Review of The Waffle Bus (Visited on July 18, 2025) Our recent visit to The Waffle Bus was nothing short of fantastic. I ordered the Brunch Smasher, and it was an absolute delight—juicy, cooked to perfection, and deserving of a solid 10/10 rating. The option to choose how the egg is cooked adds a nice touch; I went with sunny side up. The waffle fries on the side were crispy and flavorful, rounding off the meal perfectly. My wife chose the Mac Daddy, and in her words, it was "bussin"—everything about it was spot-on. We also shared the Chicken Fryders, a simple yet tasty combination of chicken and waffle fries with a savory sauce that tied it all together. Our friends enjoyed their meals as well, though I can't recall exactly what they ordered. However, I did try their dishes, and they were undeniably delicious. While I'm not a big fan of milkshakes, my friend rated theirs a flawless 10/10. Overall, The Waffle Bus delivered an exceptional dining experience with flavorful dishes and satisfying sides. Highly recommended!

Damn good waffles. I assume this is the original location while the other location is on Alabama St. Compared to the second location, this one does not offer their expanded drink options. This location is also nice. No cashier, you order at a kiosk. This location has more decorated interior. Staff is courteous. This restaurant is a staple of mines in Houston.

During our visit, we decided to try the waffle bus, it was fairly busy but they were able to keep the line moving. Seating is fairly close and open so not exactly the place for intimate or private conversations but it was still very nice and the pick up order window being a bus is a really nice touch. Service was good and the person taking our order was very patient with us. My best friend and I just decided to try some random stuff so we decided on the buttermilk waffle chicken sandwich, chicken thunder fries and a Cinnamon Toast Crunch milkshake. I’m glad we decided to share because everything was really big and a lot! Even splitting everything we still couldn’t finish, so I’d say it’s well worth it! Everything was also very delicious, I would 100% recommend! 10/10 would go again!

Flavor wise the food needs a lot of improvements🤦🏾‍♀️chicken & fries had a weird taste idk if it’s the grease or the breading/seasoning🥴I wouldn’t eat here again 1 & done. Nice decorations though🤷🏾‍♀️

I didn’t know about this place until my son did an order and had it delivered. We were not happy at all! I contacted the restaurant and they said I could come and get 2 free meals to make up from the terrible last ones. The food was really good this round. The manager was nice about it. The only downfall is it took like 20 minutes. When people came in ordered after me and got their food first. Atmosphere was cool just very crowded. I would definitely not eat inside. Orders to go is best.

I ordered a chicken sandwich and wings, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. It was clear the chicken had already been pre-cooked and was simply dropped back into oil when I placed my order. I wondered when was the last time they changed that oil. The chicken was extremely greasy and you could not enjoy any flavor. As a result, both the sandwich and wings were incredibly dry and overcooked, with a burned taste that overpowered everything else. I was expecting fresh, flavorful food, but this fell far short of that. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for quality or care in preparation. Give your self a favor and don’t go here. Won’t be back.

a littleee overrated. the waffles were room temperature and they didn’t have any sugar free syrup which isn’t inclusive for those who have dietary restrictions but still wanna eat out. my girlfriend is a type one diabetic and had to eat her food without syrup which kinda takes away the fun. the chicken was honestly so good though and the food was aesthetically pleasing.

this place was great my bf loved it. Mac and cheese and the waffle fries were very flavor full and delicious. the waffles weren't really my style but everyone else in my party loved it. the service was great pretty fast didn't take that long at all. workers were nice .

Ordered around 8pm on a Monday night for take out. We picked up the order right as it was ready and by the time we got home fries and food was luke warm/ cold. Overall I would go back and try again, but I think everything taste like a knockoff they all taste good, but I wouldn't bring an out of towner there. Burger on Brioche bun: tastes like Whataburger Chicken on Waffle: Waffle taste fine, kind of like Waffle House, but not as good Chicken Tender: tastes like Canes/Laynes/Zaxbys Biscuit: Best thing we ate. It slaps, I want to try the biscuits and gravy.

