Google
Awesome tap list! So many choices from different states. The space is nice and big, which is great. The only thing is that the food is just alright. nothing special. Next time I would probably bring my own food or DoorDash to this place.

Casey Wilson

Google
Their beer selection is always stacked! The wine selection is always expertly curated - emphasizing unique & diverse grape varieties. Food at Transfer Station is excellent! The fish sandwich is one of my favorites 🤤 Staff is always kind, welcoming & educated on the products their selling.

Marc Milrod

Google
Didn't have food, skip that review. Basically an open air pub, 2 garage doors, modest parking lot next to other parking spaces. On the shady south side of Indian School Road, seemed to stay cool enough to us. Initially overwhelmed at the choices. Green boards are 'on sale,' black boards w/ red chalk are sours. They offer quite a lot. If you can't find something here, maybe go get some spirits. Many cases offering 4oz., 8oz., and 16 oz. beer pours. Plenty of solid traditional offerings and wild-hair collaboration brews. A short list of Meads in 2 & 4 oz. pours. A few more wines as well with a healthy bottle selection section Knowledgeable and polite staff. What is not to like? SO glad we happened by. OK, they have a food truck and another whack of taps on the back patio. Also, a decent selection of canned goods, mostly beer... we didn't check. DEFINITELY someplace we're going to return to.

Kayla Carey

Google
The French dip on special this week - is incredible. The bread was fresh and the meat was so juicy. We’re also impressed by the fish sandwich! Happy to see this local fave spot creating quality food that’s available 7 days a week!

Google
A true Phoenix gem. This taproom is far more than its slick appearance. The beer that goes on tap here is not easily found everywhere. That’s a fact. The food made from the kitchen on the back patio is great. All the people that make this place go deserve a huge thank you. Oh insane bonus? Nelson’s next door. Get some seafood when the kitchen isn’t going at wandering. Spoiled for choice on food and beer at this spot.

Google
The Wandering Tortoise has really great beer. They have a wide selection of beers that you can choose from. The service is great as well. The art work throughout the establishment looks like the artist was on LSD......

Loren Wickstrom

Google
Always a great place to grab a beer and catch up with someone. They have a very good food truck in back that churns out some amazing food. If you are planning to go there for food, make sure you know the food truck is open...days and hours vary.

Casey R

Google
This place is awesome. Hands down best and widest selection, most friendly and helpful staff, and the food station out back makes it a great place to chill until you’re hungry (again). I can’t recommend this spot enough. I’m a huge fan of Superstition Meadery and they have my favorite meads (and a cider) from them pretty consistently. Thanks for accommodating my birthday group and making it a special evening too!

Yelp
We were here because PHX lechon roasters would be in the parking lot selling lechon. I don't drink much, so I got the iced peach green tea. My fiancé got two beers, and he said they were both very good. For how small the space is, there is a lot of seating, which is great, since it's way too hot out. I think the outdoor seating could improve for sure. The tables and seats were too hot outside of the shade and I'm thinking the umbrella could have been open the whole time (during the business is open) to prevent it or lessen the heat. And when you're on the high top right in the shade, you can sit fine, but because the mister doesn't hit that area, we still felt pretty warm. But overall, a great experience! The service was great as well :)

Yelp
I was in Phoenix looking at a grad school, and met up with an old friend I knew from a beer-share. Wondering Tortoise was his recommendation as "The Place" to go. They had lots and lots of taps and I probably had about 10 different small pours of Bottle Logic, a flight of Superstition mead, an IPA from Outer Range and a can of apple/ peanut brittle beer from their can selection. The servers were aldo really nice and were recommending local places I should check out if I move to the area. Overall, very cool beer bar! Cheers

Yelp
One of the best chill spots for a tap room. Very dog friendly you can have your doggy inside away from the heat. Great rotation of local and west coast brews. Friendly and helpful staff, best thing is everyday happy hour until 7:30!

