The Wash - Review - Capitol Hill - Seattle - The Infatuation

"The Wash is a kooky little Capitol Hill bar that can shapeshift into different kinds of nights. A chill booth catch-up with a few beers is achievable on one end of the LED-lit space. On the other side, folks might be a few vodka sodas deep, dancing to a DJ spinning lyricless EDM. The signature cocktails here sound promising, like black tea-infused gin with Campari and crème de banane, but they’re all a bit lifeless—stick to canned stuff or well drinks. The upside is that after all that liquid goes down, visiting the dueling themed bathrooms—a searing red “tanning bed” and a sage-tinted desert thunderstorm—is just as fun as the bar itself." - Aimee Rizzo

Seattle’s Hottest New Bars, Fall 2024

"Capitol Hill has long been home to maximalist design and quirky inspiration, so the Wash feels right in step. Taking over the old Rose Temple space, this new late-night watering hole weaves together Route 66 kitsch with desert nature — or as the staff put it, “Southwest roadside motel attraction.” There’s a full bar here, and the focus is on fast, balanced cocktails that go down smoothly. The fan favorite so far is the Pearl Hart, silver tequila and cointreau with prickly pear and lime. For the full immersive experience, be sure to check out the bathrooms and the back room that looks like a mid-century honeymoon suite." - Brianna Gunter

Seattle’s New Restaurant Openings

"A new bar has taken over the old Rose Temple space on Capitol Hill. There’s a southwestern motel theme with lots of red lighting, velvet couches, and of course, a few cacti." - kayla sager riley, aimee rizzo

The Hottest New Restaurants in the Seattle Area, June 2024

"Opened in May 2024, this Capitol Hill cocktail lounge has kind of a Hunter S. Thompsonian ‘70s desert motel vibe, with framed photos of cacti and Route 66 signs, a colossal disco ball, and lots and lots of orange. There’s even a staged honeymoon suite in the back! The Wash replaces Rose Temple, which was sold in late 2023 to first-time bar owners Nick Fizer and Emilio Esparza — the latter of whom hails from the Southwest. Although the decor’s changed, the space is still dedicated to hosting DJ events and chef popups, including a cameo by Seattle’s most luxurious bar food chef, Lakea Osias (Lakea Cooks), who’ll celebrate Juneteenth with smoked ribs, baked beans with hot links in ’em, minty watermelon salad, and butter pecan cake on June 19." - Meg van Huygen, Harry Cheadle

They have great happy hour options during the week. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff. The bathrooms are definitely some of the most unique bathrooms in cap hill

Google
I really enjoyed The Wash. it’s a cute and eclectic vibe, serving an older millennial crowd (shout out my peeps!). The food was tasty, and the service was phenomenal. I had asked about eggs in a dish, and was initially told there was none. I wanted to confirm this when the gentleman brought my food. He said there was an error, as this dish does have egg, and made it again for me. I appreciate the commitment to service and my allergy. There was a DJ the night I went, adding a house music sound. Overall, great spot for a more casual and laid back drinks spot, that offers cute photo ops with friendly vibes Beware coming early evening to chow down and drink! Limited seating avail

Google
Hands down one of my most favorite bars on Capitol Hill! Warm and inviting southwest inspired ambience, amazing and authentic Puerto Rican cuisine (in love with the pork lumpia ) Groove music and the most friendly staff, plus dog friendly! Ask for the Volans old fashioned if you're looking for a kick a$$ cocktail. Plus, who doesn't love a insta-fun bathroom theme B)

Came here with a dear friend who needs an accessible entrance because he uses an electric scooter to navigate the world. The Wash pulled out a ramp for him to navigate the stairs, and once we were inside the bar and bathrooms were extremely accessible.

It's a little loud sometimes, but the drinks are good and the food is out of this world. I have never had a bad time here and the decor is killer.

Love this place. Love the bartenders. Couldn’t ask for a better environment to hang out in. The events are amazing here. Def a safe place for queers.

The vibe here is perfect! Not a wild drunken spot, much more "chill friends living room' vibe. Possibly my new favorite bar in the city, I'll be back often! Great spot to go solo and hang at the bar as it's not overwhelming and people seem generally down to chat. Great space to read with a cocktail too! Oh and the food is way better than I expected!