The food was cold. Sauces and gravy were separated. Ordering is on this iPad system that makes 0 sense. Staff won't help you if you don't understand how to use it. Inside looked like they got some stuff off amazon and etsy. Don't go here - would not return - Don't know how they have amazing reviews - something here has changed.

Yum, yum, yum. Wife had a craving for waffle fries and I wanted something sweet. Enter The Waffle Bus into my Yelp search. Y'all, this is some amazing food. Wife got the Hot Mess fries-waffles fries, mac n cheese, chopped chicken tender, pickles, cheese sauce, and spicy mayo. Woah. The waffle fries themselves are worth the visit, hot and fresh, crispy and excellent seasoning. Add everything else, and it is a meal. Yum. I got the Strawberry Irish Creme Brulee. Woooo! They take a freshly made waffle (light and crisp) and coat it in creme boulevard. Then sugar coat and torch until crunchy. Fill it with fresh sliced strawberries and fold into the best sweet breakfast (or any meal) sandwich you've ever experienced. The staff was super friendly and the turn around quick. Go hop aboard The Waffle Bus today.

I always make sure to stop by this specific waffle bus when I'm coming into town from Austin. I really wish we had one here but 3 hours away is also fine. My order is always the hot chicken thunder fries with extra sauce. If I feel the sweet tooth creep up, I get the milk and cereal ice cream (cinnamon toast crunch) COME TO AUSTIN, TX WAFFLE BUS!!

What a great experience! I saw Keith Lee review this place and this was on my bucket list for Houston. I decided to try the MacDaddy Biscuit. I didn't want the Mac n cheese but I was glad that they offered an option to put it on the side. They really should have just done a regular yellow cheese, it was not good at all and very disappointing. The very reason why I do not choose to order mac & cheese from restaurants. I also ordered the breakfast burger, but I chose to get that on a biscuit as well, I am so glad that I chose to make that customization because it made it feel more like breakfast. The onions were a nice touch the burger, a little bit of a sweet taste to it overall it was very scrumptious. I definitely recommend my only qualm was that the Patty was thin. Lastly, I ordered the small waffle fries. The waffle fries were just generic salted season fry. Nothing extraordinary in my opinion although they did come out really hot and fresh overall, I definitely recommend waffle bus the food was really delicious and I love all the customizations that they allow.

Food was delicious 10/10! I ordered the smash burger, fries and drink lunch combo with no onions, and my lunch date ordered the same but added an over easy egg and bacon to it. Let's just say we smashed our burgers lol. Service... well, it's self-service (I.e., you place your order via kiosk and they call you by name to pick up your food). Not much going on there. Ambiance overall was cool. My boyfriend really liked the decor and thought they were in a good location. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch date with my man at The Waffle Bus.

FIRST REVIEW OF 2024!!! YAYY THINGS HAVE BEEN CRAZY BUT...I enjoyed The Waffle Bus! It's a very casual chill laid back spot to eat. The waffle bus is in a shared parking lot! Parking can be a little slim but still easy! There are plenty of options on the menu! Ordering is silent! In a funny way! You don't order with an employee it's just on the screen! It's less human reaction let's just say! Food is pretty good! The syrup with the waffles was light, sweet & yummy! The wings were at a perfect crisp! I wish I had more but my meal only came with 4 wings! Not to sure if they have like a 6 piece. I'll definitely return! I wouldn't say this place fully pulled me in but it's worth returning to.

What a great burger spot! Came here the other weekend for a wedding, and this place did not disappoint. Atmosphere - 4/5 - Located next to Killer Noodle (which we also ate at), it is in a very busy, constructiony area. Inside, very spacious. The only knock is that you must order via a kiosk at the counter (cannot order with a person) Staff - 5/5 - You do not really engage with them other than grabbing your food. However, was friendly when I received my order and gave me my condiments with no issue. What we ordered: I wasn't able to order much, as we just ate Killer Noodle. I saw Chicken and Waffles, and just had to order something haha. Food - Hot Chicken Sandwich - 4.5/5 - Other than the size, but the sandwich itself is delicious. I wish I had gotten it spicier. Strawberry Irish Creme Brulee - 5/5 - Really enjoyed this! I do recommend as it is just a great size and taste. The custard was really good. Overall, I did enjoy this place, and will be back when I visit again.

