Where to Find Shimmering Cocktails Around D.C. | Eater DC

"The eye-catching “Why Not, It’s a Holiday” cocktail ($17) at the bar of the newly revamped Washington Marriott Georgetown features mezcal, Cointreau, chartreuse, fresh lime and lemon juice with a yellow pearl shimmer dust. It’s garnished with a hydrated lime wheel cured in red wine and available for a short time only at the bar through the holidays." - Tierney Plumb

Bartender Sam was lovely as were the other guests that I was joined by. Pleasant small talk while I enjoyed a glass of wine and the cheesecake. Happy to sit and relax here anytime I stay at the Marriott Georgetown.

Overpriced Food! We came to this restaurant for dinner during our Washington DC Trip. It is located in the lobby of the Marriott Hotel. We were sat promptly & our server was really nice and attentive. The atmosphere was nice too. The food I ordered was awful & I could not finish it. All our food were overpriced and wasn’t tasty. If I ever return to this place, it would probably be for drinks . Definitely not food.

We arrived about 10:00 p.m. The staff was courteous and accommodating. The menu offering was good. They had different styles of wings and specialty sandwiches. Service was timely and the food was well prepared.

Serves breakfast until 1100am. All American Breakfast with coffee included. They bring a pot to your table. $23 before tax and tip.

Service was top notch, fast and attentive. The old fashion - great! The flatbread seemed like it was in the microwave almost not eatable. Sorry.

I was staying at the Washington Marriott Georgetown and while I really liked my stay at the hotel, I was pretty disappointed by the attached restaurant. Firstly, I was never officially greeted, when I walked toward the bar I was simply handed a menu and told to sit wherever I wanted. When a server came by a few minutes after he simply asked what I was getting (no « hello » or any sort of introduction). The mushroom raviolis were okay thought they were really basking in olive oil and I found them a bit greasy as a result. I also found the price to be a bit steep considering Chef Geoff’s across the street prices their pasta in the 23-27$ range (as opposed to 30$ for The Visiteur). No one ever checked on me during or after my meal nor was I asked if I wanted a desert or anything else. When I got the check, again my waiter kept conversation to the bare minimum and only asked if I wanted my bill charged to my room. No questions about how my meal went and no « thank you » or « goodbye » as I was leaving the restaurant. Overall, the interaction wasn’t rude but it felt quite terse. The atmosphere, however, is quite nice and lively and the wait time for the food was pretty minimal.

My friends and I recently stayed at the Washington Marriott Georgetown and dined at the attached restaurant for several days, taking advantage of the daily dining credits. Unfortunately, our experience was consistently disappointing due to the poor service from a female staff member from Ethiopia. Her attitude was extremely unfriendly, and she seemed solely motivated by money, displaying a consistently sour demeanor throughout our visits. Thankfully, we eventually started being served by another staff member, a young Black man, who provided excellent service and greatly improved our dining experience. It's a shame that one staff member's attitude can overshadow the otherwise pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant. I hope the management addresses this issue to ensure all guests receive the high-quality service they deserve.

Google
Pathetic for $25. This is barely a Lunchable. Worst charcuterie I've ever had.

Yelp
The restaurant in our hotel Marriott Bonvoy in DC. Walking distance from everything!! And it was nice to know that this restaurant was available for us when we would return from our long busy sight seeing day! Food was great, staff was friendly, they were also knowledgeable for letting tourists know great places to visit

Yelp
Food was a bit greasy but good portions. Service was good. A bit pricey but it's a hotel.

Yelp
Great burgers for a hotel. Dropped in here at 11pm and grabbed a late nighter dinner.

