By far the best Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea!|Took the hubby for Father’s Day and he absolutely loved it. Food was fantastic and it served his favourite Beavertown Neck Oil IPA so he was a happy camper. |Our host Carolina was brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. The Manager was a star too as there was a promotion and the hubby got himself a lovely glass to take home and funky t-shirt. |I’d say if you’re looking for something for the hubby for a birthday or special day then I’d definitely book the Gentleman’s afternoon tea in the hotel lounge. Best sausage roll I’ve ever tasted. Yummy

Truly amazing, memorable celebration stay with wine & dine package with family and friends over 15 rooms. No-one could believe the great price when booking and once there couldn't believe the attentive staff parking their cars made them feel so special, we had few hours in the Redwood bar chatting to everyone who came either for drinks or those who were staying. The managers encouraged us to move sofas and chairs into how we wanted them so people not left out. They had the lamps on for lovely atmosphere and bar staff were great. We ordered prosecco in ice buckets with plenty glasses to save keep re ordering from bar. After getting room keys around 2pm we took our bags from luggage room dropped them In rooms and returned to Redwood bar til everyone arrived. We all then headed along quayside to check out the small market and fabulous views of our river as we live in this city but everyone loves the quayside. Our evening meal was booked at a time that suited us in the beautiful Maven restaurant in the hotel and again no-one could believe the amazing service we got from being served our starters, I chose onion bhajis but the prawn cocktail went down a storm. A glass of wine was included for everyone and the fabulous main meals were so delicious, we nearly all had the feathered beef dinner. We chose the Quay view rooms as are quieter outside for approx £10each more as being so close to rail station from a lot of rooms you can hear trains ticking along in/out. Rooms lovely, shower lovely, pillows lovely, breakfast lovely again with helpful staff and manager. We all will definitely do stay wine and dine again some already have! |We also love Sunday lunches there and there this Sunday too for Father's Day as the Vermont has it all. !!|Location, ambience, staff, pricing. Reservation staff so good too with email replies and information. THANK YOU VERMONT from Sherin Belshaw and her family and friends.

Held our daughters wedding there on the 8th and can't fault the place. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. The food and service was excellent as was the wedding planner and the evening venue "The Above" on the roof with 360 degree views of Newcastle was incredible. Great disco and bbq. The breakfasts were brilliant with a great choice and again excellent service. Well done The Vermont. We will be back.

Fabulous large room (704) with bath and power shower and a great view overlooking the castle. We were a little put off by the concierge parking at first but the staff were very friendly and informative about the area they put usat ease straight away. We did not have any meals here but look out for special offers in the Maven room of the hotel which looks to have good offers at reasonable prices. The location is great if you come out of the car park for the train station and local pubs, bars and shops just a 5 minute walk away. ( We did the Toon bus tour which was well worth the money as it lasts all day so you have plenty of time to visit the attractions). If you go in the lift to the 1st floor you are only a short walk from the quayside with lots of outdoor seating areas for food and drink. They do take £50 deposit in case you have anything from the minibar or late in the hotel but I guess this is a sign of the times. Overall we were treated very well and had a great stay.

My wife and I stayed here on Wednesday and it was Amazing. A Beautiful Character filled hotel in a Brilliant location. The Sky Bar on the Hotel Roof is a must visit. Breakfast was Fantastic and we had a nice room with a view of the Castle keep which was nice but the best thing about the hotel is without doubt the Staff. Every single member of staff we had contact with were very professional, Friendly and approachable the Quality of the Staff are definitely this hotels crowning glory, well done to all involved 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Google
Lovely stay, and beautiful breakfast with plenty of choice! Only downside is waiting for £50 refundable deposit which is taken at check in to be returned to your account. Vermont say the don't have it and my bank said that it isn't in my account, all a bit strange! Never used any mini bar and the room was left as we found it.

Price and location are good. Room is very spacious, albeit old. The halls and bars are very comfortable and moody, the drinks could be better. The greatest issue was service. Upon check-in, I requested an early breakfast due to flight schedule, the receptionist indicated it would easily be done. On the night before the fight, another receptionist said that next morning her shift and that she could not do anything, I asked her to inform the next shift, to which she agreed. On the day of departure, the receptionist said he didn't know anything and could not ask the kitchen to do anything in less than 1 hour. I had to find food at the airport, hours later.

