This place is just amazing. I order the Italian Sandwich and The Chicken Bacon Avocado and let me tell you, they did not disappoint. The vegetables are very FRESH!! The meats are very good, very good quality. I will 100% keep ordering from this place, I absolutely prefer this small business to subway any day. 10/10 recommendations. 🫶🏼😁 Definitely worth supporting. 🤙🏼

The pastrami bfast burrito was amazing! The tater tots do a great job of soaking up flavor, each bite is meaty and delicious. The tortilla is asmr crispy and the sauce was fire.

I will forever be a person that supports the locals and this place is for sure and extension of just that. A gem located on the out skirts of LA on Soto Street that will not let you down with their food. A very simple yet extensive menu that will for sure leave your belly full and satisfied. A place where the coffee is strong and delicious and the sandwiches are fresh and feeling. So please stop by grab some lunch and maybe a ceviche cup to go and don't forget the iced latte grab a seat outside and enjoy your meal. Kudos to the staff for a job well done.

This is a great little combination store, cafe, and grill with a chill vibe and cool atmosphere. The iced lattes are delicious with a large array of flavors to choose from or even better mix and match. The sandwiches and burritos are prepared on the outdoor grill and are delicious and filling. I tried the pastrami burrito and it was delicious. There is loud music playing and most of the seats are outdoors on a patio next to the grill giving the place a backyard party atmosphere - not quiet and peaceful, but festive and fun. The service is great. Everyone there is relaxed and friendly.

Basic menu, BUT SUPER FRESH and DELICIOUS! Love that they carry the boars head deli. I’m not a coffee person, but the coffee was surprisingly reallllllly goood. I had the strawberry latte, and I think about it ever since I’ve had it.

Love a good deli!! Great selection of sandwiches (very generously sized and reasonably priced) and friendly service. I had a simple but delicious BLT, a refreshing order of ceviche, and crispy onion rings. Delicious iced vanilla latte. I put in a big order (6 sandwiches in total as well as sides and drinks) and it was ready relatively quickly. Will definitely return.

It's a nice place but the price is a little too steep $14. for a turkey Sandwich combo /combination of meats. The bread was soft for being toasted but I thought the combo would come with a side of potato salad and half a pickle. Something to make me want to come back. Customer service was friendly but they needed to inform the customer they were only getting combo meats. Great place if you don't mind paying 14 bucks for a sandwich.

Village Mart & Cafe is one of those hidden gems you stumble upon and then never stop recommending. Tucked away in what feels like the middle of nowhere, I found this place by accident--and I'm so glad I did! Their chicken pesto sandwich is my go-to. It's made with perfectly grilled chicken, fresh pesto, melted cheese, and served on a soft ciabatta roll. It's honestly one of the best sandwiches I've had, and I crave it often. Just make sure to come while the grill is open, usually between 11 AM and 2 PM, or you'll miss out. They also have an incredible drink selection--everything from beer and soda to teas, juices, and even mushroom-based drinks. Their fridge is packed with options and always well-stocked. While I've only had the chicken pesto, my co-workers have tried a variety of items like the burgers, tuna sandwich, and chicken salad--and I've never heard a single complaint. Everyone who's gone based on my recommendation has left happy. Prices are maybe slightly above average, but it's worth every penny for the quality and variety, especially considering there aren't many other decent food options in the area (unless you're grabbing from a street vendor by the hospital). If you're nearby and the grill is on, this spot is absolutely worth the detour. Highly recommend!

Date: June 24, 2025 Went down to meet a friend and her son at the ascot hills to hike with my kiddos and she mentioned this cafe after we finished. Stopped by around noon and it wasn't too crazy. They have all outdoor patio seating and then two tables inside. They have a variety of things to order from soups, salads to sandwiches and drinks. They also have a small kids meal menu and snacks / candy all along the counter to purchase. They have a full drinks fridges in the back with alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. I ordered a chicken tenders w/ fries meal (6.99$) for my kids. It comes with two tenders and a basket of fries. Fries were plain and oily but tenders weren't too bad. I also got a large matcha latte (7$). Matcha was alright. Little sweet which was nice but just average matcha. The vibes were nice though. Very relaxing and waitresses were all super chill. They do the cooking outside which was pretty cool. I saw a couple people getting work done on laptops so definitely a nice place to chill. Thanks for a great first visit! Sadly was too occupied with my kiddos to get any photos.

