I just purchased a Brighton bracelet and the cashier Carmen was not very nice. First she got annoyed that I went to the wrong register. Then when I was paying she asked me if I just want to carry it out or do I want a small bag? I’ve purchased Brighton at your store several times and the cashiers automatically provide a Brighton bag or case and they also bag it for me. This is why I keep coming back to your store. Carmen on the other hand seemed annoyed the whole time and she was trying to do the least amount of work as possible. Bagging the bracelet for me was more work than what she wanted to do. When I asked her if I can get a Brighton bag she said they are out due to the Xmas holiday. She should have at least apologized for that but she didn’t.

Today came by and got some wild land fire fighting boots. I had best service by the nicest lady i wish i can remember her name. She got me fitted to the right size and showed me all the different ways of taking care of the boots. Highly recommend this place for anyone that needs work boots and more. 10/10 service, definitely will be back.

I ended up finding the perfect new pants and even got fitted for a hat (which was such a treat—the staff really know their stuff and made sure it fit just right). The energy in the store is so friendly and upbeat that I honestly can’t wait to go back. It’s the kind of place where you don’t just shop—you feel taken care of, like they actually want you to leave happy and confident. I’ll definitely be returning soon for more!

Just purchased my first hat and I’m so excited to take it out on date night. Jenny was super helpful, even took the time to explain different hats, styles and materials you can purchase. Did not feel like I had to purchase the most expensive hat on the shelf to get the customer service that I did. Will definitely be back when I want to upgrade or get my some boots.

Visited here for a dog leash and treats, and only missed a chance for my pup to get a rabies shot by an hour or two. (We may visit Canada soon.) Accommodating and friendly staff. Huge selection. Clean. A+

Great Place to have an Uber to drop you off to see the Picturesque downtown Santa Barbara and the Beautiful Pacific Ocean. The wooden plank walk is fun.

We had a very positive experience here. My husband had been looking for a cowboy hat that properly fit his head for the past few months and we finally found it here. The long-haired hat guy upstairs was amazing! He was so helpful and knowledgable and made sure my husband found a hat he was happy with. I wish we could remember his name, but he was awesome. Great experience and my husband loves his hat!

I came in for Pelletized bedding for my rabbits because the new Tractor Supply isn't open yet in Ventura and I didn't want to drive out to Moorpark. When I entered, the young lady at the registered welcomed me. I couldn't find the bag I was looking for because I didn't know what the bag looked like since it's a different brand than I am used to. I asked a young man that was loading shelves and he called for someone to come help me. Another gentleman came and helped me within a minute. They did have quite a large Oxbow small animal pet products more than I have seen at Tractor Supply. So, even though I probably won't be back for these pellet bedding bags when TSS opens; I would come back for all the rabbit chew toys and supplies they have. I was checked out quickly and on my way.

We love the Wharf. They have such a wonderful inventory. I like my jeans long when I horseback ride. Those sizes are difficult to find at some stores. Not here. I ask a salesperson who was a great help. They have all the great brands: Wrangler, Levi, Carhart, Patagonia. Plus some excellent brands like Olukai shoes. And, there's a tack/pet store too. If you're in Ventura, check this place out.

The Wharf continues to be our go-to for dog and cat food, good pricing and selection and nice staff.

This review has been a long time coming, but after my visit yesterday--and thinking about it all day--I feel compelled to finally share my experience. I've been a loyal customer of The Wharf for over four years, regularly purchasing my dog food there, and I've always had positive, friendly interactions in that section of the store. However, the clothing section has consistently been a very different experience. Unfortunately, the customer service there has been quite poor. The women at the front have never seemed welcoming, and on multiple occasions, I've felt unfairly singled out. This most recent visit marked the third time I felt watched and followed around the store--not just casually monitored, but closely trailed from one section to another. While browsing baby clothes yesterday, I noticed one staff member shadowing me closely. I moved to the men's section, then back to the baby section, and she was still right there. When I went to look at shoes, she appeared again. It made me incredibly uncomfortable and confirmed my concerns weren't just in my head. At this point, I don't feel morally comfortable continuing to shop in that part of the store. The front desk staff reflect a lack of genuine customer care, and overall, I don't feel welcome or at ease when shopping there.