Yelp
Gorgeous hotel in Newcastle with a trendy rooftop bar (Above). The lobby is traditional and quaint with elegant decor. The room is a great size with a lovely bathroom complete with shower/tub combo, toilet and sink, and floor to ceiling tile. The hotel is lovely and we have enjoyed our stay. The rooftop bar is very trendy and beautiful with great food. Definitely recommend, great location to everything.

Yelp
Great central location and beautiful lounges but unfortunately I cannot give the Vermont more than 3 stars. When my parents visit they always try out a new hotel and in comparison to some it doesn't quite live up to its 4 star rating. I was rather disappointed in advance as I had emailed them asking if I could upgrade my parents room and if we needed to book afternoon tea - no response! So on arrival they were allocated a room on the 10th floor with a 'river view' but don't be fooled by this. The Vermont hotel is very much in the city centre and not on the quayside so you get a distant view of the bridges at best. As for the room it was lovely and clean but the bathroom was very small and definitely not up to standard. There was a yellow crust around the sink where it had not been looked after and poorly covered up patches on the walls (not 4* standard at all). The staff in all fairness did offer to show them to another room but apparently this was no better. The WiFi also didn't work the first day and when it did return the connection wasn't great. We had afternoon tea in the lounge after my personal recommendation and I definitely stand by the fact this is my favourite place for a little indulgence. The lounges in comparison to the rooms are luxurious, welcoming and relaxed. The gentleman's afternoon tea is excellent value for money! You get a whole burger and chips alongside a mini scotch egg and pork pie, cheeses, piccalilli and a selection of desserts. Oh and not forgetting the unlimited tea and half pint - highly recommended! We went out for a meal and drinks in the evening and on our return someone had been into the room and removed one of the chairs so they were only left with one chair between the two of them - no communication to explain the purpose of this and overall very disappointing. Highly recommend the Vermont for a visit to the lounge for food and/or drinks but the hotel rooms don't offer the best value for money unfortunately!

Yelp
Nice hotel, younger crowd ie (younger than me! Your 20's and 30's) Joined the bar in the lounge, music was enjoyable, drink service, and bar tender were slow. When it came to cashing out I actually wondered how they cleared everyone correctly, they didn't ask for a card to keep the tab open and when we asked to put it on the room it never showed on our final bill. Rooms were great, a bit odd to get your coffee in the hallway. I enjoy waking up nude, making coffee, and lounging around. With coffee in the hallway you have to skip the lounging nude and cover up so as to not shock the neighbors.

Yelp
Popped in for coffee ........ wow. An amazing lounge where the staff were very attentive and happy to see you and chat. Really great leather chair next to the fire and piano. Brilliant. Prices were reasonable and quality very good. Loos were pretty disgusting and polar opposite to the rest of the public areas. Disappointed.

Yelp
I was expecting great things when my rude cab driver dropped me at the impressive looking Vermont. Upon entering, I was impressed by the lobby and was extended a warm greeting by the friendly staff. Then my pet hate... I could not check into my room before the rigidly enforced check in time. Not what you want when you have travelled up from London and all you want is a shower and a nap before a hectic night. So... I sat and read until my room was ready. Yawn. Eventually I got into the room and it was state of the art 1976. Clean enough, but it looked tired. I did like the bathroom though - it had a touch of British class that is lacking in most hotels nowadays. Wireless Internet was included in the room, but the signal was weak and connection was slow. The TV was old and obtrusive in the room. However, after a shower and a snooze I went down to the bar for a pre-soundcheck drink with my band-mates and I relaxed into the place somewhat. The service and ambiance were great and I enjoyed being there. After a decent night's sleep I went down for breakfast. Although not included in the room price, I needed my calories, so I dived in. My only aggravation was my internal turmoil over whether to tell Duran's Andy Taylor, who was sitting next to me, how much I loved reading his book!!! I did not bother him - we have some mutual friends, but I left him to his big sunglasses and cornflakes. All-round, I really enjoyed my stay in The Vermont. I just hope that they retain the great vibe and service, but spend a little on bringing the place up to the standard that much cheaper hotels treat as the norm.