Yelp
Could've been good, but people in kitchen / behind scenes lacking common sense. Our server was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. We were a party of three people that came in for a light meal since we'd eaten earlier. Charcuterie board, Humus and Caesar Salad. My wife and I shared the board and humus. Our daughter had the Caesar salad and she liked it. The Charcuterie board could have had better selections and bigger portions. Also, the crackers were stale and tasted old. The humus was really good. The lack of common sense is that you get a big deep bowl of tasty humus and not much pita bread or carrots or celery. This disproportionately was very apparent when it first came out. We ran out of things to dip with half of a bowl of humus still remaining. We politely mentioned to the waiter that we ran out and asked if we could get a little bit more. He went to the kitchen and came back and said that it'd be $4 more, so we didn't do that on principle alone. Unfortunately, this experience could have been easily fixed and it doesn't cost much to bring out a few more veggies and little pita bread wedges. These are inexpensive items to fix and would have made a customer happy. However, instead it makes us unhappy, not wanting to return and now I'm spending energy writing a negative review on Yelp. Is bad press worth $4? This is a restaurant in a Marriott and was not living up to the standards for what I expect. Lack of attention to detail and Penny wise and pound foolish.

Yelp
Hotel priced food but very good. Had same dish as chef geoff or something, on par. I sat at the bar so the bar flies were not extra charge.

Yelp
I was really disappointed with my visit last night. The wait staff are nice but when we ordered hummus and two burgers we quickly found out no sweet potato fries. BOO. Our burgers arrived and the regular fries were very over cooked and they forgot our hummus. He said he would be right back and then said the chef had to go get fresh bread from the second floor. So the dude forgot to put the appetizer order in and our food was already there so we said forget the hummus. I'm not expecting perfection however I basically didn't get two items I wanted. The burger was fine. Good but for 18 dollars I would have been better off going to five guys.

Yelp
Located inside the Washington Marriott Georgetown. First time here, we ordered the recommended entrees, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes (Chef Choice) & Lomo Saltado. Jumbo Lump crab cakes were served with corn purée & a side of sautéed garlic spinach. Lomo Saltado is Peruvian-style stir-fried, grilled NY strip with onions, green peppers, tomatoes, fries & rice. All very very delicious!

Yelp
Exhausted after a very long day. We were looking for some place close to eat because it was raining heavily so we found this restaurant on Yelp. I'm normally skeptical of hotel restaurants as they can be hit or miss. This was a hit! Daryn was our server and was friendly and efficient. We order crab chowder and the meatballs as an appetizer. The chowder was tasty but a little salty. The meatballs tasted good as well but we're almost like hamburger patties because they were a lot more dense than your usual meatballs. For entrees we order the Avocado toast, the burger, and the crab cake sandwich. All three were excellent! The crab cake had almost no filler and was lump crab. That was my favorite item. My daughter had tiramisu for desert. Tasted great but could have used more espresso/coffee in the lady fingers. They barely had any in them. Price wise it was a little expensive but you are in DC. I felt everything was fairly priced except the meatballs which were strap at $16 for 3.

Yelp
I was having a lazy day and ordered the blacken burger. Service was great but the burger was very plain and smelled of fish.

Yelp
Pretty solid restaurant with a little too open air (to the lobby) feel. The goat cheese board was splendid with three types of cheese of decent size, texture and flavor. Accompanying the cheeses were some decent pieces of charcuterie. The kale salad has fried pieces of parmesan cheese and carrots. I had one of the shrimp tacos which is a must try. Patient waiter who served three long time friends who were trying to catch up. The atmosphere is that of a hotel lobby so it leaves a lot to be desired.

Yelp
For a late night bite or if you just don't feel like leaving the lovely Marriott hotel, the Visiteur is a nice option. Their small menu (it was late) offered a good amount of variety. There is plenty of seating - community tables, private tables, lounge area - that can accommodate your need to work, visit or just relax. The staff is friendly and attentive and I like that the chef brought me my meal - made me feel special. While there are many restaurant alternatives in the area, sometimes it's nice to have a good option a few steps away.