Honestly the Chicken Thunder Waffle Fries plate is one of my favorite comfort meals whenever I'm at the Waffle Bus. Perfect for a cheating day!!!

Food was great, atmosphere was pleasant. Quick self serve order kiosk and quick to get food out to you. Everyone was pleasant.

The fries were so delicious i need to go back for more! the burger was pretty decent, but the fries were so different. idk how to describe them but they're just crunchy and flavorful as hell. I liked the decor of this place and the staff was super nice. I would come back again because i really wanna try the waffles and get the fries again. The medium fries were enough for me with the burger but i would def say get large if u love fries.

The food was great! There's virtually no service. You order on a screen and eventually you are handed the food. It is a very self serve atmosphere, music is chill and multiple seating option.

I've had this place saved in my collections to try. I pretty much only eat chicken! Think of me as your resident Chicken Tester I also love spice and flavor so chicken spots that feature what I'm looking for I'm always down to try. Let's just say I want to try this place again because unfortunately, we had to place an order to go and it took a while before we made it back home to enjoy it. I prefer eating foods fresh after placing the order. I am keeping that in mind as I rate everything. The guy who helped us was very nice. He said we can pretty much make anything happen. I will say they did forget to add American cheese to the order I had. That was an extra add on, so next time I'll be able to check for that in person. I liked the flavor. I believe I ordered the hottest spice level, but out of 5 being the spiciest, I'd give it a 3. The spot is pretty chill. It's just a casual spot to order food from. Nothing fancy or special. I really enjoyed the waffle treat I had. That was very yummy. I ordered something off of the menu but customized it by adding a few other items. Highly recommend. Next time I go, I'd like to have it fresh, so that I can give a better opinion.

The hype for this place was unreal therefore I had to come to see it for myself & it did not disappoint... I forgot to take a picture of the Honey Chicken Biscuit it simply was a majestic experience that by the time I finished it I had realized I did not take a photograph..... The runny egg, honey & bacon stole the show as a combination of those 3 was wonderful. Then I had a Banana & Nutella Waffle & words cannot describe how good these waffles are regardless what options you pick you will not regret it. The service was a bit of a wait but with all the hype of this place it's expected & the decor of the place was a nice vibe. I will be coming back soon...

This place is pretty good, I got the chicken tender meal for lunch today I don't know what they put on their waffle fries but they are soooo good. The tenders on the other hand had good flavor just the chicken was a bit tough not sure if they were overcooked or what but the breading is good. I've tried other items on the menu before which were also good just the tenders this time were not it.

I've been following The Waffle bus on Facebook for some time now and I finally ate there yesterday! The only bad thing about my experience is that it came to an end! Everything was amazing, the staff, the food, the atmosphere. I can't wait to go back!

Our friends invited us to join them for lunch at Waffle Bus. Been on my list to try and I'm glad we finally did. I couldn't decide what I wanted initially lol so many ways to eat that chicken I just couldn't decide. I ended up choosing the Hot Chicken Sandwich on a Biscuit. I couldn't have choose better for my first time. THAT BISCUIT WAS SOOOOO GOOD OH MY GOSH. Lol I love bread y'all, that biscuit was so soft and buttery. I love how big it was too, enough to hold together while taking a bite. Great chicken to biscuit ratio. The hot chicken is seasoned very well with a nice kick, I really enjoyed it. The waffle fries bomb too. It was a fun time, chill environment, great meal. I did try a cereal ice cream shake too, it was just alright. Wasn't really my thing but I'm glad I tried it. I could've done without that part after the biscuit. Maybe next time I'll do the Nutella banana waffle for a sweet after