Yelp
We came here the other day during happy hour. They have a something like 47 beers on tap. You'll definitely find something you'll like. They have a relaxed atmosphere. Where we sat at the bar made it difficult to read the board and the bartender showed us a QR code that linked us to all the offerings. Although, he failed to mention some were not available for happy hour pricing. We each had 2 before we found out. We hadn't eaten yet and decided to take advantage of the food truck that was set up outside. It was Sink or Swim, we both had the carne tacos that were stuffed with meat. The guy brought them right to us when they were ready. He even checked on us to make sure we liked them and didn't need anything else. I would definitely recommend! We had opened a tab at the bar and we needed our card back to order the food. The bartender closed us out. We noticed we didn't get happy hour pricing and when we asked, that is when he informed us that we chose beers that weren't apart of happy hour. That's unfortunate and we chose to not have more. We will probably return at some point because they have so much to choose from. If we come during happy hour, we will be a little better with our choices now that we know.

Yelp
I appreciate the ambiance and local beers on tap. The selections offered up by the servers were spot on awesome! Would definitely be back. Wish they had some type of food to go with their selections on draft for beers or wine.

Yelp
The Tortoise is a great hangout in Arcadia. It looks fairly small from the outside (due to lack of parking), but the inside is fairly expansive and they have a bigger backyard that is opened for signature events like the pig roast and IPA Day. Seating is good for both groups and singles. Usually sports are on TV. In the last few years Tortoise has expanded the offerings to beer, wine , and mead. All of the taps are rotating and Tortoise attempts to have a variety of styles available - usually they'll let you sample before deciding on a pint. They're quickly becoming known for special beer events - celebrating certain beer varieties like IPA Day, Bottle Logic, Sour Fest, etc. Tortoise is pet-friendly as you'll usually see a couple of dogs laying around at any point, and they have doggie water bowls around the shop. They also operate the food shop out front - Sink or Swim - which has some nice sandwiches and sides. Nelson's next door also has carry out options... and if all else fails, there's a Circle K next door. Would love to see Tortoise expand to my part of town - it's always such a fun time!

Yelp
We always love the beer here and the ambiance is a hit. The new food truck, Transfer Station, takes this place to the next level. Thanks for a great sour and meal!

Yelp
Went on a date here and would highly recommend it for that occasion. It seems like they usually have a food truck there but there wasn't when we went. Wish it wasn't next to the street but it didn't take away from our time. Great beer selection and service and easy parking. I plan on being back!

Yelp
Came here recently for happy hour and had a great time! They have a huge selection on tab and bottles/cans to take home. The staff was super friendly and helped me chose a cider, which was so good. The atmosphere was fun and lively. It was very crowded on the day I went so parking was a struggle but there was street parking a block away which wasn't bad. Overall I highly recommend this Biltmore gem!

Harrison M.

Yelp
Beer was good, employees were horrible except the guy with the long hair. Nice ambiance.

Yelp
One of the few places I've been to that serves mead. I love this spot because it definitely caters to locals and has a really relaxed laid back vibe. It's also really useful that they have a small restaurant in the parking lot called 'Sink or Swim'. This place is dog friendly in the patio. They have a few board games to play with friends! They also have frozen rose' which is pretty popular as well. I'd recommend this spot for anyone that needs a place to hangout with friends, a coworker happy hour, or some other type of social event!

Yelp
Let me start by saying, out of all the frosé I have tried, the Wandering Tortoise has my favorites. I love it so much I called to ask for the recipe one time. A plethora of choices for beers, IPAs, and ciders. They even have a food truck out front sometimes. Always a fun atmosphere and staff is always friendly. One thing to be careful of: The frosé straws! They're so tall it's very easy to knock over the glasses.
google avatar

Kelly P.

Yelp
Came here to check it out and it ended up being during sourfest - best selection of sours I've ever seen!!! They do this yearly and there were over 45 on tap.... For the rest of the year there is a great mix and this is a fun laidback but trendy bar that has a great happy hour

Yelp
We were in town for Arizona Craft Beer Week and we had just spent the day at the Arizona Strong Beer Festival, but we rallied and went out for a few more! I was with a friend who had been here before so we went on his suggestion. A great craft beer bar with 28 beers on tap and 11 mead pours available. We each sampled (4 ounce pours) our way through three or four different beers and throughly enjoyed the beers and our experience here. I would definitely return here next time we are in Phoenix.
google avatar

Yelp
Great little divey bar with a patio. DOGS ALLOWED INSIDE!! YAY!!! Great for those hot summer days. Beers were delicious and fair priced. Service was quick and friendly. Will be back for work meetings and beers.
google avatar

Dionne G.

