The Voltaggio Brothers Are Opening an Italian Restaurant at the Village at Mammoth in January 2023 | Eater SF

"Set to debut in January next year at 6201 Minaret Road in Mammoth Lakes, Vulcania at the Village at Mammoth will be a new restaurant from Food Network–famous brothers Bryan and Michael Voltaggio inside a condominium hotel that already houses more than two dozen restaurants and shops. Details are sparse, but the brothers say it will serve “modern Italian American” food, including dishes like rigatoni arrabbiata with brown butter sauce and basil; it will be operated in partnership with Levy Restaurants. The space is promised to combine mid‑century modern elements with “the flare of Italy in the 1980s.”" - Lauren Saria

Google
Full of stores very modern. It has great restaurants. It's always a good time

Google
Such a fun place to walk around and Window Shop or actually shop shop LOL also a fantastic place to try the village gondola, grab some dinner at one of the many beautiful restaurant options, some ice cream at hugs, and of course grab a very unique souvenir at one of the wonderful shops. There are fire pits to sit around where you can enjoy some hot beverages and relax it is definitely a wonderful area to spend an afternoon or evening just relaxing without doing your skiing or snowboarding workout. Love hanging out in the village!

Richard W.

Google
We 3 walked over here after spending some time at the Brewery next door. Surprise! Live music and a little festival happening. Bunch of damn old hippies and their hula hoops groovin' to some killer bluegrass! Spontaneity! Score one for us! What a fun place to hang, and there's also a very large and warm fire pit to share with the other hippies and mountain folk 🫣 lots of fun, & you should definitely plan to spend some time here with all the restaurants and shops available to you!

Google
We love this place. It’s a little pricey, but the vibe, especially during ski season is awesome. There are some good restaurants and a few nice shops to pick up a cool souvenir.

Sam B.

Google
Outdoor shopping mall with dining options conveniently located next to the Village lodge. Limited family-friendly eateries but abundant bars for those looking to enjoy drinks. Most stores close by 8 or 9pm in the Summer. Convenient parking. No public restroom.

Guillaume B.

Google
Nice area of Mammoth with a few nice restaurants and shops. Has been recently added and might lack the charm of a real authentic village but it does the job in case you are staying in the vicinity.

Google
Great place lots of shopping. Sad to see so many businesses struggling and so many gone. Maybe rent is high so it’s hard for them to stay afloat. The village is clean and nice looking. Parking is difficult. The place needs some rehab. Starting to show wear and getting dated. But definitely a nice place to stay or visit.

Google
One of my worst experiences in the USA and in all my life. The scenario is like a ghost city, with useless and unhelpful staff. Dirty floor, not nice selection of decorative furniture, it’s just sad everywhere you look. Really pricey for the standard of service they offer, and not good quality at all. The signs as well not very clear and you may fall like I did. Not entertainment area and very boring clientele. I definitely not recommend this hotel. Yosemite has other better options and we really regretted to stay there.

Yelp
Not the best experience for the high price. I went in the cabinet to get a dish and it had food on it from the previous guest. Upon checkout, I asked for a late check out and was told no and that I could shower in the gym. I didn't think that was good taste to tell a guest. I won't be staying here again.

Yelp
It's a nice shopping area where the village gondola is located. There's some shopping available for clothes, ice cream, restaurants, toys, general store, etc. The area's pretty small. You can finish browsing the stores in 15 minutes. It currently has some nice Christmas decorations.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute area of Mammoth to visit for shops, food, and drink! Styled in alpine architecture, it gives off ski chalet town vibes. I came here after I was skied out one afternoon, and browsed the retail stores for ~half an hour. My group also came here one evening for a fantastic dinner at Shelter Distilling and a little bar hopping which ended with late night karaoke at the tiki bar. It's worth visiting while staying in the area! Pretty well connected via the free shuttle service, and there's a gondola between the Village area and Canyon Lodge.

