"In the no-man’s-land between Williamsburg and Bushwick off the Montrose L stop, The Topaz has staked out its turf as the go-to cocktail bar since it opened in 2015. The vibe is decidedly laid-back while still upscale, thanks to the serious bar program and Las Vegas-inspired, white-hued decor courtesy of owner and Nevada native Brandon Davey. The tart, tequila-based Mexican Standoff goes down easy with destination fries, small, torn pieces of russet potato with a spicy aioli. It's fine. Limited drinks limited food, it's a great atmosphere but doesn't offer much more than that. It'd be great if it had more than 2 beers on tap, and the food menu is a little weak...... take it back, the grilled cheese is awesome!!!!

The place is gorgeous. The mirrors are amazing and the ambiance is just so cool. It doesn’t get too crowded so it’s a good place to meet friends and talk and drink together. The drinks are pretty good too and reasonably priced. The staff is very nice.

Great spot. Owners are very thoughtful and professional. They have open mic nights which is so fun to meet new creative people. The bar eats are good too, like the grilled cheese and fries which are as good as the reviews say. I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area. C

Easily some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Great skilled bartenders. An amazing Old Fashioned with great presentation also happens to be a happy hour special. Try 'The Dead Man's Mask'. Just awesome. I really like this place.

Loved the atmosphere of this place, it's located right off of the Montrose stop on the L line. This bar is spacious yet very intimate, definitely a great spot to bring your hot date. I liked the decor and high ceilings. Didn't get a chance to sit at the marble bar but the tables were comfy. The bartenders/servers are friendly, greeted us right when we walked in, great hospitality! The Topaz offers a variety of drinks, the classics and new mixes. Their menu is tapas style, which is a step up from normal bar food. However, there is no correlation between the items. Some may find that weird but I think the diversity is great! The Topaz is definitely worth checking out!

If I were a single gentleman, this would be my go-to first date bar. The vibe in this establishment is what all bars should strive for- Great Drinks, Great Music, Great Service, Great Space Layout. Have been numerous times with friends and have always had a fun night. Also, the food is fantastic with a great Asian flavor. Can even host a private event in the backroom and a nice backyard area for the summer. A distinct bar that is both classy and hip.