I went to the waffle bus around 6:30pm on a Thursday. It was pretty empty - there were about 10 people in the restaurant and there was no one waiting to order. Me and my friends ordered to go & Our orders came pretty fast. I will say - it was confusing at first. I didn't understand we had to order at the mobile kiosk so I stood there for a few minutes waiting to order. I wish this was a bit more clear. The restaurant was nice & clean. Once I figured out how to order it was a smooth process. The food was pretty good. I got the mac daddy on a waffle. The thunder sauce was really good & the chicken was yummy. It wasn't spicy though... My only complaint is that my last bite was only waffle - and it was weird ending on a waffle note & aftertaste. I almost wish i had gotten just the brioche bun. The fries were really delicious! Overall, it was a good experience and I'd definitely go back here

Decided to finally try the Waffle Bus. I have mixed emotions about it. When I entered, there wasn't anyone at the front counter. They have it set up at the counter where you can order yourself. Being that I had never been there, I didn't know what the sauces that they had were, so I wasn't totally sure what to order. I think someone was able to tell that I was having trouble, so a nice person came to the counter to help me out. After speaking with her, I decided on a burger and waffle fries. The burger: the bun was the best part of the burger. It was so good. The meat was very thin, but it had a good flavor. Even in saying that, I wouldn't order it again just because the meat was so thin and it wasn't worth the price. waffle fries: well... they were ok. Not great. I also wouldn't order those again. After finishing my burger, I wanted to get a dessert waffle. That's where I should have started. Boy, oh boy... it was so good. I got the Strawberry Irish Creme Brulee waffle. That alone is something that'll make me go back. Here's the details from their website: rich custard topped with caramelized sugar and sliced strawberries topped with powdered sugar. Go get ya one!

I was feeling for waffle fries one day and decided to try waffle bus. I've seen some social media content on it and decided to give it a try. Placed an online order for easy pick up. Getting to waffle bus, be prepared for lots of construction on shepherd ave. Also be prepared for limited parking in front of the restaurant. I was lucky to find one spot left. Not sure what you would do if there weren't any parking spaces. If you place an online order, you get text messages regarding the status of your order. When you enter, line to order is on the right and pick up orders are on the left side. Quick and easy pick up. Noticed it was a medium sized dining area. Chicken and waffle fryders were a huge disappointment! Please refer to my photo. Honestly I felt like they just quickly put chicken tenders in between two waffle fries and called it a day. No attempt to make them sandwiched. Could've just been chicken tenders and fries thrown in a box together. Barely any spicy Mayo either. At least the waffle fries in the fryders were a little seasoned. I had ordered a side order of additional waffle fries and they were not crunchy at all !! I was so disappointed in it. I didn't even bother finishing it. TLDR - Honestly, overpriced and I probably would've been better off making everything myself by buying frozen chicken tenders and waffle fries. I almost bought a milkshake too, but grateful that I didn't because I probably would've been disappointed with it too. The waffle bus was a miss for me. Won't be returning any time soon~

Fried chicken in my salad was delicious so I'm sure the chicken entrees are great! Hot beef fryders were good as well, a bit on the small side so def get sides. The white cheddar Mac n cheese was ok nothing too special. Our favorite part was the cereal milkshakes! Very yummy. We did find it strange that we are asked to tip when not only do you put your own orders into screens at the counter but you also have to go pick up your own food and bring to table. Bathrooms could've been cleaner too. Just was a pretty busy establishment for a small dining area.

Every day I'm Wafflin'!!!! If I lived out in the Heights area I would be waffling' every damn day. Prolly a good thing that I don't live there. Delicious Chicken and Waffles and Chicken sandwiches. The staff is super cool and helpful especially when it's your first time there. It was pretty cold in there that day. I can understand due to the fryers but next time, I'll bring my little sweater. I can't wait to waffle again. Forks up!!'

The Wings & Waffles dish was pretty good. The wings were plumper than the typical wings and flats you get these days and were coated with a flakey and crispy crust. All of the sauces someone else chose were pretty good. One was spicy and sweet, and the other was creamy and heavy. The waffles had a tasty batter. I liked how the waffles come covered with powdered sugar and strawberries with a side of maple syrup, so you get a dish with both sweet and savory flavors. Since it was delivered, the waffles weren't crispy, but the chicken was pretty hot and mostly crispy. The coleslaw was fresh and covered in a good amount of sauce.