I've been a fan of the wharf for years, and the checkout girls have never been overly friendly but still mostly kind. Today on a busy sale weekend I believe I was checked out by Danica and I have never been treated with such blatant rudeness and disrespect than I was today. As a retail worker for a small family owned business as well, it was baffling to me that the wharf stands for such behavior. I get that it's busy, I get you're tired, but basic human decency is the LEAST you should be providing in a customer service position and I don't even think I experienced that.

Knowledgeable staff. Both stores are fun to browse. Purchased a fine western shirt as a gift. Feed store has good variety of animal supplies.

It was my 1st time ever being there. I went in with my adult special needs client that I take care of & let me tell you that right away as I was looking at what food to buy for my frenchie, a customer in there was being racist towards my client & her teenage son tried to hit him with the shopping cart. So appalling behavior & was so disgusted! I did not feel a warm nice inviting energy there. So sad that this happened the 1st time I went shopping there. The cashier asked the racist customer if she had a rewards phone number & she looked up her account & when I was next in line I asked if I can sign up for the loyalty & was denied & told my purchase was different. I did not like that & left a bad taste in my mouth. Please don't judge people & treat everyone equal.

This is the best Western store around. Huge selection of Western wear and workwear. As an added bonus if you like Pendleton clothing or blankets, they have what you need.

We need to support our local businesses and they just don't care about small businesses anymore

I shop here every year when the Ventura County Fair is in town. Last year, I bought Wrangler clothing as they have a great sale during the fair. Today, I bought Sofft shoes/slides/mules. They were on clearance and so comfy. Clearance merchandise may not be refunded or exchanged. I double checked the fit on the shoes. I am so glad I did. I bought an 8.5 instead of a 9. We also love the annual Pet Fair!!! We also love Dr. Ron's (low cost) pet vaccines.

The Wharf offers great selection on western wear such as boots, working jeans, and lots of work clothes. I work with large animals so I have been here before for some working boots. I also come sometimes for some nice clothing options. They have lots of options. Usually though the customer service is not the best because I have come here before not dressed my best due to working in the field and feel to have been judged before. My most recent experience was when I came in to buy cat litter and I was in line to pay. I was next in line and another couple was waiting in line but not where the line is stated to begin. I was going to walk up to the register as the employee asked who was next and when she saw me she told me I could wait. I do not mind waiting I always make sure people who have less items go ahead of me or elderly people but this was not the case. I am unsure what exactly happened but I also would not have minded waiting if it was asked in a respectful manner. I know many times it is easy to judge based on your appearance but I wanted to write this review as their customer service has not met my expectations on other occasions as well.

This place has it all. Not your run of the mill pet and feed store. Plus I love all the nostalgic merchandise here The team is extremely knowledgeable and helpful

I never saw a sign stating leave ur purse in the front or purchased items in plain view. Yet we rode on a bike so we had to bring our other items we bought from the other two stores in. We where allowed all the way inside and once in the center of the store confronted by a man that said I need u to give me ur bags to leave in the front. Other customers had bags and backpacks yet he wanted my purse along with a purchase from the sister store. We then saw laughing and snickering by the employees as they stared at us. This was an embarrassment and racial profiling we experienced since no one else was Hispanic. I wasn't going to hand anyone my purse containing legal documents since I had just left DMV. I told the female I was not going to spend a dime to return my belongings and she laughed stating u go have a nice day. I then told her I would be reporting them and she smirked so I added now I will tell by boss whom recommended them along with my coworkers at the school they discriminate based on race.

