"As Hubei natives, the owner and head chef do not budge on what qualifies as true Hubei cuisine. They ship most ingredients from their home province; those they can't, they make themselves – sauces and pickles are as authentic as can be. The menu is season-driven, but classics like river fish, spicy fish maw and offal, or grilled-steamed pork coated in coarse rice flour are ever present. Go for spicy or mild when pre-ordering the famous lamb and fish stew." - Michelin Inspector

My wife and I stayed at the Westin Beijing Chaoyang from April 10 to April 14, 2025. We checked into the hotel at 7:30 PM on our first day in Beijing. Upon our arrival, we approached the staff at the reception desk of the restaurant on the second floor, which serves breakfast, as well as the staff standing outside at the front door. We asked for recommendations for nearby restaurants for a late dinner. We were quite disappointed when they responded that they had no information to offer, and they did so in a rather cold manner. Having worked as hotel employees at the Westin in Singapore in 1986, we still remember how much the hotel emphasized the importance of service during our orientation. They instilled in us the belief that "people make a difference" when it comes to hospitality. It was surprising to see how the level of service at the Westin has diminished, as it no longer seems to prioritize the needs of its guests. On a positive note, the housekeeping team was outstanding. They cleaned our room quickly and provided plenty of water and toiletries. After taking a walk following their cleaning, I returned to find everything spotless again!

Friendly, but unprofessional service. Wanted to extend one night, they couldn't do, so I had to do backchannel to do so. They said they will offer free breakfast for inconvenience, never did. They change managers all the time in a span of a day, that you don't know who said what and they dontknow eachother. I asked for fapiao, 5 days after, 3rd call to hotel, and still have received it after being told it was sent. So, its a mix of is friendless of staff a mask for incompetence, or they don't want to do something if they decide not to like you for any reason. In either case, I'd conclude not very professional, at least during this stay, which is a reason for writing this review - still waiting for fapiao.

Upon entering the premise, the lobby was breathtaking. It was spacious and definitely modern luxury. The room is spacious as well, and the bathroom is great. Amenities and toiletries are of good quality. The location is great, short taxi ride away from Sanlitun. Within the hotel, an entire level of wellness and fitness with an extensive range of machines. Would definitely recommend for business or leisure

Wonderful place to stay. nice rooms and bathrooms. Housekeeping is very prompt and good. Food is nice. Room amenities are good, linens clean. Telephone, TV , mini fridge, ironing table, safe locker, slippers all are available in room. Hot water kettle is there, the reception is very responsive. They are too prompt to respond to my message requests on Marriott Bonvoy app. Lighting is bit dim for my liking, probably it's like this to save energy. Overall a very good hotel!!! The view of road from my room is awesome, the Beijing skyline!!

Don’t recommend anyone staying here. The rooms are old though large but the location is prime. The biggest issue is the service attitude here and the staff consistently making promises about certain aspects they won’t keep.

Pros:- Right next to Liang Ma Qiao Station. Need to take a short detour on foot tho.- Love the regular offer of King size bed from Westin!- Staff are friendly to all nations.- There’s a delivery desk indoor for your delivery order. Cons:- There’s a renovation ongoing, assume would be more in the future as most of the rooms need an upgrade.- Open for conference, meeting and banquet bookings. > Met some drunk and ill mannered locals.- It takes a several turns to get to the hotel entrance by vehicles. Not the most drive thru friendly. Summary:- Will still be one of the top considered hotel to stay in Beijing.

We had an amazing stay at the Westin hotel. It has been so good that my children don't want to leave and we booked an extra night with them. My daughter had a little accident at the pool and the care we received was unbelievably kind and helpful, especially the Manager Cui has gone above and beyond, making us so welcome and cared for. We'll definitely come back and stay on our next holiday in China. P.S the Japanese restaurant in the hotel was lovely too.