Yelp
Charming little village nestled in between the mountains. Hubby took me here at the end of summer as part of our vacation. There's a couple of restaurants and souvenir shops. The area is very pet friendly too! Parking is limited but we recommend parking at the public lot in front of the Westin Monache and walking over. We bought a ton of souvenirs and merch from here. Not cheap but good quality items. We absolutely love this charming little village. The food offerings are okay, but it gets the job done!
google avatar

Yelp
The worst place in Mammoth. If you're looking for peace and quite don't stay here. The village charges high rent rates and delivered nothing in return. The bars are open until 2 am, drunk crowd make noise, yields and screams all night. Guests are getting into shouting matches with bar goers, breaking into physical fights. Don't come close to this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! I can't believe how much Mammoth Lakes has grown since I last skied here. Such a classy resort with some upscale hotels, a beautiful lodge, and this cool village filled with shops, restaurants, coffee stops, etc. We didn't get to stay too long but the shops I visited everyone was very helpful and friendly. There is something for everyone here whether you just want to kick back and people watch, grab the lift to the mountain, eat some tasty food or shop to your hearts delight. As we were leaving, we discovered that the Mammoth Reggae Festival was coming in this weekend. We were kinda bummed we didn't plan better but good to know for next year. They host other music festivals throughout the year along with food, wine and beer events. Can't wait to come back and explore more of what this village has to offer.
google avatar

Sang P.

Yelp
Good beer selection. Line can get really long after the lifts close. Shops are nice. It can get quite windy. The chilli famous here and tasty. The wrap also is very good and juicy.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Great place for a short getaway - excellent service and accommodations. Am hoping for a longer stay next time.

Yelp
The Village is a great amenity and social hang when in Mammoth Lakes. It's big, beautiful, open air, and there's always something happening. The wide walkways that wind through the space can comfortably accommodate a lot of people, so it never feels crowded. It has a beautiful mountain vibe while being modern at the same time. There's a reasonable pay parking lot directly across the street if you're driving, and the free trolley will drop you off right in the center of it all. I love the variety of restaurants and bars. Campo is a favorite, Pita Pit is pure nostalgia, and I've heard great things about the Mexican restaurant too. I was impressed to discover Shelter Distilling and the wine bar looked great too. Not to mention the ice cream shop! There's something for everyone. No trip to Mammoth is complete without some time here. Check out all they have to offer and plan your visit.
google avatar

Yelp
The pull out bed was the worst pull out bed ever. The springs cut into your body. Could not sleep a wink. . Even kids that never complain couldn't sleep. The first. Night they didn't even have blankets!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a grouping of restaurants, bars, and shops that all surround a hotel (the Village Lodge, which has a separate Yelp page). It's a bit touristy which can obviously get obnoxious (encountered a large group of loud and drunk guys). Still, it's nice to walk around and check out a variety of businesses. Plus, it's a cute and cozy area. As far as recommendations go, Shelter Distilling was a rather classy spot for a cocktail. The food options looked pretty basic so we actually left and went to Skadi, an amazing Nordic restaurant (a 5-minute walk from here). I highly recommend it if you want something a little classier (just be sure to make reservations). We actually stayed at the Village Lodge (which has an underground parking garage for guests) but I'm not sure what your parking options are as visitors. They might be limited.

Yelp
This is the only place we've ever lodged at in Mammoth Lakes. Why, because I looked around and other places run about the same cost nightly. For a little bit more, you get a lot. We love how big the rooms are, with a full kitchen and living room. Plus you are able to walk to all the different shopping and restaurants. Never been here during the winter time, it must be very magical with snow all over the place. My husband and I, aren't fancy people. Staying here we allow ourselves this time to be spoiled. :^)
google avatar

Alex Y.

Yelp
I love the Village. Great place to have a romantic walk. Go shopping or get some food. Absolute sensation during winter evenings. And your kids will love it too.
google avatar

Tony S.

Yelp
Great shopping center for all your needs. Fun environment, delicious food choices, coffee, ice cream and bars. Gondola ride onsite (simply MUST do). Plenty of parking. Clothes, shoes, food, snacks, tourist mementos, all found here. A couple of great resorts on property too! A must see/must do.
google avatar

Jordan A.

Yelp
Beautiful place and some good coffee and food. I wish it was a little more accessible during off season but I get why it's not. It's lovely to walk around and people watch. The gondola is awesome too!

Kauai G.

