"Opened in a tiny, well‑designed space from the Spro Coffee Lab, the same level of coffee excellence is on display while chef Tsubasa Onozaki dishes up Japanese fare, including salmon onigiri and breakfast sando buns." - Paolo Bicchieri

The Wild Fox - Review - Financial District - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The Wild Fox is a welcome addition to theFiDi lunchboom. The Japanese cafe is built for quick midday office breaks when you need to free your eyeballs from fluorescent lighting. Skip the underseasoned onigiri, and instead hone in on the sandwiches—either the one filled with sticky-sweet chashu or the egg salad with a soft-boiled egg showing off a jammy yolk in the middle. We also love thematchaand espresso drinks (this place is by theSPROteam, after all), in case you need a caffeine injection to get through the rest of the afternoon. There’s some seating inside, but everything is geared towards takeout." - Julia Chen

The Wild Fox is an amazing new coffee and matcha spot in FiDi. The staff are passionate and knowledgeable about Japanese coffee and tea and made us feel very welcomed when we asked about their products. I ordered the Matcha Mango Shizuku which was perfectly refreshing and balanced. My partner ordered the Japanese coffee competition flight and was impressed by the complex flavors and presentation. Their food and pastry selection looked unique and I can't wait to come back to try their sandos and onigiri. The space is chic and would be an excellent place to bring a coffee date or do a little work on your laptop. Overall this is the perfect place if you're looking for top quality Japanese coffee and matcha with unique options and excellent service.

Google
The Wild Fox is a calming, beautifully curated space in the heart of FiDi. The cafe is Japanese-inspired, with a highlight on coffees roasted in Japan that are hard to find stateside. Their elevated small bites, especially onigiri, really hits the spot for anyone nostalgic for their last trip to Japan. Their coffee is complex yet perfectly balanced, and brewed with such expertise—the owner literally coaches champion baristas. Although the location is convenient for orders to go, you'll want to sit down and experience the drinks in their exceptional drinkware. Truly a gem and a must-visit.

Google
Amazing new Japanese food and coffee spot. The Sakura Kuraoitsu was lovely. The Chashu Sando was excellent as well. The staff was super welcoming and kind. Definitely a place to check out! We will be back. (Also they had super cute stickers for my kid!!)

Google
A delightful space with delicious food and great coffee -- I was lucky to end up here for their soft opening. Rich and his team were friendly, and they walked me through the menu and described how they sourced many of the items from Japan! I had the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe pour over and a Kabocha danish. The pour over was especially delicious, and it was easy to distinguish notes of blueberry and orange peel. I'm excited to see another great space opening up in the downtown area, and I wish them luck as they open for real!

Google
Amazing coffee, high quality grab & go items and will definitely be daydreaming about the mango matcha. Love the attention to detail in this space - an amazing addition to fidi! Will definitely be back.

Google
I tried the matcha mango shizuku. They balance each other perfectly—the mango adds just the right amount of sweetness to the matcha, and they really elevate each other. The coffee smelled delicious too, I’ll definitely come back to try it.

Yelp
New pop-up! I think the specialty drinks are delicious -- tried both their matcha mango shizuku and sakura kuromitsu (espresso). In the matcha, mango flavor was def more prominent, so more of a sweet treat. I saw a lot of people ordering the plain matcha latte, which I would probably try next time. The coffee latte took me by surprise -- I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would! the espresso + sakura blossom black sugar syrup had a fruity/sweet undertone which I loved.

Yelp
Glad that new spots are popping up in fidi - I think the SPRO team is behind this? They have a lot of specialty matcha and pour over drinks, and when I asked what matcha they recommended it was the mango matcha! It was a hefty $8.50, and tasted great like mango ice cream but didn't have much matcha flavor at all so I was a bit disappointed. The overall prices are quite high - $7 for pastries and $6-8 onigiris. The interior is cute and cozy. Service is nice but quite slow.

