"Plant shop the Victorian officially reopened in its new location at New City’s Fourth Ward development on the Eastside trail. Cary Smith and Libby Hockenberry first opened the Victorian in 2017 selling rare and tropical house plants. The shop has moved several times, with the latest location featuring a cocktail bar upstairs called Burle’s Bar." - Beth McKibben

Diverse selection of plants. You can see they were raised with care. The team is incredible, special thanks for Amira and Alice (expert in plant knowledge)! I stayed over 2 hours at the store and they patiently helped me choose the plants and ceramic pots. In the end, I thought it was cheaper by just taking the plants, but after research, it definitely compensated buying the beautiful ceramic pots in house - quality plus you get the service of soil and replace/renew soil as needed. Ceramics are overall pricey everywhere but plants “breathe” better with them so worth the investment.

Such a beautiful shop, and right off the beltline! They had tons of beautiful plants, some more uncommon or rare ones too. David helped me out and not only potted up my plants, but drilled drainage holes in the pots I purchased! Thanks!

Beautiful plant store. I came in on a Sunday and the bar was closed, which was disappointing, because that's why we chose to visit this location. The associate helping me was new and didn't seem to have received much training about plants. This is no fault of her own, but it would helpful if their staff could share tips on general plant care so beginners can have an idea of how to keep their new plants alive.

Hands down the BEST little plant shop around! Until a couple of years ago, I couldn't seem to keep a plant alive for the life of me. But the Victorian has turned me into a green goddess :) The selection is always excellent and every plant that I have purchased from them has been beautiful, lush & has thrived! Even more importantly, the customer service has always been awesome and I think this has really contributed to the longevity of all of my plants that I have purchased from them. I have messaged the store on IG and they have always provided helpful and prompt advice for my little green babies (even during height of the pandemic). I have purchased several plants for myself, but they also have the coolest & unique handmade planters to gift! Even more to my excitement, they have added the most adorable stand alone location in EAV (with Bellwood Coffee). The wonderful vibes, healthy plants and knowledgable staff have made this little gem one of my favorite locally owned boutiques in the city! See pics below for some of my babies (I sometimes can't believe that they are mine, lol). Thank you Victorian for turning me into the plant mama that I have always strived to be 💚

Fancier than their other location, but seems like they have less plant options. The focus of this location is definitely their coffee shop. Plants and plant health seem to be an afterthought—so many of the plants in store were dried out and were barely hanging on to life.

I had an incredible checkout experience with Darianne two days in a row. They recognized me coming back the very next day for another plant fix. Gave me wonderful care instructions off the top of their head. Knew the name of the plants I brought to the counter even though I only bought them because they were pretty. So knowledgeable. So kind. Thank you! Affordable plants too! Including a sale section.

This is such a lovely store with an amazing selection of plants and planters and I'll definitely be back!! A few weeks ago I purchased a monstera Thai con and a terracotta pot which one of the associates planted for me in aroid mix. However, they tamped down the soil so much in order to get the plant to stand up, that there was no aeration deeper in the pot and the soil didn't dry out even after weeks of not watering. This led to one of the beautiful new leaves browning!! I've (hopefully) fixed it now by repotting and putting in a stake, but I think this could have been avoided if the associate had used a little more care or known that you shouldn't compress the soil too much.