Yelp
Nice casual spot with great service. Love that it was dog friendly. Has a wide variety of beverages on tap.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Made a stop in to The Wandering Tortoise after a friend recommended it to me on a day out on the town and I'm so glad he did. Such a big and fun taproom. The Wandering Tortoise focuses mainly on craft beers, 22 rotating on tape. They have also added 10 wines and a variety of meads. So there is just about something for everyone. They have a huge wrap around bar with plenty of seating inside and outside. The service was great. I had a few questions about their sours our bartender let me sample a few and gave me some information on them. He helped me pick out the perfect one. I look forward to coming back when I am in the area again.
google avatar

Kay M.

Yelp
Great vibe! Recommended by many local people finally decided to give it a go, great selection of beer, friendly service. Food trucks available. Nice, air-y ambiance! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Brad P.

Yelp
They ask you to leave when they want someone else in your seat. Unfortunate since they have a great beer selection, but lacking customer service
google avatar

Jeremy D.

Yelp
Great craft tap room in Arcadia in PHX. Lots of variety ~20+ including 5 meads. Not many taprooms serve meads. One particular mead was very strong made from fermented honey over 13% abv. They have light beers, sours, ipa's, darks and lots of hazy ipas. Service was awesome and they weren't stingy or reluctant with the splashes. Outdoor seating available in the parking lot. But parking can get tough.
google avatar

Gordon V.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Every time I visit Phoenix this is a must stop. They have a new outdoor area and it was packed! It was great seeing bottle logic on tap, also a fav of mine pure brewing, and a lot more guest taps and collaborations. So many amazing choices and beer styles for everyone's palate. Don't like beer, they have wine too! There is a food truck on premises and the people here are so outgoing and fun. Great time. Dog friendly. Cheers
google avatar

Omari D.

Yelp
Coming here during the week can be your change up to a "hybrid coffee" shop... just no coffee :-). Middle of the week, Weds is ideal. I've been in the evenings when it's packed, so seeing it during lunch allowed me to appreciate the decor! After having lunch next door and the afternoon off, I decided to indulge a bit until friends could join. I had the frozen slushy aka Tripping Animal which is a Limonada Rosada... sour froze Raspberry Lemonade. Once you start in that mode, it's hard to transition out... several drinks later and the joining of friends made it ideal. Invite the squad to come & join.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
Cute local Arcadia bar. So many brews to choose from! They also have a nice to-go selection available. There's a food truck out front most of the time and Nelson's Meat & Fish located next door if you're in need of food. They allow you to bring it over! It's also very pet friendly here which is an added bonus. It's worth a stop in and a great casual place to meet with friends to catch up.
google avatar

Carlos A.

Yelp
Pretty neat place with a huge variety of craft beer available. They are dog friendly and also very people friendly. There is inside seating as well as outside seating and they open it up so it's just open to both.

Jose G.

Yelp
Okay no bullshit this place has THE BEST tacos. (Sink or swim) Seriously top 2! Staff was super attentive and music was on point. The atmosphere is calm and dim lit. Still one of my favorite spots in AZ
google avatar

Darya S.

Yelp
Pretty unassuming taproom with a chill vibe that seems well-loved by locals. We had a team happy hour here for my coworker's birthday and everyone seemed to love the beer, and wooo boy, do they have a lot of options for wine, mead, and beer! Maybe they should offer flights for people?! I don't drink, so I can't comment on the alcohol, but it seems like a great place for all your drinking and hanging out needs. FYI they don't offer any food at all, but there is a taco food truck right in front of the joint.
google avatar

Kalvin K.

Yelp
Found this fun spot via Yelp. It's a great place for a beer and some food (via the food container o ur side). Not the most intimate place for a nice conversation. They have music blasting a bit too loud for any normal level of speaking. The beers were good but run out, so be cognizant of that. I had the lager first but the keg blew midway so I got half a glass - the beertender was nice and didn't charge me. I opted for the Belgian wheat beer next and that was good. Just wish it was a bit quieter inside.
google avatar

Susan G.

