Best Views at NYC Restaurants | Eater NY

"Sometimes, gimmicks can be good, and New York City’s only revolving restaurant is a fun one. The Times Square Marriott Marquis restaurant was revamped earlier this year by Union Square Hospitality, resulting in a classy space and breathtaking views of Midtown and solid dishes by chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley. Get the large chocolate cake. Time a visit for sunset because the colors and unreal. Keep in mind it’s tricky to get upstairs: take the escalator to the third floor, check in at the table, and then you’re sent straight to the 48th floor." - Nadia Chaudhury

Very cool concept with a rotating restaurant in Times Square, the views get even better from sunset to nighttime. Live pianist is also a vibe. Prime rib and lobster spaghetti were pretty good and the chocolate cake is truly indulgent. Worth a visit!

I enjoyed the evening at The View a lot. I also enjoyed the food but thought thee u could use a few more choices. We had the oysters, crab cake, swordfish, chicken and cheesecake. All were very good but I think this restaurant is a been there done that kind of place. I do want to note that they are stingy with the bread. They come around and give you 1 slice at a time and felt you had to by chance catch her for more.

We came into town and went to The View directly from the plane. It had all of the classic dishes and the ones we tried were fantastic. The service was ok and the view was amazing. The kids loved that the restaurant was rotating. It was a bit pricey but worth it for a special night out!

My friend mentioned this place recently reopened so we went to check it out. Nice experience when going as it is on a different floor from the hotel. You take an elevator up and it shows a lot of the inside of the hotel which looks cool. Once at the restaurant we were seated right away since we made reservations prior. The service was great and the food was amazing! I loved my experience there. The view was also great since we sat by the window. Nice experience to go to if celebrating any special occasions!

I hadn’t been to The View in decades, so I was pleased to see the upgraded decor and menu courtesy of Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group. All of staff we encountered were attentive and personable—namely, our waitress (Camila), sommelier (Albert) and floor manager (Morgan). The meal was very satisfying. I’ll now keep The View in mind when I’m in town as a destination for a good meal, rather than a tourist attraction that I had written off years ago.

We chose The View Restaurant & Lounge for our evening out — and what an experience it was! 🍷✨ The decision to come here was easy: it’s located on the 48th floor, and the entire restaurant makes a full 360-degree rotation every hour. We were truly excited to witness that! We ordered dinner and a glass of wine — everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is cozy, peaceful, and elegant. Our waitress was kind and attentive, gave us great recommendations, and made us feel truly welcomed. 💫 We were seated by the window, which made the experience even more magical. Every few minutes, the view would subtly change, giving us a full panoramic look at the dazzling New York City skyline. 🌆 One of the highlights was actually the ride up — a panoramic elevator that gives you a stunning view before you even step into the restaurant. It felt like the beginning of a special journey. 🚀 This is more than just a place to eat — it’s a full experience. If you’re visiting NYC or celebrating something special, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND 💯 (Personally mine) this spot. It’s unforgettable!

Excellent. Recommended for fine dining, dinner dates. Food is perfect. Loved the steak. And it's really revolving. Quite fancy. We were late for our reservation but they were very accomodating.

Yelp
Located at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The name of the place speaks for itself! The restaurant/lounge rotates, so you really do get a whole 360 degree view. Go there during sunset for the most beautiful views New York has to offer. You have the choice between sitting at the restaurant or lounge. I highly recommend the lounge for a more intimate clear setting (since the restaurant is at a lower floor than the lounge). However, the lounge doesn't offer the full service dinner menu - just bites, desserts, and raw bar options. I came for a pre-dinner cocktails and wasn't disappointed. Cadillac Margarita - Patron Resposado, kalamansi, Grand Marnier, and chili oil powder. A slight twist on the classic margarita - the added chili oil powder adds a fun spice to the drink. Be warned that the spice level is a bit more than mild. Marquee Old Fashioned - Suntory Toki, cognac, shiso, peach, miso, brown butter, and honey. I actually prefer Japanese whiskey for my old fashions, so this drink was perfect. The miso brown butter adds a nuttiness and depth, while the shiso/peach slightly elevate the classic old fashioned profile. Service was friendly and welcoming. Would recommend going here for a more quiet view of the City!

Yelp
Skylar was the absolute best. Thank you all so much for making this day a truly special one, we can't wait to be back. Order the prime rib and the Cadillac margarita!