Yelp
I fear there was some miscommunication but when we got to counter to order, they had 2 separate menus: one with a Matcha Latte and one without. We tried to order a Matcha Latte and they tried to warn us saying there's no sweetner but they have sugar packets if we wanted. I asked if it was possible to use their black sugar syrup as sweenter and they said yes. When they called us for pickup, they gave us the Matcha Mango Shizuku, which honestly I wouldn't be too upset about if it was good. I think the worker was confused by the main boss so it's ok we just acccepted it. However, when we tried the drink, it was just straight sweet mango milk; there was no matcha taste. The drink itself looked funky with the barely matcha showing and when we mixed it, it was this yellow-y color. I've tried mango matchas at other spots and they are a vibrant dark green. I'm not sure if we got to their place at a bad day or just our drink was just not good.

Yelp
My attempt at being clever would result in the following exclamation -- this place is "FLY LIKE A FOX"! Attending the soft opening of The Wild Fox allowed me to try new culinary and beverage concoctions from the founders of Spro, a small, independent chain specializing in craft espresso, coffee, tea, and fusion bites. Spro's founders' new creation is a unique spin on Japanese flavors teamed with your daily essentials of espresso, coffee and tea, with small bites that pair well together and accentuate each other's flavor profiles. We opted for the Matcha Mango Shizuku, a latte-like drink that emphasizes matcha magic, with mango essence, and a creamy whole milk foundation (Oat Milk substitute upon request). Boba lovers rejoice -- this drink is subtle, but flavorful, without being too sweet. Not too sweet... IYKYK. The triple threat for me was the combo between the Koushun Black tea, paired with a Miso Salmon Onigiri rice ball and umami Pirikara Kyuri cucumbers that give Din Tai Fung's cucumber appetizer a run for its money. Start with a morsel of cucumber that balances well with a bite of the rice ball, then down it all with a swig of the tea and you have a nice dance of flavors in your mouth that makes you say "arigato gozaimasu"! Egg lovers will enjoy The Wild Fox's Tamago Sando, a rich, creamy Japanese egg salad sandwich that is crowned with a nicely cooked soft boiled egg with a jammy yolk centered between Japanese milk bread. And to finish it all was the Toast with Almond Butter and Seasonal Jam with bits of apricots and persimmons -- a nice sweet and buttery conclusion to a wonderful soft opening experience. I spoke with one of the owners Liza and she hinted at a dynamically changing menu soon to come, as they embark from today's soft opening. FiDi San Francisco is lucky to have such a unique spot for your caffeine and quick bites fix!

Yelp
Lovely new coffee shop in the fidi area! The iced mango matcha drink was delicious and service was kind and prompt. There are some seats inside to get some work done, and they also have food on their menu which I'll definitely try next.

Yelp
Brand new cafe for your morning coffee/matcha. With a sleek design, the interior of the cafe is modern and aesthetic. Drinks are reasonably priced and the matcha tastes high quality. With a wide menu featuring matcha as its centerpiece, you can get cold brews, matcha lattes, and other signature drinks made with ingredients sourced from Japan. For coffee, tea, and matcha lovers looking for a new spot to visit, this is a must try!

Yelp
Cute Japanese coffee shop just off Market! inside seating is a little cramped, but they only just opened a week ago so I'm sure they're working out the kinks still. The Sakura Kuromitsu drink was amazing. Just the right level of sweet with great flavor. If this place served that drink and that drink ONLY- it would still get a 5 stars. Tamago sando's milk bread wasn't quite fluffy enough and needed more egg, but not too bad. I'll have to come back and try other food items when picking up my Sakura Kuromitsu. Overall I really enjoyed it

Yelp
Hot and new. Love to see new cafes popping up! Great vibe and drinks ! The snow fox is a great espressos tonic but I loved loved the cold drink the the matcha mango. Nothing was sweet! Today was the soft opening so give them grace re timing of service if you do go.

Yelp
New coffee shop alert in Fidi! Was excited to find that all the beans and matcha were imported from Japan! We tried the mango matcha and the latte, which were both decent! A little pricy but competitive to the neighboring shops. Haven't tried the food yet but excited to next time.

Yelp
Great matcha and a cute atmosphere!! Will be back soon! Didn't get a chance to try the onigiri and pastries, but there was a great selection.

Yelp
Amazing new cafe near my office. The standout was the mango matcha and the kabocha squash pastry. This is literally the best matcha I've had in the city! Tried a bit of everything and it was all so good: chachu sandwich, breakfast sandwich, avocado toast, onigiris, fruit bowl