Yelp
The Wash is a new bar that has a funky retro theme located in Capitol Hill. They're open early at 3 PM which is rare in the area. The bartender was very friendly and chatted with us. At 3 PM, it wasn't very busy, but had all the vibes nevertheless. The cocktail menu is fun and imaginative. We enjoyed a variety of drinks. I ordered the Goldie Griffith $13: Green tea infused rum, lemon, honey & ginger bitters, which was delicious. The bartender even made it a little sweeter for me upon request. We also ordered the Nachos ($12) as a little snack, which was loaded with cheese and toppings, perfect for sharing. It included salsa as well. There is a cute front area with couches, booths, and a bar space. If you want a little more privacy, there is a backroom semi-private area decorated with hearts. The windows are semi blocked out with colorful film, making the whole space feel very retro. The best part about our experience is the kindness of the establishment. The bartender congratulated our friend for her new job and comped her drink since it was her celebration.

Yelp
Tried this spot for the first time last night. It was well decorated and is really fun. Theres a person at the front who checks your id. Overall it was pretty chill and quiet when we got there but when we left it was more popping an hour later. I got the pearl hart and my friends got the wild bunch rose and primero jones, I personally liked mine the best but they were all good. I didn't find the drinks anything crazy or exceptionally good though. Overall the drinks were pretty good, I think it was just a chill night at the bar but maybe I'll try it again and see how it is next time.

Yelp
Always great service and good drinks. The food is pretty good too. Love the ambiance and vibes as well. I get a Long Island every time I go - it's always great no matter who makes it.

Yelp
I've been here twice now, and the vibe is solid. The bar has good lighting, and there's a fun pink-lit bathroom. The music is a bit loud (my friend even asked them to turn it down) so it's not the best spot for a date or a deep conversation. The drinks are good, and they serve food, though I haven't tried it yet.

Yelp
Always love checking out and supporting new local spots! The drinks were excellent, and the service was very friendly. Love that they're open early, but really wish they had a happy hour to go with it, especially when all other other nearby bars have happy hours until at least 6pm! There's lots of games in the front to play, and a variety of fun seating to choose from. One of the bathrooms is decked out in bright neon lights - even just 1 minute in there threw off my eyes for a while after, bring sunglasses!

Yelp
TLDR: amazing. Please go!!! Was in Seattle with my friend for a few days, decided to go explore and bar hop on our late day. We were super nervous about going since we aren't used to this city but we were greeted warmly by the bartender and our service was quick. They were very pleasant and chatty and gave us lots of great tips. We felt extremely comfortable and welcomed. We got the chips and salsa + guac and were obsessed with it. The salsa is amazing. I got the draft Seattle cider and the draft IPA, both I'd recommend if you like beer! My friend got a few cocktails. They're good, definitely strong! The vibes, decor, and music were also fantastic. Booths are very comfy and it was clean and taken care of. The bathrooms are very fun and interesting. I really like this place. We are going to be coming back to this place next time we are in town.

Yelp
very cool bar with red fur walls and a cute back area with hearts and a mirror ceiling. the bartenders were very nice with great service and the drinks were a bit on the stronger side. they had lots of different seating options from stools, booths, couches and more! i also saw that they had board games that would be great if you were with a big group. would definitely come back and try other drinks!

Yelp
every time i have come here i have had good service; i've also attended parties here and the ambiance is just so great. Great vibe. although the cook was fuckin gross about my food and put it on another customers table first left it there for half an hour to be touched and then gave it to me. the food tasted good but jesus have some manners and if you give the wrong customer food give the right customer, new food. thanks!

Yelp
Wonderful, chill place on the hill. Drinks are stellar! (order at the bar, no table service) But great vibes, staff is super friendly and helpful! Cute space, fun decor. There's some great events/ shows that happen here, too! Plus, great snacks!

Yelp
This is the strangest "gay bar" on the hill. Where the rejects of the community come to congregate. Bad vibes, slow service, painful music, underwhelming events. This place is a total miss. If you're gay and looking for fun try CC's, Queer Bar, Cuff, Pony, Union will provide you a pleasant experience.

Yelp
good food, good ambience, chill vibes. gorgeous space and really lovely staff. the events are rad. so glad there's a new inclusive space on the hill

Yelp
TLDR: this place was, unfortunately, disappointing. We walked in excited to check out the funky decor and food/ bev selection. We grabbed a seat and waited to be acknowledged. Both bartenders looked our way and didn't say a word. After 15 minutes, we simply got up and left. For reference, there was only 5 other people inside and it was a Monday at 8:30pm. Unfortunate experience given the newness, fun decor and music selection. We won't be returning.

Yelp
Super fun, inclusive and wonderfully put together space! Sweetheart staff! Great spot for a casual happy hour drink or a fun frisky night out!