Yelp
When you take the elevator to the 48th floor of the Marriott Marquis, you're definitely winding up there for the view, and the slow-moving 360 degree views of Manhattan... and for that alone, The View fulfills its promise. The food and service are essentially what every other Time Square restaurant has become with the lowest common denominator of tourist expectations met (locals should only visit for drinks when there is an expense account involved). Wines by the glass appear to be a decent variety of selections until you try them and realize that they've picked bottles that either represent the bottom of the pecking order, or aren't stored well for days on end (we had to send two glasses back, one with sediment and the other with a clearly corked off-putting odor and taste). The food is two-star chain restaurant steakhouse quality at four-star prices. The cuts of meat have some fairly excessive fat and rely on copious amounts of seasonings to cover that up before it arrives at the table (I guess so that you'll hopefully not notice the lower quality?). Starters and sides continued the disappointment, with the fried artichokes being very small and mostly batter, and the caesar salad being drowned in over an inch of cheese, hiding the incredibly small amount of lettuce. The potatoes au gratin, however, was a standout side dish which would absolutely be worth ordering in the lounge with a cocktail.

Yelp
This is a nostalgic and classic New York City dining experience with a romantic ambience. The revolving view of the city coupled with the pianist and the classy waitstaff make for the perfect backdrop for an elevated dining experience. It reminds me of the Windows on the World from the former World Trade Center. Their Manhattan cocktail was memorable. The potato au gratin hit the spot alongside the flavorful picanha. The crab cake was also pretty good. The banana oats sundae was a delectable dessert.

Yelp
What can I ? There was absolutely nothing , NOT ONE THING negative about this dining experience . The staff, the ambiance, THE FOOD . It was ALL top tier . Grant it, I've been here many years ago- I haven't revisited since the reopening and I pinch myself every single time I wonder why ? Do I recommend? Yes, would I go back ?? ABSOLUTELY ! Next time you'll get pics of the food lol . I was very busy

Yelp
A revolving restaurant is kind of old school. This one sits atop the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square and surely first opened in the 20th century. It was recently taken over by renowned restauranteur Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, so I gave it a try. While the food was decent, the view was meh on a cloudy day. To get to the View, you are guided to a special elevator from the 3rd floor of the hotel. You are dropped off on the 48th floor, which is the Lounge, which serves small bites along with drinks. The restaurant is on the 47th floor, down another elevator or a staircase. The restaurant revolves quite slowly; it takes about 90 minutes for a full rotation. While you see the tops of many mid-town buildings, you don't see down to Times Square itself, nor did I see the Empire State or Chrysler buildings. I suppose sunset and/or evening lights would be more impressive. There is a live pianist. The menu is fairly traditional steakhouse fare. I started with the fried artichokes with garlic aioli, which were pretty good, albeit a bit greasy. Note the only "bread" you are given are a few cheesy breadsticks. My entree choice was the roast chicken with a warm green bean and bread salad and mustard jus. Tasty, but very messily plated. There were maybe 2 pieces of bread. For sides, I always get creamed spinach, which was fine, as were the potatoes au gratin. Dessert was a very good cherries jubilee sundae. Overall a decent dining experience.

Yelp
My husband and I were looking for something unique during our NYC trip -- and The View Restaurant & Lounge absolutely delivered! Located on the 48th floor of the Marriott Marquis, this place slowly rotates 360° every hour, giving you an ever-changing view of the city while you dine. It was something we really wanted to try -- and it was even better than we expected! We had a lovely dinner with wine, and everything tasted amazing. Our server was friendly and helpful, and the overall vibe was calm, romantic, and elegant. The rotation is slow and smooth, so you're not dizzy -- just mesmerized by the changing city lights. Sitting by the window made it even more special. You look outside -- and 10 minutes later, the view has transformed. It's magical. And let's not forget the panoramic elevator that takes you to the top -- what a fun way to start the evening! This is a must-do in New York, especially if you love unique dining experiences. Whether you're celebrating or just want to see the city from a new perspective, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND (Personally mine).

