My friend and I planned to go for a Sunday roast around Kings Cross and ended up choosing here because it had the best reviews. No regrets! Even though the service could’ve been a little better (one guy in particular was quite abrupt/rushed/stressed, clearly very busy) the food and the warm cosy pub vibes more than made up for it. I went for the pork belly and my friend and her daughter both had chicken. We shared the apple & pear crumble with custard and ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious!

Had a wonderful roast beef dinner today. It was cooked to our requirement. Great atmosphere & service. Potatoes crispy on outside fluffy inside, beef so tender with delicious homemade gravy. Will definitely go back.

We ate here a couple times. Service was friendly every time. Food is good, portions are rather large. Sunday roast was very tasty, surprisingly, the roast carrots and parsnips were the star of the show.

Was looking for a place to hold a lunch for a reunion for 25 plus guests. Was recommended this place from a friend as they had a good experience here. Communicated with Nick and Crook respectively with how to book and they offered the function room. Food and drink selection was great with a good menu for kids. Upon arrival, the room was prepared with a long table already set up for dining. Extra tables and seating was also set up in case we needed more. Special shout out to Maisy and Hannah who served us throughout. Thank you so much for making this experience enjoyable and getting the food to us promptly with no delay, especially with all our kids running around! Your patience and customer service is impeccable. I would definitely recommend this place and return again with my family. Great decor, great location, great staff and cosy atmosphere.

Midweek meal here. Lovely quiet place (it’s currently Wednesday evening) with a nice vibe and good music at the right volume. But best of all was the steak. 8oz fillet, perfectly cooked and such wide variety of sides and sauces to suit. Highly recommended this place! I’d book in advance as the restaurant looks busy. I booked in there but asked to eat in the bar area instead and the staff were very accommodating. 👍

Went to The Union Tavern (Lloyd Baker Street) in London this evening. I have coeliac disease so can't have gluten. They don't have a dedicated fryer, but were very knowledgeable and talked me through what menu items I could have and what could be adapted. Really tasty!

A classic, elegant, beauty of public house tavern hidden & worth finding. This old corner pub in the hidden borders of Clerkenwell is a Victorian beauty. A large hall bar with central round cornered, square bar sitting central. There's a well identified dining area with open kitchen separated from the rest of the bar by a vintage, decoratively cut glazed partition & carved wood arch. The drinking hall is embraced in decorative etched & pattern painted glazing & original cut glass mirrors in vintage frames. There high low seating & a calm atmosphere of local friends. An excellent selection of beers are served with grand 70esque tunes & a very rare excellent, understated pleasantly helpful, engaged service, under antique cut glass droplet lamps & complementary modern chandeliers hanging from an elegant patterned ceiling. The corner stairs echo to when this was an edge of London tavern, last stop in or out of the city. This cultured, handsome cut glass gem is a haven of calm worth exploring past Exmouth Market.

Last minute booking after having been to the postal museum, to get a Sunday roast. The team there were really helpful, we got a table upstairs perfect for the kids. Really good food, loved the lamb shank and the kids portions were really generous.

We had two meals here and they were both fantastic. My son fell in love with fish and chips here. I had one of the best ribeye steaks I have ever eaten. Be sure to get the blue cheese butter sauce. Amazing service as well.

Landed in London this afternoon with a starving family, jet-lagged and exhausted! How fortunate that this pub was across from our hotel. Excellent service, fare and atmosphere. The other menu items had my mouth watering and I will be back during my stay to try them! Hangar steak was perfectly cooked with a side of green peppercorn sauce and some chips. Fish and chips for my kiddo and a nice aperol spritz to wash down the time difference. Would highly recommend and will be back!