The other day I was starving and finally gave this place a serious sit down. I am delighted to report that their italian sandwich on toasted ciabatta bread was crunchy, savory, and satisfying. I've definitely eaten here before but given where it is, I don't get the chance to make it out often. The community definitely is better having something like this, and I'm grateful I have some small part in showing others where to fill their bellies with good food. Cheers!

The Jalapeno and Cheese Bagel with lox, cream cheese, red onion, and capers was perfect! It was made to order quickly, and the cafe's interior was a pleasant place in which to wait for it.

I was really excited by the exterior and interior of this place. Apparently the only thing the don't have is content This sandwich for $12 is embarrassing, and even worse cheap beyond cheap. What's the over under I could make 10 for this price?

I was searching for a cafe in the El Sereno community to have a meeting on a weekday afternoon, and found several options. I asked the person who we were meeting with to select which location would be most convenient for him, and he selected The Village Mart & Deli. Although we had never been there before, we were happy to give it a try. It was a sweltering hot Los Angeles day, so I was also worried about whether there would be seating inside the cafe. It worked out really well and we were able to sit inside---it was nice and comfortable, not too crowded. Ambience was great! I had the Cali Sandwich (chicken salad) - Diced grilled chicken with bacon bits, mayo, celery, green onion with leaf lettuce, avocado and Coney Island mustard. It was great! Fresh, flavorful, and really hit the spot. JJ got the Tuna Salad Sandwich, which is one of his favorites, and he really loved it. We shared a large bag of Kettle BBQ chips, which made a great late lunch. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall, it was a great and comfortable place to have a meeting while having a bite to eat. Parking is plentiful. JJ chatted with the owner--very community oriented business. Great to support family owned businesses, and we look forward to going back to try some of their other menu items.

Their cold brew is legit for this gal who drinks espresso over ice. Menu is great and the service is excellent. Don't drive by like I did 20 times before stopping. Get here.

What a Hidden Gem. My wife and I tried a breakfast burrito & turkey sandwich. Fantastic !!!. I had a coffee which was excellent. Great Food. Lot's of tasty choices. 4 Thumbs Up.

I've been meaning to check this place out for years. And I mean since even before they remodeled. I finally did and it was ok. Everything was wonderful except the sandwich. They have a good selection of drinks and chips and snacks, the girl at the counter was absolutely lovely, the strawberry matcha was awesome and I didint even wait long for my sandwich. I ordered The Cali Sandwich and found it to be extremely salty because of the bacon. It threw the whole thing off for me which was a bummer because I was excited to try a new sub. I will say I do plan on coming back just because everything was great and they do have a pretty good selection of subs, hopefully it doesn't take years this time.

One of my favorite local joints when I'm in the area. A great sando spot!! Chicken pesto on ciabatta bread is one of my favs‍. The grill staff make some great burgers and super nice. I love their breakfast burritos and ceviche tostadas!! They have a great selection of sodas, coffee, juices, beers, and Agua Frescas. They have a great variety of food options with a decent price point, and the staff (Izzy and Reenie) are always friendly and welcoming! The spot also has live bands and craft vendors for various community events. It's always a real cool mellow spot to hangout and get great food!

I've been coming here for years and I have to say they keep getting better and better! I'm obsessed with their angus burger!! That thing hits the spot! Accompanied by a side of onion rings! Just know you'll be heavily satisfied! Just recently tried their chicken pesto sandwich too! That hit as well! You can never go wrong with coming here. The owners and workers treat you like family and make sure that you're satisfied at all times.

This is a GEM. Plants, lights, good food and good vibes. You order and the servers bring your food out to you. There is a small wooden table on the inside for four, and lots of seating on the patio. Wife had the chicken tortilla soup (comes with bread) and a lime-cucumber-chia "agua fresca." I had a grilled chicken lettuce wrap, with grilled chicken breast, roasted red bell pepper and an aioli garlic spread...it was the BOMB. We had gone there for my daughter to take her SAT, and (making a wrong turn) followed the street down from Woodrow Wilson H.S. It was a surprise. They close a little early, so check out their website...it would be worth your trip. David was a gracious host, checked on us, and gave a history of the building. Thanks David. Looking forward to making a wrong turn again and ending up the right place.