Yelp
You can never go wrong with a Danny Meyer establishment. He's like the King Midas of nyc the restaurant industry -- everything he touches turns to gold. I had dinner at the restaurant on the 47th floor but they also have a bar/lounge on the 48th floor as well with a different menu. The ambiance is incredible, and it is such a cool concept that the restaurant literally turns slowly so you get a full 360 view of the city as you eat. And the live music is such an elegant touch. Some things to note that prevented me from giving it stellar remarks -- they ran out of all fish when I ordered and it wasn't even that late (we were there at 7.30pm) and as a pescatarian it was pretty disheartening so I just had to go with the crab cake appetiser as my main, which was good so not the worst situation. The food did take a while to come so we were definitely starving by that point. But once it did come, I was pleased. The potato au gratin -- incredible. Absolutely must get. That alone is worth the wait. Overall, it's definitely a cool concept and the food is really good too.

Yelp
I made a rez here before a show to try something "fun" and we had a great time! Our waitress was so cool and lovely, we really enjoyed the food and cocktails (which tbh I didn't expect ! I thought you were paying for, well, the view), the ambience was old New York but still relaxed and there was live piano. And our wonderful server got us out to our show with perfect timing. If you're curious, check out The View, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yelp
One of the more memorable dinners! The view was definitely worth it, especially during sunset. The crab cake was good - didn't have much fillers, but the crab meat was rather stringy/dry than lumpy/juicy. (Ah, how I miss you, Maryland crab cakes.) The seared duck breast was tender and paired nicely with the dates but could've been more juicy. The creamed spinach was less creamy than expected but very flavorful, and the potatoes au gratin were absolutely amazing. The signature chocolate cake was very impressive, especially the caramel sauce that came on the side. Service was warm and attentive! Upscale ambience but not stuffy (we don't like pretentiousness, thanks).

Yelp
Such a fun dining experience. Danny Meyer didn't need to do much: serve good food and let us enjoy the view. The revolving restaurant is kind of awesome, I fear. The food is solid, too. Steak and Americana. We had a reservation for 3 at 7:15pm on a Wednesday that I got 2 days before. It didn't seem hard to get the reservation, although it was pretty bustling when we were seated. The view is actually delightful. There's a live pianist, which was cool. We stayed for 3 hours or so and completed 1.5 full rotations, seeing the pianist twice, who was still playing after a few hours. I have to mention that we waited quite a while between ordering and courses, so have patience. It's kind of a luxury being at the top of a Times Square Marriott in their revolving restaurant, I guess. We got cocktails - dirty vodka martinis, old fashioneds, margaritas. All were quite boozy and delicious. They're $22, but what do you expect at a restaurant like this? We got half a dozen oysters, and the complimentary bread service, which is actually some bread crisps that are very well-seasoned with an everything-bagel-like seasoning. Tasty. For mains, we got a burger, the bass, and the duck. Everything was pretty solid, if sliiightly overcooked. I liked my burger bun. The dishes are all also presented very nicely, like the sea bass cut out table-side from the sous vide bag and plated very carefully by a server. For dessert, we shared an espresso martini and the whipped cocktail, along with the $18 chocolate cake. Get the cake, it's massive and covered in caramel and worth it. The whipped cocktail was nice. Service was weirdly...fine. It seems like they were flustered and slow and not trained well? They were nice but so slow, and it wasn't even uber busy... I fear what it's like on a weekend night. We had patience, but also they spilled a whole glass of water on me and again, thankfully I was patient, but come on... friendly, but just not the quality I expect at a Danny Meyer restaurant. Or maybe I should lower my expectations and just enjoy the view.

Yelp
Dining at The View was truly an unforgettable NYC experience. Before dinner, I headed up to the lounge and enjoyed a cocktail as the city slowly spun beneath me. Yes, the restaurant actually rotates. I highly recommend starting your evening there. I sipped on a sweet Moscato, my favorite way to ease into a night out, followed by their version of a Pornstar Martini made with Kettle One and passion fruit. Fruity, bold, and smooth. A perfect pre-dinner treat. We kicked dinner off with oysters and a shrimp cocktail, and both were absolutely fresh and flavorful. The ideal start to the meal. I chose the crab cake for my entrée, and it was delicious. Well-seasoned, perfectly seared on the outside, and moist on the inside. It paired perfectly with the elegant atmosphere and twinkling skyline. The best part was watching the sun set over the river and NYC skyline as the restaurant rotated, offering a view from every angle without leaving your seat. Between the ambiance, the cocktails, and the quality of the seafood, The View lives up to its name and then some. Perfect for a romantic evening, a celebration, or just treating yourself. Service was amazing! Upstairs Samantha was my attendee and downstairs I believe her name was Isabell

