THE UPPER

I came here for my birthday week dining out at different restaurants for the week. I really wanted to like this restaurant, it looks great and the menu sounded delicious. They did a great job with the interior, very French and New York. But as soon as we were sat, we were tended by this unfriendly waitress. She was rushing and seemed very impolite. Throughout the whole service, she just didn’t have patience and wanted to get us out of the place. I wasn’t even finished with my drink and she already took it away without asking. So this was a big minus. The food - for a place that was featured in Michelin guide - was subpar. The chicharron was delicious, the signature spicy friend chicken was bland and spiceless and hard as bricks. The sautéed mushrooms were so bitter and salty. The recommended duck confit was mediocre and potatoes were hard. At this point we wanted to order steak or more food but was just put off by the lack of taste and awful aftertaste… my friend decided to order the creme caramel pudding - he said it was bitter. I really wanted to like this place. But with the bad service, lackluster food and seeing everyone doing the course dinner and their food looked even worse… I think this kitchen needs to have a meeting and taste their own food and presentation. Also need to give attitude adjustment to that waitress but the other staff were friendly and nice.

Located on the 10th (incl. reception) and 9th floors of Marunouchi Terrace near Tokyo and Otemachi stations, the Upper is a great choice for a slightly more fancy but still relaxed meal option. They offer a great 2 or 3-course lunch option with decent choices and good food quality. Ambiance is really nice and they fit larger groups as well as groups with kids and babies. Only complaint is that we showed up early to our reservation and while we were okay to wait, the venue had plenty of tables free and they made us wait 15mins without an explanation only to be seated at a free table close to where we had been waiting that had already been set for us.

In the afternoon in Marunouchi , we came here after seeing it in magazines and being curious about it for a while. While the lunch course is probably the standard, we chose a la crate. The duc confit was so amazing.

Really nice french restaurant with a great service. We took a la carte as the daily menu did not look very interesting. Portions are big, and they taste like France ! Nice cassoulet and quenelle. It is pretty uncommon to find such dishes at this relatively cheap price in Tokyo. I recommend.

You can enjoy very delicious modern French cuisine in a stylish restaurant with a view of the Marunouchi buildings. The atmosphere is very relaxed, making it a great place to go on an anniversary or date.

Booked the top dinner course on the app .. and it was so worth it. The rain couldn’t ruin the night with that gorgeous Marunouchi view and amazing food. Still thinking about this dessert… but totally forgot what it was called.

Real French brasserie among sky scrappers, good house music and decent menu, quality is satisfactory 👌🏻 i wish we could be on the terrace (on a sunny day)