The wharf has become such a staple in Ventura for all the farm and domestic pet owners. Every time I come in I'm reminded of the beauty that it is to live in a city that has a little country, too. My go to place for wood shavings (I get the classic) and for chicken feed. There have helpful team members that are always on the ready to help you answer questions, locate an item or help you load up the sacks of food into your cart. All are nice and friendly.

Best customer service there is! Every time I go they go out of their way to greet me make sure they find what I'm looking for and even take it out to my car. Can't beat that! They always have whatever I need which is just important to me.

I was there actually twice on the 6/21/24 once to buy lamb feed for my son and then returning said feed because my son apparently got his granny to buy him some without letting me know so luckily I still had the receipt and decided to take it back and return it. That was done with ease so I have only good things to say about the wharf, and the feed was cheaper than the previous place so I highly recommend the wharf!

My family and I love coming to The Wharf they always have good selection of clothes when they have it in stock and it's really cool. The only problem at this store are the much older white ladies with graying hair who seem to have forgotten about what it means to have good customer service. They just seem to always want to push sales on you no matter what. They seem annoyed whenever my family or I ask them for another size or if they can look one up for us. I think it must be their old age? I'm really not sure, but they always like to try and get their way. To remedy this, I tend to go to the younger associates for help. Next, while paying at the cashier they seem to really upset whenever they are corrected on the price and the discounts on them. It's really not healthy, it's as if they want to charge the full price to the customers AT ALL TIMES. Literally, one of the cashiers said to us today "You're lucky, it's usually not on sale". Ummmmmm, back handed much??? Calm down ladies geeez. I've worked retail before and I know how pushing sales can be. But you also drive loyal customers away with those bad attitudes too. Need to keep going back periodically to check whenever new stock is out. Other than that I was happy to have made my purchases.

The service went above and beyond for me on an exchange. Pamela especially demonstrated respect and an incredible ability to communicate politely with me, even though I can be a little rough to deal with. I'll definitely be back for my next pair of boots.

I do love this place but liked it better before remodeled. They use to carry some really awesome cowboy hats that you couldn't find anywhere else. But not anymore. Liked when the hats were downstairs. But all that aside I still love this place. You can buy stuff there you can't find anywhere else. I live in the SF Valley but travel there by carriage and donkey via the 118. Just kidding. I drive there as a treat for myself. So glad they are still around.

Floor service was poor. All the kids hang out by the pant section. I walked over to ask for help and they seemed bothered. Cashier was very polite and friendly. Great quality of shoes, jewelry and belts.

I just called to ask if they had any information on a possible recall on a dog door that I buy there. they took my number and Debbie called me back. she had done the research on multiple sites and talked with me about her own experience with that particular food. she was so nice to talk to and she seemed happy to take the time. it's so hard to find these days. thank you so much Debbie for the effort and first class service!

I went in just before my lunch meeting to browse, found a shirt on sale, then realized I needed to go. Came back 1 1/2 hours later to buy the shirt. I was told it was removed from the sales floor for the upcoming sales event. The manager won't let me buy it now, but if I would have bought it 1 1/2 hours earlier I could have. Lost a sale and a customer. I will NEVER shop at this store ever again!!

I have loved The Wharf in Ventura for about 15 years+ since I moved to Ventura County. I have a horse and buy many bags pine pellets and pine flakes for bedding every month. Both the pine pellets and flakes were priced reasonably prior to Covid. Since then, The Wharf has raised its prices, not only on bedding materials, but also on bagged horse feed and raw large dog bones. I am talking about up to 30%+ more on these items (and probably a lot more that I am not privy to just because I don't purchase a lot of other items they sell). There is a tractor supply company in moorpark that presently sells horse bedding for close to 30% less per bag for BOTH pine pellets and flakes (classic and mini) at $7.99 per bag. The supplemental feed I buy at the Wharf that is total equine LNSC is $10 MORE than if you buy it at a chewy with FREE SHIPPING for the same size bag. Large raw dog bones are over $20 for a bag of 6 bones....yes, SIX frozen dog bones! I have notified The Wharf about overcharging their customers during a very strained economy but without any satisfactory response or resolution to this unbelievable price gouging. Shame on them!! I am a real and long-time customer of the Wharf but I am very disappointed that they are taking advantage of their loyal customers who own animals and need many of the products that The Wharf stocks. Dropping the prices back to where they are reasonable and competitive again would, in my opinion, increase The Wharf's business and ultimately their bottom line net profits. Everyone should speak up. I sincerely hope The Wharf can do better by their long-time and loyal customers!