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised this is reopened. With new food management it went under a complete renovation. It circles the city while you're sitting eating dinner. They did a great job renovating it. The waitress and staff were very nice and accommodating and knowledgeable. I had the black bass which was very good. It came with asparagus we also had the Pork chop, which was very good. The shrimp appetizer was large and delicious as was the steak. We also had a wedge salad mashed potatoes and mushrooms, which was all good. it was a delicious meal and a beautiful atmosphere and it was my birthday and they even gave me a complementary sherbet, which was like icing on the cake for such a lovely evening. We will return. I would like to come back when it's dark so I can see the city all lit up.

Yelp
Fantastic ambiance, hospitality, and dining at the newly renovated and upgraded revolving restaurant on the 47th floor of the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Now part of the USH family, this refreshed version brings the beloved 80s and 90s icon back to modern-day glory. The restaurant completes a full 360-degree rotation every 90 minutes, turning clockwise when viewed from above. The Caesar salad was rich, cheesy, and indulgent. The steaks were tender and perfectly seared, and the sides were flavorful and generously portioned. But the true show-stopper was the chocolate cake with caramel sauce--absolutely unforgettable. Stellar service from Ashley E., who was attentive, meticulous, and personable. Special thanks to Mike P. for his warm and gracious hospitality.

Yelp
This review is for The Lounge at The View. The View, at the top of the Marriott Marquis, is a great spot for pre and post theater cocktails. The view from The View is great. The View moves slowly so it takes 75 to 90 minutes to go the full 360 degrees. It is worth the time and the cocktails are good too.

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner on a Saturday night at The View. I didn't know what to expect given the Times Square location and the spinning aspect. We were celebrating a much delayed anniversary. I put it in the notes for our reservation and I'm glad we did. There was a nice card congratulating us. Then the manager, Mike came over to greet us. We ordered drinks. My husband had a mocktail (the Fool's Gold Fashioned and it was excellent), I got a Manhattan (more on that in a bit). Mike Noticed the non-alcoholic drink order. Apparently they usually do a complimentary glass of bubbly but since he saw the mocktail, he brought over some fancy Shirley Temples with Luxardo cherries. It was a little sweet for my taste. But then Mike came back again with a glass of bubbly for me because he noticed that I was having a traditional cocktail. Speaking of the Manhattan: one of the best I've ever had. The other two were at Keenes and Babbo. On the menu the drink was made with rye, which I know is traditional, but I prefer bourbon. I told them to surprise me on the bourbon. I wish I had asked because it was the smoothest Manhattan I've ever had. On to the food. We shared the fried artichoke. It was a little greasy but very good. The aioli was delicious. For dinner I had the filet and my husband the rib eye. Both were excellent. I had the Béarnaise sauce and it was a nice addition but the steak didn't need it. For our sides we chose the potatoes au gratin and the creamed spinach. Both were very good. For dessert I had the cherries jubilee sundae and my husband the cheesecake. His was very good. Nice texture. My sundae was good but nothing special. The only thing keeping this from being five stars is that aside from Mike, the service was good but not flawless. Our server was very pleasant and friendly and very attentive but a little green. But it didn't really detract from the experience. About the restaurant itself, the spinning seems gimmicky but it is very fun! We were seated around 8pm and the sun was setting. I was facing west so I got to see it. And as we ate and rotated, it became night and we were able to enjoy the skyline. We completed one full rotation. We had a wonderful meal. Once again I want to give props to Mike. He was very good and it's clear that the place runs smoothly because of him. We will definitely be back because our teen girl would love it.

Yelp
This is a review for the Lounge (48th floor) at The View, a rotating bar lounge at the Marriott Marquis. Once inside the hotel, take the clearly signed escalator up one level to the 3rd floor. From there, follow the signs for The View, where a host will greet you and escort you to the 48th floor. There was a complementary coatcheck on the 3rd floor (which makes immense sense). They recently reopened after a long closure in Feb 2025. We went in April on a Saturday evening after seeing a matinee close by. I have been here many times over the years but haven't been in over a decade, and it is QUITE different. I was excited to go since it had been so long and we were having a classic NY theater weekend. Finding out it was part of Danny Meyer's restaurant group made it an easy sell to us. So much to say about this scene, the slow easy views and new setup. Very satisfied with the delicious food and pricing (for this neighborhood). I think the restaurant is appropriately overpriced but the lounge is a bit of a bargain considering the view and service. (Note: I've had worse and more expensive drinks at some of the divish bars close by). We had beers and cocktails after an Italian dinner a few blocks away. Extremely pleased with the service from every single person met but our friendly and prompt server Drew was stellar. It seemed everyone knew how to handle the theater and tourist crowd. Next time we will sample the raw bar and other items but our deserty sweet post meal cocktails were a lovely way to spend over an hour chatting about the day and relaxing while it April showers rained outside. Sorry no photos of the actual view but it's all of TS and the midtown Manhattan, and you can look down to see the hubbub below.

