If you order crispy foodi like grilled cheese sitting in a container, they will get a little soggy. I'd usually pop it into the oven, not microwave, to heat it up.

A nice restaurant that sells a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches and other things like. Tater tots, salads, soup and Mac and cheese. Service was great I had the New York Sourdough Reuben. I ordered some tater tots for my 18 month old daughter to try. We both enjoyed it.

Came here once to charge my phone since I had lost power. Bartender was very helpful in getting me charged up. Food was pretty good too. Would come back.

Love this place. One of my absolute favorites in bushwick. They have such good options for lunch. They have a brand new menu with even more options to choose from. I got fish tacos which were so good. You can’t go wrong with their sandwiches. This is what they are known for. The pulled pork is a favorite. Their max and cheese is soooo good. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Stumbled upon this place and we were all very happy we did! Food was fantastic and this coming from the chef. We had vegetarians and gluten-free people with our group and all of them were well satisfied with the selections that they had. I would highly recommend this place!

Brussel sprouts tasteless and not “crispy” as the menu implied in title, bitter, lemonade was average. Not for the cost at all, nice waiter. Clean environment.

The Wheelhouse will be a new go-to, the menu has something for everyone! Today we tried 3 of their sandwiches. Each one had great flavor, perfect serving size, and were neat- I hate a messy sandwich! It's really hard to find somewhere with good gluten free options and this place made me feel like I wasn't missing out on anything. Great food, quick and attentive service, and so many options. We will definitely be back!

Here's the deal - I'm sick, I have a 103.8 fever. I order 2 bowls of soup, bread and a grilled cheese for $30. I don't want to do this, but I'm having trouble keeping food down and I figure soup is gonna help (the grilled cheese though was to break the minimum and for that I take responibility) I leave instructions saying I'm super sick and would appreciate if they come upstairs, and they don't. Fine. It's New York City. I open by bag and I have two paltry cups of soup, with barely any substance, I mean maybe 10 altogether pieces of chicken, noodle, carrot and potato. They gave me two small soups. Again, I'm really sick. I was counting on those bowls of soup. I didn't spend $30 to get 2 small bowls of soup, a below-par grilled cheese (but again, I was sick, so I take partial responsibility) and soggy bread so that I can get 2 small soups and a $5 Uber credit. I understand the heartless resolution from a major corporation, but not this BS from a modest Brooklyn restaurant. You made me quit Uber Eats.

Came in on a random weekday for lunch. I'd heard about these mythical sandwiches and thought - how good can a sandwich be?! Turns out they are pretty amazing! Warm, perfectly toasted bread, short rib was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. Sat on the outdoor patio area which was relaxing and quite spacious. I admired that a lot of people came for beers at 1pm, must be a nice life! Unfortunately the kitchen was quite busy during our visit, and we ended up waiting over 35 minutes. For a freaking sandwich. A good one, yes, but that is pretty unacceptable on a weekday at lunch. Also - they have a card surcharge of 3.5% which was not advertised clearly until bill came. I know they're not the only culprit but this is false advertising and it is a practice that is quite unethical, frustrating that restaurants keep nickel and diming their customers!

I ordered the Gruyère and Sourdough grilled cheese with the tomato soup is it was mind blowing. I am so exited to find a place that can serve up some awesome comfort food on demand!

Spot is quaint with good music (Spanish/world) but it isn't suitable for cold/winter weather. There's mild heat if any inside but it's completely muted by the amazing windows and lack of external vestibule for the door. Because of this coffee was ice cold, even when the 2nd one had no milk and mac and cheese "soup" coagulated quite quickly. I wish they had more alcoholic beverages but even more non-alcoholic options would have been great too. Overall the food is super flavorful and I love that it is a spot that doesn't try and rush you to eat. Try a soup if you venture here in the cold they warmed me up very quickly. I'd definitely return in a warmer period and with an emptier tummy ^_^

I cannot believe I witnessed the cook who was supposed to make my shrimp pasta not change her gloves after touching the door handle where she went downstairs to get a pan and other appliances to prepare. Not only that. The cook then opens up a shrimp taco order to make my pasta. I really could not believe my eyes. I've had food here before but this was something I never experienced. They lost me for good at this restaurant. I wonder what else they do that doesn't align with the food protocols of NYC. 6/11/2024