Yelp
Looks like a lot has changed since 2008-2009 as it has been an amazing stay here at the Vermont! I was shocked to see the low reviews. Yes the rooms are a bit outdated, but if you stay on the 11th floor suites, it is ok b/c the space you get along with the 2 restrooms, one with a 3 headed shower and a bath, and two tv's, make up for it. Actually what really makes up for is the service you get from the staff. They heard we were having a 6am flight and would miss our complimentary english breakfast, so they insisted we get a breakfast package to go. They also printed a speech I had written up in the wee hours of the night and slipped it under my room door while I was getting my beauty sleep for my event the next day. They allowed us to order off the full menu from the lounge at around 10pm in the evening. They have free wifi throughout the hotel and they are located next to a sweet castle and walkable to many shops, galleries and scenic views in new castle. The grainger market, chinatown, millenium bridge, northumbria university, and baltic center of contemporary arts are all within 10-15 min. walking distances. Everyone here is so friendly and new castle is such an underrated city in the UK. I think the suites are a little above $250, but if you have two people or more staying, I think you'll get your moneys worth. Its bigger than most american hotel rooms and definitely 3-5 times the size any UK hotel I have stayed in. oh and the views from the 11th floor are the absolute best and the sky lounge balcony reminded me of a mini version of the standard hotels in LA with great views and modern decor. oh and check out is at noon so that is fab. double oh they have a 24 hour fitness room and irons on request, hair dryers in the room and its superclean.

Yelp
The Vermont hotel is hiden off the beaten path. The building has a great exterior and a cozy inside. The reception area is decorated with restorationhardwareish furniture and curtains. The front desk employees are decent...nothing special or that stands out. My room was small and outdated. It has potential to be a boutique hotel with just a little sprucing up and replacement of the 1980's box t.v. with a flat screen. The carpet has stains on it and the bathroom is old. Pros: Free internet access, located in a private area of New Castle.

Yelp
Sad rooms, walls need paint, bathroom doors Need varnish and sink drains need cleaning. Would love to eat after 10pm. Items with a 24 designate food is served 24hours ( according to tv) I do not have this menu in my room! Staff is great, lucky for owners, without the staff my booking in April would be cancelled.

Yelp
We stayed here for a night after we got married and I thought it was fantastic. Our room had a view overlooking the Tyne Bridge and at night it was just a sight to behold. The staff were really nice, helpful and so friendly. As we'd just got married they upgraded our restaurant from the hotel restaurant to the one located downstairs. The food was fabulous, silver service too. Peter Beardsley (Newcastle United legend) was sat on the next table! We booked a package which included champange and canapes on arrival, and a very late check out the next day. It was well worth the money. The location of the hotel was super, centrally located, close to the Quay Side.

Yelp
At the moment I am staying at the Vermont hotel rooms are ok, drinks in the bar not cheap and the room service is crap, they changed a tv over while I was out working only to find the new one did not work 6.35pm made a call to reception ( yes we will send someone to fix it ASAP ) so I go out come back at 10.30pm tv still the same and one more thing parking they say room for 90 cars, that's a lie if you want to stay here and pay £10 a day parking and don't watch tv then this is a hotel for you

Yelp
I had awful service here they seemed uninterested in been nice or having any manners I was really shocked at it as well, I really didn't expect such bad service from a place that claims to be all that. I went for xmas dinner with work and the food wasn't very nice and the service was really bad, I seen one of the waiters drop some bread on the floor and they still gave it to somebody, I told the person not to eat it and when the person complained they didn't even get an apology. Awful place do not stay here ever.

Qype User (Turner…)

Yelp
They think there 4 star but there not , terrible service, staff had awful attitudes, they give me the wrong room key and I was trying to get in somebody else's room, then I had to go back and get correct one I asked why I had that one oh they'd give my room to somebody else with the same surname I asked I hope I don't get there bill I was told def not, the next morning I got they other persons bill which was a lot more than mine, when I queried it, the girl who had served me the day before ran out the back literately and stuck me with a young oriental girl who spoke broken English, no apology was given. The bill I was presented with had another persons full details on which the other person who had got my bill had done off paying less and it had all my details on a blatant DPA breach. Then when I went outside into there private car park my wing mirror had been smashed off. It is a pure dump with awful staff who should be trying to learn some manners.

Qype User (r8…)

Yelp
overpriced. definately not a 4 star hotel. the room was basic, it looked like it had been decorated in the 50's and not updated since. upon returning to our room, my girlfriend and I found our keycard no longer worked. poor service.