Yelp
We stayed in one of the Village Condos. Pros: 1) The rental had three bedrooms and three bathrooms that could accommodate our large family. The unit was nice enough, although it did show some wear and tear. Cons: 1) The rental only comes with one parking pass. We had three cars since our older kids drove from other parts of the state. Public parking across the street was FIFTY dollars for overnight parking. 2) There was only ONE restaurant that we actually enjoyed - The New York Deli. We tried several other restaurants that were either WAY over priced or the food was just horrible. We came here to hike, so we probably won't be staying here again. I suppose if you come here in the winter to ski, staying here might be worth the easy access to the ski lift, but make sure you bring only one car and either cook your own food or eat out at restaurants not located in the Village.

Yelp
Wow.. all the stores have the correct Covid warning signs. They just clearly do not follow their own rules. They do not enforce them at all. Masks seem to be 100% optional as they clearly enforce nothing in any of the stores in the village.. Every store we walked into had many people in them with out masks.. To say we felt very uncomfortable would be an understatement. Given the fact that this new variant of Covid is exploding you would think they would be more vigorous about masking up. All the stuff we saw all Over the web site about having to wear masks in all public spaces and enhanced cleaning appears to be lip service . We witnessed nothing except some people masking and many not. Never witnessed anyone cleaning any public area..
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
You need somewhere to stay during a family trip to mammoth this is the place. It offers great hotel rooms more like suites and the ambient is amazing.
google avatar

Jim G.

Yelp
Nice place. Very clean. Try to get a room somewhat close to the elevator. Elevator is at one end of building complex so if you are like us it was a difficult walk for our disabled person. Try to get a room on the 4th level. When the resturants are having outside music it is quite loud. They do stop at 10 so that is a blessing. Bathub/shower has a very high lip so difficult/unsafe to step into. No handles for assistance. Would/will stay her again.

Sean L.

Yelp
Katie at the front desk is soooooo AWESOME!!! Friends and family were so challenged with our reservation, and Katie totally fixed it and they are so happy - she MADE our trip!
google avatar

Chelsea S.

Yelp
Gorgeous! Clean! Everything is all right here! Love that you have your own little kitchenette! It's perfect!
google avatar

Jimmy N.

Yelp
We look forward to the Village at Mammoth every year. The ambiance is great and the kids love to run around and then hang out by the fire during the winter season. Restaurants and shopping is great and we're looking forward to the Voltaggio bros new restaurant in a couple months. Take in the live band and tree lighting during Thanksgiving. Great place.

Da'Pooh S.

Yelp
Booking through five star lodging is not the same as booking through The Village directly. Look at these fines! There's no bedding on the beds, and they told us to bring our own blankets. If I had booked through the The village directly this wouldn't be the case. The village rooms have bedding and they don't have this list of fines! And look what happens if you open their bedding, which they keep stored in the closet so you have no closet space.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
I was happy to see all the signage saying masks required as you enter the village.... and most people are wearing masks and making an effort to keep others safe. But once inside the village you notice no one is enforcing or reminding people, so many people take off their mask or wear it on their chin. These same people also make no effort to stay socially distant so I found I had to work really hard to avoid them. All it would take is a few security people to remind people about mask rule. They use security people here all the time when having events. Hopefully they will step up their game and do a little more to help keep people safe and in turn help local businesses be able to stay open and not have to shut down.

Yelp
If you are staying here, you will be paying a lot. Resort pricing at its finest. The condo/hotel is nice and much more modern than the inn. Very convenient to walk to the gondola and get to canyon. Having all the restaurants and bars within walking distance is also very nice. But...just like the mammoth mountain inn, the mattresses are horrible. I'm in my mid-40's and have a strong back, but one night on those beds, and I feel like someone in their 70's that worked manual labor their entire life.

Jesus C.

Yelp
The parking here is ridiculous. I parked at the Mammoth brewery which wasn't packed to begin with, went to the brewery and purchased drinks and a growler. Only to find out that unless you're physically staying at the brewery the whole time you cannot park there. Amazing right? Then we go across the street to the Village parking to be greeted by a "parking attendant" and when asked about parking he says "yeah pay at one of the kiosks". We walk around for a little bit and pay at the kiosk. Cool $5 whatever. We get to the car and there's a parking ticket for $35 bucks lol. Yeah ok come find me because I'm not paying that after I just paid for parking. Ya'll don't know how to answer phone calls either because I have no idea what "pay at the meter and mail to above address" means, what meter!? Lmao. This place reminds me of when I was in the military and the stores right outside the base charge ridiculous amounts of money to take advantage of people. The scenery is nice but the people are very rude and absolutely no help. And fix your automated phone bots.