2nd time here... because the first time we came here foods was delish! This time around I came alone bc hubby at work (here for business trip) - anyhow, I get to tried their £16.95 menu (only 5-6.30 pm)... Currently I stay literally across from them (Crowne Plaza) Anyhow... Today I'll be trying : Starters : Buffalo chicken wings with hot sauce and blue cheese dip Main course : slow braised beef short rib with bubble and squeak, tender stem broccoli, garlic & root veg liquor Also I added on the side : garlic mushrooms As for drink, I tried their espresso martinis - it's a bomb! The waitress are polite and nice. I came 20 minutes before dinner starts, only 1 person ahead of me. It feels like I have the place to myself... hahaha... Experience London the first time & had to enjoy it mostly myself since hubby on business trip & I'm tagging along for a free stay Luv the ambiance,... romantic typical London date places (I would say). Great little neighborhood pub that even offers amazing Vegan options. Loved it! Service was great and everyone in our party of six loved their food.

Food was amazing! Servers all were crazy good and attentive! The ambiance of the place was relaxed and chill. Right across from our hotel and was a great place to grab some beers and food! Also did desserts to go for our teenagers who wanted to relax in our room! Would recommend!!!

Was staying across the street at the Crowne Plaza and walked over for the traditional fish and chips pub experience. We were greeted by an amazing waitstaff who was willing to explain everything to us. The service was quick, and the food was amazing. Started off with each person getting a different appetizer, and ended with 3 people getting fish and chips. The setting was quaint, and inviting giving us a real "Pub" experience. Would visit again!

I popped in for a quick steak and a pint. The service was fast, attentive, and friendly. I had a cask ale and the 8 oz filet with new potatoes. The steak was exactly how I requested it (medium) and tasted excellent without any sauce. The potatoes were also tasty. Bread, butter, and water were brought to the table (at least at dinner time). It was relatively busy at 8 pm on a Friday, but I was seated quickly. Bright space with a casual feel.

Unfortunately, this tavern disappointed on many levels. We arrived midday at the hotel and as we waited for the room to be ready, we stopped here for a bite. I ordered the fish and chips and my partner ordered a chicken salad. The fish was fresh but mostly breading and the fish fillet was not skinned, so you also had black fish skin to eat, which is something I'm not accustomed to. The chicken in the salad was undercooked. The service was less than good. I would not recommend. Perhaps the beers are better?

This is a very congenial pub with nice straightforward food. Plenty to drink also. I would recommend and in fact have gone back. Had the hanger steak which was good and fish and chips were also were tasty. Working my way through the beers and ales. Just generally pleasant and well done. They seem to have it down.

Nice food with reasonable prices. The ambience is quite cozy. The bar tender lady is so welcoming and patient.

I just landed in London and this is my second time here. I have had a couple of fish n chips at different locations. I will tell you this location is by far the best. The atmosphere the drinks are more than 5 stars. The service is top notch I would recommend this place 10 out of 10. So bottom line unfortunately I can only give this place 5 stars when I reality it should get 10 stars.

Right across from my hotel was this gem we didn't even know was there , we had been to other places to eat after staying here awhile and stumbled here by chance. Glad we did, we were blown away by how good the food was! We thought this was just a Beer place. There were 4 of us, we had Lamb chops, chicken, all the trimmings, desert and Beers. All was fantastic, the service was excellent and the vibe was very cool, I would say this place is a mix of Pub meets Restaurant. We have to come back in a week and will be back for the Sunday Roast. They earned 5 Stars , good job people

We went just before 6pm and enjoyed happy hour prices on our drinks. The ambience in the place was nice and the staff were attentive and welcoming. I ordered from the fixed price menu available till 6.30 pm and enjoyed both courses. There were a wide variety of options on the menu including a children's and specials menu. Excellent value for very welll cooked food.

We came in for a late lunch (13:00). The service was great. The food was delicious. This is a nice pub, with good food. The windows and doors were open providing a nice view of King's Cross Road. We had the Buffalo chicken wings and potato rosti for our starters. We had the fish and chips for our mains. It was very good, and served piping hot. I would recommend The Union Tavern to anyone looking for a good place to eat.

Great food, great service and great ambiance. Staff was friendly and accommodating and we loved the old feel to it. Food was delicious and we ordered a lot of food to try. Would definitely go back again.

This place was located across from my hotel for a business trip. It's perfectly quaint, served a good gin and tonic and the boar and apple sausages were delicious. Highly recommend!