I love fried chicken and waffles, so I was excited to give the waffle bus a try! It turned out to be just ok/decent. I got the fried chicken and waffle sandwich. The waffle was average; it was soft and fluffy but thin and didn't have much taste. The chicken was also just average. I got the hot honey on the side which helped, but I would have liked more seasoning and sauce to give the meal some flavor. I think it could also use a fresh element such as coleslaw to help elevate the dish. The wait times can get really long, especially on weekends, so be prepared to wait. My food took quite a while to come out even after ordering. It was loud and rowdy inside, good if you're looking for a high energy dining atmosphere.

3.5 edging to 4. Stopped in for lunch with the family. The restaurant is ran very efficiently with kiosk ordering. The food came out very fast. Its a bit small inside, but there was seating even during lunch. The menu has many items that look interesting and made me want to try. Chicken Sandwich with Waffle bun: Wife and son had it plain with Thunder sauce, I had mine Deluxe with Thunder Sauce. It is a good size sandwich, I needed to cut into to eat. The size of the sandwich is about the size of 2 small chicken sandwiches when you cut it into. The waffle "Bun/bread" was tender but lacked a bit of flavor, however the sauce and the Deluxe items more than made up for that. I will say if you order it deluxe it can get a bit messy. The chicken was moist and the batter was nicely attached to the chicken. The only downside to the chicken was that was not super crunchy and it needed the sauce to flavor it up. We all liked the sandwich, and I would suggest that you try it if you have not. However next time I would try the HOT or the MacDaddy. Or you can get some extra syrup and dip you sandwich in it. Cheeseburger Fryders: Sliders that use waffle cut fries as the "buns". These were ok, but would not order them again. The hamburger meat was very very good and flavorful, it makes me want to try out a full size burger. I guess my biggest disappointment was just the cost/value for the sliders. They are more of a novelty item in my opinion. The other Fryders may be a bit better than the plain Cheeseburger one. Seasoned Waffle Fries: Good, nicely cooked and had a good season to them. there was a good amount that came on the medium side. If you are looking for a quick lunch and want something a bit out of the ordinary I say give the Waffle Bus a try. It was fast and the ingredients were of a good quality. I would recommend and return.

First time trying Waffle Bus today and it was okay. The chicken was definitely good but the waffle could've been better. The fries were good but nothing crazy. It was a self order kiosk where you can choose what you want and then when the food is ready they will call your name. Food came out about 10-15 mins after ordering which was a bit considering it wasn't super busy. There is very limited parking so keep that in mind if you go. The restaurant inside was small with a few booths and tables with stools.

I always enjoy anything I've had from here. Service is fast and the food is excellent.

The fries were tasty! Would pass on the waffle sliders. Too plain for my taste. Not bad for more of a fast food option. Parking lot is small in front of building. Can find options in the area.

Oh my gosh!! Saw this place got Keith Lee'd so we decided since we were in Houston we would give it a try. Parking wasn't bad, limited but it was slow so we were able to find a spot thankfully. Walked in and were instantly greeted. I have to say the customer service here was amazing. The main gentleman who was taking orders and walking around was so kind and anticipating of every need. It was quiet when we were there and had a nice vibe. We ordered the chicken and waffle, the chicken honey butter biscuit, the cheese sauce and waffle fries and two hot tenders. Let me just tell you when I say this food hit!! I have been avoiding chicken and waffles for the last two years from anywhere because when I get it, it has been terrible or dry and just not worth it. The waffle was moist and flavorful. The chicken was fried well. The fries were CRISP. The cheese sauce had a slight kick which was delicious almost like a jalapeño flavor. And last but not least the hot tenders. They had great flavor while also numbing the tongue a little lol. We tried them with some syrup as well as the thunder sauce. Definitely was worth the trip. I'll be back.

This is a sleeper spot. If you're driving down the street at speed limit you'll miss it.'it's tucked away in a small strip mall like structure and the parking it very challenging, but when you get in this place!!! The food is simply amazing; we tried a bunch of stuff including the Mac & Cheese and they were all good.