Yelp
At night, it's a nicely lit shopping and dining spot that is expected from a ski resort destination. My fiancé and I arrived around 6:30 pm with no appetite yet and just wanted to walk around first. You can get Mammoth souvenirs like the signature #mammothbeanie and other winter gear. There are familiar chain spots like a Ben & Jerry's and Starbucks. We eventually couldn't resist the smell of the BBQ and ended up at Smokeyard for dinner. In case you want small bites or drinks, some places offered happy hour. Since my hotel wasn't nearby The Village, no store or restaurant really captured my attention enough to make a second visit to the Village.

Kate M.

Yelp
Staff here was so welcoming, especially Adrian at the front desk. I called to inform him that one of the TVs was broken by the renters before. I was not upset and wanted to notify them as to not get charged. He went above and beyond searching for a replacement tv. Realizing there was no spare tv available, he had a room ready for us. This all took place in less than 10 minutes. He was very personable and so sweet. If this isn't welcoming, I don't know what is. Thank you so much Adrian!! This resort is absolutely gorgeous! We will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Yonnie C.

Yelp
So great that this is right across the street from the Westin Monache Resort! Convenient location with plenty of eateries and a shopping destination too. We tried Pita Pit & bought ingredients to make s'mores from the General Store.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
One of our favorite parts of coming to Mammoth is stopping by the village. Each year it seems that the shops close earlier and earlier during mid-week. Not to mention that their store selection is meh. Yes you have a Starbucks! That's awesome....wait it closes at 6pm on a Tuesday evening?!? What's the point of having one? Like I said....we love stopping by the village, but it's now at the point to where it's not worth it. OHHHH except for the games! They have giant Jenga, ping pong and cornhole....so there's that.

Minjeong K.

Yelp
Visited over Labor Day weekend 2022. Temp reached a high of 85 degrees. Had a 2nd floor room in White Mountain bldg - room windows facing the Village. We had 4 items that made our visit sub-par. (1) No Centralized AC cooling the rooms. We had a portable AC unit. However, the unit would provide cool air for ~5 mins, then warm air (hotter than the room) for 25 mins. So in the end, the portable AC provided a net warming of room. (2) We weren't able to fully use windows. As much as we would have loved to leave the windows wide open while we were out/sleeping to provide some cooler outside air, our windows were accessible (via a common access-way) from other guests and also from any customers of the Village. (3) Window blinds did not block the outside Village lighting when sleeping. Even with the horizontal blinds completely closed, light from the outside still illuminated the room. The Village lights eventually turned off ~3am. (4) Folks were still yelling and smoking (weed) in the Village after 10pm. This probably would not have been an issue had the AC been working. However, since the rooms were uncomfortably warm/hot due to the lack of working AC, we had to crack open the window to sleep. Unfortunately we heard the drunk crowd yelling until 1am each night, along with the smell of weed. 2 recommendations - fix AC and update blinds. Location/staff are great - facilities need an update, especially with the rates we paid.

Yelp
The Village at Mammoth is a small commercial and residential village (condos and overnight accommodations). It's reminiscent of many mountain ski villages. It's here where you can catch the gondola up to the top of the mountain ... where, in the summer, it looks like Mars (even though I've never been to Mars). Retail shops (boutique and tourist), ski and board rental, fast(ish) food, and restaurants. A great setting at the base of the mountain and clean fresh air. The summertime offers many events within the Village and we were there on the day of the VillageFest and the Chicken & Rib Cook-off. http://villageatmammoth.com/events A great place to visit for a day (at least part). Not a place we'd want to stay overnight, a tad too commercial and not enough "to do" (we aren't snow bunnies/bunners) other than eat, shop, and drink ... maybe that is enough to do. Parking can suck but if you get into the Village in the morning, the large pay lot isn't too bad (and reasonable .. I think we prepaid $10 for 6hrs).

Rylee N.

