We visited the Vermont hotel with friends for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. The hotel itself was very impressive with a beautiful bar lounge area and equally impressive dining room. All of the staff were very helpful, friendly and immaculately dressed, very professional. The food was delicious, with a good choice of roasts at very reasonable prices. The girls who served us, I believe 2 of the girls were called Sarah, were so friendly and attentive. So a big thank you to them. I was surprised the dining room was so quiet, maybe we ate early? However I would certainly recommend visiting the hotel for a meal or even just for a drink because it is a real gem. And we will certainly visit here again.

We’ve just had the most lovely experience at the Malvern restaurant in the Vermont Hotel. We were served by Sarah who was the most amazing host. The food was outstanding (we had all 3 courses … garlic mushrooms/belly pork for starters, feather beef/lamb for mains and white chocolate and pistachio cheesecake for dessert). Tremendous value for money also. ||But the evening was made memorable by the level of service from Sarah. She is the perfect host, greeting us and being so attentive all evening. I’m not sure you can ask for better! We will certainly be back - no doubt!!

Lovely sumptuous hotel but needs air conditioning in the rooms as they are so hot, laminated A4 sheets of paper telling us not to open the windows. (Yes, there was a cheap fan provided). Long 20 minute wait to check in, if you know you're fully booked why not have more staff working at the empty reception desks??. Malvern is a lovely restaurant but took 20 minutes for drinks to come then 45 minutes for our starters and it wasn't very busy. Don't know why they have the fancy Rolls outside if even the Lead singer from The 1975 had to chase a taxi up! Would stay here again but please sort the hot rooms out.

I stayed at this hotel last year for a night while on my journey in the north and I was really looking forward to my stay here, the staff are friendly to most part just quiet. The reason for my 2 star rating is the train line basically backs onto the hotel and you feel and hear not matter where you are in the hotel. My room looked over towards the castle and I could always hear the train line and the trains braking outside my window as they approached the station. The rooms are a little dated but they are very nice rooms, reminds me of my grandparents place in a good way. If you do stay remember to bring ear plugs with you otherwise you won't sleep very well. I bumped into another guest who asked to move due to the train line, I hope he got a quieter room than mine.

Me and my partner stayed at the Vermont Hotel in Newcastle this past weekend for two nights and had a very disappointing experience. After the first night, we went out during the day, and when we returned, the room had been serviced. soon after this when getting ready to go out for the night I realised my expensive Tom Ford perfume, which had been left in the bathroom with my other toiletries, was gone. Turned the room upside down and emptied both bags to make sure and it was no where to be found. My partner reported the issue to management and initially they said they would look into it, which gave me some reassurance. However, when we returned to reception at check-out in the morning, we were met with a completely different attitude—dismissive, uninterested, and unwilling to take any responsibility. We were told they “trust their staff” and were essentially made to feel like we were lying. They went on to suggest we would likely find the item in our bags when we got home!? It’s clear that the cheap rates at this hotel are reflected in the quality of the customer service. There is no sense of accountability, professionalism, or genuine care for guest experience. Would expect better from a so-called 4-star hotel. Definitely won’t be returning, and would strongly urge others to think twice before booking. You get what you pay for—and in this case, it’s very little in the way of integrity or service.

We had the presidential suite booked thinking it would be in good condition- this was a very wrong assumption to make. From the toilet not flushing to the door know on the inside hanging off, scratches on every part of all furniture, worn down taps to where they looked yellow with mould in the corners where the mirror meets the bathroom bench. Water damage on the table and cracked windowsills. The couches looked so old you can see the discolouration where people have clearly preferred sitting on one side more than the other. Notable mention is the radiator cover looking like it was kicked in also. The £50 damage deposit has clearly not been used to repair any damage to the room whatsoever. As far as service, it felt like the staff couldn't be bothered to answer simple questions, with one receptionist rolling her eyes when she saw us. The only redeeming factor was the friendly restaurant staff in the evening and morning. Inside the room had a booklet with activities to do including 'Above' which is a cocktail bar. It clearly stated inside said book and online it closed at 12am, yet when we arrived at 11:10pm, we were turned away (there were around 8 people still having drinks). From the poor quality of the room to the abysmal customer service, I think it's clear I would not recommend anyone to stay here nor will I be again. I do have many photos of the damage the room had if anyone wants to see what the 'Presidential Suite' actually looks like.