What I'm not loving lately is their mini bales of timothy hay. For the last three months the hay has been filled with fox tails and extremely dusty. The fox tails are bigger now and easier to remove from fleece, but still. The hay is more dust and small bits than hay. Dust is everywhere. It's really hard to manage. PLEASE tell your supplier to fix their quality. Before this was orchard grass (sweeter and stringier type of hay) with lots of brown patches and so filled with fox tails our rescues' fleece was covered. Also when a girl answered once before I went there and said their hay was perfectly fine when it was so yellow there was no way our animals would touch it, that's not perfectly fine.

Feed store is amazing! Have a great variety of things for all sorts of pets & livestock! What I appreciate about it is that it is not only family owned & operated, but it also has products that can be found cheapest there, even comparably to online! Rewards programs are even offered on certain items!

About 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024. I saw the very sweet Nutri Source lady be harassed and builled by 2 low life's. She told them to stop harassing her and went into the store to defuse the situation. This ugly women customer would not leave. This woman would not stop bullying the Nutri Source woman, and the worst part of all this was the special needs Findleys rep was crying. This woman looked hateful and mean and ready to fight with someone. How could you argue when something is free.

Been shopping here for years for my dog's food. Nice, helpful and ready to answer questions for you. I recently have had two episodes of them leaving sale signs up and NOT honoring the sale. I worked retail 15 yrs and when this happened, we gave our customers the sale to keep their business. The manager tried to explain to me the brand that was on sale wouldn't give them back the $20 of the sale if he gave me the sale price. I guess the Wharf losing out on $20 was worth my $200 (at least) a month I was spending on my dog's food. I am sorry this local business is losing my business bcuz of their decision not to admit their mistake to a long-term customer.

Great products and amazingly helpful staff. They're very friendly and so kind to me and my dog when we go in. Love the rewards options too.

The Wharf use to be a staple of Ventura and now it's gone completely down hill, the management is very poor, I went into the women's department's looking for help and if I recall correctly the women that helped me out her name was Karmela she was nothing but rude and gave attitude towards me and gave me an unwelcoming feelings. If I could give no stars or negative stars I would !

Your one stop shop for anything outdoors, sturdy shoes boots and ranch life. Super humble and welcoming.

I went to The Wharf and honestly everyone was super nice until we got to the work-boot section of the store . The older lady who was helping out customer was rude towards me and my family ; didn't care if we needed help. She asked everyone around us if they need help. I finally when up to her since my father needed a different size and she goes "no, we don't have it" ... ask her for another one she is like " I'm busy ..."" . My father got upset that she didn't care we left . Until , I decided to ask the lady at the register if we can order a specific size ... " she said yes!" . I wish the older lady would of offer that option . In the end the lady at register was super nice . I don't know if I'd go back. The petstore staff are totally different! They are super nice !

Ok. I've lived in Ventura County for about three years. I cannot believe it took me this long to discover this place. It is the coolest old-fashioned department store I've been in for decades. No, they do not have everything under the sun. What they do have is cool, top quality, and very reasonably priced. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. This place is A-1. I'll be back there a zillion times. Maybe more.