Yelp
The Village At Mammoth is home to little restaurants, bars, Starbucks, Ben and Jerry's, a child daycare, a Mammoth gift shop, some shops, and the gondola that takes you up to the top of the mountain. **Parking might be your only issue- if you didn't take the bus or walk, there are minimal parking spots on the street-I'd say less than 15 spots and I believe it's times parking.** It's really really nice here because they have lots of spots to sit, there are games outside for kids, music is playing, pets are welcome, and it's just pretty. There's even a bus that takes you here from some of the condos that are close by and it picks you up from the village and takes you back to your place. There's a bus schedule posted up in a few spots around the village so you can get free rides around (which who doesn't love that?) I also love the gondola! Snowboarders and skiers take the gondola up to get to the lifts but anyone can take it up for free and enjoy the ride. At the bottom near the gondola, there are lockers where you can store your equipment for the day or even overnight. All and all, definitely a place to stop while you're visiting.

Yelp
We enjoy coming here at least two times a year, but what we've noticed is this "smoke free" area is full of smokers walking around. The smell, in my opinion ruins it for everyone (especially families with small children like us). Smokers need to be courteous and leave the area to a designated smoking area. Also, if walking around in smoke wasn't bad enough, the cigarette smoke billowing up into our room from the village below was terrible. All in all a great location, just need the smoking issue worked on, as it claims to be a smoke free resort.

Yelp
The Village is a great concept of having shops, restaurants, and luxury hotel all together in a picturesque mountain village theme. Ski in, ski out is perfect. However, there is one trashy dive bar that stands out. A tiki bar thing that is open until 2am EVERY night and play their music extremely loud. Drunk people making out or fighting until 2 is just ridiculous. Our room was close by and there was no sleep to be had in our family. I can't believe the village HOA allows this place to be there and bring them down like this. People who pay a lot of money to come ski and stay at the hotel can't sleep, while locals get their drink on. Not family friendly in this regard. Kick them out or inforce a earlier quiet time than 2am. Will not be staying there again.
google avatar

Dani S.

Yelp
A great place to spend time when in Mammy! There's a variety of restaurants, shops to visit inside the village complex. In the center, a huge firepit is always lit and inviting to sit and relax. Many events are also held here. For all the non-riders out there who are kind enough to accompany their friends up the mountain, this is a must-stop. Have fun!
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
My second visit here and still love it! The accommodations are great and so is the location! Close to the lifts and Mammoth bike park. They even have shops, restaurants, and a swimming pool in the Village! Highly recommend staying in the Village when at Mammoth.
google avatar

Eric N.

Yelp
I did not get to spend a whole lot of time in The Village while I was in Mammoth this last weekend but what time I did spend in it I was really impressed. It is a wonderful public area for those who are staying right there in the immediate area or people who just want to stop by and do some shopping or dining. In an area when companies usually cheap out and build shopping centers cheaply it is nice to see some time and money put in to something like this. The parking can get a little horrible so if you are not staying in walking distance then take the bus. Save yourself some hassle. If you are spending time in Mammoth I would highly recommend spending some time in The Village. :0)

Yelp
One of the problems the internet has introduced is that in this electronic village, all the village idiots have internet access -- Peter Nelson And most of the Village Idiots do seem to congregate at Mammoth Village :) But my son and I still had fun after dinner at Petra's. We listened to a decent bar band play Top 40 songs...we ordered ice cream at Ben N Jerry's...we played Ping Pong on the table tennis set-up outside (Damn you for beating me again!)...we graciously gave up our table to a bunch of Village Idiot spawn...we sat and people watched while we finished our ice cream...I then bought milk and orange juice at the organic market for breakfast in the morning. Glad we did not stay here, and too touristy, but it is fun to come over a few times when staying in the area.
google avatar

Nic Z.

Yelp
I love the Village. In the winter, it's a snowy wonderland with the gondola running to and from Canyon. Come summer, it's so empty and bare that it's almost eerie, but it's actually nice - The fire pit is left going, so you can grab a coffee and sit around with some friends, and they even screen movies there. There are plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants to keep you occupied, and parking is available (but it's Mammoth; most people walk or take the trolley). Now that the city's bankrupt, I'm not sure what will stay and what will change, but it was great while it lasted.
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
This is for the clothing shop below the gondolas FYI, if you're staying in the nearby resort that they are partnered with you get a 10% discount. They don't tell you this but I will heard one of the supervisors speaking to one of the underlings and I was staying at the Westin so I said where's my 10% o yeah sure. That's why they get three Stars they should be letting people know this with a sign!