Terrific dinner with our family at The Wheelhouse last night - appetizers of cauliflower & brussel sprouts were delicious - and the entrée sandwiches were outstanding. Short Rib & Cheese sandwich with lentil soup was amazing. All that along with very good customer service made for a special night ! Kudos

Hidden gem in the neighborhood. Lazy rainy Sunday led us to stumble into The Wheelhouse. The wife wanted tomato soup and after searching for some on yelp, seemed to be the go to spot. And let me tell ya, for sure it was! Hit the spot. I had the Braised Short-Rib Sandwich and Mac and cheese and the wife the Creamy Roasted Tomato Soup Panavia Tornado. Very filling and delicious. Will definitely be back.

I mean - wow. Definitely a small place but 100% worth, especially if you like trivia on Wednesdays. Had a blast here not only with the food, but also with the trivia. While the service was a touch slow, it was literally one person for the whole place and they got the food out hot, fresh, and the drinks poured quickly. The loaded tots were so freaking delicious - smothered in a homemade cheese sauce with lots of bacon. So tasty. The sandwiches are so epic and I rarely get menu fomo, but I could not choose. I went with the portobello and cheese grilled cheese - not disappointed. The cheese blend was fantastic and the mushrooms were soooooo good, perfect cook! The fomo I had was the short rib with the black berry jam. Wow. Epic. The the sweet and the savory was SUCH a great combo. Definitely will be back for more trivia!

I was not the first to review The Wheelhouse, but I was the first customer for that day six years ago. I had the short rib grilled cheese and tots and chopped it up with one of the owners. He was good company and the food was all of that or alla dat! I wanted a grilled cheese sammie, but was too lazy to concoct one, plus I didn't have bread (trying to avoid it, but today's craving superseded that and because it's Friday!). Of course I ordered (UberEats) the short rib grilled cheese, but also the Red, White and Blue, because I love bleu cheese and almost any other cheese, I like variety and it's Friday. I had one half of each and was content and happy to say that The Wheelhouse is still on point! Both sandwiches were delicious, savory, great portions, and satisfying. my food was delivered and wasn't hot, but warm and still elicited endorphin party vibes (INSERT BIG SMILE (((CHEESE!!!!... absolutely intended)))). Y'all ROCK! (Refer to my first review for food details).

What a great recommendation from a friend while visiting Brooklyn! The food was absolutely delicious. The Mac and cheese was a favorite amongst my party! Great service - and good seating. Food took a little bit of time but when it tastes so good it doesn't matter

The food is very heavy but amazing! Especially if you love cheese. What's also nice is they have dairy free, gluten, and vegan options which is great for some of my friends. I've ordered from here for delivery several times and it's always a hit in groups. Dining in person was great too - the staff helped get me vegan cheese when they ran out, going in person to make sure I could still have my sandwich, so sweet! Casual and comfy vibes. Don't forget to get tomato soup to dip your sandwich in!

The Cubano sandwich was my definite favorite, along with Hibiscus Spritz. Had I lived nearby, I'd be coming here for the $17 bottomless mimosas. The place was pretty busy when I got here for brunch, and I sat at the bar, but staff were friendly and they were very accommodating for seating situations as well. They don't serve hard alcohol, but the seltzers, beer on tap, and other drinks are pretty damn good. I love that my food came with two sides. You can pick the side options, I got a soup on this winter day along with some classic tots. I liked that the butternut squash soup was not too creamy and not too salty. Overall I'd come here again if I lived nearby. Apparently they also have some events for art I believe. I didn't pop in at the time, just caught the convo!

The Philly cheese steak was delish but the Mac and cheese was awesome. Our server was very attentive. Perfect sidewalk seating.

The food is absolutely fantastic. I have ordered takeout and eaten in, and both times had excellent service and delicious, fresh food. Don't miss this gem in Brooklyn! Also nice to find a spot with a couple of IPA's in the menu. I'll be back for sure!

Ordered via door dash Got the braised short rib sandwich I asked for them to exclude the blackberry jam (not a jam person) This was a great sandwich Unfortunately without the jam it is on the drier side but if you have anything in your fridge to dip it works out well The meat was so perfectly seasoned The bread was firm but buttery The onions were a great added touch Unfortunately my cup of tomato soup was missing but probably would have been perfect to dip this in. Next time. Overall great food.