We were craving a late night dinner and drink and found this place in the neighborhood. We ordered the fish and chips and a beer each. The staff was friendly enough, not overly so but they got the job done. The meal was flavorful and delicious. It hit the spot after a very long day of walking around the city. The bar atmosphere was pretty basic and the food was basic as well. One of the better pub meals we had while we were in town. Overall, pretty good for the price.

I really liked their food. I ordered the fish of the day (whole grilled sole), a salmon appetizer, desert pear and apple crumbs with a wonderful custard and vanilla (addictive but I ate half just so that I can live for another day) and their beer. I wish I had found this place earlier. Very nice, right opposite the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Kings Cross Road. Greats selection of beers! Courteous and quick service.

After a long trip. We went there for lunch because it's next to our hotel. What a pleasant surprise. The food was great, the menu has lots of options. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely go back. Free wifi

We are here twice while in London - the first time because It was right across the street from our hotel. We returned because it was so good! Amazing fish and chips!! Friendly service and comfortable atmosphere!

Beautiful surroundings with great service. Came here with a friend for dinner and the quality and taste of the food left us completely in awe. Of course we couldn't resist getting some tasty deserts and they turned out to be just as amazing and magical as the meal itself. Definitely recommend it for everyone who's up for great food, great atmosphere , great service and all at a reasonable price. Would love to come back again soon

Enjoyed the black pudding scotch egg immensely. Probably the best we had in London. I had the sea bream special, the lady had the rack of lamb. No complaints from either of us. Service was decent, prices are reasonable for the quality of food. A solid choice for a quality dinner at not too steep price.

Fantastic food compliments to the cooks and staff ; right across our hotel went to lunch twice I highly recommend the beet Risotto , garlic mussels , Shepard's Pie, lamb and toffee dessert . -houston /Texas

Ohmygosh. We came here completely by accident. We were on our way to another restaurant, but we were SO hungry that we wandered into Union Tavern, enticed by the very well-priced lunch special (6.90 pounds for a set lunch). The special includes a starter and a main course. For my selections, I had the falafel and some nicely cooked fish with mushy peas. The gentleman had the escargot style grilled mussels and the schnitzel. Everything was quite fabulous (the schnitzel was our favorite!) and service was attentive. The waitress even kindly explained that "lemonade" meant a drink akin to Sprite/Sierra Mist (in the states). Overall, a great find, and if we're in the King's Cross area again, we would visit again.

Ahhh, the Union Tavern. My local eatering hole. The Tav' (not a recognized nickname) is a gastropub of quality. The food is universally tasty - better than pub, but for gastropub there are more "foodie" places to go (not that I'm self-identifying). But the Tav', faced with stiff competition down the street from the likes of the Eagle, competes on price. And like any good market, here's where we find the equilibrium. 6.90 lunch special for starter and main, of average-to-above-average quality? A steal. So my friends, if in the neighbourhood, go!

Good food, good service. I had falafels followed by a warm chicken salad. More friends burgers with the largest fries (or chips)I have ever seen. Music and Ambience was nice except for a bit of kitchen noise. After a few rowdy places the previous Friday and Saturday nights, the relaxed and relatively quiet Sunday evening was welcome. Right next door to our hotel was a nice bonus. Recommended

Very good food for the great value prices, especially if having a lunch time deal. Food feels freshly made and produced in a way that i could pay more for the service is very friendly. The interior is a mix of traditional pub with a modern twist. On leaving one person working there was a bit indifferent to us leaving. but they were concentrating on something else. It is also by a busy and noisy road. Great for the price and a recommendation if you are in the area

We stopped in not knowing anything about this restaurant. It's the BEST pub ever!! From lamb shanks to goat cheese salad to bangers and mash...flavors were excellent and on point!! Very very good. HIGHLY recommended.

Really nice gastro pub between Farringdon and Kings Cross. I think the crowd may be half local and half tourist due to a couple of hotels in the vicinity. Had an excellent Sunday roast here with a very nice bottle of red and it didn't break the bank at all. I'd recommend it if you're in the area.

