"The Sweet Booth owner Calvin Tong never fails to remind every customer that his drinks are always made with fresh ingredients. Within the confines of his small booth, Calvin manages to craft the most refreshing smoothies, juices, and milk teas (with housemade boba, of course). The cult favorite is his avocado smoothie, with fresh taro milk a close second. My current obsession is his delicious Chinese-style bitter almond milk blended with fresh almonds and his homemade grass jelly. But on a hot day, you really can’t beat the freshly chopped watermelon juice. It’s Calvin’s practical care and attention to detail that keep his regulars coming back. When asked why he’s forgone using powders and continues to hand peel and cut fresh fruit to order for the past 28 years, Calvin answers resolutely, “It’s healthy... and more delicious!”" - Daphne Wu

"Chinatown has no shortage of boba spots, but the Sweet Booth has been a mainstay since the ‘90s. The shop is known for using actual fruit (as opposed to powdered mixes), blended to order, in all of its fruit-based smoothies and tea drinks. The delicious “pearl taro” — with a scoop of vanilla ice cream blended in for good measure — is like a meal unto itself. During shelter in place, the shop is open for takeout from noon to 6 p.m. daily." - Luke Tsai

After having Chinese Food we wanted something sweet and we found this little spot in Oakland. They have enough seating for 2 families (literally). But, it's ok because this place is only good for a quick stop cause have ice cream, pearl smoothies, shave iced drinks, home made iced coffee, vita drink and more. They serve their drinks with fresh fruits. Loved the pearl smoothie and ice cream only down fall is there's only 1 person working (very nice man) so when there's a line it may take a bit to get your only :).

I am not kidding when I say that this lychee smoothie (no pearl) is the best I’ve ever had!!! Fresh lychee, no powder or syrups!! 😋

Wonderful drinks and ice cream. Only real fruit!!! Plus the owners are really great, it's the best spot around, I've been coming here since I was a little kid.

I found this boba shop 1 week ago and my boyfriend and I plan on going every weekend this month. You can definitely tell the smoothie is made of fresh fruit and it's very refreshing. We've tried taro, lychee, avocado, and mango. Every drink was delicious. Among the many boba shops in the area, The Sweet Booth stands out for sure. Their last day is on 10/31, so be sure to check them out! Update 10/17/2021 One thing to note is that it is a small shop meaning that there are only 2 people there doing everything that needs to be done to make the drinks. In the past, I have waited up to 30 minutes for my order, but it is small sacrifice for really good boba. If you're concerned about the wait time, go closer to when they first open. I went again today at 2 and waited not even 10 minutes.

Been coming here over 20 years and will keep coming. It's an amazing busy little shop. My go-to is the Mango with Pearl, but the Taro with Pearl is pretty amazing as well. Fresh fruit only, no powders Taro has little chunks and it makes it just right For a pick-me-up, try the Extra Strength Coffee. Wowza

Sweet Booth is housed inside the mini food mall in Oakland, Chinatown and is located on the ground floor. The owner is cheery and very kind. I like the quality of their drinks and their boba are softer than most places, which I really like. If you're in the area, stop by for a sweet drink. They also serve some awesome-looking, fresh fruit smoothies and homemade favorites like taro with bubbles.

Yummy durian smoothie with real durian fruit! I would visit here as a kid and order their avocado smoothie, equally yummy. Try the taro smoothie too! Everything here is delicious, the owners are very friendly, and I without a doubt would visit again.

Real Fruit. No Powder. Nothing Artificial. And the best Boba I've ever had.