A month ago I went to see if they had any products for a dog with a cough and an employee informed me they don't have any " kennel cough drops" at the moment. I bought my regular items and left learning what the name of the item I needed to come back for was, "kennel cough drops." Today Feb 8th I went into the store asking the same question as before and a very nice lady employee didn't know for sure if they had any so she called manager Doug he came in "hot" with his condescending attitude trying to teach me a lesson about kennel cough.... I explained I just need a cough drop for my dog but he wanted to make sure I knew how dumb I was for asking for such a thing. Explaining I should go get antibiotics for my dog like he was some professional. My dog wasn't present I might add. I was so caught off guard by his attitude I letf feeling very frustrated and confused to what product I would need in the future for a dog cough. He only wanted to inform me about how I didn't know what I was talking about. No wonder this place has new employees every other week. The manager DOUG is a condescending jerk.

Just called the store and some girl answer & she was very rude. I was on their website and was trying to look up their products and it was letting me do that. So, I called to ask if they were having problem with their website and she said "we don't have a website and hung up" would not want that employee working for me. Your store is amazing can't say that for the girl that is working for you. Called on 11/18/22 @ 11:48AM & was going to go in but not now.

Recently shipped there for a pair of boots for my daughter. My only complaint would be that it can sometimes be difficult to find someone who works there. We wanted a dressing room to try on some jeans and searched for quite awhile before finding anyone to let us in a dressing room. It would be helpful if they had an employee posted there. Other than that, the staff was friendly & helpful.

We went to The Wharf to get a hat sized. Chris was very helpful and knowledgeable. He took the time needed to get it fitted properly. Having never been in the store before, we were impressed with their selection and friendly service.

Absolutely the worst customer service the staff doesn't even care to greet anyone. I get dirty looks every time I come into this store.

For so many years The Wharf always delivers the mail. Great work boots, casual shoes and first quality Western Wear. Jeans like no place else. A giant selection of tee shirts and Kool Kids Clothes. First Class Cowboy and Cowgirl hats plus every other type hat too! Masks, bandana and scarf selections are good but they do sell out quick. Shop till ya drop. Enjoy the good selection and helpful staff.

Been going to the Wharf for years, but today's experience makes me rethink my choice for pet food and chicken feed. The chicken feed protein bags were covered in a white powder, that I later learned was rat poison. This is not uncommon in storage areas for pet food. There were two employees chitchatting while I lifted one of the bags and hoisted it into my cart getting covered in white dust. I complained to the cashier about the dust who shrugged it off. He did give me a brush to brush off the white dust from the bag. It was only after getting and talking to a friend who is also a vet tech that I heard about the rat poison. Not only did I get exposed to poison today, I also got treated with indifference and paid hefty prices (up 30% since last year.

The Wharf is a good pet store/feed store with a big selection of pet and farm-animal supplies. I used to come here a lot when I had more finches, to buy their fancy seed mixes and then mix them together into my favorite blend at home. I have less finches now and I have a place I go to to buy guinea pig food that's cheaper than the Wharf, but I was in town and in need so I stopped by yesterday. I appreciate that they have hours on Sunday. They also have a home décor and gifts shop on the side of the building and of course their clothing store across the parking lot from their pet/feed store. Occasionally they have live chicks for sale, but other than that they don't have live pets. They do have equestrian stuff and raw dog food and wild bird supplies. Overall, it's a very cool place to visit and I highly recommend it.