This place is a hidden gem! It is a small place but seating and parking are great. Their sandwiches are delightful and their aguas frescas are very flavorful. They also offer over the counter snacks and drinks, like a tiendita. Oh and their coffee cake is the best I've had since my school years. The staff is very nice and quick to help. It is a relaxing place to go to and have a quick lunch

More like 3.5 stars Situated on a lonely corner on Soto between Huntington & the 10 freeway The Village Mart & Deli is a charming place to grab breakfast and lunch; they also apparently have some sort of happy hour but I think they close at 6pm. Food is fresh, tasty, and a bit on the pricy side, but everything is these days. They're also a bit slow in preparing your order, so relax on the patio and dig the music while you wait. They also have beer & wine available. Nice spot.

I ordered online from The Village Mart & Deli for a weekend picnic I was planning with my boyfriend. The plan was to have sandwiches, and this was just the perfect place to get great coffee and delicious sandwiches! They host their online ordering system on Clover here, and its quick and easy to use! I definitely recommend. I placed my order the night before and our order was ready for pick-up when I arrived at the restaurant - right on time! Everyone was super nice and greeted my boyfriend and I. We definitely want to come back here for a sit-down breakfast or brunch! I ordered a BLT Sandwich on Toasted Croissant $11.75, Chicken Pesto Sandwich $14.25, Potato Salad $4.50, and two hot coffees. My favorite was the Chicken Pesto Sandwich, it had a great pesto flavor and the sundried tomatoes in it were perfect. It may have changed the way I make sandwiches at home now - the sun dried tomatoes are a brilliant idea! The BLT sandwich in a croissant was delicious as well - my boyfriend's favorite actually! The croissant was buttery and flaky just as expected and they packed it with lots of bacon! My Oat Milk Latte w/ a little sweetener was made perfectly as well. Just the right amount of sweetener and the taste was just how I like it! Special thanks to The Village Mart & Deli for such a great to-go experience. Our picnic was 100% better with your food and coffee as the star of the show. I can't wait to come back for a dine-in experience next time!

I've lived in the area for three years and I looooooove this place! Always there for the community, the service is always nothing but smiles and love, the food is delicious, the extra snacks and goodies they have inside are great. This patio is nicely shaded and there's lots of seating available. I'm moving next week, but my partner and I won't ever stop coming here for a chill meal. They never fail us here. I had high hopes since I grew up in the area and the revival of the store was in full swing. Grubhub order: Turkey & ham sandwich around $13. Bread felt old, like it was out all night and not covered properly. The bread just fell apart. My 12 yr old could've made a better sandwich. Clam chowder was ok. No utensils. Might give this place another try, but leaning towards might not.

This place is a freaking VIBE. I've always lived in the area and passed by, but never stopped in. I had some work to do today, so I stopped in. The staff was sooooo nice, my sandwich was bomb and the vibe was so chill and so friendly. Will def be my new spot to hang out and do some work and get a quick bite! Also the pickles in my sandwich were Fire!!!!!

I see a lot of good reviews but went to get some baked goods for breakfast in my hotel and some cut up fruit. I only got regular stuff I could have bought at Safeway and there was no cut-up fruit at all. We looked around at the rest of the store and while we had high expectations we walked out pretty fast with nothing

