kids menu of pizzas, and is dog friendly! We had a lovely lunch and will definitely be back again soon to try the pizzas!
