The Wine Tasting Shop

I was on my own for a birthday treat. I took a bottle of red with cheese and a charcuterie board. Chatted with the very knowledgeable manager. I've seen it busy with couples and groups of all ages, so I'm lucky to have it to myself.

This local wine shop/bar is really good in terms of wine selections and aperitivo vibe. The staff is friendly and professional. It’s also dog 🐕 friendly! I recommended it ☺️

One of the new owner's initiatives since taking over a few months ago is organizing wine tastings in the cellar of the place. It was a fantastic experience! The wines selected for the tasting were of high quality, with no cheap options in sight. The owner, who also served as our entertaining host, made the evening very, very enjoyable. To top it off, the cheese provided was sourced from Hamish and Johnson off Northcote Road, adding a delightful touch. We highly recommend this wine shop for a high-quality wine tasting experience that is definitely worth the cost.

This is the best place to go in Balham! Jordan was absolutely wonderful at recommendations and always providing quick and helpful service. The outside area is perfect for a date night or catch up! The wine is immaculate as are the staff and atmosphere. Would recommend again x

Was exploring Balham and stumbled across the wine tasting shop and wasn’t disappointed. Great selection of wine with very knowledgable staff

If I’m in Balham, I come here for a glass or two (or three) of wine at one of the outside tables (blankets provided when it’s chilly). There’s always a decent selection and you can buy a bottle inside if nothing takes your fancy on the menu. The food plates are decent as well, if a little expensive. Haven’t tried their wine tastings yet but do intend to.

The Wine Tasting Shop offers a quality wine tasting experience for an affordable price! I was highly impressed by the tasting experience and recommend it to anyone in the London area. I attended my tasting on a Wednesday afternoon. This particular tasting was a BYOB (bring your own baby)! It was an awesome opportunity for moms to get together with their babies, de stress from motherhood over a couple glasses of wine. I however, did not have a baby (as I was solo traveling) and was welcomed widely by the staff and all the moms. I even got to hold a few babies lol. This tasting was extremely affordable we were offered 4 wines throughout the 3 hours as well as small bites for £25 . The staff were extremely extremely knowledgeable and true experts at their craft. They talked extensively about the wines, their origin, ways to pair, fermentation and more! Their passion really allowed for a good experience. As a solo traveler in London looking for a fun midday midweek activity I was left extremely impressed and happy! Highly recommend.

So far so good. The Wine Tasting Shop emphasizes try before you buy but they do charge 50p a try. I've only been in there once but the wine they recommended for our pasta was rich and the perfect compliment. The staff (I've only met one but she talks very personally and highly of the owner too) really know their wine and are proper extroverts. They'll recite a novel for you on their wine selection so you can find exactly what you're looking for. They really pride themselves on vintage wines. They have done a great job of networking with and seeking out very unique, kind of "indie" wines. One of the coolest things about this shop, and something I have yet to experience, are their wine tasting events. Occasionally they will invite a wine maker to promote his wine and offer free tasting. I loved the selection of great quality independent wines, including a few "vins naturels" (low sulphate wines). I wasn't sure what to get and the lovely lady at the counter was very knowledgeable, a wonderful listener, thus very helpful with choosing the right bottle. Special kudos on their French non Champagne sparkling wines and gorgeous dessert wines!

Just got back home from a fine wine tasting event and i've had a really good evening. From the off the venue is welcoming with a long table in the centre of the shop. We are sat down the long sides with water glasses and spit buckets(?) at regular intervals. Wine starts flowing and we discuss everything from decanters glass shapes mineral and soil make ups and the best vintages and vineyards. The generous measures enable you to compare as well as allow to breath and taste the changes as the wine opens up. We tasted some great wines, and some really great wines. Accompanied by meats and cheeses and really good friendly company, an experience i would highly recommend. The 10% off came in handy to. Definitely somewhere i will return too!

Amazing wine shop with a great selection of wines from around the world! Their wine tastings are great in a chilled atmosphere! The ownser definitely know what they are talking about and they are always happy to help and suggest a new wine! They also have jazz evenings during the week! Really love this place for after work drinks!