Yelp
Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group has done it again! The View is a welcome addition to the Times Square restaurant scene. I had high hopes for this restaurant, perched on the 47th floor of the Marriott Marquis hotel and this new spot delivered. The service was warm and attentive, the food was delicious and the drinks were strong. The space is more modestly decorated than other restaurants in this restaurant group, however this was understandable because it's really about the view. As a native New Yorker, I thought this concept was fun but not amazing! If you're looking for a classy place to grab a drink or a bite before a show, I'd come here. Ordered: Kingston margarita ($22)- wow, just wow. I'll be back for this cocktail. A classic margarita done well and then there was a twist! I like that it came with grapefruit soda which you can add as you wish. Shrimp cocktail ($28)- four jumbo prawns arrived on ice with shaved fresh horseradish. It came with cocktail sauce. I enjoyed this! Hearts of palm salad ($22)- this was a nice salad with multicolor orange slices, hearts of palm, radicchio and pistachios. The flavors worked well together although it wasn't earth shattering. Tuna carpaccio ($26)- topped with dressed arugula and fried capers, this was a high quality appetizer. Black bass ($32)- this felt like the best value and one of my favorites! The fish was cooked to perfection and the broth had saffron, swiss chard and olives. The only thing missing was some good bread to sop up the broth. The view chocolate cake ($18)- this is a very large slice of cake! It's dense and chocolatey and if that's not enough, it came with caramel sauce. Three of us split it and it was huge. I'd say it's a good value. Dining here was a fun experience! I was pleased from start to finish.

Yelp
The advertisement doesn't do it justice. The ambiance was quite lovely. The pianist was exceptional! The rotation is well calibrated - we enjoyed a wonderful multi course meal that took us 2-hours and we found ourselves ending tight where we started. But the food was the point of the visit and it did not disappoint. The crab cake appetizer blessed us at every bite of fresh citrus and crab atop a perfected remoulade with a nice little kick of spice. The steak was as good as any of the finest we've ever had, from Fleming's to Bern's. I actually ordered a seafood tower that was not in the menu downstairs but they accommodated my request from their upstairs menu and it was worth all 135 of the dollars paid! The oysters were fresh and delicious, the star was the tuna tartar, but the pistachio topped ceviche and cracked shellfish with lemon butter dip were absolutely scrumptious and dessert was just as memorable - chocolate with caramel sauce.... Oh my goodness. We will return!

Yelp
Wonderful experience at The View, and the view! The restaurant is rotating so slowly, and at dinner time it's beautiful and gives you various views of Times Square. Service was top-notch, the wait staff are attentive without being annoying, a hard task but they do it well. I never felt smothered but did feel taken care of all evening. The Caesar salad was delish, I ordered the snake river farms picanha for dinner... holy buttery beef. Delicious! Broccoli and mushrooms were perfect alongside. The piano tunes created the perfect ambience, and with good company was a perfect night out in NYC.

Yelp
Came to the view for a dinner with friends. The kitch of a rotating restaurant is fun but it doesn't overcome average food. There are zero vegan options here. Friends shared a steak which they didn't like. The drinks were ok and the service was ok. Probably won't come back but it's worth doing once for the "view".
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely view and tuneful piano music. Service and presentation excellent. Food mostly fine, but not good enough to rate five stars. The summer green salad was uninspired, the snap peas not snappy enough, the ricotta salata in such fine shreds that it added little, the little peas rolling about, an absolute mistake. The baby iceberg salad demonstrated what The View does best: big flavors, from the blue cheese dressing to the quail eggs and lardons that really popped. The complimentary cheese straws had no crunch but were well-seeded and tasty. The much-touted burger and fries were good enough, though someone let loose a shakerful of salt on the fries. The pork porterhouse was lovely and succulent, though it was far beyond the medium rare advertised. The chocolate chip cookie was a bit too sweet and partook of a trend we've seen: make the cookie so gooey that it's impossible to lift in one piece. Still an experience justifying the cost. Worth a trip but maybe not a second visit.