Hotel is in a good location and has parking directly outside. However our room was very tired, cleanliness lacking. In desperate need of an update, bad smell in room. Dusty dark wood, mould on edging of shower screen, years worth of dust behind TV. That being said staff are lovely, food in bar nice but rooms let the place down massively.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel in Newcastle with a trendy rooftop bar (Above). The lobby is traditional and quaint with elegant decor. The room is a great size with a lovely bathroom complete with shower/tub combo, toilet and sink, and floor to ceiling tile. The hotel is lovely and we have enjoyed our stay. The rooftop bar is very trendy and beautiful with great food. Definitely recommend, great location to everything.

Yelp
Great central location and beautiful lounges but unfortunately I cannot give the Vermont more than 3 stars. When my parents visit they always try out a new hotel and in comparison to some it doesn't quite live up to its 4 star rating. I was rather disappointed in advance as I had emailed them asking if I could upgrade my parents room and if we needed to book afternoon tea - no response! So on arrival they were allocated a room on the 10th floor with a 'river view' but don't be fooled by this. The Vermont hotel is very much in the city centre and not on the quayside so you get a distant view of the bridges at best. As for the room it was lovely and clean but the bathroom was very small and definitely not up to standard. There was a yellow crust around the sink where it had not been looked after and poorly covered up patches on the walls (not 4* standard at all). The staff in all fairness did offer to show them to another room but apparently this was no better. The WiFi also didn't work the first day and when it did return the connection wasn't great. We had afternoon tea in the lounge after my personal recommendation and I definitely stand by the fact this is my favourite place for a little indulgence. The lounges in comparison to the rooms are luxurious, welcoming and relaxed. The gentleman's afternoon tea is excellent value for money! You get a whole burger and chips alongside a mini scotch egg and pork pie, cheeses, piccalilli and a selection of desserts. Oh and not forgetting the unlimited tea and half pint - highly recommended! We went out for a meal and drinks in the evening and on our return someone had been into the room and removed one of the chairs so they were only left with one chair between the two of them - no communication to explain the purpose of this and overall very disappointing. Highly recommend the Vermont for a visit to the lounge for food and/or drinks but the hotel rooms don't offer the best value for money unfortunately!

Yelp
Nice hotel, younger crowd ie (younger than me! Your 20's and 30's) Joined the bar in the lounge, music was enjoyable, drink service, and bar tender were slow. When it came to cashing out I actually wondered how they cleared everyone correctly, they didn't ask for a card to keep the tab open and when we asked to put it on the room it never showed on our final bill. Rooms were great, a bit odd to get your coffee in the hallway. I enjoy waking up nude, making coffee, and lounging around. With coffee in the hallway you have to skip the lounging nude and cover up so as to not shock the neighbors.

Yelp
Popped in for coffee ........ wow. An amazing lounge where the staff were very attentive and happy to see you and chat. Really great leather chair next to the fire and piano. Brilliant. Prices were reasonable and quality very good. Loos were pretty disgusting and polar opposite to the rest of the public areas. Disappointed.

Yelp
I was expecting great things when my rude cab driver dropped me at the impressive looking Vermont. Upon entering, I was impressed by the lobby and was extended a warm greeting by the friendly staff. Then my pet hate... I could not check into my room before the rigidly enforced check in time. Not what you want when you have travelled up from London and all you want is a shower and a nap before a hectic night. So... I sat and read until my room was ready. Yawn. Eventually I got into the room and it was state of the art 1976. Clean enough, but it looked tired. I did like the bathroom though - it had a touch of British class that is lacking in most hotels nowadays. Wireless Internet was included in the room, but the signal was weak and connection was slow. The TV was old and obtrusive in the room. However, after a shower and a snooze I went down to the bar for a pre-soundcheck drink with my band-mates and I relaxed into the place somewhat. The service and ambiance were great and I enjoyed being there. After a decent night's sleep I went down for breakfast. Although not included in the room price, I needed my calories, so I dived in. My only aggravation was my internal turmoil over whether to tell Duran's Andy Taylor, who was sitting next to me, how much I loved reading his book!!! I did not bother him - we have some mutual friends, but I left him to his big sunglasses and cornflakes. All-round, I really enjoyed my stay in The Vermont. I just hope that they retain the great vibe and service, but spend a little on bringing the place up to the standard that much cheaper hotels treat as the norm.

