Cocktail Lounge Burle’s Bar Opens Upstairs at Plant Shop the Victorian at New City’s Fourth Ward Development on the Beltline - Eater Atlanta

"Plant shop the Victorian officially reopened in its new location at New City’s Fourth Ward development on the Eastside trail. Cary Smith and Libby Hockenberry first opened the Victorian in 2017 selling rare and tropical house plants. The shop has moved several times, with the latest location featuring a cocktail bar upstairs called Burle’s Bar." - Beth McKibben

One of my favorite plant shops! Mark did a fantastic job repotting my cactus. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure I was equipped with information to maintain the life of the plant. I’m thrilled with the outcome. I’ve also had fantastic experiences with David, Alice, and Trang. I own several plants from this shop and will certainly continue to support the shop.

Beautiful plant store. I came in on a Sunday and the bar was closed, which was disappointing, because that's why we chose to visit this location. The associate helping me was new and didn't seem to have received much training about plants. This is no fault of her own, but it would helpful if their staff could share tips on general plant care so beginners can have an idea of how to keep their new plants alive.

Such a beautiful shop, and right off the beltline! They had tons of beautiful plants, some more uncommon or rare ones too. David helped me out and not only potted up my plants, but drilled drainage holes in the pots I purchased! Thanks!

Diverse selection of plants. You can see they were raised with care. The team is incredible, special thanks for Amira and Alice (expert in plant knowledge)! I stayed over 2 hours at the store and they patiently helped me choose the plants and ceramic pots. In the end, I thought it was cheaper by just taking the plants, but after research, it definitely compensated buying the beautiful ceramic pots in house - quality plus you get the service of soil and replace/renew soil as needed. Ceramics are overall pricey everywhere but plants “breathe” better with them so worth the investment.

Hands down the BEST little plant shop around! Until a couple of years ago, I couldn't seem to keep a plant alive for the life of me. But the Victorian has turned me into a green goddess :) The selection is always excellent and every plant that I have purchased from them has been beautiful, lush & has thrived! Even more importantly, the customer service has always been awesome and I think this has really contributed to the longevity of all of my plants that I have purchased from them. I have messaged the store on IG and they have always provided helpful and prompt advice for my little green babies (even during height of the pandemic). I have purchased several plants for myself, but they also have the coolest & unique handmade planters to gift! Even more to my excitement, they have added the most adorable stand alone location in EAV (with Bellwood Coffee). The wonderful vibes, healthy plants and knowledgable staff have made this little gem one of my favorite locally owned boutiques in the city! See pics below for some of my babies (I sometimes can't believe that they are mine, lol). Thank you Victorian for turning me into the plant mama that I have always strived to be 💚

This plant shop is a total vibe. Including and not limited to sharing a space with a killer cocktail bar! The main point of this review is the repotting service. Repotting plants is messy, annoying, and a little scary – particularly orchids. Libby was able to get our lil' keiki in a new home ready to thrive. Service, soil, pot all-in was very reasonable priced. Process was easy, no wait with a scheduled appointment. This was my first time using the service, and I'll be bringing more plants in now that I know it's so easy.

**Update** i did email their customer service email and have not received a reply. I went into the shop looking for a variegated heartleaf philodendron, and I noticed that the pot that had nicer variegation & overall looked healthier than the others was half a pot of philodendron Brasil. After asking the associate if it could be discounted as half the pot was not the variegated philo, I was advised the manager declined to offer any discount and the plant would remain $85! Half of this pot is full of a common, cheap plant & they are ok with still selling it for that expensive price! This is bad customer service & dishonest! People work hard for their money. There was no apology or attempt to remove this plant from the floor, and it will remain there for that price until someone unknowingly buys it. I feel like this is taking advantage of customers for their dollar.
