"From the easygoing nautical decor theme to approachable seafood entrees like classic lobster rolls, fried shrimp platters with slaw and fries, and grilled salmon over salad, The Waterman feels like a relaxed escape from the city. A must: Start with the smoked trout paté with crackers." - Katie Toussaint

I had the citrus salmon. It was decent just needed more seasoning. The broccoli absolutely had no seasoning so I asked for ranch to dip it in. The Cajun french fries were good: not spicy at all. My friend had the simply salmon do not order this. It had no flavor to it. My daughter had the chicken and waffles. She said the chicken was very delicious but the waffle was so so. The mac & cheese was decent very cheesy.

Ended up here on a whim. Ate before going out, had a sweet tooth later (ended up at Swirl across the street), and than needed something salty again lol. I've been meaning to check out Waterman cause of their patio but it was 8pm and a cold night in April's false summer, second spring. Sat at the bar, and bartender was patient, attentive, and nice in generally to set a good atmosphere. First time here, appreciated the service, would dine again. My friend got a drink, idk name, but they didn't like it (but again our first time trying the menu), said overly strong so may be a go for someone else. I got a mocktail which was herby and sweet, perfect (think it was Midnight something). Friend got fish and chips, lol the size of the fish! Was cooked well but batter was not my friend's fave. I got lobster roll, Connecticut style. Good, not amazing but good enough if I was craving again and wanted to splurge would get again. Didn't understand the lettuce stuck in there lol. We both LOVED the fries, hot and fresh. So all in all would come back to try other things. I think menu could be better with options but I thought Waterman was a seafood restaurant but really it's like an oyster shack, if that makes sense. Still worth checking out for something other than bbq.

Wanted oysters, and too, try this location. We have been to the other location they have. Wanted to sit outside was a beautiful day when we went, but no seating. Got sat promptly inside. Service was OK, a little slow, but not too bad. Did many orders of the $1.50 salts. It is absolutely worth it at $1.50, but NC salts are very generic. We ordered about 2 dozen of some other varieties as well and a shrimp cocktail. It's not a bad place at all for oysters or other seafood offers. Good place to sit outside and slam oysters if you can!

a little late with my review, we stopped here on our way down to south carolina, the restaurant was recommended by a hotel staff member. tried the lobster mac and cheese, lobster roll, NC mountain trout, and shrimp platter. lobster mac and cheese, lobster roll, and shrimp platter were all okay. what you would expect basically. NC mountain trout was good!

We were a bit leery coming here as we had only heard it mentioned for oysters. I’m disgusted by oysters. So….four of us went for dinner. The menu is seafood oriented but there is a wide variety of dishes. Apps, mains, soups, sandwiches, salads, etc. They have a good selection of beers on tap as well as canned and bottled. Nice drink specials list. Cocktail with some specifications was done well. Friends started off with a dozen oysters and were very happy with them. We shared a shrimp cocktail, about 10 shrimp probably size 20-24 nicely served on ice in a boat shaped dish. Two of us had the trout one blackened and one grilled, and it was great. There was a nice mildly creamy sauce on top of the trout, and the blackened flavor was wonderful. They substituted rice pilaf for the dirty rice. One companion had a wedge salad, which was a huge wedge of lettuce, followed by a blackened shrimp taco available on either corn or flour tortilla. Got a great review. The fourth person had fish and chips and they looked wonderful and he reported that they were great. It was a huge piece of fried white fish. The bill is attached and it was reasonable. My only complaint and it is no one‘s fault is that it was quite noisy. It is a Saturday night, however. There is lovely outdoor seating with heaters. Would definitely come here again.

On our way from Boone, NC back home to Orlando, FL we chose this place for lunch stop and oh my, it was the best decision I made. They had 5 variety of raw oyster. We like the 3 from NC, CA, and NY. The other 2 from Maine were not our type. The seafood platter we order is a must try item. We requested extra Rainbow Trout since me and my wife don’t like to share trout! It’s that good :) Definitely stop by here. Staff are so lovely and service is great.

Nicole with Offline - My visit to Waterman Fish Bar was great. I was kindly served by LeAnn and received swift responses. there were quite a few reservations on this particular Sunday so I was not able to get a table right away, but was offered to see at the raw bar, which worked out fine. I ordered the salmon dinner with the six cheese, mac & cheese, and the chard broccoli. everything less delectable in the water fish bar will be a staple of mine anytime I'm in Charlotte. being a pescatarian is always nice when you can find great seafood. I appreciate the service offerings at this establishment.

This is a great restaurant. The food was delicious! Lots of options to choose from! We had a little bit of everything. Oysters, blackened platter, trout. Brian’s customer service was top tier! Thanks for the Sonic the Hedgehog reminder! Didn’t realize this location is also a sister company to Sea Level in Uptown Charlotte! Which is our favorite restaurant in Uptown! I guess I should have known! Highly recommend this restaurant and will return again! -Side note: I love that they put Brian’s tip in the safe for him since he left early to take his daughter to the movies! That speaks volumes to me! Happy Holidays, folks!
