"With globe light fixtures connected like an oversized pearl bracelet, the bamboo-clad room has a whimsical feel. In addition to European classics such as fish and chips, thyme-roasted chicken and beef Wellington, the Taiwanese chef also caters to the local palate by using Western techniques to cook local produce. Try his dried radish chicken soup with squid, and kelp popcorn chicken. It's also a pet-friendly space, so book ahead for your furry friend." - Michelin Inspector

Review: Kimpton Da An, Taipei - SilverKris

"A 12th-floor modern-fusion restaurant led conceptually by James Sharman (formerly of Noma) that draws on Taiwan’s emerging organic producers and local culinary traditions. Menus reinterpret familiar flavors—examples include fried chicken served with a Japanese kelp dip nodding to Taiwanese fried chicken, and a baked Alaska with taro ice cream that references night-market taro desserts—while service and plating aim for a balance of intimacy and communal dining. The dining room’s design enhances that atmosphere: overhead lighting arranged like a pearl necklace and walls intentionally left open at top and bottom to create airy, connected spaces." - Joe Henley

I stayed at the Kimpton Da An Hotel and had breakfast at The Tavernist every morning — it was fantastic! The food was fresh and delicious, and the team was genuinely warm, attentive, and full of positive energy. You can really feel their great teamwork and hospitality. A wonderful way to start the day! Highly recommended.

I came her with my girlfriend and another couple for a nice dinner in Taipei. We ordered the set menu as well as two pork main dishes. The food was fine, but for the price, it is not even close to being worth it. Our bill was $350 USD for four people which by Taipei standards is pretty insane. It's a nice hotel, but I would never recommend anyone to spend their $$$ here.

I spent a night there, during reservation I wasn’t clearly informed that only a fixed set dinner was available, which was a bit disappointing. The food overall was tasteless, with the exception of the sea bass and beef. The waitstaff introduced each dish very quietly, and even with full attention it was very difficult to hear them. Overall, the experience was fair, but given the relatively high price, it didn’t feel like good value for money.

Food was good, drinks were great, the wine was at perfect temperature. The restaurant is cozy, I want to go back to try the terrass when the weather is less hot. Service was friendly

The Food: The Servers, particularly Lyn had recommended us the lunch set and walked us through the choices. She set the expectations and the food blew us away. The ribeye was literally melt in my mouth. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. The dessert was to die for. It was an excellently curated by the chef. The Service: This is what separates a good restaurant from an excellent restaurant. I highly commend Lyn for the excellent service. She was very attentive to our needs and was very funny as well. She takes EXCELLENT photos. She also asked us where we're from and how long we'll be staying in Taiwan. She even gave us recommendations in Taiwan. Her service is unmatched. Big props to Lyn for making our time there very delightful. The atmospehere: The restaurant was situated on the 12th floor. It has good views. But an insider tip that Lyn told us, there's a part on the balcony that has Taipei101 as the backdrop. The lighting of the place really set the mood. It screams a mix of hominess and luxury. Only good interior designers can do that. Big props to the atmosphere as well.

There was a happening at the first visit. But second was nice. This is the first time that I visit same restaurant while travel. Manager Mandarin was kind and hear my feedback carefully. So I decided to visit again at the last dinner of the trip. And it was successful. Unfortunately, I couldn't met the manager at that time. But the two young hall managers were careful and great also. They explained foods and taught how to eat as well. Honestly, I don't like oyster and shellfish something like that. But I tried. And for me, seafood platter was the best plate of the set menu. The scallop was impressive. It cooked just surfaces evenly. So it was easy to cut, and keeps its soft innerside. And the steak was exact Medium-Rare at this time. The last dessert was very interesting. It looks like Taiwanese foods as called 滷肉飯 and 東坡肉. 滷肉飯 is made of tofu icecream and cookies. 東坡肉 is made of jelly(I couldn't get it what is inside), chocolate, and tangerine. This is the most interesting thing. It looked unfamiliar, but it tasted familiar. There is a tangerine chocolate in Jeju-do island which located in Korea. And since I am Korean, I eat the chocolate sometimes. The 東坡肉's taste was so similar to it. House wines are also good pair with dishes. I tried chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, and malbec. And I think sauvignon blanc for seafood, and cabernet for steak are the best pair. The house wine CS is napa wine. And it has its original flavor at the last. I enjoyed it. It was worth to visit again. Thank you Mandarin who encourage me to came back again, and also I want to appreciate to the young hall managers who treat me warmly.

Came for lunch, honestly didn’t know what to expect from a mixed modern Taiwanese and European menu. The quality of the food was excellent and service was incredible. Food and drinks came promptly as well. I had the cauliflower app, filet main, and tiramisu dessert. All were really very good we had a good time.

My companion and I enjoyed a delightful Sunday lunch, savoring a variety of dishes, all of which were exceptionally well-prepared. The burrata salad was a personal favorite; the milky, creamy texture of the burrata was simply irresistible! The grilled shrimp and oysters from the seafood platter were equally impressive, exhibiting exceptional freshness and a complete absence of any fishy taste. The steak, while palatable, was somewhat less remarkable than the other dishes but still tastes good tho. The restaurant's ambiance was relaxed and no some crowded, will go back for the druing weekends.

Yelp
They messed up the reservation, and didn't react in time. The staff training was unsatisfactory. It was a waste of a solid thirty minutes and the process was extremely aggravating with their repetitive answers and reluctance to backtrack details. Instead of checking and retracing with other staffers to solve the customer's problem, the staffs had been slow and unapologetic to a point where you could tell the staff training was poor. The food and service do not worth the price. Do not recommend.