Yelp
I am not a "food porn" person but next time I come here, I will take a picture of my Cuban Sandwich because it deserves to be represented as much as any beer here. Too hot to eat when it arrived from the "shipping container kitchen" 20ft away from my table in the patio. And then...Literally the best sandwich and fries I may have EVER had. Tender pork, perfect pickles, a pretzely kind of griddled roll with crispy seasoned fries. I'm stuffed because I could NOT leave a bite behind.
google avatar

Joe A.

Yelp
Came out for some sour beers. I had 3 different sours which were all amazing. The service is great. The servers were both down to Earth and helpful/knowledgeable. The music is old school funk and hip hop which to me is timeless and fits any occasion. I noticed the bartenders were cleaning everything in site and or working on updating the menu. I feel a lot of pride and attention to detail which I appreciate. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for some good beer and good bartenders to talk to. Place is clean as hell to boot. Thanks :)
google avatar

Dave O.

Yelp
Really fun place. Went meet a friend who is a regular here and loved it. All the staff was decent and being that it wasn't super busy I didn't have to wait to get my drink. Loved the fridge with cans, I found many delicious new beers to try. Parking lot is very small, that was the only problem. Next time I will try some fresh pizza made right outside or one of the food trucks.

Keith M.

Yelp
You guys need to change your bathroom locks. I used the bathroom twice while I was here and got "walked-in-on" both times. Ridiculous. I dont feel comfortable drinking here. It happened to my friend as well when we were here another time. Reply to Michael G: Yeah no problem man, nothing better than a lock malfunctioning so I flash my meat in front of another female customer. Get those locks checked buddy. There's definitely an issue with them
google avatar

Arthur M.

Yelp
Bottle shop/taprooms like Wandering Tortoise are big trouble for me. We originally came in to pick up some Bottle Logic, which isn't sold in Nevada, to take back home. Next thing you know, we're sitting at the bar, pounding beers, talking sports with our neighboring bar mates, three hours have gone by, and we have close to a triple digit bar tab. The more than worthy tap selection and great atmosphere will having me coming back every time I'm in town. Once we found out it was customer appreciation night and all IPAs were $5 on our most recent visit in late March, our bums were glued to the stools for the long haul. Along with plenty of local brews, you'll still see some beers from standout brewers like Bottle Logic, Modern Times, and Schramm's Mead. If you'd like to enjoy your brews at home, the bottle selection in the cooler will make it difficult for you to stay within your budget. Of course we did get hungry so we enjoyed some tacos and corn from Sink or Swim. Light the lamp, because your purchase at Sink or Swim is accompanied with a ticket for a $5 draft! And if we had been there just a little earlier, we could have feasted on $2 oysters at Nelson Meat + Fish next door. Along with $5 Frose on Sundays and the occasional tap takeover, you'll see other upcoming special events like Hazy Fest and Suds + Wax, where you can bring in your vinyl records and have them played. We did go a couple times for about 5 minutes with empty glasses in front of us and were given drive bys without eye contact. But overall, the bartenders are very friendly and knowledgeable. They'll be more than happy to assist you in the decision making process.
google avatar

Catalina F.

Yelp
I love going to different places to enjoy different types of beers, but not impressed with the service. The people seemed bored or not interested in chatting. I guess you should know what you want when you come in. I have been to multiple places, and they are usually very energetic about the different types of options but did not get it here.
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
Still an amazing place after all these years. I am thankful the service and selection of beers just keeps getting better.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
Love the Wandering Tortoise as they have a great drink selection with a variety of beers, meads, and wines. They also have a permanent food truck outside in the parking lot. They have delicious food and speedy service. I always get their Cuban sandwich. They also have fun events happening all the time!
google avatar

Nahshon P.

Yelp
What a cool vibe. Very modern and lots of art all around. Very small lot if you drive too fast you will miss it! The beer is fantastic and 4 brewery later by far the best stop!!! If you like to save the best for last than go here last! Love the bathroom! Food truck is outside. Music is loud. But good. Highly recommend
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
Awesome beer selection. They offer multiple sizes in their draft selection and they have about 6 doors worth of cans in their refrigerator.
google avatar

Netanya B.

Yelp
I loved this place! They had a bigger selection of sours than usual. I recommend the Dark Sky Franklin sour if you like sours, you will not be disappointed. Service was swift. They do not serve food but they have a food truck out front and they will bring food to you. I liked the atmosphere. It was a casual place in a lively area.
google avatar

Lena K.

