Simply outstanding. We celebrated our daughter’s 18th birthday here with the 8 course tasting menu. The food, presentation and service was top notch in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It was a perfect evening and fabulous value for money. Well worth a journey for a visit - you will not be disappointed!

What a find! This little restaurant is tucked away but close by the A131. The greeting was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome for our lunchtime booking. We did worry initially that service was going to be slow but soon realised that the new member of staff was still learning the ropes! Once we got underway the service was impeccable. The food came out with precision timing. And my goodness it was so delicious! Every course was filled with wonderful flavours and presented exquisitely! The portion size was just perfect and we did not leave feeling hungry! Many thanks to you all. We will certainly return to The Windmill!

Quite simply the best, the restaurant is delightful, perfectly mixing a relaxed yet calming ambiance with outstanding food. The credit for the ambiance and service goes to Nancy who makes every guest feel cared for and looked after. The food however steals the show, her husband Tom created exquisite dishes at an unbelievably affordable price. Whether it be the two course lunch menus or the 5 course tasting menus, the restaurant is incredible and cannot be recommended enough.

My Husband and I stumbled across this beautiful place by chance and had the most amazing Sunday Lunch here, the food and the service were outstanding so much so we re visted again last night for my Dad's 70th Birthday. There were 11 of us and when we arrived we sat in the secret garden taking in the stunning views from the moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble the service was simple outstanding again. The chefs passion for cooking really shines through in the food, everyone was still talking about how amazing the food was today. I can not recommend this restaurant enough the attention to detail and quality of the food is truely something to experience. My Dad had the most special birthday thank you so much.

We came across this place on our way home from Sudbury. The warm welcome and customer service was great. Lovely bar area and the toilets were decorated lovely and clean. We didnt eat here butbthe food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing.

Our whole experience was superb. The food is outstanding and so delicious. The owner, the lady who is front of house is very efficient, friendly and went above and beyond to look after us. I would highly recommend The Windmill.

Amazing delicious food! We went with a friend who lives nearby and had heard good things about this gastro pub. We were not disappointed, we really did not know what to expect and were blown away by the quality on offer. Presentation, taste and service were all top notch, a must if you are in the Chelmsford area, highly recommended!