Yelp
My husband and I had a late dinner at The Visiteur and very much enjoyed our meals. My husband had Steak Frites--his steak was very tender and the chimichurri sauce was perfect. I had the Baby Candied Striped Beet Salad--the presentation was lovely, especially the visual contrast between the locally sourced goat cheese medallions and the different types of beets. I also had the sweet potato jalapeño bites. The sprinkling of salt and salty bacon, mixed with the sweet of the potatoes and the speck of jalapeño hit all the best flavors. There was a lot of food. Neither of us were able to finish our meals. Our server was very attentive, but not overly so. He kept an eye on us and stayed out of the way, but was there when we needed him. Our check out was quick and painless. I found the prices to be very reasonable, especially for the obvious quality of the food. I guess the weirdest thing about this restaurant is that it cannot seem to decide if it's a big loud crazy bar or a nice, sit down, have-a-quiet-date place. There's a loud, huge screen TV right in the middle of things--Loud Bar: +1 There is also nice out-of-the-way seating--Quiet Date: +1. The strangest part about the restaurant is that it's in a big, open area, so if your buddy is checking into the hotel across the big room, you can look over and ask him to join you. The food is great, the service is great, and the restaurant meets socializing needs, regardless of what they might be. I'd definitely go back.

Yelp
I took a chance on this place even though it only has a few reviews, and I was not disappointed. It's set in the Marriott lobby and feels very open and airy. Clean lines, simple aesthetic. (But for you sports fans looking for a hidden spot to catch a game, it also boasts a huge TV). The menu was interesting, and so varied that I had a hard time choosing what I wanted. Tacos? Lomo Saltado? Ooh. Scallops!! Focus, Jean. Focus. I ended up with the barley salad with chicken and thought it was one of the best salads I've had in ages. Then, bc I was still peckish, I got the sweet potato fries, which they served in such a huge portion that the plate hardly looked touched when I gave up and pushed it away. Another plus was the fact that they have a good number of wines by the glass and half glass, which is great for someone who usually just wants a taste with dinner like me. The service gets a special shout out. I found the servers awesome and funny. My dedicated server was Sam, but everyone helped out throughout my time dining at Visiteur. Lastly, I thought the prices were super reasonable to cheap for this level of food and service, but I hail from LA, the mecca of steep prices and awful, rude wannabe actor service, so you should take that into account when reading this bit.

Yelp
The food at the Visiteur was Outstanding!! The Crab Soup and Habanero Wings were so Good! The food over all is well prepared, there are healthy choices on the menu, and it is so tasty. Hats off to the Chef! In addition, the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Great place for lunch and after work. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
With kids after a long long long day, just under our room at the Marriott, amazing food with grand service. Let's talk food: wide menu with lot's of flavor, one of the best restaurant in DC and my god sooooo comfortable. I recommend and chances are your going to be back, i know I'm going to.

Yelp
Good hotel restaurant. Lots of seating. Easy work breakfast, lunch, dinner. Big screens for news (am) or sports (pm).

Yelp
While visiting DC we enjoyed a casual, yet very delicious dinner here. From the District Dog, to the Chef's Perfect Steak Sandwich and The Perfect Mistake Fried Chicken, we were all very happy. And the cornbread was on point. Thanks to our server Bryon for being kind and efficient on this holiday.

Yelp
Great time watching Super Bowl here - food was great. Highly recommend the nacho appetizer and cheese plate. The Lyon Dog was excellent. Service was top notch too.

Yelp
Came here for a late night dinner after a long day of travel. After I sat down at the bar, the manager who happened to be walking by gave me a menu. At the time, there were about 6 other patrons who were almost done with their meals/drinks. After 10 minutes of waiting, I had to ask a wait person who I should order a drink from. He told me the bartender will be over soon. Another 5+ minutes later, the greeting I got was: What do you want to drink? Bartender can't even name the beers on draft. She got me my beer and food was served by a bus person. The next time I heard from the bartender was when I was half done with my beer. She asked me how my meal was and if I am interested in another drink. She did it without looking at my drink. I told her I still have half of my beer. I was handed my bill within a minute of that conversation. Absolutely horrendous service for a hotel restaurant. I get better service at any local pub!