Yelp
Passed by the VILLAGE every day on the bus on my to the slopes, and always wonder what's in there. So I finally decide to visit it on my last day at Mammoth. It's nice and new, but most stores were closed by the time I got there on a Saturday night. There are several restaurants available, but the lines are super long. Probably not the best idea if you are starving or dining with a large group. During the winter times, there are free buses that would take you around time. The VILLAGE is where you can connect with other bus lines to different lodges. For those of you that are wants to go to CANYON LODGE, you can also park at the village and take the gondola up. However... Please take note that there is very limited parking spots at the Village. So driving there is probably not a good idea. If you are visiting Mammoth, just do what everyone does. Hop on the bus and make your life easier.

Yelp
Staying at the Chamonix condos right by the Canyon Lodge at Mammoth resort, I was just a quick gondola ride away from the Mammoth Village area, and on sunday my body decided it had enough of the slopes so I took the time to check out the Mammoth village and sightsee. Basically this is a cute little resort/dining area for guests of the resort who don't want to have to drive into town to eat/drink or shop. There's a charming array of small restaurants devoid any of the usual fast food places to cheapen it, the only chain business being Starbucks. There are a couple different bar & grills, several ski shops, a general store for general shopping needs, and the Mammoth Brew Co tasting room across the street from the village, as well as Whiskey Creek sports bar a walk down the street. A nice place to spend the afternoon or a lunch/dinner option if you dont want to drive or cook at your cabin.

Yelp
Cute little village. Not much to do. It ends in about 30 feet of walking. Its probably because im used to the size of whistler village in BC. The free gondola ride is cool. However up there, there is no place to take a nice picture of the cool view. Its better for children i would say. Mammoth its-self is fun!!

Yelp
Upon check-in we actually got an upgrade from a one-bedroom to a two-bedroom! That's a plus. This place is a mountain lodge-type hotel, so keep in mind that your expectations should be for something along that category. Overall, the general upkeep of the house looks nice and has a true presence, however it could use a little face lift. Nothing major, but the shower heads don't function out of all the facets and this could be due to hard water. The carpets also have a little musty odor, but that's to be expected in cold, wet climates. They customer service department was awesome and quick to offer help and suggestions. The location is also unparalleled with its close proximity to lifts. It also has it's own mini village with shops and restaurants. The main downside and the only reason that they're not receiving a 5 is because of the night-time noise level. The walls are pretty thin and you can here everyone in the hallway, but even more annoyingly, you can here people in the streets. Between 1am to 3 am you can here everyone leaving the bars. There were several drunken fights that repeatedly woke us up. I feel like the village security could have done something to usher people along or maybe call the police. It sounded like somebody may have died last night. (I should add that we stayed here over the weekend. Weekday nights may be quieter.)

Yelp
The Village is a great concept for Mammoth. A nice little community with a central meeting/eating/shopping area. Plus, the gondola that takes you to the main lodge is a major bonus to avoid buses/parking. The last time I was in Mammoth the Village was merely a concept. It's great to see what a successful community model this has become. It's got a real resort feel.

Yelp
We stayed at the village hotel room 3418. The room is run down - broken fridge, broken toilet, broken beds, broken screens... we asked for assistance, the guy said that the fridge will be ok and the water dripping will stop, it never did. The concierge is no help whatsoever. I gave it two stars for its location otherwise it is not worth the money.

Yelp
Very cute! It's nice during the day because the Gondola takes you straight from the Village to the base of the Canyon Lodge ski area. It's incredibly convenient. I stayed at one of the lodges adjacent to the Village and I'm glad I did. At night, we walked around and checked out some of the restaurants on this strip. We did a little shopping, and grabbed some dessert. It's pretty small, but has a warm feel. Sometimes they have a DJ spinning, which is kind of cool. One of the tables also has a giant Jenga. How can you beat that?