I'm shocked by the good reviews to say the least. The restaurant itself isn't bad, just very plain. We were the only people sitting and it still took us 15 minutes to be waited on. Once we got the food the experience just got worse. My friend ordered the hamburger melt and I ordered the Smokehouse Turkey. My friends food was edible but so bland. It tasted like they didn't butter the bread nor season the meat. He ate half and left the rest. The meat on my sandwich had a terrible texture and it was very wet due to the black jam. I asked for a plain grilled cheese instead. That too would be very bland. I've never had a grilled cheese that lacked a salty flavor considering the cheese. I ate a quarter of it and had to let it go. I would never come back here with the exception of happy hour (drinks only).

I was excited to try this place out but to do conflicting messages on the website and in-person I decided not to dine here. Went there for brunch since the website states that it would be $17 for 60 minutes of mimosas. When I got to the restaurant the employee stated that its $24 for 60 minutes of mimosas. When I referenced the website he was adamant that it was $24. It's even more weird because they have a weekly/daily specials menu on the site. Restaurants, please update your websites and Instagram pages. I wanted to try the food but the conflicting info was annoying and $24 for mimosas for 60 mins is overpriced

Delivery Review: My new fave delivery place! Came across The Wheelhouse after searching Uber Eats for Brussels Sprouts and so glad I did! The brussel sprouts are shaved and lightly tossed in a tasty balsamic vinegarette with sprinkles of parmesan slightly overcooked but not in a bad way at all. The portion size on these is a bit small for the price but it's hard not to order it again as they really are that good! For my main I ordered the burrata salad which was also delicious, very lightly dressed bed of fresh arugula and tomatoes topped with pesto burrata. This pairing was filling, vegetarian friendly, and probably keto friendly? I ordered twice in one week and highly recommend!

Local owned, the owner is very involved and the nicest coolest guy! Tomato soup and grilled cheese is delicious! Tot option is great. Dog friendly

Exploring Bushwick after my daughter moved in. Landed at Wheelhouse, on Wilson. It was 80 degrees and we were sitting outside. They immediately brought a bowl of water for the puppy. Two stars right there. The service was attentive without being annoying, the "make your own grilled cheese", 2 cheeses, 2 veggies and optional protein, was absolutely incredible, and even the iced tea was superb. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

I hope this place shuts down. Honestly. For the first year or so in operation, it really was good. But I can't even begin to express how awful it is now. From the chef to the cashier and servers - not nice people and not accommodating. The food is so bad man. Cold soup that's watered down. Every grilled cheese soggy with unmelted cheese. Dude even my San Pellegrino is flat. Please don't order from here. The menu might be intriguing but you will not get what you hope. Ever.

Came here for lunch with E and we had previously had a cocktail before, so we didn't try any of their specialty drinks or milkshakes. However, I found it strange that their Root Beer float was priced the same as a their more "extensive" shake at $7.50. Isn't a Root Beer float, just ice cream topped with Root Beer? Their vanilla, strawberry and black and white shakes are priced at $6.50. Moving on, we got the Burger Melt with a fried egg and a Braised Short Rib and since it was a blistering hot day, we got a salad rather than the chips. They both were good, but the braised short rib definitely won me over. I would be back to try their shakes and maybe inquire how a $7.50 root beer float tastes like.

I ordered the biggest chicken noodle soup. It arrived in a small cup, didn't even fit a bowl when I poured it out. Then, there was little to no chicken. Then it tasted awful, no flavor in the stock, absolutely bland and awful. Total waste of time and money.

Haven't visited them in person yet but I placed an order online and the food came quickly and was excellent! Definitely plan on making my way over :)

This is one of the worst places in Brooklyn. After waiting almost 45 minutes for them to confirm my order via DoorDash (which they never did), I was forced to call the store in order to cancel it. After trying to contact them three separate times, the phone was answered by an extremely rude woman who put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back, thinking it could've been an accident, and it wasn't picked up. The order STILL isn't cancelled, so they're basically holding my money hostage and I'm genuinely disgusted. These people are at best unprofessional and at worst, thieves. This place should be closed down immediately and I hope it does. I plan on stopping there on my way home to demand my money back. There's so many other places in the city that deserve your business and the respect of the community.