BE PREPARED FOR A RACIST ENCOUNTER. After reviewing comments of other yelpers it is apparent this isn't the first time your customer base has complained about the prejudiced experiences in your store from your employees--it's 2019: DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. It is regretful that I should have to rate this place a 1 star after a horrible and unjust experience this past weekend. I'd love to hear back from the management with their answer as to why their company continues to tolerate overtly racist employees after much feedback complaining of the same. I was visiting the shop with my husband, as we often do, this being one of our favorite options for western wear, boots ect. As a the breadwinner in the home, I have often been the one doing the purchasing or at least the one with the military discount for my husband (I am in my second enlistment with the United States Air Force). As I was perusing the store for any new in stock items, I came across the Bed:Stu purses--I'm a huge fan of the company and immediately fell in love with one of the items. I had no sooner arrived at the location when this elderly woman/employee with the vest and dark brown/with grays, short curly hair approached me saying hi and if i needed help she would be available to assist. She had walked all the way over from the corner of the store, to the right of the entrance, just to tell me this. I thanked her. I proceeded to examine which color would be my purchase for the day--hands down I was going to buy this purse it was a matter of which color. I noticed that this woman was hovering behind me but I didn't pay much attention as I was busily choosing which purse I'd be buying. After a few minutes, I hear her speak up again, "if you need any help, let us know and we can assist you." I looked up at her puzzled...and paused out of shock--"was this woman targeting me as a thief?" I looked at her obviously perplexed as to why she's asking again so soon, like a matter of 2 minutes. Again she repeats, "if you need help with any of this," she motioned in circles with her hands over the purses and then to the entire jewelry section about 3 feet behind me, "we can assist you." So now it was clear as day--this woman is trying to tell me she's worried I'm going to steal. I sharply responded "i will" with an agitated look because if i needed help, i was quite capable of asking. I had never even approached the jewelry section...i don't even buy jewelry here because the materials aren't genuine enough for my sensitive skin. I never looked up from my objective--picking out a purse--but she found it necessary to call my attention away from what i was doing, and essentially imply that i might steal jewelry and by any loss prevention standard, at the very least let me know she was watching me. This is beyond insulting. From the color of my skin she decided it was necessary to double up on security--there was already a woman/employee in the jewelry section by the way. And that's when I decided I would not purchase a purse that day. Granted, they don't need my $120 to survive but it's the principle of the matter. While my husband and I proceeded to check out with the cashier, I noticed a white lady/customer looking at the purses exactly where I had been standing, I was approached in a matter of seconds--the white woman...never approached by this bigot employee. Not once did she let this white woman know she could "assist" her. Not once. So what is that? Is your business watching from cameras and targeting by race? Or is that woman simply racist of her own? Why make sure that I knew I was being watched but not the white customer? Treat your whites like you do your browns if you're going to do all that or else SHAME ON YOU. SHAME on that grown woman who feels the need to belittle another woman because of the color of her skin. Before leaving the store with my (white) husband, I walked over to her and said, "ma'am," she ignored me.."ma'am... you should probably go help out that customer over there, the one checking out purses like I was." She said that she would and then thanked me for my military service (yeah she walked over and eaves dropped on our transaction) with a smile that can only be described as menacingly cheeky. The fact that your company employs bigots makes me hesitant to walk into your store again. Why would I subject myself to shop somewhere that labels me a criminal strictly off the basis of skin color?

Wanted to give a shout out to good old fashion customer service that is a rare find in today's world...I wish I would have gotten the employees name but she was AMAZING...I called the store to ask about a specific pair of Levi's..she not only was more than kind about me request, she placed me on a BRIEF hold to find them!!!!! I asked her to hold them and that I would pick them up the next day...she actually was there and remembers taking the call!!! In and out... no stress!!! I hate shopping!! Great attitude, didn't direct me to the online website...so helpful!!! I will be back!! Thank you!!

Bought expensive Pendleton for my guy near the end of the dec. I didn't realize that it was too big then we got Covid between January and February it took us a moment to get better. We didn't give much thought to returning the item during Covid. We don't hardly ever go out anywhere almost never shop. today went to exchange it and we're simply told that the 60 days have passed and that we could not return it or exchange it. Pretty crazy when you give them business and spend over $140 there for a shirt.

Diane helped us find my brothers UGG's today. She was a shining example of what customer service is suppose to look like! Really great merchandise in there. Clothing, jewelery, shoes, hats, goodies and treats and SO much more!