Yelp
Looks like a lot has changed since 2008-2009 as it has been an amazing stay here at the Vermont! I was shocked to see the low reviews. Yes the rooms are a bit outdated, but if you stay on the 11th floor suites, it is ok b/c the space you get along with the 2 restrooms, one with a 3 headed shower and a bath, and two tv's, make up for it. Actually what really makes up for is the service you get from the staff. They heard we were having a 6am flight and would miss our complimentary english breakfast, so they insisted we get a breakfast package to go. They also printed a speech I had written up in the wee hours of the night and slipped it under my room door while I was getting my beauty sleep for my event the next day. They allowed us to order off the full menu from the lounge at around 10pm in the evening. They have free wifi throughout the hotel and they are located next to a sweet castle and walkable to many shops, galleries and scenic views in new castle. The grainger market, chinatown, millenium bridge, northumbria university, and baltic center of contemporary arts are all within 10-15 min. walking distances. Everyone here is so friendly and new castle is such an underrated city in the UK. I think the suites are a little above $250, but if you have two people or more staying, I think you'll get your moneys worth. Its bigger than most american hotel rooms and definitely 3-5 times the size any UK hotel I have stayed in. oh and the views from the 11th floor are the absolute best and the sky lounge balcony reminded me of a mini version of the standard hotels in LA with great views and modern decor. oh and check out is at noon so that is fab. double oh they have a 24 hour fitness room and irons on request, hair dryers in the room and its superclean.

Yelp
The Vermont hotel is hiden off the beaten path. The building has a great exterior and a cozy inside. The reception area is decorated with restorationhardwareish furniture and curtains. The front desk employees are decent...nothing special or that stands out. My room was small and outdated. It has potential to be a boutique hotel with just a little sprucing up and replacement of the 1980's box t.v. with a flat screen. The carpet has stains on it and the bathroom is old. Pros: Free internet access, located in a private area of New Castle.

Yelp
Sad rooms, walls need paint, bathroom doors Need varnish and sink drains need cleaning. Would love to eat after 10pm. Items with a 24 designate food is served 24hours ( according to tv) I do not have this menu in my room! Staff is great, lucky for owners, without the staff my booking in April would be cancelled.

Yelp
We stayed here for a night after we got married and I thought it was fantastic. Our room had a view overlooking the Tyne Bridge and at night it was just a sight to behold. The staff were really nice, helpful and so friendly. As we'd just got married they upgraded our restaurant from the hotel restaurant to the one located downstairs. The food was fabulous, silver service too. Peter Beardsley (Newcastle United legend) was sat on the next table! We booked a package which included champange and canapes on arrival, and a very late check out the next day. It was well worth the money. The location of the hotel was super, centrally located, close to the Quay Side.

Yelp
At the moment I am staying at the Vermont hotel rooms are ok, drinks in the bar not cheap and the room service is crap, they changed a tv over while I was out working only to find the new one did not work 6.35pm made a call to reception ( yes we will send someone to fix it ASAP ) so I go out come back at 10.30pm tv still the same and one more thing parking they say room for 90 cars, that's a lie if you want to stay here and pay £10 a day parking and don't watch tv then this is a hotel for you

Yelp
I had awful service here they seemed uninterested in been nice or having any manners I was really shocked at it as well, I really didn't expect such bad service from a place that claims to be all that. I went for xmas dinner with work and the food wasn't very nice and the service was really bad, I seen one of the waiters drop some bread on the floor and they still gave it to somebody, I told the person not to eat it and when the person complained they didn't even get an apology. Awful place do not stay here ever.

Yelp
They think there 4 star but there not , terrible service, staff had awful attitudes, they give me the wrong room key and I was trying to get in somebody else's room, then I had to go back and get correct one I asked why I had that one oh they'd give my room to somebody else with the same surname I asked I hope I don't get there bill I was told def not, the next morning I got they other persons bill which was a lot more than mine, when I queried it, the girl who had served me the day before ran out the back literately and stuck me with a young oriental girl who spoke broken English, no apology was given. The bill I was presented with had another persons full details on which the other person who had got my bill had done off paying less and it had all my details on a blatant DPA breach. Then when I went outside into there private car park my wing mirror had been smashed off. It is a pure dump with awful staff who should be trying to learn some manners.

Yelp
overpriced. definately not a 4 star hotel. the room was basic, it looked like it had been decorated in the 50's and not updated since. upon returning to our room, my girlfriend and I found our keycard no longer worked. poor service.