The cheesy portobello sandwich was so delicious and fresh. My friends also enjoyed their sandwiches. The outdoor space was also very nice to sit and enjoy lunch.

The Wheelhouse is amazing and I'm honestly bummed that I lived around the corner for years and never knew about them. These sandwiches are super nuanced and delicious. You really cannot go wrong. Gluten free options too! My only beef is that they're not always consistent about having gluten free bread, which is a huge bummer because that basically eliminates everything in the menu. Also sometimes their live music is a little weird and since the indoor space is pretty small, it's impossible to not make eye contact with the performer...awkward! Should note though that the Wheelhouse was giving away hundreds of meals to hospital workers during the pandemic. Not all heroes wear capes y'all! Support this business!!

I really wanted to love this place so badly, it was the only option for me on Uber Eats that involved customization with your Mac and Cheese. I placed my order and was excited for it to arrive and waited to take my bite and felt disappointment. The pancetta bread they gave me on the side which I paid extra for was soggy and burnt. The mac and cheese was not cheesy and lacked flavor completely. The only thing that was good with my order was the chocolate fudge cake though.

I've been coming here for a long time, maybe since it opened. I'm glad it's still around because I like the location and the ambiance. I can say with certainty that the ingredients in the sandwiches are better than Subway or what you may get at a bodega. I never really went this early in the day before; today I went right when it opened probably around 11 AM. I noticed that the board on the sidewalk said there was a half soup half sandwich special. I made the mistake of ordering chicken noodle soup. The broth was terrible and had absolutely no flavor. It was as if they plopped sad pieces of chicken and noodle in warm tap water. I had a couple bites then gave up. I rushed down the street and got real soup at El Fogon on Flushing Ave. I get it, you guys are a sandwich shop. So take chicken noodle soup off of the menu...or at least put in a bouillon cube or 2? Sheesh

Yet again, another NY eatery that doesn't disappoint! Great little hole in the wall hipster joint with some of the most delicious plates around! Must try the Morning Wood (lol), and the Grass-fed Burger Melt! The ambiance was quiet, clean with an ice touch in decor! Will be back!

The food is good. The food is also variations of grilled cheese, so I'm not trying to wax poetic about it. BUT I do really like the place itself, and the soup is very nice. Went for a casual date with a picky eater and it was perfect!

Their classic Mac and cheese is the BOMB!!! I order it all the time. It's the only classic Mac I've been able to find in Brooklyn. Their sandwiches and soups are also delicious. Everything tastes fresh and homemade

I've dined in and ordered delivery. Both times, I've ordered a variation on the mac + cheese, and both were excellent. The first time, I got a regular cheese type, which was filling and awesome with sriracha. Service was attentive. I'd go back. For the buffalo chicken version, which I'm still enjoying from my delivery order, there was a good portion of chicken, and it was real grilled chicken! None of that sketchy cubed stuff. The use of sauce was perfect, the portion size excellent for stashing some for later, and it arrived hot and in a timely manner. In my opinion, the Wheelhouse is a spot to bookmark for sure.

Grilled cheese, pressed sandwiches and beer. The Wheelhouse is a fun, super-casual spot that specializes in sandwiches and beer. My favorite item was the cheesy bacon tots---such a treat and very heavy (warning!). They have solid delivery and dining-in options. Will be back!

I'm coming back to The Wheelhouse for sure! I love brunch and this was a perfect meal. I had the lemon hummus toast with a side of tater tots (which I love that they offer instead of plain old fries) and a side of plantains (which is random and totally out of theme but I secretly loved it) I went right as they opened so they weren't busy at all and the staff was super friendly. The prices are moderate and the mimosas added a nice little buzz. Highly recommended!

Comfort foods like grilled cheese are not meant to be changed, messed with, or substituted, UNLESS YOU DO IT LIKE WHEELHOUSE!!! Braised short rib grilled cheese???!!!! Whatttttttt?????? On ciabatta bread????? BEST IDEA EVER!!!! If I didn't live 2 hours away I would eat that daily. If I had kids, they'd eat it everyday as well, hell I might go have some kids so I can feed it to them. The service was great, everyone was super friendly and helpful. The place is really cool and has a welcoming feel, I will definitely be back, trying to get my boss to move us to that part of our territory. Thanks for a great experience!!!