Food was amazing I got the mc daddy only thing is that I was informed that tip goes to the owners. Service although was amazing the register person was really nice they definitely gave good service and was patient with me. The vibe was decent nothing crazy. Good place to go after a long day at work.

I have been stalking this business on IG since I last visited Houston last summer. This time I was able to stop in and met all of my expectations. I got the Mac daddy which is a waffle, with Mac & cheese & hot chicken. It was heavenly! I ate every morsel and want to go back again to try one of the sweet waffles.

Not impressed. Came here on a Monday, it was not busy. Parking is annoying just like most places on Shepherd. Once we got inside, not greeted nor are any instructions anywhere. So another customer told us we needed to order on the kiosk. Halfway through that order, the kiosk went offline. So we had to wait to see the cashier. While she was nice enough, she didn't seem like she wanted to be there and it took FOREVER to get the orders of 2 people ahead of us. The menu above the main counter is tiny so if you can't see well, you will not be able to see this. We ordered Thyders, chicken sandwich on sourdough and a spicy chicken sandwich. I asked for my waffle fries to be fried hard, sauce on the side. Fries were fine, sauce was missing. I also asked for pickles on the side, also missing. It was weird because ppl were working there - several ppl but where they went, I'll never know. The chicken sandwich I had was so underwhelming. It was like they just fried it and put it on a bun. No flavor AT ALL. I didn't even see any seasoning when I tore a piece off. The thyders looked cool enough but we're also underwhelming. Would I go back? Very unlikely. Place was clean inside and bathroom was clean. This place is a bit pricey for the experience and the taste of the food. Maybe I went on a bad day, idk but I couldn't recommend this place based on my experience here.

First time trying out this place and it was delicious! A very unique concept but definitely worth a try. Hubby loves chicken & waffles and absolutely loved this place. The fries are super well seasoned. Service is fast and efficient. Portions are a bit on the bigger side, especially for the chicken sandwiches so just come hungry! We will definitely be back!

Me and my friend were hungry and we have a concert to go to. So we came to The Waffle Bus because we know the food is good and it's fast. The parking lot it's a bit tight. You order from a kiosk. And then they will call your name and you go to the Waffle Bus looking area and grab your food, drinks are self served. The waffle is always on point. The spiciness on the chicken hit the back of my throat.

Food overall was a 10/10. What really topped it all off for me? THE SHAKES! The fruity pebble shake was SO good!! It was super crunchy (the cereal) and the whole time tasted just like a fruity pebble shake. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch was just as good! To tie the meal together I got a banana Nutella waffle & added strawberries! This dessert was *amazinggg* I think what really made my experience worth it was the various way you can customize an order to your liking. Instead of just ordering one thing as is, you can add or take away or add extra of something to your meal. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're in the mood for some delisious smash burgers & waffles!!

The food is LEGIT ! First off I got the waffle sliders (Fryders) chicken sandwich on waffle fries for a bun. This is a great novelty item ! Fun! Chicken is crisp thin pounded and quartered. Good size for shareable appor entree heads up you do have to additionally pay for sides. Next I tried the BIG cheesey. Get this! If you can't decide burger or chicken the burger has ALL the flavor !!!! The Mac and cheese does NOT disappoint ! This was the star of my meal even though it was all great fresh and made to order ! When you walk it there are a few self service iPads you can put your order in. Or you can talk to the person at the till. Very friendly service ! This place is worth a stop if you're on the northwest side of Houston!

Average at best. Chairs were uncomfortable. Food was pretty good. The manager was excellent.

Hot Chicken sandwich $11.99 - really good fried chicken. Very crispy, juicy white meat, and just the right amount of spice. Pretty big (bf and I shared), but if you're super hungry, you could probably eat one yourself. Pretty big piece of chicken but more waffle than chicken. Waffle was good. Seasoned fries, small $3.00 - about 10 pieces. Very good, very crispy, great seasoning. Glad we tried this. Kind of pricey though at $16 (no drink), so not sure when we'll be back.

Got the chicken and waffle sandwich and it was so good!! The sauces brought it all together very well. Service was quick and friendly. Sitting area is nice as well. We will be back!