Yelp
The way to get there was a maze and make me feel like an exclusive club member. The service was exceptional from start to finish. The service in the restaurant was great and our server was well versed in the NYC things to do. The ambiance was great but not over the top. The rotating floor was nice and the piano player was very talented. The staff was attentive and worked as a team. The food was really good. Cooked perfectly and seasoned right. The only thing not perfect was the mashed potatoes had too much salt. The family style sides was just right in the amount. I would 100% recommend "The View" for a dinner date.

Marc G.

Yelp
We booked this for fun, expecting it to be a bit cheesy, but having grown up on celebratory brunch at the Space Needle revolving restaurant, I couldn't resist. Well, the service was amazing. Gracious and friendly. We were late (stuck in traffic; I texted), and they promptly found us another table. The food was quite good. I learned that one can flash fry artichoke hearts instead of grilling them and may give that a try at home. We had the rib steak, which was quite fatty (I don't mean marbled), but it was a large portion and cooked and seasoned perfectly, and served with two sauces (I think they were comped--see below). We also had the risotto of farro and quinoa. I was deeply skeptical, but it was fantastic--loaded with asparagus and absolutely delicious. My cocktail was serviceable (I ordered a martini with olives and it came with a twist but that was quickly taken care of.) What I didn't expect, as we chatted and ate our starter, watching the great views and enjoying the very nice live piano music, was that we were told we'd had to wait too long for our entrees and were comped the side of our choice. I asked for mushrooms, and the server said we'd have to get the potatoes au gratin as well. So out they both came (along with the two steak sauces)! I can't say the prices were cheap (I'm from Seattle, home of the $40 burger and beer), but they were reasonable (and with all the comps, less than we'd spent for pasta and a bottle of wine in SoHo the night before). We were too full to order dessert or after-dinner drinks. Super fun place for great service, great views (the Chrysler Building spire!), a fun ambience among guests clearly enjoying themselves, and a menu that will please if not surprise.

Yelp
We had drinks and apps in the bar and the service was excellent. I highly suggest the oysters, pigs in a blanket and the stuffed mushrooms. They were all delicious. The cocktails are great although I would avoid the Sancerre wine, it was not great. The revolving restaurant is very cool even for a native New Yorker.

Yelp
Great service - we didn't have a dinner reservation so opted to have a giant seafood appetizer for three with yummy drinks. The view is aptly named as the rotating restaurant and bar was amazing. Got out of the crowds of Times Square and enjoyed beautiful views!
google avatar

Eric Y.

Yelp
Michelle provided an excellent friendly service, as well as the rest of the team supporting her. The Cesar salad was one of the best I've ever had. I liked the salmon, though not memorable. The potatoes o'gratin were delicious. I think the prices were reasonable considering the service and view. The rotating restaurant was a fun plus, but I can't say I was wowed by the view, but definitely more scenic than eating at ground level indoors.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience. They make you feel like royalty. The food and service were both five stars. I had the sword fish and my husband had the sirloin steak. The view is 10 star!

Yelp
I completely enjoyed my experience and the food was amazing. On top of that we had the best waiter I. The world Kervin. He just topped it off. I definitely recommend coming here anytime you are in the city in Times Square or for any visitors. It was the best food I ate while in New York

Yelp
We had a very nice celebration dinner here. Good cocktails, and I enjoyed my large portion of prime rib. Other diners recommended the roast chicken, the swordfish and the steamed black bass. Our server was attentive and engaging. The revolving movement is VERY slow; I thought it was hardly noticeable, although one member of our party who does not like heights found it a little unsettling. A unique NYC experience!

Julie H.

Yelp
This restaurant would've been worth it for the view alone. Add on friendly, attentitive service and a solid menu and this was one of our favorite meals. My filet was tender and expertly prepared and highlighted with the bearnaise sauce. The Brazilian steak cut was also amazing. The chocolate cake was the perfect ending. It's huge so best to split. The piano was the perfect extra touch. Will definitely do this again.

