"After years of allegations detailing wage theft, sexual harassment, and racist bullying, one of the country’s most exclusive restaurants shuts down. The Willows Inn property, one inspiration for the recent chef-y horror movie The Menu, has been donated to a nonprofit, The Seattle Times reported on Monday. Since the restaurant opened on Lummi Island in 2010, a flood of diners from around the world made the two-hour drive and ferry ride from Seattle, Washington, for a taste of its rustic-chic menu and lush surroundings. But over the past five years, the Willows Inn has faced a series of lawsuits, plus an April 2021 New York Times investigation outlining accusations of wage theft, sexual harassment, and racist bullying. Despite the allegations, droves of employee resignations, and various protests by locals, the restaurant managed to stay open until November of this year, finally serving its last meal the week before Thanksgiving." - ByAli Francis

The Willows was a phenomenal dining experience. It was laid back, yet elegant; the staff was engaged, fun and the service impeccable. I recommend arriving an hour before for champagne on the porch to watch the sunrise. The inn itself is rustic and cozy, tucked away amid the grounds. Definitely recommend for a weekend away and hope to be back for our annual Lummi visit. ♥️

Just an amazing place to go. The island is serene and peaceful. Dinner at the Willows inn is worth the effort of making the journey here. The dining room faces the beach and we could watch sunset. The kitchen is open to the dining room and one can watch the team prepare dinner. Breakfast is not to be missed. It is a truly glorious spread.

Way overpriced for the quality and experience, although the staff were outstanding. Dinner atmosphere was overwhelmed by the very poor acoustics - you could see the server's lips move but could not understand what they were saying. Table positioning allowed only one of two to see the dining room. Food was so so; a sliced half cucumber was hardly a unique experience, the soggy cold squash could gag a dog, and the salmon slice was mushy in the center. If you are looking to spend your paycheck save the trip and head for Vancouver BC.

Upscale spot in a lovely garden setting overlooking the water. We stopped in around happy hour and enjoyed a cocktail, oysters and salmon chowder. The chowder should have been a slightly larger portion, but otherwise the flavor pairings were refreshing and complex! The oysters were smooth. Locals seemed to be enjoying the time on the porch before a busier dinner rush.

We stayed in the cabin. It was beautiful, the gardens were lush and vibrant, the service was great. All this pales in comparison to the meals. We had dinner there which was a "sampling" of several courses. One was better than the next. I also imbibed in the wine pairing which were perfect matches. Breakfast the next morning was as delicious and huge. The only meal w needed that day. I can't recommend this strongly enough.

A lot of people consider Willows the best restaurant in the state- I think it's definitely in the top 5. Dinner and lunch can be a hit or miss for me, I think where they really shine is their breakfast. It's very reasonably priced for both quality and quantity. Service is also great- very considerate, personable and professional- I'd like to return for that alone. Thx Willows.

I spent one of the most glorious vacations of my life at the Willows Inn. I had a friend living on Lummi Island and we were blessed with friendship ❤ and totally pampered at the Willows Inn. I loved sitting on the front porch, early evening, watching glorious sunsets and hearing the whales blow as they traveled by. Oh and did I mention the lovely harps playing? The food you ask? To die for! Breakfast beyond your dreams fast! The owners at that time were wonderful couple. The lady of the house was a gourmet cook and a horticulturist, meaning everything we ate was home grown, picked or caught that day. The fish, the vegetables and Oh the salads! Presented as bouquets on your plate with edible 🌼 flowers. To me this location and the charming Willows Inn is paradise. You have the best of both worlds. Enjoy the forrest and the ocean together, just fabulous!

Very complex dishes meant to be tasted and appreciated. You pay for what you get but you get alot. The experience of getting on a tiny ferry to a little island to eat at a nationally recognized restaurant really is pleasurable. Come here with time to spend and appreciate where you are. Great views and friendly staff. Prompt service. Will definitely come back. Drinks were great and outside seating in the summer was amazing.
