We visited The Vault, on Hollowell Parkway (formerly Bankhead Highway). For those who know, this spot used to be Bounce back in the 2000s, so there’s definitely some nostalgia walking in.
First off, our server was great—attentive, pleasant, and helpful with recommendations. One of my friends ordered the chicken wing appetizer, and those were a hit: crispy, fresh, and well-cooked. The Cajun honey glaze was really good and balanced nicely.
I ordered the oxtails, which the server recommended. While they were tender, they were very salty. The rice, however, had little to no seasoning, so if you’re someone who mixes your rice with your oxtails, it actually worked out and balanced the salt. If you don’t mix, though, that saltiness may be an issue.
The cabbage had a sweet, slightly vinegary flavor but was missing a salt note, and the collard greens had that same sweet-vinegar profile, which felt a bit odd. Both sides lacked seasoning, which stood out—especially since the oxtails were so heavily salted. A better balance across the plate would have made a big difference.
Overall, the experience itself was nice. Gratuity was included, the check was combined, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Would I rush back for the same dish? Probably not—but I would consider coming back to try something else, based on the service and overall vibe.