The View is the only revolving restaurant in NY, and was recently reopened. The ambience is very nice with live piano music, and located on the 47th floor of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. The price is quite reasonable by NY standard, especially considering the 360 views from Level 47th and it being a revolving restaurant. It takes about an hour for the floor to go around. The service was also good. We came here for a belated Valentine's dinner, which was memorable.

Yelp
Truly a special night at the newly renovated "The View". The ambiance checks out for a great date night out or any special occasion. The service we received was top notch and the food was fantastic. There was no stone left unturned her. We headed upstairs to the Lounge after dinner and never felt rushed even after midnight.

Yelp
My husband and I just had dinner here and it was amazing! From the staff, ambiance, to food. We made reservations once we arrived at the hotel for 5:15pm we were going to see a broadway show, our server Tristen ( who was amazing) he was very personable nice to chat with, answered any questions and above all else made sure we left in time for the show. We went to NYC to celebrate my birthday once we got to the restaurant I don't think there was a staff member who did not wish me a "Happy Birthday " which was a really nice touch. For dinner my husband had the raw oysters and the lamb chops he enjoyed them both. I had the Tuna carpaccio and Duck. They both were really great choices. Not only the food and service but what the restaurant is named for 'The View' is spectacular! The restaurant rotates which takes about an hour to go full circle. But the views are amazing!! My husband and I will be back for a special treat here at The View! It's been a while where a restaurant has really made us both feel so "wow" afterwards. Thank you for a special birthday dinner and trip, it really made the trip stand out.

Yelp
Gotta give some love to the View, which has revived a great ticky tacky piece of New York history. Not a trendy place to eat by any means, and you won't see many native New Yorkers, who turn their nose up at the Times Square locale. But it's absolutely perfect for a pre-theatre dinner. Rotating floorplate that changes the view from the window is frankly awesome. Its so weird. Got the sunset which showed off the skyline from full daylight to twilight - the room looks better at night and feels like you're in a spaceship. Best thing we tasted were the au gratin potatoes, and the cheesecake. Tuna carpaccio with finger limes was unique and seductive. Liked the chicken preparation, which was dredged in flour to give the roast a crispy exterior, kind of mid-point between fried and a traditional roast. I will say that the food could level up from good to great, so looking forward to visiting again and seeing how the kitchen evolves.

Yelp
Food was good. Service was amazing. As far as price goes it was spot on for NYC. Don't compare pricing to your hometown if you're visiting. Remember this is NYC. If you're from NYC you won't be shocked.

Yelp
Amazing service And great spot to watch the sunset. Drinks were craft drinks and the server and hostess were so friendly.

Yelp
This place really deserves 5 stars me and my friends went here for dessert and all the desserts tasted so good. And the restaurant spins around and you get different views of New York City but don't worry you won't get dizzy.

Yelp
Food menu is mostly classic dishes, but everything is cooked to perfection. Drinks are delicious and service and view are stellar.

Yelp
Still a work in progress. Initially called to make sure full menu was still available at the last seating. Was told yes. I called to check since family member wanted the prime rib. Upon ordering we were told that the Prime Rib was sold out and was first come first served. Would have been nice to know this in advance since we would have booked an earlier time another nightl. A manager told us that it was a call center for more than one restaurant. For a high end restaurant, the agent should be trained to say that the prime rib is limited and subject to being sold out. Oddly, I ordered mashed potatoes with my filet and was later told sorry, we are sold out. How does a restaurant run out of mashed potatoes to go with their steaks? Also ordered the Black Bass. It was not fully descaled and my family member had to keep picking scales out of his mouth! The shrimp cocktail and oysters were very good as was the filet. The caesar salad the iceberg salads were also good. The service from the main waiter was sporadic. We were left unattended for extended periods when we would have liked to order more drinks.. When it came time for the check, we had to wait so long that I almost got up to to the hostess to ask how to get it. As a "recovery gesture" the manager said he would bring us some "sweets." We received a scoop of tropical sorbet to share instead of what we thought would be one the other elaborately described deserts. We laughed. Maybe they ran out of those too. That summed up how we felt about the meal. The View was sadly the best part. As a side note, we got a telephone call at 12:19am telling us that they mangled the check and wanted to know what our tip and total was. We only got 1 copy of the check to sign and not one to keep. Lucky for them I took a picture of it. Their marketing of the experience of dining at The View is very different from the reality. If they do not up their game and work on their service and food prep, I would surmise they will not be able to sustain the menu options at this price point long term.