Yelp
I absolutely love WT! This isn't super close to where we live but it's somewhere we'll meet friends for drinks any day of the week and it's always busy! Not so incredibly busy that you can't find a seat at the bar or a table to sit at, but there are always people there. They have an amazing selection of beers, meads, cold brew and other non-alcoholic drinks. I am a fruity sour fan and they've always got something interesting that I end up loving. You can also order in multiple different sizes, down to a 4-8oz pour. They sell cans you can purchase and drink there or of course you can take them home. While they don't serve food, they have an awesome food truck residency right now - check it out on their Insta! The food was awesome! You can also bring food, or order delivery to the bar! Thanks for all of the fun, WT! Love your beer and your staff!
google avatar

Hillary C.

Yelp
Love love love this place! Wandering Tortoise is 100% dog friendly, inside and out! Fine fine, that might bias my opinion, but having dogs everywhere is always a plus in my book. This was the first time I've been after they built out the new parking lot and the outdoor area. We went middle of the day during AZ winter, so it was absolutely lovely out. The perfect chill place to spend time with friends. As always the bartenders were helpful and friendly. They have so many selections of beer, cider, and mead! My absolutely favorite (which they always seem to carry) is the Blueberry Spaceship Box by Superstition Meadery. Make sure to take advantage of the food truck they have outside. I've seen different trucks there, however looking at their facebook page, they have partnered up with Corny Masa. Once your order your food, they'll bring the food to you inside or outside of Wandering Tortoise! Note: Parking may be a bit of a struggle, the lot was full and we were there during an off time. My suggestion is to lyft/uber, if possible, and drop off at the gas station next door.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Awesome selection, incredible people, and a great place to just relax. Knowledgeable bar tenders and even friendly clientele. We went for happy hour and, while $1 off is nice, it only applies to about a fourth of the menu, but prices are reasonable so it isn't a big deal.
google avatar

Jules B.

Yelp
Lots of beer choices but the beer isn't anything to rave about. No kitchen for food so if you're hungry, there's a food truck outside but a lot of stuff sells out super fast and you'll have to wait 45 minutes to an hour for food. Parking is tight too. The ambiance is not too bad tho. If you just want to have a drink with friends then you might not mind this place.
google avatar

Ashley T.

Yelp
All I gotta say is $5 frose on Sundays, you can't beat that. This location is actually really cool, they sell a lot of craft IPAs and beers that come in unique bottles/cans. One time I even tried mead... It wasn't for me but I like the idea of a bar just carrying mead. The Wandering Tortoise makes me wish I liked more than just liquor lol.
google avatar

Danyela B.

Yelp
Very chill, love this bar. The bartenders are especially kind. Good rotation of the taps!! Always can find something I like here.
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
Indoor and outdoor seating at this pub. I thought the beer list was a little short compared to other places we've been. They only had one or two ciders to choose from, and a list of meads. Service was good. I had Blueberry cider that truly tasted like blueberry kool aid. It was very tasty and went down way too fast!
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Such a great spot to meet friends for beers! We had a couple of flights and sat outside. There's a food truck right outside to grab a couple of bites with your drinks. Staff and patrons are all friendly. Dogs are welcome and there's just a nice, calm ambiance. We will definitely be back with our pups!
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
I've been coming here since it opened and this place has a great selection of tap and bottle selections, along with a surprisingly strong wine list. However, the Tortoise is truly special because of their staff- Adam, Sheldon, Travis, Thomas, Kayla and everyone else are very knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming, and ultimately that's what brings me back after 7 years.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
This is a great little neighborhood tap room. Delicious selection of beer, wine and even some mead. Love the $5 frose on Sunday. They have a cooler as well, so you can snag some beer or wine to take home or they charge a small corking fee to drink there. Check their Instagram to see what food truck is in the parking lot or grab something on the way, since they don't have a kitchen. Friendly staff and dogs are welcome too!
google avatar

Jay T.

Yelp
Waited way too long to visit this establishment for the first time. I was fortunate enough to to be there for their collabo w/ Tripping Animals Brewery. The beer selection was phenomenal, both on tap and in the fridge. Music selection was on point. I had a bomb burrito from the Sink or Swim food truck. I will definitely be making more visits.