Tonight's mood: go to yelp search bar, type in brussel sprouts. I was surprised to see that it was a common search! My fellow sprout people, wya??? You feel me! I ordered on the Yelp EAT24 app for delivery of the 4 cheese grilled cheese with pickle and comes with small side salad, in addition to the Brussel sprouts, and tater tots. Upon arrival: Looked very clean and fresh for delivery - super fast too! Under 30 mins (but I live nearby). Okay, so thankfully, the Brussel sprouts were banging. Probably my favorite part of the order. The glaze was perfectly not too sweet or salty. And the ratio was perfection as well. The Brussel sprouts weren't super fried so I felt like it was still "healthy" night accomplished. However, not gonna lie, the other two parts of the meal.... not exactly my fave! Taters: still arrived slightly warm which is fantastic for delivery, but for some reason there was this slight after taste that wasn't quite right... not sure if it was oil or maybe the grill / gas, but the after taste reminded me of a chemical-like taste. Wasn't too thrilled about that. Grilled cheese: I only saw two cheeses in my Sandwich, and it wasn't really a generous helping. Don't expect a super thick grilled cheese (probably continuing on this "healthy" train haha) - so the actual sandwich was on the thinner side. That kind of skimping for $13 was a little bummer for me. I could be wrong on what I was expecting, but I saw a little cheddar and a little moz and that was it. I would have just ordered the regular Grilled cheese for $9 because that's how much I felt like it should have been. *Extra $1 Pickle bit: I thought the extra pickle I ordered was going to be an on the side type of thing, but they actually put it inside! It didn't bother me that much, but I took them out and had them on the side. I guess it all goes down the same but I know some folk can get a little picky about this! All in all, I have to agree with some people on here- I feel like it was a 3.5/5 for me, but I will have to try some of their other staple items in person next time to give a fair review. Not running to try again but I'm not mad overall! Stay tuned for the update!

Today was my second experience with the Wheelhouse, the first time we ordered online and had the food delivered. It was a solid takeout experience so my guest and I chose to sit down and enjoy the dining experience there as delivery is never as good as food fresh out of the kitchen. The wheelhouse is on the small side, figure 5 tables with a small bar. Wine and beer only. Boylan soda and NYC tap water available. The menu is limited but everything that's there sounds and tastes great. My guest and I sampled the tater tots, solid dish with fresh fried potato goodness....better than the junior high school garbage the lunch lady used to give us. Next up was their Macaroni and cheese which was delicious, creamy cheesy goodness. Both the tots and macaroni and cheese can be ordered with a large selection of toppings, onions, bacon, jalapeños to name a few. Next we sampled the short rib sandwich on toasted bread, delicious.....slow cooked short rib with melted gruyere and sautéed onions....yum The Cuban was slightly less successful but still a very solid rendition. Sandwiches are accompanied by a choice of salad, potato chips or tomato soup. Desserts are available however there was no place to fit it on this day. Our server Peter was a great guy, very personable.....an asset to the restaurant. Happy hour and brunch available. Parking in That part of Bushwick can be a bit tricky but The Wheelhouse is definitely worth the trip!

I live only a few blocks from The Wheelhouse and have never stopped in tho check it out. Well today, I decided to give it a shot. I got here at around 6pm (Saturday) and it was pretty empty (although the space itself isn't very big). I sat at the bar and ordered the Cubano with a side of tomato soup. Mouth. Watering. Goodness. I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it. The menu has such a variety and I'm already excited to come back and try some of their other signature sandwiches. The service was also very fast. To drink I got the Maeloc Hard Cider (under the recommendation of the bartender and someone else sitting at the bar). This was also quite good (especially for a non-beer drinker such as myself). This restaurant is definitely with checking out if you're in the Bushwick area!

Ugh. I hate being disappointed when I order from a new place. Maybe I didn't order the right things or maybe it was an off night. I ordered a grilled cheese, tomato soup and cesar salad from DoorDash for almost $40. The grilled cheese was mushy, they could have used nicer quality bread. Please also see the image of the soggy little cesar salad that arrived. The audacity of this cesar salad. I have nothing else to say. Please step it up. I may be a regular shmegular person ordering from DoorDash, but I know this is not an adequate experience. Thank you!