Yelp
Took advantage of the spectacular views offered by the Lounge & Restaurant to fete some out-of-town guests at possibly the only surviving rotating establishment in Manhattan & beyond... Service-- 4.5/5 The crew worked hard to provide expected hospitality, offering ready smiles and efficiency. Food-- 3/5 We ordered three appetizers, four entrees, three sides and one dessert, plus a complement of bevs. The clear winner was the dessert-- the chocolate cake was divine and prompted almost all to agree to come back just for that giant slice of heaven! And, that fact alone speaks to the problem: when the dessert is the highlight of your meal... More specifically, the duck breast was a victim of shrinkflation; it was so petite as to be overwhelmed by accompanying turnips, which is a pity because the flavor was excellent. The sea bass, on the other hand, suffered from a lack of seasoning and tasted merely bland and entirely unremarkable. The other two mains, namely the burger and lobster spaghetti, were just meh as well and failed to elicit any spontaneous comments of joy. Ambience-- 3/5 The great views, moody interior lighting and club-room furnishings notwithstanding, the music (being piped in by the hotel perhaps?) was horrendous. The establishment engenders a Mad Men kind of vibe and yet, the whole evening we were subjected to an endless loop of piano renderings of Chris Martin and such. The volume and incongruence were so great that one can't help but pay even more attention to it and became even more agitated as the night wore on. All in all, these are all easy fixes and should be considered to shake off the expected opening hiccups. Good luck.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience!! Came here on our last night and enjoyed some dessert and cocktails. Melton was a great server and Sara was absolutely wonderful and the vibe here is perfect for an after show treat. Cannot beat the view. Must visit for sure!

Yelp
Incredible! Its hands down the greatest restaurants in NYC and I have visited 1000s of restaurants.

Yelp
One star for the view and one star for a nice manager. 3 stars off for rude staff, poor organization, and poor temperature control. My party of two went to the lounge at 10:30pm on a night of record-breaking heat (the high temp for the day was 101 degrees). The lounge felt barely if at all cooler than outside. We sat for 10 minutes with no service so we got up to ask if we could get drinks downstairs in the restaurant instead, because the A/C was working in the restaurant. We were told the restaurant was closed, and we clarified we wanted drinks only. We were told to wait while the staff member checked with a manager. Let me be clear -- we were totally happy to go somewhere else if they couldn't seat us on the cooler floor. However, we figured it was worth asking since we were there and ready to spend money -- we just needed to be cooler after running around the city in the heat all day. A couple of minutes later we were told that we would be received downstairs. Once we arrived downstairs, we asked a comically high number of staff members if we could be seated for drinks, all of whom said they would go ask the manager. Finally a nice man whom we presumed to be the manager seated us. Then an extremely snobby server took our drink orders. Then we were approached by a woman who appeared to be a manager who told us she could accommodate us up in the lounge but not in the restaurant. We explained we were told a manager had said we could have drinks in the restaurant due to the high temperature in the lounge. She said that was wrong and we had to leave because there was a private party (the restaurant was practically empty and by now it was 11pm, so this story was highly unlikely). On the way out we ran into the gentleman who had seated us in the first place. He was dismayed and we expressed our strong displeasure with having been basically kicked out of the establishment. He then took us back to our table and gave us complimentary drinks. We really appreciated his handling of the situation, but it did not make up for the way the other staff treated us. It was embarrassing to be asked to leave, and it was clear none of the staff understood how to help us with a simple request that took over 40 minutes to figure out. And we never saw any private party, so feel surely the woman was lying to come up with an excuse to exercise her authority. The view is terrific, but it wasn't easy to enjoy it after our very unpleasant experience.

Yelp
At conference, went here because is in hotel. First, the view is amazing ( yes it's in the name). Second, service was off the chart Michelin star level. I had new Amsterdam sour. Crazy good. I order picania (spelling? -- braz steak cut). This is hands down best version of that steak I have ever had. Eyes closing dining life experience event. Omg. I asked waiter to pair wine and it was also awesome. I am coming back. Ps. Had cookie (good) and pecan ice cream ( awesome) for desert

Yelp
This place was amazing! I only came for dessert but it was the best all the way. The staff are kind and well mannered. The restaurant turns and allows you to see the city. This is a must visit!