After an easy hike at the Ascot trails / park just a 5 minute walk from this corner spot, my friend and I decided to check out this place, which we liked! Ambience 5/5 : chill and casual, love how relaxed it is! :) - lots of seating outside - you can be in the sun or not - pet friendly!! Staff 5/5 : super friendly -- they all seem like one typical family working together, laughing and yelling from kitchen to front -- love it! - they will bring your food out to you if you're seated outside - drinks didn't take too long of a wait - 5-6 mins even as it was busy Food / Drinks 4/5 : Plenty of options for sandwiches and breads - and lots of coffee flavor choices too - loved the 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 soup special but wished the soup wasn't so tiny - had the broccoli cheddar soup - yummy - tuna sandwich was tasty - Pineapple spinach drink was delicious (but there's prob lots of sugar) - coffee - too sweet O_O so when you get any of the flavored ones just ask for extra cup of ice or less heavy of the syrups they add Restrooms : - available via key and lock in the side of the lot - CLEAN! I can eat a sandwich for breakfast lunch and dinner. I walked in not knowing what to order, as I've only ever been here one other time. There is plenty of parking. Espresso by Sabrina carpenter was playing so the vibes were vibing.The cashier (should've asked her name) was very nice and informative! I really did not know what to get so she recommended be the chicken bacon avocado sandwich hot on sourdough. It was so delicious I savored every bite and couldn't get enough. The pickles tied everything together beautifully. CHEFS KISS, forgot to mention very dog friendly!

They were closed and seen how distraught I was holding My baby, looking for food (on foot) during a graduation ceremony and she let me in, bought a sandwhich for me and let me purchase a Gatorade!! I had a meeting across the street and decided to go to The Village to get lunch. Because there were so many of us who decided to get lunch from there, the line was long. The staff there were quick to fill the orders and were friendly in doing so. I ordered a turkey sandwich which was very good, tasted fresh, and was worth the wait. I recommend getting food from The Village.

Being a local I love supporting my community. With that being said, I'll start off with the food. Food is great! It's all freshly made. I'm specifically a fan of their breakfast sandwiches! I also love getting their matcha drink with vanilla syrup! Delicious. Can't go wrong with that! Perfect for after Saturday morning hikes! As far for prices: it can be a little bit on the higher side but it's okay to treat yourself once in a while. Service: I don't know if maybe I've come at the wrong times but there's an older lady who has a strong character. Not sure if that's just her personality but it can come off as brusque. Other than that the other times I've come - everyone else has been nice!

This place is a hidden gem! I tried the smash Burger and fries and it was devastating! One of the best burgers I've had! And I don't mess around with burgers. I'm a burger snob. Better than most Instagram famous spots. So much flavor! Fries were good too. My friend had the Chicken Bacon Avocado Sandwich and said it was delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more stuff.

Nice deli and small market that's very easy to miss. I came here for lunch on a Friday around 1ish pm. There were other people ordering sandwiches but it wasn't super packed. I ended up ordering the Salsalito sandwich. It had spicy Turkey, chipotle mayo, cheese, lettuce, onions, and pickles on wheat bread. You can choose what type of bread you want. The sandwich was pretty good but not as flavorful as I imaged it would be. I like in my mind I thought it would have more onions or even more spice. There was a good amount of spice thought and the sandwich still had good flavor. It was $10.75 total. The people working there were really friendly and seemed to have a good connection with their other customers. There's plenty of outdoor seating and chips, drinks, snacks, etc. To choose from. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Princess cake is and was a masterpiece taste. Employees were super helpful and friendly. Will be placing my birthday cake order from them. It's a cozy little place, not ideal if you plan to sit and enjoy your desserts.

This is a great café! I worked here all day and enjoyed the food. The Wi-Fi was also good enough to connect and check emails. The service was also really amazing and they have tons of menu options. Highly recommend if you're in the neighborhood and can walk over. This business is also very community driven which I appreciate it. They have local events and make sure to connect with their customers. Check it out!

What a hidden gem! I hike at a trail close by and have always seen this place but never stopped by. I was hungry and thirsty after hiking so I decided to give them a try. The warm Cali weather was also on point today so it was nice to see they had a large patio area. I ordered the Baja tuna sandwich and a cucumber agua fresca. The friendly cashier said the Baja is a customer favorite so I thought I'd try it out and I am so glad I did! It had a slight kick with the jalapeño and was so flavorful. The agua fresca was also reasonably priced at $6 for the large size. They also had a grill area in the patio for hot sandwiches so I look forward to trying that next time. Overall I'm so happy I stopped by today and my stomach left happy. If you're in the neighborhood, you should definitely give them a try while the weather is still beautiful out.