What a treasure. Beautiful old fashioned pub with a bar at one side and a restaurant in front. I couldn't get in the restaurant bit, but there were some very excited girlies in there so I was glad to be in a quiet bit. I had king scallops with cauliflower mash as a starter, and seabass with Bok Choi and an oyster in tempura batter. Nommy Nommy nom! Prices not cheap, but that, plus Leffe on tap? Well I'm not complaining that's fer sher!

Service was a little on the slow side. We were seated quite promptly, but as the resident filled, our server was much less available. Food was good - very affordable lunch specials. Starters all very shareable.

Using Yelp, we were looking for pub-type places and found that this was across the street from our hotel. On a Friday evening we were seated right away. We were looking for good beer and chose a Wimbledon lager. It was exactly what we wanted. My husband chose the venison and boar dish, I went with fish and chips. Pleased with both. I was surprised to find that I really liked the smashed minty peas served on the plate. Lots of variety in the food and drink menu. The service was quick and attentive. They have daily specials in all courses. We shared a warm apple and pear crumble served with custard and house made vanilla ice cream. Delicious! The portion was generous, so happy we shared.

The Union Tavern is a very pleasant, well turned-out pub on the fringe of clerkenwell. It is friendly and relaxed, with a nice old-style decor (big mirrors, engraved panes etc) with a good choice of wines and beers. It also has an excellent restaurant that is well priced and well done, which explains its popularity with the locals as well as the many people who stay at the local hotels. Upstairs is a big function room that can be hired for a party, and the clientele are friendly. The bar staff go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your drink or meal, and it is never unbearably busy All in all, it is a classy experience that will impress your friends without denting your wallet too heavily...

This was a pub recommended to us by the Clink staff, as it's just a short walk down the street. We tried the Sunday roast (friend got chicken, I got pork belly) with the soup of the day (tomato basil) along with a cider each. The soup was excellent and the amount of food for £13 was impressive, but I left feeling like I ordered the wrong thing. I didn't really care for the pork and the roast potatoes were over-roasted and tasteless. The interior was nice and clean and the staff was attentive and friendly but English Sunday roast just ended up not being my thing.

A nice and friendly pub near Exmouth market serving very decent food. The staff is very friendly and I really liked the atmosphere. They serve Staropramen, Leffe, Doom Bar plus the usual Stella & Co. Good for a bite & drink when you're around - I can really recommend the burger!

Wow what a hidden gem in the heart of the city. I was in town for a buisness meeting and found this place by accident. What a lucky find. Great beer excellent food and a beautiful laid back atmosphere. The landlord Nick is a fitness fanatic and is dedicated to promoting healthy nutritious food. Get a table soon this place is only goin to get more popular. Enjoy it now before the magic disappears. 10 out 10

I've been to the Union Tavern several times for lunch and the food has never disappointed. They do a special 2 course lunch deal which is very good value. I will keep going back, no question about that.

Hat's off to the staff, who are always very friendly and pleasant and obliging. It is lovely to have such a beautiful traditional Victorian pub like this close by and I have brought friends and family here. My main reason for giving 4 stars is that on one occasion I was eating there the staff were really flexible and put together a special dish for me I am vegan. My only critique would be that the range of vegetarian menu options is extremely limited which means I cannot eat as often as I would like because there are usually only two/three dishes on the menu I can eat (falafels for start and vegetarian pasta dish main, and sometimes a good vegetarian soup). So, if they could improve that I would give this pub 5 stars.

What a great find this pub was. We were staying at the Holiday Inn across the road and arrived on the door step of this pub after an exhausting day of sightseeing. It was really busy but they found us a table. Food was really good quality, quite an innovative menu, great service and reasonably priced. I hadn't been to London for about 12 years, the pub food scene in this city has certainly improved and this pub is and example of how British pub food has moved into the 21st century.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn across the street and can't understand why anyone would eat at the Holiday Inn when they could eat at this wonderful restaurant-pub! It had a very pleasant atmosphere. Unusual and delicious food. Your typical nice pub drinks. It is a great memory for us!
