Why You Should Be Eating More Rabbit | Eater

"A sustainable, small-scale meatery in Londonderry where the owner demonstrates whole-animal butchery—breaking down and selling whole rabbits curbside—and encourages home cooks with practical tips for braising, making stocks, rillettes, and other preparations; the shop sources animals from regional small farms and frames rabbit as a climate-friendly, nutrient-dense protein well suited to backyard homesteading." - Betsy Andrews

Google
Best butcher shop around. Their steaks and cured meat are consistently top quality here. I only wish the selection was greater later in the day, which is only a testament to how excellent they are.

Amazing meat. 1.25" pork chops were the best I've ever grilled; tender, moist and juicy. Perfect amount of fat around the edges and the most marbling I've ever seen in any pork anywhere. Disclaimer: chops do look gray in my photo but that is due to them being brined for a while. Hamburger meat was also great. 75% lean I believe. Great for staying juicy and flavorful during the grilling process.

Great selection of meats! They also have cheeses and condiments. They are very friendly and helpful. Prices tend to be high, but the quality is outstanding!

Whole animal butcher shops are a rarity in the United States. A mall town location is even rarer. You can find or order meat products that are simply unavailable in supermarkets.

Google
I love this place. Everything is great. I love the sausage. People who rate this below 5 stars are not right

Google
What a fantastic shop! I purchased both a ribeye steak and chicken breasts for a family BBQ (and my birthday). The steak was amazing and the chicken was tender. I highly recommend stopping in!

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place sooner! Everytime I come here the staff is extremely knowledgeable, clean and offering suggestions as well as great customer service. Whenever I'm in Vermont I drive an hour round trip just make sure I make it here at least once a visit. Keep it going, love you guys!

Google
Extremely helpful in discussing options on cuts and quality of prime rib. I purchased a 10.6 lb bone in prime grade. It was very expensive. I slow cooked it at 225 degrees. There were 9 guys and not one ounce of leftover. General consensus, the best prime rib any of us had ever had. Super helpful and friendly place. I will make the 25 minute drive for this level of quality and service.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure, these guys could probably name the animal your cut of meat came from. I ordered a 2 lb slab of pork belly for Siu Yuk (Cantonese crispy pork belly) for stupid bowl Sunday. It came out amazing. the image on the left did not dry enough (Italian porchetta seasoning), did not crisp well, on the right classic Cantonese with five spice powder & I served it with ginger, scallion sauce - perfect, crisp, melt in your mouth...gone

Yelp
These guys know meat. They have an insane selection of quality cuts that you could probably go your whole life never seeing again. On top of that, these guys are super knowledgeable and give great advice on preparation and anything else you need.

Yelp
I walked into the shop around 3p on a Thursday after riding at Okemo. I was greeted and helped by the store manager and a clean refrigerated display. They have a variety of different cuts of beef and pork, as well as beautiful imported cheeses and other charcuterie essentials. My wife cooked up the Porterhouse when I got back to New Jersey, and it was better than any steak from any butcher we have had in YEARS. Thanks again for your help and see you again soon.

Yelp
Exceptional products ... and great people who know their stuff! If you're looking for quality, this is your place. Great meat selection (including house made sausage), complimented by a small but meaningful selection of cheeses, rubs, spices, olive oil, etc.

Yelp
Over 15 years of getting meats from the supermarket, Whole Foods, etc, this place has the best cuts. My prosciutto was perfectly cut and perfectly wrapped too. Shout out to the butcher Vinny. He was friendly, helpful and fast. If you need some darn good meats, skip the market & go here.

Yelp
I read the various posts about this butcher . So I headed right down . They had a large selection of what seemed to be quality meats. I was going to buy the pork chops that everyone seemed to rave about. But they looked old as if they'd been sitting on a counter top for a few days so instead I purchased the PRIME strip steaks . I couldn't wait to cook them . I am 70 . I've eaten a lot of steaks during my life. These steaks were among the worst I ever had. I felt as if I was chewing an old shoe . I had to embarrass myself and spit out partially chewed meat onto my plate The meat was unchewable . They were cooked medium . Mind you. These were PRIME at almost $20 a pound . I would have been better off at the supermarket buying SELECT steaks . I'm glad everyone else loved the meat , but as for me , I will never go back.

Yelp
Great quality meat. Got a ribeye and it was as good as we could've hoped for. And service was good too

Yelp
The ONLY place I will buy meat for my family now. So comforting knowing everything in the shop is antibiotic and hormone free. The butchers are so helpful and Knowledgeable from recipes, to how to cook the perfect piece. You MUST try their waygu, their new bbq sauce, and their tip sauce is sooooooo good my husband puts them on everything ! Best part is we can have everything shipped to our second house all the way in Florida! Can't say enough about the his place !

Yelp
Local beef and sausages at the bottom of my road, I never thought it possible! After a wonderful 2 week vacation in my home town of Londonderry, we must have made 5 trips to The Vermont Butcher Shop, my goodness what delights: Molasses and Sage Breakfast Sausage - what a sweet breakfast treat Bratwurst - there is a touch of sweetness and so good with their homemade mustard. Ground Beef - 1.5 lbs made 5 burgers, holy crap, what a perfect burger on the grill! Flank Steak (imported from the West) smothered in their homemade BBQ sauce - dinner for 9 adults was quite the meal BBQ Chicken - great the night of and left over in a grilled veggie salad Duck prosciutto - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Please support this great "new" business, the guys inside are super helpful and friendly. I really hope their Bresaola arrives "soon" because I would move back to 05148 in a heartbeat! Cheers!

Yelp
I love this butcher! We have enjoyed their pork chops (cut to order), ribs, ham hocks, various types of bacon, many kinds of dinner sausage, breakfast sausage, rubs, and whole chicken. Everything has been very good. Not the least expensive meat, but you certainly get great meat. The guys that work there have all been very helpful about how to cook different meats. Not intimidating. Very friendly. Awesome butcher. (I do wish they made a real Wisconsin bratwurst like Johnson's in Appleton, WI and a solid veal brat)

Yelp
Been going since they opened. Less now that the Manchester location closed. The reason I have heard that the Manchester one closed was due to rent going up. That may be true. But is it possible business is dwindling due to some of the most terrible sausages I've ever had in my life? The switchbacks used to be amazing. I bought some from Londonderry on Monday and cooked them Monday night. We were left with a smell in the house so bad we had to open the windows. Couldn't stomach them. Last night cooked some hot Italian sausage. Didn't smell as terrible but the casings exploded cooking on low heat... still smelled. But ate them. This morning cooked breakfast sausage and the casings imploded in two minutes on low heat and the smell was terrible. Not really shocking. The quality of products has gone down hill anyway. They started local and have cut costs and brought in crap. There are local pickles and syrup and bbq available but they would rather have a higher profit margin. Oughta change the name to New York butcher shop

Yelp
I was brought here this past week..and my mind was utterly blown. This place is a hidden gem. I must have driven past it a few dozen times before I walked in. The African spice sausage was to die for. I spent the past 12 years as a chef and I can say the quality of this place is hands down the best I have seen in the state. The price is not all that bad either. The place is neat and clean and the staff helpful.

Yelp
Great service and a huge selection of prime meats. Had Colorado lamb, local beef and Moroccan sausages. Very small and the selection goes quick, so get here fast!
